ANDROID E-mail: Delete From Server AFTER Download - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys,
I'm trying to have my e-mail deleted from my godaddy server AFTER it's been downloaded to my phone, but I can't seem to find that option in the stock android 2.0+ email app.
All I see is delete from server if I delete from my phone.
Does anybody have any suggestions or apps to recommend? I've already tried using k-9 email, but to no avail
Your help and opinions are much appreciated!

Email In Android

I setup my Yahoo! Mail and it never let me pick to use POP or IMAP. I think it's using POP because I don't see and of the folders that I made in my webmail (or other IMAP clients).
Is there a way I can use IMAP and move messages to other folders on the server?
Also when I deleted a bunch of messages, when I went to check my webmail they were still there and marked as unread. Is there something I have to do to make it delete them from the server (In Windows Mobile you have to pick "Send/Receive..."
I started using K-9 Mail http://code.google.com/p/k9mail/downloads/list
I only use Gmail and it does imap perfectly. About 5-10 second email receive time. Lets you configure each account if you want delete to delete or mark as read on your email server.
A great feature for reading lots of email from multiple accounts is all email in one list and flip through them. Speeds up email reading compared to other programs I have tried.
Is K-9 Mail not on the Market? I searched and only found plugins. I will try that link you posted
Market has 2802 the link will get you the latest ver

Huh? I don't follow. 2802?
Anyways, I installed it. How can I select multiple messages without selecting them all?

[Q] Android: Saving emails?

I need to find a way to save Emails on an Android phone, no Email client will do that so far as I can find?
My ISP is POP3 ONLY and I'm unwilling to change my email address so don't say use IMAP or Gmail.
I have no problem saving messages on my BB or on a WinMo phone, why can't Android's email client do that? BB has a 'save' option on the email menu which moves the mail to a Saved folder, WinMo allows me to create a Saved folder and move email to it which remains after it's deleted on the server, exactly the same as any email client on a PC so why does Android not allow anything similar?
NOTE: I've set my PC's email client to delete message from the server when they're downloaded, that's not going to change, there has to be a way for the Android device to do that or must I go back to WinMo or BlackBerry because of this one ridiculous failure of the Android OS?
Not sure i'm seeing the problem here. If you want to save your emails just don't delete them?
Same for me. I'd love to be able to make email folders so I can organize the accumulated emails. Having all emails in the inbox just doesn't work and is a pain in the ass.

I believe you're correct, I'm currently back on my BlackBerry as one solution to the problem.
you could try opening a gmail account, sync with your pop3 account and dont tell anyone your new e-mail address
What Robbie said. You can have emails forwarded to your GMail?
Check out K-9 mail. The native email client that comes with android blows- it's bare bones and it's meant to be that way. The phone and the OS is designed to use gmail as your main email. Although a gmail account is my main email, i also have to use some other email account and the native android email app does't cut it for me. K-9 has an archive feature which will create a local folder and save a copy of that email. I am using IMAP and haven't setup anything with pop3, but give it a try and see if this app works for you.

I have set up k9 and tried the archive but it just took the message of the server, how did you copy it instead?

[Q] Can`t connect to Yahoo! mail or messenger from LG Optimus Black

Hello,
I have trouble connecting to Yahoo! mail and messenger on my LG Optimus Black. I have tried setting up the mail account from the Email application already installed on the phone and also through the mail and messenger apps downloaded from the Android market, but I was unssuccessful. Either I get a message that my account info could not be checked, or that my username and password are invalid....
Could anyone guide me trough the steps i need to take to solve this issue? Also which is best POP3 or IMAP4?
I`m clueless in what concerns this stuff and also a noobie to the Android platform...this is my first Android phone....
Many thanks for your help.

Yahoo only allows pop3 unless you pay for the premium service.

Hi zelendel,
Thanks for your reply. I`ve just tried connecting in the exact same way with another address and it worked perfectly.... both the app already on my phone and also on the apps for mail and messenger fron the market, so i think there is a problem ....
Vctory!! I`ve done it.... I connected my address to the apps .
Many thanks for your answer!
Glad you got it to work. Mind posting how for others that have this problem?
Actually I have no ideea.... I just entered the ID and password again and it connected on the Y! mail and messenger apps I downloaded from the market. For the phone one it doesn`t work, but I didn`t try it much with my official yahoo address. I could connect with an alternative mail address, but the mails are not synced (the emails that were already in my mailbox are not shown and neither the ones I received after setting up the account). I could only set ut IMAP... could this be the cause for that?

Outlook Web Access Apps

I used to be able to access my work email through Touchdown but once the company I work for upgraded to Exchange 2010, it no longer works. I've tried several different methods to no avail. Instead, I recently started searching for a few apps that I could install for Outlook Web Access and found two that could be what I'm looking for and both cost about $5. Unfortunately, they don't include a trial period similar to what Touchdown did. Has anyone used either of these apps and if so, please provide some insight on how they work, etc.? The reviews are ok but I'd like to see if anyone could provide some first-hand insight.

EDIT: My mistake, I posted this in the wrong section. Trying to delete but it won't let me?
I am using Outlook web mobile but I cannot get it to notify me.
I know it says that if we can not outo login it will not work but does anyone have any work around that issue.
thanks

Mail app / sync deleted mails (POP3)

Hi,
I´m using the inbuild mail app with an POP3-account, Z5 is stock ROM. When I delete an email on the Z5, the mail is also deleted on the server.
But when I delete an email on the server (e.g. via webmail or when I download them with my desktop client), the mails aren´t deleted on the Z5.
Is there any solution or workaround for this?
IMAP is not available, and I don´t want to use another mail app.
Thanks!
Greetings,
Philip
Hi
I don't think there is any work around, it's just how POP3 works.
POP3 is really designed for use on one client, where the client downloads and removes the mail from the server. It then becomes the only device with that email. There is a function that allows the email to be left on the server, so another device could also collect it, but all devices are totally separate.
As you seem to indicate, IMAP sounds like the solution, or activesync, where the email is kept on the server, and you effectively work with a mirrored copy of those emails on your device.
If you are working with your own domain, get Gmail to collect the email, alias your current email address, and then make use of their activesync capabilities.

Hi,
thanks for your reply.
From my HTC I used before I know, that this "feature" worked - so I expected this from the new Xperia
Lets see, maybe there´s a fix in an update...
