Email In Android - Android Apps and Games

I setup my Yahoo! Mail and it never let me pick to use POP or IMAP. I think it's using POP because I don't see and of the folders that I made in my webmail (or other IMAP clients).
Is there a way I can use IMAP and move messages to other folders on the server?
Also when I deleted a bunch of messages, when I went to check my webmail they were still there and marked as unread. Is there something I have to do to make it delete them from the server (In Windows Mobile you have to pick "Send/Receive..."

I started using K-9 Mail http://code.google.com/p/k9mail/downloads/list
I only use Gmail and it does imap perfectly. About 5-10 second email receive time. Lets you configure each account if you want delete to delete or mark as read on your email server.
A great feature for reading lots of email from multiple accounts is all email in one list and flip through them. Speeds up email reading compared to other programs I have tried.

Is K-9 Mail not on the Market? I searched and only found plugins. I will try that link you posted

Market has 2802 the link will get you the latest ver

Huh? I don't follow. 2802?

Anyways, I installed it. How can I select multiple messages without selecting them all?

Gmail + WM6

I am using the default email software supplied with WM6 on my TMobile Wing to check my Gmail account. I didn't want to have an extra Java app installed just to check Gmail, as I am really low on program space.
I like how it works, except for one little thing - when I get my mail, it also downloads emails that I have SENT and puts them into my Inbox as if I had received it, or sent it to myself. How do I stop this? Is there any way to make the software stop downloading from the Sent folder on Gmail?
Thanks!
Are you using POP to access your gmail? In the POP settings on your gmail site you can create a filter to control which email is downloaded via POP, so you could probably create a filter which excludes sent email
Yep, POP3 access.
That sounds like just what I need. I'll check out the Gmail FAQ and see what I can find.
Thanks!

Ok I didn't see anything to fix that in the Gmail settings or FAQ. Blah. I may just access it via the webpage. I liked having the poutlook do it though. Oh well.
Hmm use EMOZE

You can easily create POP3 account in WM5 or WM6 and manually do send receive or you can setup intervals which pocket outlook will access your Gmail account. In fact in pocket outlook when you create new pop email account for Gmail the setting will be made automatically. You simply need to enter your email address and password
Anyhow before doing above you need to enable POP3 in Gmail Web.
acces your web gmail --> go to settings and enable the POP3 access. Under settings there is also a tab for email filtering in which you can define which mails should be forward to POP3
Furthermore If you wan to have push mail, you can apply for free http://mail2web.com account. It is free MS exchange service. Forward your Gmail's to your mail2web account and it will push it to your device. (it functions perfectly)
I think you guys are misunderstanding my problem.
I have it sending/receiving manually, and it works just fine.
The problem is if I send a message at home on my computer, then I get my Wing and access my mail, it downloads the message I sent from my sent folder onto my phone, as if it were in my inbox.
What exactly is "pushing" btw?

RVM,
as I mentioned go to settings in your gmail web account there is the tab of filters. Then create a filter with your email
i.e:
from : [email protected]
Pushmail is similar to blackberry email, email that comes to your inbox will be pushed (send) to your hand device. You save manualy checking your inbox.
That's what I did. I went into filters and there was no option to have it not allow the sent mail to be downloaded via a POP3 client. I may have missed something so I will go have another look.

How to delete mail at the client but keep it on the server

I want to delete the emails on my FUZE after I read them but still want keeping them in the INBOX on the server for some important mails. I have tried the default TF3D email client. The POP3 setting seems not working for my mail server. It works at the beginning but after a few receive/send cycles, it always took a long time to scan the INBOX and receive nothing. Then I tried the IMAP setting, it works great but when I delete the mail I got only two options (1) delete off the server (2) move to server trash. Is there any way/any email client that allows me to delete mail from the FUZE only. I know Blackberry can do that. But any luck with WM6.1? Thanks a lot in advance. Any input will be helpful.

What kind of Email server are you using?
If it is is Exchange and are using outlook account you dont have to bother deleting email from your device after you read as it only sync last (*) days emails only
(*) you can configure this option how many days email you want to sync.

Thanks for your reply. I am using my university account but they do not provide exchange account to students. Yes, I can sync today's emails only but I am afraid they will accumulate too many and start to take up my precious storage space.
I am assuming that is not a fancy function but just to clear the local INBOX folder. If I can find it on the phone, I can probably write a script to do that?
Probably you can limit the size of the message downloaded to avoid any space problem with number of days.

[req] email app allows moving mail between folders

Hello
I like the email client that comes with android (the one for accessing secondary email accounts). It does seem to have a major limitation though, you can not move mail around to different folders (e.g. lets say an important message ended up in my spam folder by accident, I can not see any way to move that message to the inbox)
If this is in fact possible could someone please tell me how to do it, but if it is not (which from what I can tell this is the case) can someone recommend an email app that supports this function.
Thank You
***UPDATE***
Yes I am using the vanilla/AOSP email app being that I am running cm6
The email account that I am connecting to is my AOL account. I am not 100% certain but I thought AOL uses IMAP.
So I guess the new questions are 1) does AOL use IMAP and 2)does the AOSP email app allow you to move emails between folders
If what you are accessing is a POP3 account, then I believe no email client permits you do do this (as this sounds like a sync function only found in IMAP accounts).
What I found to work best (and easiest) is to have my alternate email accounts foward all my mail to my gmail account, and have my gmail account tag each email with the name of the incoming account (hotmail emails are taged hotmail, etc.).
This lets me recieve all my email with one single app (Gmail), provides me with push notifications for every email, permits me to sync emails effortlessly, an so on.

I'd think that any email client can do it, but I personally use K9 Mail and love it, and it certainly does this.
As the above poster says, if you're using POP this might not be possible. IMAP it certainly is. You should not being using POP anyway.
Don't know about the vanilla android one but I know the HTC Email program will let you move between folders.

Yahoo mail app

Anyone know how i can sync my yahoo mail account (yahoo mail app) to my phone ????
Hi,
1. you can install the "Yahoo! Mail for Android" app from the Android Market (it's free). It works well and gives you full access to your contacts & folders, which I find very handy. You can move mails into your folders and they will sync with your main account.
2.you could create a mail account directly on your phone by running the app "Setup" and following the prompts or
3. Menu / Settings / Accounts & sync / Add account and follow the prompts.
For me no. 1 is best. Btw this is for a HTC Desire with standard ROM on V2.2,
Hope this helps. Cheers .....
I agree, the Yahoo Mail app works pretty good. The only downside is that even though it knows when you get new mail, it doesn't download it or update the folder views until you open that folder, so there's a lot of your time wasted while it refreshes the folder.
K9 mail surely works for Yahoo, as it does for any IMAP or POP provider.
Can someone upload or send a link to the latest Yahoo! Mail apk. I found version 1.0.1 online but it now tells me that I have to have a required update to v1.0.4. Unfortunately, my tablet doesn't have full market access (yet!). Thanks in advance.

+1 for K9, I have it fetching my Yahoo, Hotmail and doing Push for my multiple Gmail accounts. Does folder/labels too.
Sure, but it doesn't support the "push" part. You have to check the Yahoo mail manually. It sux big time, if ya ask me...
I've tried every possible setting (servers/ports/encryption) but you still have to check manually. *sigh*

[Q] Android: Saving emails?

I need to find a way to save Emails on an Android phone, no Email client will do that so far as I can find?
My ISP is POP3 ONLY and I'm unwilling to change my email address so don't say use IMAP or Gmail.
I have no problem saving messages on my BB or on a WinMo phone, why can't Android's email client do that? BB has a 'save' option on the email menu which moves the mail to a Saved folder, WinMo allows me to create a Saved folder and move email to it which remains after it's deleted on the server, exactly the same as any email client on a PC so why does Android not allow anything similar?
NOTE: I've set my PC's email client to delete message from the server when they're downloaded, that's not going to change, there has to be a way for the Android device to do that or must I go back to WinMo or BlackBerry because of this one ridiculous failure of the Android OS?
Not sure i'm seeing the problem here. If you want to save your emails just don't delete them?
Same for me. I'd love to be able to make email folders so I can organize the accumulated emails. Having all emails in the inbox just doesn't work and is a pain in the ass.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
I think not possible you can keep them as long as you can

I believe you're correct, I'm currently back on my BlackBerry as one solution to the problem.
you could try opening a gmail account, sync with your pop3 account and dont tell anyone your new e-mail address
What Robbie said. You can have emails forwarded to your GMail?
Check out K-9 mail. The native email client that comes with android blows- it's bare bones and it's meant to be that way. The phone and the OS is designed to use gmail as your main email. Although a gmail account is my main email, i also have to use some other email account and the native android email app does't cut it for me. K-9 has an archive feature which will create a local folder and save a copy of that email. I am using IMAP and haven't setup anything with pop3, but give it a try and see if this app works for you.

I have set up k9 and tried the archive but it just took the message of the server, how did you copy it instead?
