Any developers buying the One S?

I saw a similar thread at the One X forum. And they allready have some good devs buying the One X.
So, how are we doing? Any devs out there that are going to buy this awesome phone?

I am. I was working on my ROM for my HTC Amaze, got it about half finished, but the phone has been relatively disappointing and there's a fairly serious lack of development for it, so I'm going to be trading it in for the One S as soon as it's released by TMo April 22. Since the stock rom has been posted already, I'm going to try and get some debloater software up for it very soon (possibly before I even get mine).

We have been scammed by HTC.

HTC allows us to unlock but does not allow total root capabilities.
What is the point of unlocking and losing warranty if the phone is not truly yours?
Love the One S LOTS! But why keep it if development will be hampered by HTC?
Not a Samsung fan but I guess it will be my next device. Maybe sooner than later if I can sell the One S or trade for a G-Nex.
Got the S cause of T-Mobile and want true aosp along with full root functions. Thought it would be no problem to get aosp but wow was I wrong! Sense sucks!
Thanks HTC for once again SUCKING! You are losing the ONES who truly love your devices!

You seriously thought it would be easy to get AOSP on an HTC phone? That's where you went wrong.

Hmm well maybe if you paid attention to recent trends and saw how hard it was to S-Off the vivid and rezound, you would have made a better purchasing decision.

Is the vivid and rezound now s- off?

Point is that HTC advertises that they are " developer friendly" which is total B.S.
They turn the knob for you but will not let you open the Fn door!

I don't know, I think they have some insane hacking to get S-Off. I believe everything to achieve it on those devices has been patched. What I am trying to say is they have roms that are decent but it took them forever to get S-Off and their development was crippled by it.

Just sucks how HTC is half assing their support.
I will likely hold on and wait for some good news in the future.
Never, since using Android ,have I ever thought about giving up on HTC until now
399$ Nexus looking real good right now.

Don't do it man, I had a galaxy nexus and I miss AOSP but Samsung makes some plastic ass phones. It'll get better in due time. The One S has an advantage over the One X and maybe the SGSIII in that the European model and US model are exactly the same.

I hear you man. I have always praised HTC build quality over Samsung.
I do agree that the S is better than the X. Phone is a BEAST. Just wish it was not handcuffed to Sense

For now the best I can do is keep using Black Dragon Rom which "looks" for the most part aosp.

Another wah-baby post... sad. I thought most people would realize it might be a couple of months before there is a fully functional and stable AOSP build. I did. Whatever.

OP, how is AOSP on the G2? I saw it is basically fully functional and thought about getting one for a backup phone.

The G2 was awesome. Very large and very good development support for it since it is also the same as Desire Z.
Sold it after getting One S. I had ICS on it working good including camera. Gingerbread was lightning fast on it.

You are missing the point. Of course I did not expect huge development this early for the S. What you are missing is that the support my not get a chance due to HTC and HTC is misleading<which is what this thread is about.

Why people like aosp. ****ing boring. Then u need a bunch of widgets cause the aosp widgets suck ass get the gnex I suggest u. Sense 4 rules

You get FULL CONTROL AND CHOICE with AOSP along with SPEED and FLUIDITY!

You can get all of the Sense 4 widgets in one app.

Very stable. Looks aosp for the most part using Apex launcher and themed status bar and notifications. Sense system menu still there along with keyboard,gallery, and camera.

Nice. A large chunk of the note crowd is here so the HOX is shipping with 1.85 now? Is that why you can't root?

Some peeps been talking about jcase having an exploit but not releasing it yet due to legal concerns or something. I'm sure something will pop up soon. I dunno if I'll be able to afford the s3 when it comes out. I got a feeling demand for this phone will drop substantially when the s3 comes out leading me sell it for a much lower price.

The site says hd wallpaper and wallpaper hd and note wallpaper. All of those categories tell me "yes".

I too switched from the Note and just got my white One X today too, and really digging it. How are you liking it so far?

Have you checked the dev section? There's a one-click root for 1.85.

For the record...I love this phone. After rooting, unlocking bootloader, flashing cwm, and flashing clean from 3.0 se...it flies!!!! Thank goodness for development.
Oh and sorry blownco for jacking your thread dude. Let's stay on track here fellas...

i like it alot i don't use it as my primary phone i really got it because i took a gps back to best buy and they only gave me store credit so i figured lets try out the HOX but i do like it alot but i don't think i could leave the note i love the screen size of it.

Y'all think AT&T has plans to update straight to 4.2 instead of 4.1.1 seeing as how the hox+ update is already in progress.

doubt it. they'll probably update it to 4.1.1, and then that'll be the last update we see from them.

I read this on a google news search might be BS but I'd love it. And most phones usually get at the most one or two updates small or big doesn't matter too the companies, seeing as how they would want there customers to upgrade their phones in the name of making more money.

i'm growing increasingly impatient with htc. Once you go Nexus nothing really compares after imo

I think that is the main reason why jellybean is so late. They are going to give us that one update and that's it.

Its a tough call for me. Nexus devices are supported pretty darn well. I mean, nexus s got jellybean and it can barely run it. (read run it smoothly for longer than two weeks)
But on the other hand, I tried a phone with no sense available, and I realized how much I liked sense (even though I'm only on it like half the time)
But my point is, sense is the slickest, most coherent ui overlay, and that has got to take time to do properly. Yeah, yeah, they drag their heels so we upgrade...but in all fairness, I do think they put a lot of work into it.
I think in the end I've decided that a stable version of sense is worth two of aosp. That's just my personal opinion.
After a decent aosp jellybean was released for desire z, I found myself still running gb sense 2.1. It was just a great OS that was hard to fault.

Couldn't be truer. Do nothing paper pushing thieves. He cost att billions in the failed tmo merger and got a 20+ million bonus and then they re-elected him. Ponderous to say the least. If anyone of us cost their company billions, we would be fired and probably brought up on charges.

Att has no reason to give us anything. We already got one update I doubt that a second one is coming. They have a hox+ and sg3 to sell, why would they care about the hoxl.
