Synergy r259 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I do not meet the minimum posting criteria for the dev threads, so I am posting here instead. After flashing r259, my phone will no longer boot past the GS3 splash screen.
I tried full wipe, reflash at least three times.
Anyone who finds this may want to wait for a new revision.

You have to wait a good 2 minutes at least before it goes to the boot animation. I would do an earlier version until the sort out some issues

Yea I tried the latest release and it just wouldn't boot. ( 45 minutes on the Android boot image)
I suggest just sticking on r169 until there is a new update.
I am ASSUMING there is an update on the way because a good bit are having issues with the aroma installer.

Try formatting internal sd in cwm before flashing from external. Choose davlik without optimizations and superwipe. Works perfectly for me

ICS flash problem (stay in LG logo)

I have CWM installed so I could flash CM7 easily for each night build.
I am thinking to try out ICS. back to about 2 months ago, I could flash to ICS but the camera doens't work out well so I roll it back.
today, I see a lot of updates so I decide to give it a try again. I follow the instruction until "9.When welcome screen appears, DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING, let sit for 10 mins." After I reboot, I don't see "welcome screen" I only see LG logo popup, then I see "LG Logo with waves" for 15 minutes and then nothing happens. I just wonder if I did anything wrong? thanks
I have ext 4
Would help if we knew what exactly you were flashing.

if your flash took only a couple of seconds.. then redo the flash until it takes more than 15 seconds. Your symptoms look like flash problem that is a known issue.

more info
sorry, I forget post more info.
I tried these two ROM:
1. HellFire ICS
2. Kang ICS
both have the same problem.
by the way, I did the backup before doing ICS. the first time roll back, it asked me to setup account like a new machine! so I did restore again. then second got fully restore. currently I am using CWM 3.0.1. I just wonder if this makes difference?
when I flash CM7, it took few minutes, but when I flash ICS, which is fast! only about 15 seconds. does this sound right?
thanks!
CWM 3? Update your CWM to the latest version (5.0.2.8 for normal CWM, or 5.8.1.3(?) for touch recovery). That might alleviate all your problems.
Yea I imagine you have an SD card just like the dude above me mentioned go with the newest cwm.Same way you flash 3

Synergy rom

What would happen if I didn't wipe before flashing? And do I need to flash the 12.2 kernel
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I'm not sure what would happen. It would probably be less stable or not work... You could always try it though.
You do not need to flash any kernel. Only flash LeanKernel if you want to. If you don't want to mess with BusyBox, I'd wait on the kernel.

From my experience on other devices when flashing ROMs and not wiping I would almost always bootloop. Again that is my general experience. I would assume there would be similar results.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
I usually backup the current ROM first, then factory reset before wiping cache. I end up with good results that way. The only time I installed a ROM without wiping, it was unstable.
Well, I tried flashing it, and it seemed to work. This is without the wipe.. But the only thing I found incorrect was that the wifi notification didn't go away. That was an easy fix though.
Should the battery life be noticeably better?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Yeah I was kind of retarded the other day and forgot to wipe. I was greeted with a nice bootloop until I pulled the battery and tried again (this time the correct way) then everything worked great..
I haven't wiped for any of the Synergy builds and my phone is running great Running Imos kernel too. Awesome battery life from this thing
So.. Even though I didn't get a boot loop after flashing without the wipe... Do you guys think I should just wipe and flash again?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I'm by no means an expert on the subject, but I'd say if it's working then leave it be..

A wipe may not be completely necessary but if you do run into problems (FCs, etc.) and post a problem the devs or users are going to ask if you did a full wipe or not - and then recommend that you do one. In the end it wouldn't hurt to wipe even if you are fully functional.
I used to hate wiping all the time but with the proper backup applications it doesn't take long at all. I use Titanium Backup to backup apps and then also do in app backups for specific things like nova launcher, minimalistic text, and gosms,

[Q] Why does my new Atrix2 keep crashing and rebooting????

Hey guys, I'm currently on the ICS leak and SCV7 rom, and my phone just keeps crashing and restarting, I've cleared the cache and dalvik cache multiple times, I don't think it was doing this on 2.3.6. What can I try? I just took this thing out of the box
Couple things you can try:
Factory reset.
Try NOT overclocking.
And try removing the supercharger script.

Thanks for the reply, it was doing it on the leak as well because I had a lot of trouble getting it rooted. It seems that every time it crashes it goes through the boot loop, crashes at a certain part, then boots properly to the lockscreen. The phone feels awesome and fast but extremely unstable. Another problem I'm having, root doesn't seem to be working, "Super user has denied Super user request" nothing can get root, so I can't boot into CWM to try and wipe stuff properly. Maybe I got a dodgy version of the leak or something I'm not sure, I guess I'm lucky I didn't install the OTA and I can go back. Any idea on the root situation?
EDIT: Just did a factory reset in stock recovery, can you tell me how I can go about not overclocking removing the supercharger script? And once it boots, if it boots, I'm going to try and root using the ICS .bat root script and hopefully I can get into a custom recovery.
When installing SCv7 is it normal for it to get stuck on the Preparing SCv7 message and then reboot? I'm not sure if it's installing scripts and restarting the phone or what... Because it did this the first time I installed it, and it's doing it again now after a factory reset. If I can get into CWM I'll try and flash the rom again. Can I flash the other ICS rom after a wipe, or do I need to FXZ back to 2.3.5, OTA to 2.3.6, flash the leak, then install the other rom?
I installed the other rom based on the leak, same problem, tried without my sim card, without my sd card, just keeps crashing, boot looping, and being generally unstable. Atm I'm using Jims FXZ script to go back to GB, I'll update to 2.3.6, keep everything stock and see how the phone goes, I'm really hoping I don't have the same problems on GB, because if I do then it seems like a hardware issue, and I really can't be bothered sending it back. I'll keep updating.
Rdavisct has posted in the SCV7 thread about how to remove those, and yes mate, I think you're on the right track with FXZing back to 2.3.5 and the re-updating to ICS.
Let me know how it goes. I'll keep an eye on this thread. :fingers-crossed:
I need to get the battery charged then I can fxz back to 2.3.5. Hopefully it all works out. Any ideas what would have caused the crashing?

I hope it all works out because I literally only got to use the phone for about 5 minutes . Really liked ICS, super smooth super fast, screen is awesome. Crossing my fingers. My old HTC at least lasted a month or so before bricking .

I am not a master at all these things. As I understand you are getting hung when Recovery/CWM is trying to access data partition. Hence I assume data partition is corrupted.
It may be prudent to flash one of the stock ROMs.
The list of stock ROMs is available on this thread.

Fixed by installing kyrllios' froyo rom.
P.s. xda's posting restrictions hinder helpful feedback. I only wonder how many ppl had useful info to share but said f it when the msg "you can only make one post every 5min"came up.

[Q] Rebooting Problem

So my phone has been randomly rebooting and sleeping indefinitely quite often over the past two weeks. I was just wondering if there is a simple fix to this that won't require any backup or anything. It isn't a huge deal to me right now, and if it requires backing up things then I will probably just wait until I'm ready to do a full ROM wipe and re-install.
Why can't you do a backup in your recovery. You must have a custom recovery if you're thinking of a clean rom install. Back it up and do a factory reset.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
As I stated in the original post, if there isn't a solution that doesn't require a backup, then I will just do a clean install when I get around to it. Right now, I'm just looking for general trouble shooting that may lead to a quick fix.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
I don't think there is one other than reboot. You can try to clear the caches in recovery and that may help
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
If I clear something such as the dalvik cache, will I lose anything like text messages or contacts?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Contacts, no. I'm not sure on the text messages.

Do a full wipe and reinstall with a updated ROM or new DL of the old one. Backup your contacts of course but if you want to do something simple then boot into recovery a wipe cache then dalvik then fix permissions

no, you will lose nothing when clearing both caches, it cleans the cobwebs out, very safe todo and recommended, but wont solve every issue, recomendation is to start fresh with the issues you have, what rom are you on now

I figured as much, but I just really don't feel like doing a full, fresh start. I'm not sure exactly which ROM anymore. I've been running it for over 6 months and I think it was basically a beta type thing when I installed. To be perfectly honest, I'm surprised it lasted this long without a full wipe.

goto settings>about to see what rom you are on
the reason to start fresh is to check for hardware problems
there is no quick fix for what you have
As it turns out, my problem was a usb cable that was shorting out. I finally noticed that it happened almost every time I plugged the cable in to charge the phone. As soon as I plugged it in, the phone would freeze and then black screen.
