I have been trying to download this coredroid @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858418 but don't know where to download it exactly. It took me to the coredroid home site when I pressed download, n I downloaded v1.4, but when I flash it via cwm recovery and reboot it to install it from my sd card I get an error message. I forgot what the error message said. I have downloaded other roms I had to flash, n they worked great! Only having problems with this one... Can someone please give me the direct link to download this? Because I really like it and want to use it on my phone. By the way I have a rooted HTC INSPIRE 4G. Thanks!
You downloaded the one for a different phone. Here they are.

Ok. Did you wipe your phone first or just flashed the ROM? Just asking because I'm running RCMix 3d right now. Should I do a wipe first or just flash n should i update my ROM manager before I flash coredroid 8?........ Well, nevermind about the questions because it just want work on my phone. The home screen won't even show it says loading and then the screen blanks out and loading pops right back up. I can get into the stuff that's on the lock screen by pulling it to the ring, and I can get to my setting by pulling down the notification bar. I can't access any of the home screens because loading keeps popping up. Why is that? I tried the one you posted above also, still the same as the other ones I have tried. :/ I really like this rom though, maybe it'll be fixed and working properly soon. Oh yeah I did a hard reset on my phone by holding down the down button and power button and tried to flash it afterwards, but still the same thing.
I am New to this game as well, but try and do a clean install wipe all the settings and things like that from the recovery menu then install zip from sd card and see if that works.
I have wiped it from the rom manager, but the home screen still stayed on loading and I can never get to the home screen because of loading blanks out n appear again.

As I'm having the same issue after loading the HTC Desire HD v8.0 update please share what you did to fix this issue.
After I put CoreDroid on my SD card I went to rom manager and went to install zip from SD card, then go down to whatever ROM you're putting on your phone click on it... if your coming from another ROM clear Dalvik cache and wipe data cache, but if your not coming from another ROM just check wipe data and cache. Then press ok then it should flash and reboot on it's own. Let me know if this works for you.

If you're going from one ROM to another, you should always do a full wipe of everything or you'll run into trouble eventually. Installing a minor revision update of the same ROM usually doesn't require wiping anything unless the developer says otherwise.
I was just telling him how I did mines, n I didn't come from a different ROM that's y I didn't clear Dalvik cache I only wiped data n cache. By the way a developer did tell me to wipe my data if coming from a different ROM to start fresh... So now with that being said, @ henry, should I clear Dalvik cache and wipe data and cache every time I switch to a different ROM from ROM manager???
Sent from my Inspire4G using XDA App
I am running a previous Coredroid release, so I would think that all I'm doing is an update, did you do the cache and dalvik clear after the update or before?
Before, then I deleted it and put a different ROM on here, after I took that ROM off I downloaded CoreDroid again and put it back on here. So yes, I cleared Dalvik cache and wipe data.
Sent from my Inspire4G using XDA App
Not saying wipe your data though since you're still using CoreDroid.

ended up having to do a data wipe after all, couldn't get out of the reload loop otherwise. /sigh
Oh sorry, glad you have it working.

Everytime I boot my Sensation (ICS OTA from Elevate) I got info, that my phone is "updating" apps... IDK why - after OTA I've restored to manufactured settings/wiped, for better smooth, and installed ALL APPS, and CONFIGURED from ZERO. It shouldn't update anything, or if should - once, not every boot...
any solution?
It's the dalvik cache refreshing but it should only do it after an update to the system. My Nexus doesn't do it

It sounds Ike the dalvik cache is rebuilding at each boot. Does it run normally after each boot?

Yes, everything is normal after boot. But... normal boot isn't fast, and now... with updating it's slower than just "slow" ;(

Maybe turn off the fast boot feature? I guess it's possible it might be precluding Dalvik from updating correctly.

Did anyone manage to find a solution to this problem? It's not hugely annoying, but it definitely should not be doing that.
I contacted HTC and they (naturally) suggested a factory reset. However, given that I had to flash 1.73.401.4 from an RUU to update (was stuck on an older version, for some reason), I'm rather hesitant to do another reset only to have the same problem. And given that I updated a completely new installation, it would seem somewhat unlikely that a factory reset would solve this.
Have you guys tried remounting /data, or checking and fixing permissions for that folder?
Dalvik cache is stored at /data/dalvikcache. Problem could be due inability for this to be read at boot?
Have you used any app or script that would direct the dalvik cache elsewhere, such as app2sd, data2sd etc? If so, disable/delete...

Thanks for the suggestions. Right now I am running stock everything, and it sounds like this would require rooting. Is that correct? Sorry for the stupid question, but I am rather new to that particular dimension of Android.
Yes root needed for that unfortunately. They have recommended factory reset because it will wipe /data.

Well, I decided to take the plunge and do a factory reset. As I suspected, HTC's reply was nothing more than a boilerplate copy-paste reply. Factory reset does not help in any way. I think this is simply a bug in HTC's ICS update (and not the only one, by the sound of things). If they'll admit it, now that's another matter...

I tried searching, but couldnt really find an answer. I was trying to change the color of the status bar using ROM toolbox and when I tried to install the change it rebooted to the loading screen and stuck. I rebooted into CWM and tried to restore from a previous backup from when I installed 4.1.1 and even though it ran the restore, it then stuck at the samsung screen. All is good now thanks to GTG's ultimate unbrick, but I was hoping to figure out what I did wrong to cause the problem in the first place, and then why the restore wouldnt work in CWM. Thanks, and forgive the noobness....

I did a factory reset, wipe cash, wipe delvik before restoring. Am I right in thinking that after wiping all I should have had to do is to to restore and run it? If it didnt work for whatever reason thats fine, I just want to make sure it was a bug and not user error.
ICS Roms are not fully customizable as of yet with any apps as far a I know not even in UOT Kitchen. In order to fully customize you have to dissect and manually alter which is not recommended unless you are well knowledged on compiling and decompiling.

I've never once had issues wiping then restoring. I had errors only when I didn't do a wipe. Bootloops, force closes, etc. Give it a shot, but nothing is guaranteed as results vary per device.

So my phone has been randomly rebooting and sleeping indefinitely quite often over the past two weeks. I was just wondering if there is a simple fix to this that won't require any backup or anything. It isn't a huge deal to me right now, and if it requires backing up things then I will probably just wait until I'm ready to do a full ROM wipe and re-install.
Why can't you do a backup in your recovery. You must have a custom recovery if you're thinking of a clean rom install. Back it up and do a factory reset.

As I stated in the original post, if there isn't a solution that doesn't require a backup, then I will just do a clean install when I get around to it. Right now, I'm just looking for general trouble shooting that may lead to a quick fix.

Do a full wipe and reinstall with a updated ROM or new DL of the old one. Backup your contacts of course but if you want to do something simple then boot into recovery a wipe cache then dalvik then fix permissions

no, you will lose nothing when clearing both caches, it cleans the cobwebs out, very safe todo and recommended, but wont solve every issue, recomendation is to start fresh with the issues you have, what rom are you on now

I figured as much, but I just really don't feel like doing a full, fresh start. I'm not sure exactly which ROM anymore. I've been running it for over 6 months and I think it was basically a beta type thing when I installed. To be perfectly honest, I'm surprised it lasted this long without a full wipe.

As it turns out, my problem was a usb cable that was shorting out. I finally noticed that it happened almost every time I plugged the cable in to charge the phone. As soon as I plugged it in, the phone would freeze and then black screen.
Hey Guys - I am out of ideas and think my run with the charge might be coming to an end.
My phone is running FP8 stock ROM, rooted, with some apps frozen using TiBu. I have not issues with this set up since the update was pushed. I used tweak for a year or so, then went back to stock for FP8.
A few days ago my phone started to act weird. Widgets were not updating, apps randomly force closing. It was annoying but still usable. I decided to do a factory reset and then everything hit the fan. When I boot up the phone every app on my phone force closes and it is not usable. The "Setup Wizard" also force closes so I can not even get past that.
I have tried flashing other ROMs including Eclipse, tweaked, EP4 with pit, etc.The flash is successful but the force closes persist. I have also tried wiping data through stock recovery and CWM, but I do not think it works. I still see force close errors when the phone boots of apps that should have been wiped (twitter,TiBu, etc.). Anything else I can try? Pretty desperate as it looks like this thing might be toast.
Cliffs
Phone acting weird, reset data multiple times and everything force closes. Phone is not usable at all.
Tried wiping data but does not seem to work, downloaded apps still force close
Flashed different ROMS (both stock w/ pit and custom)
Still force closing. Help?
If the force closes are persisting even though data is wiped, you may have something nasty sticking around through dirty flashes (assuming you're flashing over the old). Make sure you clear all caches and if that doesn't work, it's a shot in the dark but you may want to try formatting the system partition through CWM and then reinstalling FP8 or whatever custom ROM you want. Whatever you do have backups ready...

Thanks for the idea. I am pretty sure I have already tried this but through CWM I will clear cache, davlik cache, data, and format system then try a flash of stock with .pit
Like you said, it seems like whatever is causing this is still sticking around even after all this clearing/flashing. Is there any way to clear these things through adb? Or would getting a log be worth my time?
If all else fails try odin.

I have tried flashing ROMS (stock and custom) through ODIN and to no avail. I am able to flash but it still does not overwrite the corrupted data. I still get force close errors for downloaded apps that should have been erased/over written. Even formatted my SD card just to be sure and didn't help.
Seems like my only option may be to somehow find and delete the data through ADB. Clearing through CVM and stock recovery is not doing anything. Problem is I do not know where this old/bad data is!

Never heard of PST when you posted that. Good idea, but I just tried a few flashes and the effect was no different than ODIN/CWM
This problem keeps getting weirder. So sometimes I am able to get through into the phone (even though I get force close pop ups every 2 seconds). I was able to uninstall most of the apps causing the FCs (not all because some are the system apps).
However, everytime the phone reboots the apps come back! Where in the hell are they being cached/stored to just magically re-appear after data wipes/flashes/un-installs. Seems like I have all these corrupted apps that I can not get rid of. Through terminal emulator I cleared data, and davlik but didn't help.
Have you pulled your sd card and sim then checked if it would boot. Also wipe internal sd from stock recovery

Yea, eventually I can get it to boot but the phone is not usable with all the force closing. The option to clear internal SD only seems to be available for the older ROMS, but I flashed ED1 and cleared it. No luck.

Yep I have turned them off. My settings also get reset however when I clear data, reboot, re flash etc.
Good question about the full EP4 ODIN. I have been using the ones from imnuts website, and have also tried the CWM packages from kvswim's thread in the development section. Tried Eclipse Beta 2 & EP4,EE4,ED1, FP8 stock. I also tried the CM10 ROM just to see if the change to ext file system would do anything. Not sure if any of them are labled as having rom, kernal and radios, but I would imagine at least a few of them are.
No matter what I do, I get outsmarted and all my corruped apps, settings and force closes remain.
I think you can skip activation after flashing ep4 and still get the ota's to get to fp1, fp5 and finally fp8. once there try activation, etc. Keep it purely stock no root. still fc's? IMHO your phone storage is hosed.

To skip activation - on the setup screen click on the Emergency Dial button. Once at the dialer, dial:
*#TESTMODE (or *#83786633)
That will "enable the soft keys", making it so you can then hit home to get to the launcher without activating.

Pretty cool! Didn't know I could do that. However once getting past that just about every app continues to force close including tw launcher.
Being that old apps & settings will continue to be restored after doing everything possible to get rid of them it must be a hardware issue.
Oh well, I will keep the phone around for the hell of it but guess it's time I look into something new.
