[Q] Can't overclock! - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Trying to overclock, and just can't get it to take
ViperXL 3.1.0
ElementalX-1.5
1.09 Hboot
I've gone so far as to completely wipe the 'sdcard' and start from scratch. Running 'lsmod' in terminal shows that the module is loaded, and the max speed I select shows under cpu in venom tweaks. This is driving me nuts! What can I do to troubleshoot?

When you flashed elemental, what did you set as your max CPU speed?
What program are you using to check / set CPU speed?

I've tried 1728, 1809, & 1890. I even tried speeds lower than stock, and it still runs at factory speeds, so I'm thinking something is wrong with the oc module, but I don't know his to check. I tried using the app built into viper, setcpu, and kernel tuner. I thought they may be conflicting, and that's why I wiped and started fresh.

Not sure it's worth the trouble!
Don't I have to relock the bootloader, ruu, then unlock it again? It's been a while since I did it, and I don't remember where I put my token... Or do I need the token?

Try disabling apply on boot in venum tweeks and any other gov app before you install oc in elemental, I had same issue until I unchecked apply on boot then I reinstalled elemental............something is wacky though because I tried to install back to stock with no oc but on reboot settings in Rom revert back and shows oc....thx tho to dev who works hard sharing there work...

i cannot acces governor for cpu0 and 1, same for i/o scheduler
just a bunch of numbers appearing
everything else is accessable and i applied battery save profile for ondemad governor, so i still have to see how it improves the battery life

I'm on Trickdroid v7.0.0 which should have the latest busybox. Are you saying I should install the newest busybox from market?
Can anyone confirm if this has a smart script that turns off CPU1 and underclocks both CPUs when screen is off?

Yes it puts it to the lowest state when screen is off by default, unless you change the profile off and set both min max high it will always knock it down.

No it does not, when using ondemand governor it adjusts the cpus when necessary. When cpu1 is needed it comes online, kinda makes the cpu1 off while sleeping unnecessary. I am thinking about adding the underclocking while the screen is off and while the phone is in use for a future releases. But this script doesnt use screen off to do anything.

If you are familiar with flashing, flash others GB roms from the dev area. See if it still crashes.

It could be that you need to do a factory reset on your phone and start fresh, that could probably fix your freezing problem.
Also you might also want to look into updating your phone to LG's official 2.3.4 ROM, it is much more stable than the 2.3.3 ROM that your on.

[Q] Getting SetCPU Max to stick?

I can't get my max to stick at 1.7ghz. When I try to it'll go back to 1.5 and even 1.1 at times. How can I get it to stick?
On Vengeance V3 ROM w/ LK 1.8, I've checked terminal and I have a 'fast' CPU.

As for busybox....I"m not sure if that is on this ROM or not. If not should I install it? I found a BusyBox app on the play store that says its supposed to install busy box. Jus don't wanna mess up anything lol.

I'm using SetCPU. Min set to 384. Right I would've thought it would've settled by now. Generally really w/ most kernels I've installed they've all had a tendency to jump up in heat kinda quickly. So yes it does generally get hot even while adjusting OC.
Yea, maintaining OC can be somewhat tricky depending on the heat produced. Does this continue to occur when you select "set at boot" option for the CPU?

fauxsound coding is actually done in my private build, but HTC did something non-standard and is conflicting with fauxsound kernel drivers.. that's why i didn't release it yet.. need to troubleshoot and see what HTC has done to the standard sound driver from Qualcomm...
HTC always do something different from everyone else including the reference design from Qualcomm.... Sometimes they OVER engineered...

Anyone else have this issue where the CPU will randomly change frequency?

I've had this issue on Mahdi ROM which is what I'm on right now, but also every other ROM and every kernel that I've tried except for ElementalX. Basically, the kernel will change it's max frequency to 1.19 GHz usually, and soemtimes 1.6 GHz or 1.9GHz and you can't change it back until you flash a different kernel. Rebooting doesn't help, and changing it kernel tuner only helps temporarily. Every other kernel app only changes CPU0 for some reason not sure if that's just be or what. It's a very strange problem, and I have not gotten any help or suggestions so far, so if anyone knows how to help, that would be great. Again, this has happened on every single ROM I've tried, with every kernel, except ElementalX (and I think Trinity but I didn't use it long enough to be sure).

there are things that get missed when wiping, like init.d files sometimes. everyone(but 1 person) ive seen this happen to has had it fixed when deleting their init.d folder/files. id recommend flashing the factory img instead of wiping, it one way to get a true clean flash afterwards.

I think there may be something seriously wrong with my phone... I went ahead and flash the stock image, and everything went fine... but lo and behold on entirely stock firmware my phone still maxes out at whatever frequency it damn well feels like (1.5 GHz right now, but it was at 1.19 earlier). I have no idea what could possibly be doing this.

Okay, I'll be honest I'm not entirely sure how mpdecision works, but from what I understand this is not how it should behave, yes? My phone is just stuck at 1.19 ghz and won't go up even when the CPU load goes up, and then my device lags. If this is how it is supposed to behave, would you mind explaining why?
Bump. Still having same problem would really like a solution, it's extremely annoying and I've seen a few other people have this problem
