Is there any possibility of having 2 ROMs running on inspire?
like we will choose which one to boot at the boot-screen?
http://lifehacker.com/5826050/how-to-dual-boot-multiple-roms-on-your-android-phone
BTw and not to be snarky, this has been covered to hades and back. Search dual boot Inspire.
You can install boot manager for free from the Market/Play Store. It installs the 2nd rom on your SD card and allows you to dual boot between the 2 roms.

Forgive me if this has been asked already but my searches only turned up results prior to the bootloader unlock. I'm not sure if those methods work anymore so I figured I'd check here.
I'm loving the CM10 nightlies, but would like to run stock as an alternate. I was going to try Boot Manager but it doesn't appear to support the S3. Has anyone tried it? If Boot Manager is not an option, are there any others that are known to work?

im also interested in dual booting i havent seen anything after the kexec though
I was able to find some work done on the S3 before it was unlocked but can't find anything current for the S3 and dual booting. Has anyone made any progress or is anyone working on it? There are so many awesome roms out there but it's nice to have a daily driver and a slot(s) for test roms.
Boot Manager is an incredible app that I bought when I had the Nexus. Unfortunately, it seems development is dead.

I don't think the partition that is used for roms is big enough for two

Boot Manager allows multiple roms to boot from the sd card. It works for the Nexus just wasn't updated for the S3. Seems like an experienced developer could write an app or recovery that allows roms to install and run from sd card. If locked Moto phones can do it (Safestrap), surely ours can.

Moto's rom storage location is different than ours, the entire internal or at least most of the internal is able to be written on using safe strap. And besides, restoring a nandroid backup takes the same amount of time as safe strap does to transfer the data between the 2 partitioned rom's.

You got me there. I'd throw out BootMenu but we don't have a Webtop partition, so I know that'd be shot down.
So our only hope (app wise) at this point is Boot Manager? The app description says the only Samsung phone it works on is the Nexus. Anyone know what's different about it compared to the S3 (in terms of boot partition)?
Here's a link to some Vzw S3 dual boot development but there hasn't been any activity in it since late July - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774795.

Former Boot Manager Addict in Recovery
Honestly, when i had my DX, i was a boot manager addict! you couldn't tell me there was anything wrong with it.
however...
used to have leeeetle minor bugs i had to live with due to how Boot Manager worked. and flashing themes was a pain in the A$$
today i'm in recovery, but still a flash-aholic. all i do now is just flash a rom, get it just how i like it, make a nandroid of it, and can flash back and forth all day.
tired of Synergy, flash TWRP, click on restore, and walla, i've got Paranoid Android up and running... tired of that, and next its Beans Custome Rom 11, and so forth. only annoying thing is that when you add to it after you make a nandroid, and dont upgrade, then you have to go back and add the changes.
but trust an old addict, this is waaaaaay better, and not much slower than Boot Manager!

I agree that backup/restoring isn't THAT bad but I just miss being able to boot to random roms without much hassle. I had 6 current roms on my Nexus. With BootMenu (not to be confused with Boot Manager) on my Maxx, changing between system 1 (phone rom) and system 2 (webtop rom) was literally as fast as rebooting. Just reboot and a menu came up to boot 1st, 2nd, or recovery.
I'm not complaining about my S3 by any means (best phone I've had to date) I just feel pretty sure it IS possible to dual (or multi) boot if some one with the knowledge took the challenge. Quad core, NFC, battery changeable, 4.8" screen, fully functional Jelly Beanable, LTE piece of hardware booting CM, AOPK, MIUI, TW, AOSP, [you name it] with the click of a button. Gets me excited just thinking about it. Wish I know enough to take the project on myself.

I would be interested as well in dual boot.

BootManager will not work with Samsung devices that are not listed because of the way Samsung handles the boot partition.

I pointed that out on the last page. Do you know WHAT is different about the boot partition that it only works on the G'Nex and no other Sammy phones? I entered my device in manually in Boot Manager just to see if it'd work but it couldn't back up my phone rom (because of boot image).
Unless something is incredibly special about the G'Nex, perhaps the app could be adapted for other Sammys.

can we load multiple os in android phone with dual boot just like as pc?
yes you can. hd2 is good example
yes. but definitely wont work with just any phone.
best example is the almighty htc hd2.
There's a multi boot app, which allows you to boot and switch between roms on your SD card.
It doesn't work with all phones.

wow, I shocked!
I thing it depends on the kernel and the recovery. For example, siyah kernel supports multi boot

hey guys I picked up a gt-p3113 at a pawn shop yesterday for 50 dollars...
I am not new to xda but new to this device...
anyway I have been reading in here since then downloaded odin and used cf auto root to root the device. found mobile odin lite and want to try flashing cm10.1 on it.
where I am getting hung up at is in the tutorial it says install clockwork recovery . I believe this is kinda like a loader for recovery?
I went to the website to download cwm and realized quick I didntknow what I was doing. which file do I get and how do I flash it?
or am I wrong in my understanding that I even need this.
I apologize I am aware it is all here somewhere and I have read alot on it I just dont want to destroy this device. unfortunately since this device has had alot of work done xda is overwhelming. I am sure in a few weeks I will be caught up
thanks guys any help is appreciated.

one more question... battery life on this device drains quick in comparison to our kindle fire hd. will another rom help hattery life? if it makes it worse I am relatively content with stock.
I just feel like I bought a computer at walmart and have a bunch of software and processes I do not want. instead of a clean install.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda app-developers app
Well for one, i'd use the desktop version of Odin, if you look on the development section, you should be able to find , for ex, Cf Autoroot, to flash via odin, and after that, flash an odin package for CWM recovery, remember to do a full NANDROID backup after this, just incase.. they're both extremely quick and simple to do, but you must follow each guide to the very last detail, as any mistakes can lead to a $50 paperweight, btw, awesome deal on your tab, 50 is pretty sweet! On the topic of ROMs, there are handfuls of ROMs built off of stock source, either debloated roms, or roms like Sungsonic, there are also Kernels/boot images, if its stock source, keep to stock intended kernels and boot images, as CM or AOKP kernels WILL NOT WORK.

thank you I am thinking the nightly is what I want for cm10.1
just did a backup using cwm this nandroid thing I will have to google
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda app-developers app
you'll be able to go into cwm recovery and make a full backup of your current rom, kernel etc...and remember, before flashing, factory reset in cwm, clear cache and dalvik, flash ROM, clean cache and dalvik again, the flash any other enhancements, personally, I'm using AOKP Milestone 1, 4.1.2, AOKP kernel, overclocked, my device can handle 1.42ghz (1420mhz) stable, i have it undervolted to save battery, and have my gpu overclocked when i game or bench, also using Beats Audio/Noozxoide to get some sickkkk sound out of the Wolfson DAC, never had ANY device that compares to the sound quality in this thing Happy flashing!

Sorry for keeping coming back to questions.... so ive been reading the cm10.1 nightly thread and it says boot into cwm then flash cm10.1 and then gapps.zip do I do this from odin or cwm
edit says move it to sdcard so cwm.... still tad confused ill look n yotube for a video explaining it
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda app-developers app
Just use cwm.

PM me if you need help
Its okay , you have to do this in CWM, you can download the google apps package for your version of android from Goo.im, make sure you get the package thats for your version of android, then place the zip files of the rom and gapps in your microSD or internal, if using internal, flash zips from sd in cwm, if in microsd, flash zips from external in cwm, start with the rom, factory reset, clear cache, advanced, clean dalvik, flash the rom, clean cache and dalvik again, flash the gapps, clean cache and dalvik, then reboot, ALWAYS leave your tab after it boots for 10 minutes , after 10 minutes, reboot it, leave it for another 5, reboot again, then use, this gives the device time to do some first time running operations
Sent from my GT-P3113 using XDA Premium HD app
okay files downloaded, device is at 50 percent batt life so will charge first, worst case scenario I should be able to flash using odin back to stock corect? I have no desire to reflash kernels from stock at this point... usually I take my time and do my homework better on these devices but this one fell into my lap. and well im impatient.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda app-developers app
As long asyou dont cause some freak of nature hard brick that stops you from entering download mode on your tab (holding power and vol down) you'll be able to use stock image from Sammobile to return to stock, you can flash it using odin , and dont worry, i had my tab for 3 days and it already pretty much had chrome spinners, i was impatient too, came from an Acer Iconia A100, so its a little learning curve, but overall, pretty good
