i've check the link that you gave, tried to restore it using the steps there but no luck blank IMEI
the thing that i wanna test is trying to restore it using nandroid backup. that's my last option if that also fails then its a hardware problem.
I hope someone will lend me their nandroid backup.

Can any one tell me what i did wrong?
I used a I727UCALC4_OneClick package to flash my at&t i727 to android 4.0.3. For some reason my home button and search button did not work so i said to return back to stock.
I flashed the phone with SGH-I727-UCKJ2-k0nane thru ODIN to return to stock 2.3.5 . I then tried to do a OTA update to 2.3.6. The update downloads and starts installing , reboots the phone and fails to finish.
Any help please ? Thanks
I tried doing this myself last night. Remember you will lose your root once taking it to 2.3.5, so re root using Odin, then, reboot. Then follow the root instructions as outlined by user k0nane here at xda. Then get into clockwork mod recovery mode and restore to the backup version you did of 2.3.6...much easier process than trying to flash stock. Hope that helps.

You might have renamed the backup, the backup might be corrupt, or you did the backup with a different version of cwm than you are trying to restore it with.
If this helps I got here a copy of my mhx lite 2.3.6 I made before going to 4.0.3

Also did you flash the right modem as well?
Correct me if I'm wrong but cwm doesn't backup the modem as I recall

Its mhx superlite 3.1 but if the rom will work you can later on flash whatever you want. Atm you seem to be stuck with an unusable phone so anything is better.
Go to sammobile.com
make an account
go to firmware section
type i727 in the box
scroll down and download the tar
extract with 7zip
Flash in odin
Then drink beer and such
i was able to flash tru cwm a att rom that worked. Everything works ok now.
It is possible to transfer my data from the backup into this working rom ?
Just flash modem. To match firmware....

pretty risky if the backups corrupt anyway... but you can try (i would make a back up first)
I have been using android since a yr or more on my xu. I never created a nandroid coz sony fw was mere 300mb and i used flashtool to flash stock... bt I got a s2p now wid stock fw as large as 750mb which I cant download.
I want to try cm10.1 bt I have no stock rom flashable via odin
So if make a nandroid backup now.. so can I restore it to get back to stock when m on cm10.1?
you mean backup with cwm? yes. make backup, flash cm, if you do not like cm or somethin went wrong with installation restore the backup with cwm and you are back to stock. but do not delete the backup.

I had the same problem. Here's what I did:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42000557&postcount=91
I've already updated the rooting guide, check it out
I went into recovery, wiped data/factory reset and cleaned my caches then went to restore my nandroid for mb1, but it said the md5 failed and couldn't restore it, so I rebooted the phone and now it's back to complete stock/unrooted. Is there a way to fix it and be able to restore my nandroid, or do I have to start fresh? I lost all my pics and apps, it's there a way to restore those?

What rom were you on originally before your nandroid restore failed? Can you find any of your pics using a File Explorer? Lastly, how did you verify that you have lost root: did you look in /system/xbin/su or download an app such as Root Checker to verify you have lost root?
I was only stock rooted. Was on the newest md3, and like I said I did all the wipes in CMW then went into restore backup and selected my nandroid of mb1 and pressed ok, but it said the md5 was mismatched. Couldn't figure anything out so I did a reboot and it was like a new phone.....no superuser, titanium backup wouldn't get SU permissions and it would only boot into stock recovery. Plugged the phone into laptop and saw the nandroid on the sd card but not sure how to reroot and fix the nandroid

The best I could suggest if you are truly unrooted is to re-root and unlock using Open1your1eyes0 thread in the dev section. I'm not well versed in the md5 mismatching for a nandroid failing unless you changed the name of the nandroid after it was completed?

Yes I just checked with rootchecker and it says I lost root. I did rename the CWM nandroid, but I've done that before on my wife's phone and it restored fine.. I'm downloading the files from the thread you listed above as I write. I had Tibu installed before, so that should be enough to restore my lost apps/pics/etc once I Odin back and gain root again?

Yea, try not to do that with CWM. I suggest using TWRP if you want to name backups since it allows you to do so natively. TWRP and CWM nandroids are not compatible so if you do switch, I suggest (if you can) restore your VRBMB1 nandroid using CWM, make a new backup using TWRP, then delete the entire CWM folder from your phone/sdcard.
I haven't done this before but you could see if this process works for you. If not, then start fresh via Odin and use TWRP so this doesn't happen again.
If you can still see the files using a file explorer, then TB should be able to locate and restore them if you know how to make it scan the entire device.

I realize that now! Going through the Odin process now, then custom recovery and unlocking the bootloader. By glancing at that link, it says that using different versions of CMW causes this issue. Go figure. Ugh

TWRP recovery creates a backup of EFS.
If u have a twrp bacup, try restoring EFS from there.

Yes, assuming you backed up properly. If you didn't you'll flash a blank image.
It also depends the reason why you lost data.
