This is something unusual. I backup whole rom with help of recovery many times without any problem. But when today I tried to backup through recovery then everything goes well but suddenly at the end message appeared that 'cache backup failed'. I was using xda bam v14 fix kernel. I thought may be there is some problem with kernel so I flashed UC team kernel v15. Tried same but same error occured. Finally I tried advance backup option so that I can backup only 'cache' but nothing happened. I am experience such bug first time I have attached log for more reference. Please take a look guys so that where my phone is going in a wrong way.
Anybody is kind enough to reply on this topic???

My backup is 1.8gb anyway it was just a possible error, no need to seem so offensive. I would just flash a few different kernels to check. U flashed one only, right?

I tried that. But still I am getting same error. Wiered thing is that system, data etc all parts get backed up successfully but only cache backup gets failed. Also I tried 2 kernels i.e. bam v14 cf root kernel & UC kernel v15. Same error on both kernels.

I had this same problem before, so I reflashed the same ROM and the backup went well. I think that I had some corrupt files. Maybe that'll help.

reformatting cache partioin only??? How to do that??? Will I loose any data???
EDIT :- Ok I did reformatting cache formatting through recovery but still no change. Now I am getting very serious problem. I tried to flash DDLF2 rom through mobile odin. But flashing is not getting done. App says its flashing firmware & after that nothing happens. I think some system files has corrupted. Once I get a pc I will flash from .pit file to DDLF2 rom. But still I wonder because of what this has happened

Logs seems fine - just stops where it shouldn't. Looks like a corrupted flash block. Hope the .pit-flash solves it.

once i had same problem and tried everything like you did but no way. i flashed rom again and etc. then it worked.
Try doing "advanced backup" with which you can backup each partition separately. You'll get an error at some point, but continue to the next anyway. Next, flash a clean ROM and do a factory reset. Finally do "advanced restore" but skip the partition that gave an error and restore what you can using titanium backup (restore from nandroid).
Cheers

i've check the link that you gave, tried to restore it using the steps there but no luck blank IMEI
the thing that i wanna test is trying to restore it using nandroid backup. that's my last option if that also fails then its a hardware problem.
I hope someone will lend me their nandroid backup.

There is a first build for Our Galaxy Young (Also the dual Sim variant).
I've managed to get working the EXTERNAL SD Card but the Backup mode is still corrupt.
If You want to get the root mode, flash the supersu.zip via Recovery !
Flash recovery via Odin
To download the Recovery and the Supersu zip, get to my FTP
Good luck !

Hello,
I'm still wondering how to do this without odin.
Why the tar.md5?
I can use heimdall, http://www.webupd8.org/2012/06/heimd...t-runs-on.html
because I use linux. However, why is it an .md5 file? heimdall can only work with a .tar.gz file.
Is there a way to do it with recovery after copying a file to /cache?

Everyone,
I would caution against androsamace's howto. It installed CWM on my phone but you can no longer use the phone/get into jellybean. It only boots to recovery. I even tried wipe data/factory reset and it still only boots to CWM. I'm trying to get to where I can actually USE My phone again as we speak.

It can be done now, in this moment, without this Backup modes in CWM ( But if You really want to backup all the rom, use the CWM from androsamace, I think doing a backup via Titanium Backup is sufficient), coz we have Odin all the time to flash a stock rom.
Problem is there, that I can't install Ubuntu on my laptop along Windows 8..... And my Personal PC with linux and all the needed stuff is waiting in Italy, but I can't bring it here, no money..

I'm making this thread so we can all put our heads together to figure out what we can do, what ways there are to get back to stock.. Just things people have done to restore back to stock.
Everyone having this issue people post here please as it will keep the Q&A thread clean.
At the moment I am encounter the issue, although I am not in a bootloop. I had a Official Firmware 4.4.2 installed that had been updated to 4.4.4.
Everything was working properly, but I flashed the latest CM11 Nightly. I had forgotten to backup my stock.
When I try to restore a stock firmware it Fails on partition so I didn't Want to chance flashing anything else in case I bricked my phone
At the moment my phones living off a CM11 TWRP backup which isn't ideal :/

I can share a 4.4.2 cmw backup but my net is slow as fk. I successfully downgraded using cmw backup.I think there is some problem with the mount points of the stock . I had this prob of not able to format or write using recovery and fastboot in my Chinese s4 clone but I formatted all partitions using the flash tool that I had and than I was able to flash ROM. It occurred because I had given wrong mount points in the update script of the ROM that I had previously flashed

Hi. I have an S5 16 GB. I am planning to flash other country's stock rom to solve the problem I'm having. But there is a problem. I have CWM recovery and the size for backup is too much. I don't have enough that space on my sdcard. Is there a way to backup to PC via CWM recovery? Or other way?
But, if you flash a stock firmware with Odin you change the recovery to the stock recovery so the backup will be useless
Sent from my ALCATEL ONE TOUCH 6040D using XDA-Developers mobile app
The obvious thing to do, would be to free some space. However if you can't, you could try installing TWRP recovery, which compresses the backups so they don't take that much space. Also, if ik not mistaken (but I may be) cwm allows you to save the backup to your internal storage. So if you have more free space available on your device, than your SD card and cwm allows to save your backups to the internal memory (at least TWRP does) you could make a backup, then transfer it to your PC. Then flash whatever you want to flash, then reinstall cwm (because it will be replaced from stick recovery) and finally tranfer the backup back to your phone

Understood. If flashing another country stock firmware solves my problem then I won't restore anything from my old firmware except musics, photos and videos. But if flashing another country stock firmware doesn't help to solve my problem either, then I could roll back to my old firmware and restore it. I think this will be OK. Of course I still need to find a way to backup to PC.

Flashing another country ROM didn't solve my problem either so I am going to use my old firmware.
I have a backup for my old firmware but I don't know how to proceed. Do I need to flash the old ROM first, and then recover via CWM recovery?
It's better if you first flash your stock firmware, then flash the CWM and finally flash the backup. You can do this only if your backup is in CWM backup format.
