[Q] Can't connect to 3G/H

Hi guys,
I've got my phone back after repair (they did a boardswap because of broken emmc chip.). Everything seemed fine, but it couldn't connect to mobile internet. I saw that there weren't any APN settings so I called Vodafone and they gave me the right settings. After configured everything correctly it could connect, but it only could connect sometimes and if it did it was only G or E connection.
I'm currently running MIUI rom and with it you can easily configure it that it only uses 2G network. While using this internet ALWAYS works. When using 3G preferred, internet barely works.
So is there an option I am not seeing or did they give me a broken motherboard (and is there way to check this)?
Help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like its only configured to use 2G, so on a Stock (sense) ROM like mine you would need to set the
Settings->Wireless & network->Mobile networks->Network Mode = GSM/WCDMA auto
Otherwise you could try the debug mode by typing this into your PHONE *#*#4636#*#* the full number which should take the phone into debug mode where you find similar settings

Are you sure that your network are not having a problem with 3g themselves?
can you use another phone, same network to prove that the 3g network in your area is working correctly?
Otherwise sounds like an APN issue? could you take it into a vodafone shop?
Have you tried a Hard reset and clean new setup?

I have perfect connectivity using the same SIM on my xperia x1. Hard resetting doesn't seem to do the trick. I think i'll take it to the vodafone shop (don't hope i need to send it in for repair AGAIN)

It may have come back with old stock/unsuitable radio. Tried changing that?

The radio was the correct one, BUT it seemed to have fixed the problem itself... I was in the Vodafone shop and I was explaining the problem and there it was doing it correctly... Quite emberassing but i'm glad i've got a fully working phone.

3G internet does not work - although it does say H

My HTC Desire S seems to be connected on the Internet on 3G (H) but nothing comes through. The 2 arrows also blink but the connectivity does not seem to take place.
If i turn WIFI on it works and when i switch off WIFI - the internet get stuck
I have done hard reset, restored to factory settings and problem persists.
I tried the sim card in another phone the and internet seems to work there on 3G suggesting it is not a network or sim issue.
I wonder if there is any setting that needs to be rectified.
Any idea?

what rom/kernal are you using?

You've already tried most of things that I'd normally suggest, so don't think that I can help very much.
Sounds like it could be APN issue (which I now little about), where do you live and what network are you on? As this will help others to possibly assist further.
Does your network provider have the function where they can send your phone network settings, if so possibly try this?

I'm on three and live in London, UK.

Sounds like the stock (standard - out if the box) phone in which case call 3 or take it into a shop, not that there likely to be able to help but...

does 3 UK use 900 / 2100 band for 3g?
if it doesn't you may have to change to a different provider

HTC Sensation dropping calls

My phone dropping calls and say missed call when I try to answer. One more thing when deny call somethimes continue ring two more times and then stop. Whats the problem ?

I tried many roms,kernels,mods and fw. I didnt have this problem before I rooted my phone. I use ARHD 6.2.1. now. problem still exist.

It is cause you are using the wifi calling it has bugs and drops calls it also all ways runs in the background even when wifi is off I suggest unistalling it via titanium backup or at least turning it off when making calls

I think that didnt install WiFi calling, it happens when receiving call and when try to answer it show like I answered but cant hear anything and after 3-4 seconds sat missed call. One more thing,when I want to deny call, phone keep ring 2 more thimes and than stop. It happen ocasionally. This isnt over wifi,but normal GSM calls.

I have only had those problems with wifi calling and it is included on ARHD and is on by default you will see a lil blue icon in status bar if it is one , otherwise you might have a faulty device or bad reception where you live cause I have not had it or seen this issue about the phone

It couls also be the sim, try yours in a differnt phone and see if the issue stays with the sim or not

I read that some users have this issue too, but couldt find solution

I have the same problem with ARHD 6.2.1
My workaround is to disable 3G mode. It seems that the phone prefers weak 3g cells over 2g cells with good signal strength.
Install one of the GSM Monitors from market. If your signal strentgh ist -100dBm or more, phone calls get unstable. After switching to 2g mode (Settings - Mobile Network - Network Mode - GSM only) I have -75 - -90dBm now and more available cells than before.
Phone Calls are stable now.
Before that I tried to downgrade to another radio but no luck. I never had this problem with ARHD 3.6.8 - 3.6.13 that I used before.

Are you using wifi calling cause I only get dropped calls if I use eifi calling I unistal it right away every time plus it eats battery even when not on

No, it happens with gsm calls, I turned off 3G and still happens.

You might have a faulty phone or case the antenna in the cover may not be connecting right if you have T-Mobile you send it in for warranty they are pretty good about that up to three times in the first year and its free

HTC sensation dropped calls
hello,
i am new in ths forum. i got my HTC sensation Z710e a few days ago. it was the best until i upgraded it to ICS 4.0.3.
now i have the same problem same as Imperatorpg.
in my area, only 2G is available(no WCDMA,3G what so ever.....)
i havenot unrooted my phone yet.
i havenot used any customised ROM yet(and dont want to...unless there is any specific solution....)
anyone got any solution ????

i am having the same exact problem as Imperatorpg. send it to HTC for repair . received with the same issue i am going to change my SIM card and see if it makes any difference, i cant think of any fix

Did you guys purchase you handset through a mobile carrier in your region, or purchase it online from another country?
If it's the latter, you may need to look into flashing a more appropriate radio for you region.

Mobile network doesn't work anymore...

Hey Sensation community !
Since 2 days my mobile network stopped working, I tried ALOT of "solutions" which I found here but all of them didn't help at all...I even flashed a new rom + fireware, radio, etc...
I used the search function before I started this thread but I only found little threads with like 3-5 replys and they weren't even usefull - even outdated.
So to be more detailed, my mobile network icon pops up nomally after turning it ON but only the upload arrow is filled which means if I open the browser or any app it won't work cause there's actually no connection to the internet.
I checked my APN which is fine. Most of the people say : Fix your APN and it should be fine. - Great -_-
Phone informations:
HTC Sensation
ROM: Android Revolution HD 6.7.2 by mike1986
Adroid 4.0.3
HTC Sense 3.6
I'd appreciate it if somebody could help me fixing this annyoing issue.

Nope, as I said, I even wiped my phone new rom, new firmware, new radio and new kernel.

I'm having the same issue, flashed cm9 last night, everything was fine and working then this afternoon at about 2 my phone says no service. I put the sum card in a different phone and it still didn't work. I'm T-Mobile UK but phone is normally connected to T-Mobile/orange network

They all fine.
One more thing to say.
If I'm using "GSM only" the internet works but it's hekka slow -_- As soon as I switch to GSM / WCDMA auto "H" shows up only with the upload arrow on and the internet stops working.

Guess nobody knows how to fix this crap.... :/

I tried putting the sim in a different phone and it still didn't work. Might be a sim card issue or Tmobile are having trouble, for me anyway

I spent 4 days trying to diagnose this same kind of issue once only to find out that my data plan had been accidentally deleted from my account.
2 minute phone call and everything was working again.

As I thought my problem was with my network provider. The phone seems to have reconnected to the network and I am receiving texts and calls again. Hope you get your issue sorted.

I can be pretty sure it's not the SIM cause I tested it on a UMTS/HSDPA Surf-stick and the internet works with it. It has to be the phone itself.

Yea, heard about that. But I'm from germany and my SIM works on a other device.

If I change my network mode to GSM only the internet works but you guys know, its terribly slow. As soon as I switch to WCDMA only the upload arrow is highlighted and nothing works... Hope somebody can help me out -_-

Tell me what you're doing to make your "H" network work.

I meant WiFi thethering. My mobile network works only, if i use it for WiFi tethering. As long as i use the mobile network only on the phone, it doesn't work...

And nope, that didn't worked for me... So my net is screwed up

4G lost

I've had this phone for a few months and I lost 4g on one of my first flashes. I've flashed a new rom almost daily sense then and have never gotten my 4g signal back. My 3g isn't too bad but I was wondering if anyone has a fix for this!? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Do you have IMEI? And what did you flash? CM 10.1 has data issues.

I do have imei. Everything works fine except for 4G

Oh and I've flashed almost every rom available they all have worked fine except for known bugs and 4g.

Try downloading the phone info app and checking to make sure your are on LTE and not cdma only

I have a similar problem, but much worse. I'm in South Korea and my phone ONLY uses 4g (no 3g or other options to check). After a failed rom and kernel flash, I nandroided back to stock but my 4g won't work, only wifi does. My Access Point Names says "LG U+" with "internet.lguplus.co.kr" underneath. There is no option to change it or edit it, just a radio button with no other options (is this is fine?). As for mmsc, I dont' know where that option is to change it, or if this is a problem (I was advised in another forum to change it's value).
As for the "Phone Info" app:
In Telephony, have a Device ID, my Network type is 3, Sim State 5, it shows I have a SIM operator and country, Serial Number Subscriber ID, etc. The only things that MAY be strange (I don't know what their original values should be) are that Call State, Data Activity and Data State are all 0 and my Network Operator Name, Network Operator and Network Country ISO are just blank. Even if I wanted to change any of these I have no idea how...
