Official Jelly Bean - Buglist - HTC One S

So I was THRILLED when my phone told me that I could download and install ANdroid 4.1.
Sadly, I experienced very visible and annoying bugs. I chatted with HTC support the other day and go a reply today. Guess what? They want me to send it to service. HA. HA.
Just want to confirm and see if any of you have ANY of the following bugs:
If I'm in a call and notification area get something new, the graphics are bugging (it gets a diagonal line through the notification line).
If you, for example, listen to music and have just sent an sms / tweet and changing track on the lock screen, the latest notification will flash in the notification line.
Lock screen disappeared (Related to TrueCaller. I have contacted them, but the bug was not in ICS)
Graphics not fluent at all (feels like Project Butter is missing) / Slightly slower than ICS
When you have an Exchange mailbox and set sync on "Push" and receive new mail, the phone notifies several times, sometimes twice and sometimes "reminds" every 5 minutes
If you get 2 sms immediately after each other from the same person, only the first sms will show. If you wait a while , the second pops up.
Messaging app crashes sometimes, just when you sent a message.
Of course I have done a factory reset after the update, but these bugs persist.

Defy MIUI 1.5.27 Bug

Hi friends, i'm tested MiUi Rom 1.5.27 for three days and i found some bug:
When i listen the music with miui music player, the phone after 20 minutes freezes screen. The only solution is to disconnect the battery from the phone!
The phone signal goes up and down and sometimes disappear!
If you find other bugs post here please!!!
thanks!
The sms FC bug is a huge one, they provided a link for the fix, but it did not work. It FC when you recieve a new message and message dissappears.
I don't get these force closes day to day. Not in normal replies and receiving. I have had it once and i know you get it if you select a contact in phonebook and choose send sms.
Man this Tom is highly unstable, the Rom earlier was pretty good with minur bugs.
False sector
Swyped by my Defy using CM-7 beta 6 with the XDA premium App
I had the same issue with the music player...happened three times while I was out running! I started a thread of my bugs on MIUIANDROID.COM in the Defy forum. I'm sure the bugs will be worked out (pray anyways)...but I hope soon as I'm loving this rom and all the sweet themes. All the different themes you can switch on the fly makes this phone completely different...it's like I get a new phone anytime I want
Right now I'm using zk buuf's theme...so friggin sweet!!! I liked the jeans one too by coolfire...all I can say is I LOVE MIUI and all these themes!
As for other bugs:
1. SMS notification tone randomly works, some times I've had the tone, other's not and just the led flashes.
2. If contact had multiple numbers, it only kept one when I synced and I lost the other numbers in that contact (e.g., kept mobile but lost home and office number).
3. This one's weird...I had wifi/gps/sync off, then dropped down notification bar and selected gps...wifi and sync turned itself on. It happened several times.
4. I downloaded the swype for gingerbread and it works great, however, when I restart phone, it reverts back to android keyboard and I have to go back into settings to select swype as default. Not a biggie, but annoying.
And not a bug...but does anyone have any idea if full screen camera/camcorder has been figured out (I've got infamous green lens).
everything is fine for me..at least for day to day use.. no fc at all..on miui since 4 days..
Bugs
Hi there,
Im on MIUI for 4 days now and I found a bug too:
-when the phone is locked and you recieve a call, sometimes "swipe down" does not work.
Beside that the translation to english wasnt done properly. I have chinese signs in the sms app and contacts left.
But Im very happy with MIUI. It looks and feels like Android should!
Where do you have Chinese characters as I don't find them in either app.
So don't be so quick to call them they work hard on translating.

I think I just figured out the music player crash problem. I am using setvsel and have the option checked for limit to vsel 1 on screen timeout. I disabled that option and have not had it freeze since. Do you have this option enabled by chance?

[Q] OTA 3.32.707.10 bugs (HTC Sensation only)

Hi all,
Did a OTA update recently for HTC Sensation
Currently software information are:
Android version: 4.0.3
HTC Sense version: 3.6
Software number: 3.32.707.10
Bugs discovered are:
1) when playing music in lock screen, clicking the previous or forward button for a few times will automatically pause the music. No effect with clicking the play button to resume the music. Have to unlock the screen, go into the music app, press the play button there. At the same time, there is a popup message which says: Your phone is up to date, There are no updates available for your phone.
This happens frequently and i am annoyed with it. Rebooting does not solve the problem. Unchecking the scheduled check option under settings > about phone > software updates does not help as well.
2) the native messages app that HTC notifications does not work when any sms are received even though the settings are done properly. No notification sound, no vibration, no notification preview even when options are checked under settings. Tried using Go SMS and Handcent SMS, the notifications work, but messages typed in the popup notification when not in the app itself does not send out the message at all. which means i have to open the app and go into the thread itself to type out the messages to send.
3) SMS problem again. I realised an earlier message that i sent in the morning has been resent again around midnight. When i scroll up the thread to look for the earlier message, it cannot be found. The message showed up as the last message sent. Check with the recipient, and they confirm they have received the same message again. Messages sent from random timing are picked and resent again. This is really annoying. I am spamming people without actually doing it.
Has anyone got the same problem?
Is there any solutions to it except doing a factory reset?
No confidence that doing a factory reset will correct these bugs.
Miss GB as there are no bugs at all.
Where is this being released?
oh FFS not another thread about HTC OTA bugs, there are already loads out there, why create an entirely new thread

WhatsApp - Notification issues

So I had a Note previously, WhatsApp worked perfectly fine.
I notice now that there are a lot of weird notification issues now. I ran some tests and this is what I've found.
Screen On - Clear all apps with Task Manager. Exit to home screen. Meaning, WhatsApp is not running in the background, not running at all. I use my girlfriends phone to send me 10 + messages. I get NO pushed messages, no notifications. Nothing happens. I then launch the app and see that I have 10+ unread messages under her name. I click to read the messages, and exit back to the home screen (either back arrow or home button). I send another message from her phone, and NOW I see the notifications.
Screen Off - (sleeping but app is still in the background) - I send a message from her phone, get NO push notification. But... as soon as I hit the power button to light up the screen (wake from sleep), I get the notification in the bar. I read the message, clear the notification bar.. then put the phone back to sleep. Same thing happens. While the screen is off, I get no push notifications until I turn on the screen.
Anyone having weird issues with WhatsApp? It can't be the app because it works perfectly normal on my Samsung Note. I'm thinking ICS broke it some how.
The notifications works fine for me with whatsapp. The only thing is that when I hit clear in the notification bar and haven't read the actual message, the notification will reappear again.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Same thing here just happened with me on my HTC ONE S , if screen if off and whatsapp is running i get no notification, however as soon as i press the power button immediately i get notified and the weird thing is the notification sound is the default ringtone while in whatsapp settings i have another tone set. Whatsapp was working fine. I tried reinstalling, force stopping, rebooting.
My phone is stock rom no root any help would be appreciated
EDIT (SOLVED): Disable Fast Boot under power options in settings, disabling it fixed my problem (Read it somewhere online)
I have problems with notifications when wifi is on. No problems w/out wifi
I have exact same issue on my Xperia Arc...with or without Wifi...I have ICS 4.0.3
I think it is phone independent issue...
i think you all should stop closing all apps from the task manager and everything would be fine.
you cant shut down all apps and then expect from them to work.
(at004 solution could help too)
Sorry to revive this thread, but I have a solution to the problem (I think) and I thought I might share it.
Some routers flag push messages as "Anonymous Internet Requests" which the NAT dismisses. This will effectively kill push and you'll only get your messages on the next sync.
To counter this problem you can forward the google push port to your phone.
You'll need a static IP for the phone. The port Google uses for push messages is 5228 on TCP.
Good luck with your problems!
ahh.. i got the notification problem.. there is no sound or vibrate for incoming whatsapp messages..
this happen affter i update the apps.. damn!

This happens on my brand new nexus 4
This used to happen way back when I first got my One X, but it is solved now. I thought it was because I had rooted and gone with a newer build, but I got a replacement One X stock with 2.20 and notifications work fine when screen is off.
Same issue in my nexus 4
I'm facing the same issue in my nexus 4.But this is applicable to the application which having the same properties of WhatsApp.For eg Viber.
When we are in the screen of Whats App and Viber i'm getting the notification otherwise not..
I also noticed one more thing unless we open the application the data notification in the signal bar is idle. I don't why its like that.Usually it should be always active.

Same here, with the same phone and running CyanogenMod 7.2.0.
Also seeking help on the same issue.
Seems there's no point to use this "instant" messager with this defect.
Go and complain with the makers of it as you have paid for it and using a custom ROM is 100% supported...
This is a users forum guys. If you install custom ROM some things may not work as on stock ROM.
We share experience and knowledge but not complaining about the product or demanding for a solution.
Go to WhatsApp website and tell them about the issue. I doubt they read this post.

I haven't had this kind of issue on my Nexus 5 - the only issue I had was (on a Note 3) after the big update, Hangout conversations were laggy in animations (upon sending a message, receiving or even opening the keyboard) and couldn't find a fix.
I don't know what's causing your issue but what I did on the Note to 'fix' it was uninstall the update. Maybe this will make it easier for you to use? The only problem I had with uninstalling the update was it doesn't include "merged conversations" but to most people this is no big deal.
Go into the Play Store > My Apps > Hangouts - and hit "Uninstall" and it'll drop the update. You won't get the fancy green box around your sent messages, (both incoming and outgoing) are grey, but this increases the performance.
Hope this helps.
thanks.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and nothing.
the program works smooth and fast everywhere else... no lags.
only when finding a contact
When I previously posted, I was on Stock 4.4.4. Last night I flashed CM11 and have been using Hangouts and I had the same lag issue I described + your contact search lag. I went into the settings for Hangouts and unchecked the option to display my Google Voice information and after a reboot, I see no lag issues for me.
Maybe this helps?
Attached screen shots for ya
thanks for trying to help, btu I dont have google voice, thus I dont have this option to uncheck.
It's actually really annoying me.
Yeah, most people don't have Google Voice - it was the last option to try. Are you using a launcher and/or have you changed (via Developer Settings) the animation scales?
Sometimes these could play an effect, but why it would only be affected when you search for a contact via Hangouts is beyond me.
*Update* I'm learning this might just be a flaw with the version of Hangouts because my has the same delay again now.

Samsung Interface Not Updating

All,
First time poster, frequent visitor of XDA Forums. I've come across an odd issue that I don't know how to solve and I'm hoping some of you smarter than me folks can get me squared away.
I have a Galaxy S8+ from AT&T running Android 7.0 and Samsung Experience 8.1.
Problem:
I've recently noticed a delay or completely non-updating interface on my phone. It updates on occasion, but I can't determine what triggers an update. For example, I will pick up my phone from the desk and when I press the power button it shows the accurate time. When I unlock the device, the sense flip clock I use on the main home screen shows an earlier time (could be 30 minutes... could be a few hours). I don't believe it's just the Sense app because I noticed this issue where I checked a facebook messenger app that came and and when I closed the app, it still showed I had 1 notification. I went back in thinking I had another new message, but I didn't. So it was still hanging on to the notification. It happened a couple times with a text message as well. Most importantly, my calendar doesn't alert me prior to an appointment either, even though it's showing in my calendar and an alert is active. If I save an event, and exit, I can normally see the event appear on the on widget immediately as well... but that hasn't been happening. I have to press the widget to open it and confirm it is there (which it always is). Eventually it refreshes and shows up. But that delay is likely the reason why I'm not getting my alerts.
All of this did seem to happen after a recent update Samsung/AT&T pushed out but I don't know for sure. I tried clearing the cache from the boot menu but it doesn't seem there is wide success with that.
And perhaps I'm just not a good enough user, but everything isn't all backed up in the cloud so doing the factory reset to me is always a fairly large task as I have many things to manually transfer out and then back in. Not sure if there are great tools that help with this on a stock phone.
Samsung smart switch works wonders, the only thing that doesn't restore is passwords, you have to have and external SD card for it to work, or plug it in to a computer

That is not the issue. As mentioned, it's not just the clock it's multiple interfaces.

High level overview of issues...
I have the Ring Doorbell app. I get notifications after "live". Could be 5 minutes, could be 1 hour... or possibly not at all. I have the app setup on my wife's iPhone and she gets them immediately. If I restart the phone, I will get notified right away (it's like it runs the app again and then I get the notification). Keep in mind, this is AFTER i disabled the battery optimization feature for the Ring app.
I also notice it occasionally with texting. I won't have any text notification in the notification panel, nor will my messaging icon have a little red circle indicating a message is there. But if I open the app, a specification conversation will have a red circle indicating a new text is unread.
All of this is leading me to believe the Samsung UI itself is not updating and therefore notifications that actually have arrived (from whatever app), are not displaying because of the UI and not because of their own delay.
Because of this concern I have turned off battery optimization for "System UI", "Themes", and "TouchWiz Home". I have not seen any change however.
[Solved]
I was able to determine by various other threads around the web (thought for sure I'd find it here, but I didn't) that the culprit might be the Google app. Supposedly it was fixed in some prior release, but it's not on my Galaxy S8+ w/ AT&T.
Once I disabled the Google app all the odd issues with notifications and clock interfaces and app icons not updating went away. The downside to disabling it is that I lose the Google Assistant functionality which stinks but otherwise there is no impact to using the phone. I re-enabled it at a later date and it worked fine for a few days and then started acting up again. Once I disabled it, the problems all disappeared. Clearly Google app is to blame.
