Hello,
i have a problem to flash my phone (LG P720 3D Max) with CM 10. Someone told me i need the official cmd for that ROM but from where?
In ROM Manager i can only choose P990 and P920.
This is my problem:
handy root... check
cwm for lg p 720 (check?)... (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1998031) or (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889486) both same problem
download the latest CM10... check
copy to sd card (intern)... check
3d butten + sound down for recovery mode... check
but if i start the zip file. it shows:
finding update package...
opening update package...
installing update...
asserd failed: getprob ("ro.product.device") == "p720" ll getprop ("ro.build.product") == p720
E: Error in /sdcrad/cm-10-20130107-nightly-p720.zip

Someone a idea?
50+ Views and no Idea? Just want JB for my 3d Max.... now. :crying:
Look in your build.prop on ur phone and see if you have the line
ro.product.device "p970" or similar. If you dont or it says something else and you are sure you have a p970 open the cm10 zip with winrar or 7zip (do not extract!!), go to META-INF/com/google/ android and edit the updater-script. Do not use simple notepad!! Use notepad++. Delete the first line in the script and anything similar to that and save it. Now it should work

take this one, works on my Optimus 3d Max P720 fine; its 6.0.2.x. Had with the other ones the same Status 7 like you...
It is from one xda post, but dont ask me where (its for the p720), cant find it anymore.
ww w. drop box. com /s/ y65207jw5nsr16l/ recovery.img
JB: GPS (for me important) and 3d (Would be nice) does not work, so my Phone is back on 2.3.6...
Have fun
If you still didn't manage to install it i will help you:
first you need winrar and notepad++ on your pc, so install it
after that you go into the archive of your favorite CM10 rom and search for the META-INF folder
enter the folder, then enter com, google, android and there will be two files
open the updater-script file with notepad++ and delete the first twió lines till the word mount, save the file
winrar will ask you if you want to refresh the file in the folder, press yes
now you can install it
you will face the problem that gapps won't get installed, so you have to push the files with es explorer or root explorer and give the files the necessary rights, if you need help for that step just tell me
peace
EDIT: didn't see that lazar already told you the right instructions haha
Nedd you help!!!
sorry to bother almost two years later, but Might tell me step by step how to install the gapps for cyanogenmod p720 with? please???
hi

Once again let me preface this by saying that I am a Noob. However, I have been swapping roms for the past couple of months with no major problems. The one annoyance is every time I install a new rom I have to go through the hassle of reloading all my favorite apps.
I wanted to know how to make a update.zip folder that will actually load on my Google Ion for my apps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If you know how to sign a ROM its no Problem, if you dont ...
Lol, that would be a big "No."
You would have to be able to sign .zip files for it to work, You could have your favorite apps on the side so you could open your rom on the computer and add them in the apps folder.
Your prolly better off installing them individually because some roms (mostly skins) wont run with some apps although this is VERY rare!
is it not possible to resign i.e. the cyanogen rom after adding a few apps?

I am new to the signing of roms but from what i can see it is possible and seems to be a little easier than I originally thought. I just started with signing last night and was able to take parts of three different roms put them together and was able to sign it and sucessfully loaded and installed with no problems to my mytouch. Just to give an example I used the bootscreen from Qteks rom along with the transparent lockscreen from evils sense rom and combined them with wikeds rom cause I liked his icon pack. signed it and loaded on first shot with no issues.

How To Theme Develop for Windows For Dummies in 10 easy steps (( no your really not a dummy its just an easy name for a how to lol))
well i'm going to give this a shot in the dark on how to create this how to be as easy as possible
1st
download these files if you don't already have them
JAVA
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
download the JDK
Winrar
http://rarlabs.com/rar/wrar380.exe
and Auto-sign.zip
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?uwzjjydnm2r
2nd
Download my included Auto-sign files.
what it contains.
the Test keys file..
and an update.zip file
and a batch file i created called auto-sign to make things easier to sign
3rd
after you have downloaded my Auto-sign
then you extract it to where ever you want.
4th.
use the update.zip included if your a Beginner it includes my windows 7 theme .. i edit so many files that it's easier to tell what does what and whats goiing to go where. now open that zip file DON'T EXTRACT just open it using winrar..
5th
When it is open go to Framework.. and open Framework-res.apk
NOW IF THE APK. POPS UP AND SAYS IT CANT OPEN BLAH BLAH SELECT A PROGRAM AND THEN SELECT WINRAR.
6th
Once you open Framework-res.apk KEEP THIS WINDOW AND UPDATE.ZIP WINDOW OPEN!!
then just extract the whole Res Folder to where ever you like this makes it easier to see what files you wish to edit.. most of the files will be in the folder called Drawable
7th
open up your favorite photo editor .. i use photoshop along with 90% of the people who Graphic Design... Edit your pictures Remember a file with a .9 can mess up your phone so edit those carefully.. and save what ever pictures you have
8th
Now drag the whole Res Folder .. back into the Framework-res.apk
now your update.zip file is going to say files has been changed to framework-res blah blah do you wish to save it . click yes .. now your framework has been updated you can close everything out
9th
go to the Auto-sign folder.. and open Auto-sign this will now sign your update.zip .. and rename it to update_sign.zip .. now just delete your old update.zip.. rename update_signed.zip to update.zip
10th
put it on the root of your memory card.. reset using green call + menu + end
then hold home and end .. until the recovery mode shows up .. then press Alt+S and hope your device isn't bricked
Disclaimers
I'm not responsible if your brick your device.. but i will help to the best of my abilty and if i can't help i'm sure XDA will
i don't sign every file in my update.zip i just sign update.zip .. and hey it works lol..
For ADP or RC 8 versions .. just download your favortie ADP theme or RC 8
put it in the Auto-sign folder.. and rename it to update.zip if it isn't already then just follow my steps

adb install D:\android\install\apps\de.android_telefonie.appmanager.apk
adb install D:\android\install\apps\MyBackupPro.apk
adb shell
reboot
and i do it when the setup wizard starts so when it reboots my apn and wireless are installed
here is the one twisted made... its simple and eazy... btw when I was getting sick of restoring all my apps every time I flashed a new rom, I searched for it and learned how to do it without posting once... but thats just me
download incremental here
http://twistedumbrella.slackdev.com/Incremental.zip
Back your apps up as an update in case you do a wipe using this:
Use Incremental_original.zip
Back all the apps up you want.
Open the archive and replace the apps in the data/app directory.
Sign the archive like a regular update and place in root of SD card.
Flash the update you want. When finished, flash Incremental.zip
Reboot the phone and both the update and apps will be installed.
to learn how to sign files look at this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4721739
You can avoid the hassle easily by going apps to sd. After that, any rom that enables apps to sd (almost every rom) will automatically have your apps installed upon first boot.

lol have you noticed this forum? i guess better late than never...
as every other post says "this should be in general" or "this should be in Q&A"
but then again I cant say Ive ever seen a clean forum... sad
Also if your gonna say "this should be [where ever]" you shouldn't also provide an answer to the initial question... What does that teach? Post where ever you want because you'll still get an answer? That doesn't help your cause.
I looked and searched everywhere for this, can someone please get me a flashable version of the stock black on white splash screen?
I second this notion.
Don't remember where I grabbed the converter. I had a frantic evening before taking my no working Evo to Sprint and it was not easy to find.
Inside the zip is the original flashable file.
Thank you, I love you.

Can you give me regular flashing instructions?
I there a way to get this in a pc36img.zip?
I think you're just gonna have to find a Windows computer.
Use the instructions in the "white on black" thread. Just change the filename to what's in this zip.
Thanks Guys

change hboot img
So I know his thread has been inactive for a bit, but after searching and reading for literaly hours ... I am still having issues trying to flash a custom splash screen to my Evo.. I got it to go once but have no idea how I did it.
Now I have the second EVO and want to change its screen but again no luck.
I am using flashboot but it keeps giving me the " failed " message.
Thanx for ANY help with this.
Gregg
In a zip file
You can just rename the image to splash1.img and put it in a zip file with an associated text file. Here's the Android HTC screen from above.
Boot holding Volume down and Power down and answer yes to install.
I just installed it on my EVO via the zip file. It is a lot simpler that way to me.
Note the zip file is PC36IMG.zip, it is different for different Android phones. Been beating my head against the wall for a while.
Thanks,
Coty
thanx how did you do this ive tryed everthing in the threads but cant get a pc36imgzip to work ive been trying to get that evo bullet eye candy into a pc36img think u can help me out?

Graphic
1. Locate the graphic you want to use and size it (480x800).
2. Download the conversion tool (evosplash.zip I think) from Post #3 of this thread.
3. Run the EVOSplash.exe converter, click open and load your image, then click convert.
4. The resulting file will be something like evosplash1.rgb565, in the same location as the original file.
5. Rename "evosplash1.rgb565" to "splash1.img"
Text
6. There must be a .txt file to identify the image and what to do with it, I've attached the file for an EVO - it must be named "android-info.txt" (You can just use the one attached.)
Zip
7. Create a zip named "PC36IMG.zip" (must be uppercase before .zip). There will be only 2 files in this zip. Add your graphic "splash1.img" and the text "android-info.txt" to this zip.
Install
8. Copy the zip to the root of your SDcard - I normally use the Disk Drive option, email works also.
9. Hold down the power button and shutdown the phone as normal.
10. Reboot - Hold the volume down button and the power button simultaneously until the hboot screen loads. It may take a second, but hboot will find the zip and ask if you want to install.
11. It will ask if you want to install - Volume up for yes
11. It will then ask, do you want to reboot, volume up for "yes" and your EVO reboots and your new boot screen is there.
I just created the PC36IMG.zip attached in about 2 minutes and tested the instructions on my EVO. It worked for me. Good Luck!!!
There are some awsome graphics on the XDA site for other model Androids. You can "Steal" their graphics and go through the process above to make an EVO version. Just be careful with the .txt file, EVO uses PC36IMG, others use a PC32IMG. EVO must be PC36IMG and the text file must contain the PC36000.... text file attached.

Hey to all,
this is a short tutorial how Devs but also "normal user" can add Arabic Support to a Custom Rom. (This process is usable for other Samsung smartphones, too).
1) Requirements
2) Downloads
3) How to apply Patch...
3.1) ...with Root Explorer
3.2) ...with a .zip Rom
1) Requirements
1. Your device needs to be rooted. (If you use the Root Explorer method)
2. Your Android version is 2.1 or newer
3. Your ROM needs to be deodexed. To find out if your installed ROM is deodexed, navigate to /system/framework on your phone. If you see a file called framework.odex then this patch will NOT work for you.
4. Your rom is NOT based on MIUI.
2) Downloads
1. Arabic Patcher (requires Windows)
2. If you use the Root Explorer method you will need Root Explorer (available in Market) or something comparable
If something goes wrong using this method reply and i´ll help you
Author of this tool is madmack! Link to his homepage
3) HowTo apply the patch
3.1) ...with Root Explorer
1. Download Arabic Patcher and extract it
2. Pull /system/framework/framework.jar from your phone and place it in the subfolder called "input" that you extracted in step 1. If you’re not using a CyanogenMod ROM (like Stock I9003 Roms), then you’ll also need to pull /system/lib/libandroid_runtime.so from your phone and place it in subfolder input that you extracted in step 1
! If you’re interested in getting arabic shaping in the Browser, pull file /system/lib/libwebcore.so from your phone and place it in subfolder input as well !
3. Double click on commands.exe. Do not close the black cmd screens that will pop up. Once the patch is done, you should get a patched framework.jar in the subfolder output.
4. Put file output/framework.jar in your phone at /system/framework/
5. Put file output/libandroid_runtime.so in your phone at /system/lib/
6. Put file output/libicuuc-arabic.so in your phone at /system/lib/ This is extremely important, failing to place this file will result in a boot loop of your deivce
7. If file exists: Place file output/libwebcore.so in your phone at /system/lib/
8. If file exists: Place file output/lib__bcore.so in your phone at /system/lib/
Also included, the Aljazeera fonts in fonts. You can place these in /system/fonts and reboot Sometimes permissions and xml data doesn’t get updated correctly resulting in corrupted data entries. If you receive a bunch of Force Closes after a reboot, you’ll need to Factory Reset.
3) HowTo apply the patch
3.2) ...with a .zip Rom
1. Download Arabic Patcher and extract it
1.1 Download the Rom you want to patch
2. Extract the .zip of your Rom and search for /system/framework/framework.jar. Pull it and place it in the subfolder called "input" that you extracted in step 1. If you’re not using a CyanogenMod ROM (like Stock I9003 Roms), then you’ll also need to pull /system/lib/libandroid_runtime.so from your phone and place it in subfolder input that you extracted in step 1
! If you’re interested in getting arabic shaping in the Browser, pull file /system/lib/libwebcore.so and place it in subfolder input as well !
3. Double click on commands.exe. Do not close the black cmd screens that will pop up. Once the patch is done, you should get a patched framework.jar in the subfolder output.
4. Put file output/framework.jar in .zip at /system/framework/

Yes, you have to apply the path again.
See attachement for an arabic keyboard, install it and then under "language in and output" (or sth like that) aktivate it. (I idon´t tested it, but it should work)

thanks for the big efforts , but i have problem when sending messages from my i9003 2.3.6 custom rom ,the recipient have squares instead from arabic letters.
could you help please....
Hey guys
Arabic support on gingerbread and previous versions of android is really a pain in the ass .. at last there is a patch to work on any ROM
Its simple and effective
1. You need a rooted phone.
2. You need the ROM's source (zip file).
3. A ClockworkMod Recovery to flash the created zip file.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible if u bricked your phone.
How to do it:
1. Download the tool from
For All Roms - here.
For MIUI - here.
2. Extract the tool to a folder.
3. Search for a folder called input folder and open it.
3. Open your ROM source with any zip software or extract it.
4. Search for 3 files
A. framework.jar - Found in: /system/framework
B. libwebcore.so - Found in: /system/lib
C. libandroid_runtime.so - Found in: /system/lib (HTC Sense and AOSP ROMs ONLY)
5. Copy these 3 files in the input folder we have previously opened.
6. Run commands.exe
7. Follow on screen instructions till it finishes making your flashable Arabic - Persian fix
8. You will find your fix in the output folder, copy it to your SD card and flash it through the recovery (Make a nandroid backup before flashing it)
At last your ROM can read the Arabic - Persian letters correctly. Enjoy
P.S i am not the developer of this tool i just tested the tool and it works like a charm. All the thanks goes to the devs of this tool.
P.S Your rom must be deodexed, take care of this.

I flashed the output zip file through recovery, the process was aborted so the flashing failed. The ROM is fine, nothing damaged.
My question is:
Is it safe if I replaced the output files inside the ROM's zip file and then install the ROM again?
Yes

Yes it's perfectly safe. I always did that with MIUI roms, by putting the arabic in the zip file then flash it. To be 100% safe just do a nandroid backup before flashing the new rom with the arabic files. Hope that helps, try it and get back to me.

But when I tried installing the ROM with arabic files it said that the installation is aborted! What could be my mistake?

I put the arabic files into the ROM zip file, wiped data and cache and performed a nandroid backup.
But when I tried installing the ROM with arabic files it said that the installation is aborted! What could be my mistake?
This is the exact text displays after the failed installation:
Installing update...
E: Error in /sdcard/Creed_3.5_totoro.zip
(Status 0)
Installation aborted.

Did u replace the right files as mentioned in the tutorial, just make sure that everything is going exactly as mentioned above or in the tool itself. I tried this tool with more than 10 roms and it worked perfectly with every rom coz it injects the arabic to the framework itself. Please try again and make sure everything is done in the right way and get back to me.
Thank you very much!
I messed up before, but now...
My phone can read and write Arabic letters properly!
before i was worried because it won't write Arabic, but now I found the option in the Ice cream sandwich keypad.
Thank u so much!

I am happy it worked for you at last. To write arabic download a third party keyboard that supports arabic. My recommendation is swiftkey 3, it's an amazing keyboard. If u r using the market alternative "Aptoide" add my store at http://haithammotawee.bazaarandroid.com or http://haithammotawee.aptoide.store.com and u will find the application on it.
Happy i could help you, enjoy ur Arabic phone.
P.S like the post please if it was helpful to you.

jplk2 and ublph have stock rom
how can transfer persian language from jplk2 to ublph?
ublph better than jplk2
I do not take responsibility if you brick or break or do whatever with your phone , iam just trying to help those who follow the instructions carefully :good: you are doing this on your own risk! (though the chances of bricking your phone with this are extremely low) aaand the chances are that you are here cuz u bricked ur phone XD
Hi guys this is my first post on xda hope you like it
Now, we all "flashers" must have come to an irritating point of life (status 7) which doesn't seem to fix itself, well, here to help!
For status 7 while flashing ROM:
1.open the rom zip using a zip file explorer (preferably winrar or 7zip)
2.go to this directory: >>META-INF>>com>>google>>android>>update-script and open using note-pad++
3.Delete the line which says assert (getprop) bla bla (you will figure out where it ends) remember to remove the whole line or until where the assert ends
4.click save, transfer file to phone and it should work with no status 7 error (a status 6 error might occur write it in the comments if it does)
now,why did that status 7 error occur?
the answer is that status 7 means that the rom was not made for your phone , the assert line checks the model no. and even though it the rom might have been made for your phone but sometimes it happens cuz of simple typos by devs.
for status 7 while flashing GApps
1.open the GApps zip file using a file explorer (preferably winrar or 7zip)
2.go to this directory: >>META-INF>>com>>google>>android
3.see that update-script file? thats the bug. REPLACEit with thismg xda wont let me put links cuz i need atleast 10 posts rlly :crying: try to find a file on google called update bin. cheers and good luck!:good::good:
4. thats it! it should work now.
now why was it now working?
because you had an older phone/version of recovery which used an older version of decoder and instead of changing your whole phone we just changed a little file that is the older version of the decoding file.
thanks and yeh itz my first post so plz upvote :3 :fingers-crossed:
