Now, we all "flashers" must have come to an irritating point of life (status 7) which doesn't seem to fix itself, well, here to help!
For status 7 while flashing ROM:
1.open the rom zip using a zip file explorer (preferably winrar or 7zip)
2.go to this directory: >>META-INF>>com>>google>>android>>update-script and open using note-pad++
3.Delete the line which says assert (getprop) bla bla (you will figure out where it ends) remember to remove the whole line or until where the assert ends
4.click save, transfer file to phone and it should work with no status 7 error (a status 6 error might occur write it in the comments if it does)
now,why did that status 7 error occur?
the answer is that status 7 means that the rom was not made for your phone , the assert line checks the model no. and even though it the rom might have been made for your phone but sometimes it happens cuz of simple typos by devs.
for status 7 while flashing GApps
1.open the GApps zip file using a file explorer (preferably winrar or 7zip)
2.go to this directory: >>META-INF>>com>>google>>android
3.see that update-script file? thats the bug. REPLACEit with thismg xda wont let me put links cuz i need atleast 10 posts rlly :crying: try to find a file on google called update bin. cheers and good luck!:good::good:
4. thats it! it should work now.
now why was it now working?
because you had an older phone/version of recovery which used an older version of decoder and instead of changing your whole phone we just changed a little file that is the older version of the decoding file.

Wrong it needs to be:

You have to manually target them.

i have a problem to flash my phone (LG P720 3D Max) with CM 10. Someone told me i need the official cmd for that ROM but from where?
In ROM Manager i can only choose P990 and P920.
This is my problem:
handy root... check
cwm for lg p 720 (check?)... (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1998031) or (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889486) both same problem
download the latest CM10... check
copy to sd card (intern)... check
3d butten + sound down for recovery mode... check
but if i start the zip file. it shows:

Look in your build.prop on ur phone and see if you have the line
ro.product.device "p970" or similar. If you dont or it says something else and you are sure you have a p970 open the cm10 zip with winrar or 7zip (do not extract!!), go to META-INF/com/google/ android and edit the updater-script. Do not use simple notepad!! Use notepad++. Delete the first line in the script and anything similar to that and save it. Now it should work

take this one, works on my Optimus 3d Max P720 fine; its 6.0.2.x. Had with the other ones the same Status 7 like you...
It is from one xda post, but dont ask me where (its for the p720), cant find it anymore.

If you still didn't manage to install it i will help you:
first you need winrar and notepad++ on your pc, so install it
after that you go into the archive of your favorite CM10 rom and search for the META-INF folder
enter the folder, then enter com, google, android and there will be two files
open the updater-script file with notepad++ and delete the first twió lines till the word mount, save the file
winrar will ask you if you want to refresh the file in the folder, press yes
now you can install it
you will face the problem that gapps won't get installed, so you have to push the files with es explorer or root explorer and give the files the necessary rights, if you need help for that step just tell me

I'm new for android developing, so it is my first attempt in making a ROM..
So my problem I'm pretty sure it is in META-INF folder..
After I have configured aroma installer things, and everything is done in the ROM.. I tried to flash it but it gives an error (which means aroma installer did not start) , I saw the log but it seems like it didn't flash anything, it just gave that there is an error in the zip.. So it's a META-INF problem..I think..
So anyone have an idea of what I forgot to do?

Also, make sure you do not replace the update-binary with one for your device because that one is a modded binary that starts up AROMA. You CAN, however, replace the update-binary-installer with the update-binary for your device (renaming to update-binary-installer of course), because thats the one that actually gets called by AROMA to parse your updater-script
And if you have signature checking enabled did you make sure to sign it?

I have got a zip file after unpacked got the apk whiche I need then added the apk to system.img , but the apk can't run after I have installed the ROM , I think cuz of the META-INF folder problem still don't know how to solve it

you ve got to check your updater and aroma installer for typos.
Even a comma prevent aroma form starting.
You have to keep in mind that recovery first run all scripts inside aroma and then display them unless you make an option error whch will gives you the error right befor page display..
A common issue to most new builders is the comma on all options of aroma.Last option has to end without it..
As pervious said you have to provide the error number.

it sounds like a binary problem aroma runs the updater script through aroma, but if aroma doesnt even start it would have something to do with aroma-config or corrupt aroma binary

caus ive less than 10 posts, i cant reply in the developers section.
I downloaded this rom - zNXT
there is an addon zip. i flashd both.
now i will make my own "addon" file only with these thinks i like to have.
( lockscreen,bootscreen, the scerren (i dont now wich name it is) in the attachments, ... )
can i copy the files i want in my zip and flash it ? .. and for what is the META-INF folder ?

you can edit the zip you have to make sure the folder structure is right to where you want the files to flash to and you need to digitaly sign the zip for it to flash. META-INF is where the update-binary and the updater-script are. The update-binary updates the su binary (i think) and the updater-script tells CWM what goes where out of the signd zip to the android system and mount & unmounts the partitions you want to flash files to it is writen in edify scripting which you can learn or borrow one out of someone elses zip and edit as you want instead of writing a whole one your self. The digital signature you sign the zip with is in there to. There is a certain structure to the folders aswell which must be right or you will get flashing error.
so thats a thing that i cant do without intensive learning ?

if the files are just replacing others in the zip then all you have to do is extract the zip change the files you want then re-zip then download android auto signer to sign the zip then your good to go. oh and make sure you delete the old signature files out of META-INF folder there will be 3 files as soon as you open META-INF delete them

i want to flash the stock rom with a few datas of the custom rom and a few from the "addon" zip ..

i just did a few modifications to my custom rom changes the boot animation removed useless apps and some with boot.img and built prop but i'm having problem with update script i don't know whats wrong first it was showing ststus 4 aborted then i fixed some errors and now it status 6 it's really annoying .... i think there's something to do with EOL maybe i'm using micromax a110 i'm gonna attach the update script here even if you don't use the same device please take a look at it and tell me whats wrong

This could be happening for one of 2 reasons. Either you have not used Edify Code to make an updater Script and the recovery had issue with it. Or more commonly the file has Windows style CRLF? (You can easily see this in Notepad++ (or Wordpad) using the option "Show all characters". This can be fixed by Edit > EOL Conversion > UNIX format.
