Hi all. I recently bought a Sony Xperia j which I've been using the last two week. I listen to music on by using the Sony Ericsson headphones which accompanied it or a line out wire hooked up too speakers. However when I listen too music lately it only plays out on the phone and this is with headphones or speakers connected. Does anyone know wby this suddenly happened and is there anyway it can be fixed all help appreciated. Leon
Sometimes it happens (I got it happen like two times before). Reconnecting the headphones to the phone immediately fixes the problem to me.
I think on my phone some sort of lag caused that, or RAM shortage.

It happens sometimes.Try and check the audio jack for some dirt particles
that may be causing the hindrance.Clean tge jack thoroughly (i personally use cotton wrapped thin stick to do it).Try re inserting the head set a few times...
It will work.If it doesnt, look for replacement

Several days ago my RAZR HD (4.0.4) stopped playing media through the headphone jack. When I plug it in into my car's auxiliary or try to use several different headphones the sound would play through internal speaker.
At first I thought that it some lint got into the jack. I cleaned it out with no result.
Today I installed SoundAbout app which can force the phone to play audio through the jack. And it worked! That's the partial solution if any of you run into the same problem.
Here's my question: what's the best way to permanently fix the problem?
I just got the phone less than a month ago and don't feel like going into SoundAbout settings each time I want to play music on the speaker or through headphone for the next 2 years.
I'm trying to fix it without doing hard reset or just exchanging the phone - these are the last resorts.
Were you able to get this fixed?? I'm having the same problem...

Hard reset didn't help so I've exchanged the phone.
Bummer! I'll keep scouring I guess. Thanks

Hey guys, I know the title sounds weird but has anyone gotten the problem of Audio coming out of both headphones and speaker randomly while listen to music or watching a video?
I have a 32GB nexus 5 and I was watching a video and all of a sudden the volume went down and I could hear from my headphones and speaker as well. Just wondering if it's just my device or someone else is also having this problem.
If so, you think it's a software issue or hardware? Cause if it is, I'm gonna get it returned or exchanged asap.
Bump. Anyone has this problem?

I accidentally thanked you. Lmao. Anyways, make sure your headphones are pushed in all the way. They may be in only partially.

Lool. Thanks for the thanks.
Trust me I did that. When i watch YouTube sometimes and put it landscape the audio starts coming out from the speaker while headphones are plugged in. I reboot the phone then everything goes fine but sometimes it comes back again. This was the second time so I am worried whether it's a hardware issue of software. I feel it's software.

Just to echo: I had the same problem whilst listening on poweramp on my headphones, I declined a call by sending a text and all of a sudden I have audio coming out of headphones and speakers. Very embarassing on the tube!
I have restarted the phone and all seems to be good, but Google need to fix this.
I got the Mobile on the day before yesterday, and yesterday only I first connected the headphone, and I experienced similar issue. While playing music through PowerAmp, all of a sudden the volume on the headset gone low, and I heard its coming through speaker also. I pushed the jack all the way in, but the problem persist all the day long. when I put the jack in, it starts playing on the headphone only, and randomly it starts leaking. while playing through headphone whenever I press the power button, it starts leaking, whenever I go to the eq screen on the poweramp it starts leaking. along with that it starts leaking randomly. Today after seeing this post I rebooted and till then I have not experienced it again. Please let me know, did u RMA it? or the problem solved?
If anyone else has a opinion or a suggestion please respond.
On a side note, my speaker volume is terribly low, I didn't know there was a shutter sound exist, until I read from the forum today.
Bump

I have a similar problem with my nexus 7, after buying a new audio jack/ micro USB port assembly. About two days ago the audio just stopped coming out of my headphones and instead plays from the speakers and I have know idea whats going on, if it is the assembly then I've wasted $70.
Bump Galaxy Tab A SM-T550
Same here.. Android 4.4.2. with PowerAmp.
When I'm listening "poweramp" I put to charge the audio leaks from the speaker
Just had that happen on LineageOS 14.1 (based on Android 7.1.2) OnePlus 2
While watching a YouTube video.
After doing some tests I found that it was happening when a notification was received during playback. The notification sound was coming through the phone and after that the media sound was also coming from the phone.
Hey guys,
This is gonna be a long question because I have a very weird problem.
When I first got the phone, and plugged in the Bose soundsport earphones to see how it would sound (before even downloading any 3dr party apps), the earphones didn't work as they are supposed to.
The phone recognizes the plug in, displays it with the pop-up thing in the notification bar. And everything works perfectly, for about 5 seconds. And then, the notification disappears and the sound output switches to the main speakers of the phone.
I had this problem on the first day, for about a few hours. And then it resolved itself spontaneously, and I never had any issue again, for about two and a half weeks. Now the phone started doing the same again.
I called Xperia support, and we agreed that the problem is very weird and probably a software problem. Since I have been using the same earphones on my Xperia Z3 and also all other earphones do get recognized on the Xperia XZ. Even after doing the hard-reset with the xperia companion software, the problem still didn't resolve. Also, Xperia support tells me that since they can't reproduce this problem once i send it to them, they will even charge me for it without helping me.
And having the bad luck I always have, the policy of my provider to bring back the phone because I don't like it, is over.
Sony support tells me to ask Bose, and Bose tells me to ask Sony what I can do to solve this.
Does anyone have any experience with a problem like this.
And would it be a solution just to change some things in the software, I seriously don't know what to do anymore.....
I have the bose soundsport and no issues at all. Works perfectly fine.
Might be a rouge app causing issues?

I checked if anything third party influenced it.
By removing SD and formatting phone, didnt resolve man.

Does anyone have a bluetooth issue when listening to music through wireless headphones?
I have that issue with my XZ, when listening to music the music skips and such when having my phone in my right or left pants pocket down in waist height but if i have my phone in breastpocket in jacket it works like a charm.
This problem only occurs when outside and not inside.
I can´t explain what´s going on or is wrong.
P.S. I have the wireless Sony on-ear headphones that came with the phone when pre-ordered.
Well cant help with the error, but I can tell that its probably not an error of xz since it works like a charm for me!
When phone is in your pocket (if you have tight pants) the volume buttons might be pressed. One of the Android functions is hold volume button to skip the song.
Using my Sony XZ with jaybird wireless bluetooth in-ear headset almost a month now and never experienced issue described.
Possible faulty headset ?

Isn't the long volume button press a custom ROM feature?
I ask because I was unaware of this feature on stock unrooted Sony... Please advise if you have a method for this.
Thanks

Yes it is a custom feature. But it is Android and you never know why or why not something is happening. Especially if your phone works fine when in the chest pockets and suddenly skips songs when it is in the pants pocket. Maybe you have magic stick in there? lol
Maybe try playing with BT earbud settings if there is one.
It´s more like the signal get´s interrupted, like i have my xz in my pants pocket and i put my hand over the pocket the bluetooth signal gets disturbed or something like that and that even occurs when i turn my heard to the left with the phone in my pocket. I can´t really explain this phenomena.
It´s not like it changes the songs...
The bluetooth signal doesn´t seem stable to me from when i´m using my own phone!
I need to check with other headphones because i don´t belive my own body would block the bluetooth signal.
I have no problem with bluetooth on headphones or speaker bar. Standard try reset a phone or repair on PC companion

Have the same problem with my XZ and the media system in my Renault Clio. I think it may have started since I updated to Nougat
Well funny /not so funny thing I cant control PLAY/PAUSE, SKIP /BACK with the included Headphones for some reason!
I have no problem using bt speaker. I carried speaker around the apartment last night, phone stayed in my room with door closed and I had no interruptions whatsoever no matter where I am in the house. I assume your bt headphones are bad. Try resting your bt headphones before repairing your phone through the companion.
I have the exact same problem with my new XZs and my new h.ear MDR-100ABN, when the phone is in my pocket the music interrupts and turning my head left with my phone on the right pocket same problem, it's just signal, I don't know if there is any fix for this or not but I'm really disappointed, I hope is just a bug from the OS and not a hardware problem.
Hi Guys,
I am getting really annoyed with this problem because I have to use an alternate software, soundabout, just to get sound routed to the headphone/audio jack.
I am on the hunt for a resolution because.. well i dont need a reason! it should work!
I know it is a software related problem because an application can correct the sound.
help is much appreciated.. I am on the latest stock software
All I can think of is a fresh install. That really is a strange issue. Does that app recognize it when you pull out your headphone jack?
i do everything manually so I use the app to either route the sound to the jack or the speakers.. its really frustrating and has been a long standing issue from what I am researching but yet sony dont find it a common or important enough issue to fix -_-
Im doing a fresh OS repair

Please post an update if the software repair fixes this issue. My old Xperia P has this problem, i think one of the pins are broken so it does not recognize the headphone.

I'm pretty sure that it's a hardware issue since inserting it in a certain way makes it work Thanks for the tip though, I didn't know such an app existed.

So you know the software repair did not work.. I am over Sony phones.. thought ide try them because theyre known for build quality but the camera performance and with little niggles coming about you end up appreciating the product samsung puts out even though they heat up considerably.
This happened on my Xperia Z5 Premium as well. There is no excuse from Sony. Previous devices have had this issue, they should learn from this and get it fixed.
I am moving to google pixel sony needs to get their act together ive spent 2-3 months with this phone and after initial hope that the update would make everything amazing.. it kind of did but the other problems and lack of a consistent camera is just not satisfactory.. I am sorry sony there is no excuse! you develop the sensors for most of the phones and you develop hardware in general.. great software compliments great hardware! headphone jack problem killed it for me

It might just be a faulty device, why don't you consider getting it replaced at an authorized Sony Service Center.
Can you elaborate on the headphone jack issue?
I have been anxious to make the jump to the xz because my z3's headphone already needed repairing three times. The headphone jack is loose in the frame. First sounds starts to crackle and later on fails completely. Mic remote has issues too.

After doing the following test I knew my z3c problem was hardware.
Open an audio recording app. I used Sony's.
Plug in a headphone with mic.
Start recording
Wiggle the jack in the socket
Listen to the recording.
If the wiggling has caused a crackling noise then you can be sure the jack socket is busted
Sent from my SGP611 using Tapatalk
So I was having a sound issue with my headphones as well. When I connected my headphones I would have audio for a second or two before the system reverted to using the built in stereo.
After contacting Sony's support they were able to determine the problem was that their smart connect app wasn't loaded. I had to re-download it from the play store and after a reset everything was perfect.
As I'm new I can't post a link to it but a quick search for "Sony Smart connect" on the play Store should find it. Hopefully this helps out.
Good

That is completely true since you can create crackling noises while everything still works like it should. You should listen to the recording and test if you can hear yourself, if not than there might be something wrong with it.
