Hi All,
I have a GT-I5801 that I received as a gift from relatives. It was purchased in Hong Kong,
Baseband version: I5801ZHJP3
The phone works ok with the stock build, however I can't get above edge speeds as the baseband/radio doesn't support the 3G frequencies used in canada. Through searching this forum I found I5800LVIJG8 that is supposed to be for North America. Does this mean that a version of the 5800 existed that supports north american 3G frequencies? If so, are there actual hardware differences? I also read of users having I5800L or I5800D's and using them in Canada. Are these versions with the suffix different hardware versions to support the different 3G frequencies?
Lastly, if I5800LVIJG8 does support 3G, it is a froyo ROM. I have read that there are differences in the baseband files between Froyo and Gingerbread, making them incompatible. Are there other options? Will other gingerbread or ICS based roms such as Cyanogenmod work with a Froyo baseband?
Thanks for your help, it would help me make this otherwise crippled phone useful if I could get 3G on it.

So I ordered a new, sealed I9020A from eBay. Arrived today (I'm out of town) and my wife took a photo of the box. It's a model GT-I9020FSRRWC, which is a Canadian variant of the Nexus S with compatible US 3G bands (AT&T). Here is my question:
I have had several I9020A's in the past here in the US. All had horribly slow 3G data and I returned all three of them because of this. Now, I know that Best Buy is subsidizing an I9020A variant for AT&T, making the model "sanctioned" on AT&T. I have to believe the radio & firmware for that model works seamlessly with AT&T's network (which the Canadian I9020A's don't). I know I can flash the radio from KB1 to KB3 or something similar, but would applying the firmware for the following make it identical to what Best Buy is selling as the official AT&T variant?
GTJ61 - Android 2.3.4, the original Nexus S firmware for the US version of I9020A.
From here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063664
Basically, I want the identical firmware and radio as the units sold for AT&T by Best Buy on my Canadian device because I don't want to deal with any network funkiness. It's maddeningly frustrating...
Thanks.
I've tried the new AT&T modem, it's still speed hobbled. For some reason, all modems that come with the i9020a have a capped transfer rate. I've flashed the KB3 radio from the i9020T series and i can now easily reach over 2 megs on the upload.
the KB3 modem also deadens the search button bug a lot.
Hmm, not the news I had hoped for. I'll give it a shot...thanks.

So does anyone know the difference between the GT-I9020A and GT-I9020FSRRWC?
Thanks!
use the HSPA build.prop tweaks from the radio thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884 with KF1 radio you should have normal speeds so long as its not a hardware issue
I'm annoyed that I can't get reception on my phone because there is no baseband compatible with any gingerbread roms in Canada. Bell uses the 850 and 1900mhz bands for umts and the gingerbread bands available don't support one of those frequencies (I'm guessing 850). Any ideas where I could start looking for basebands that may work with gingerbread in Canada?

Hi,
Blaze 4G is one of the few phone whose radio supports both AWS and PCS bands (1700/2100 and 1900, respectively). Currently, I am using AT&T network with StraightTalk (PCS band). Here is my question, will new modem version for this phone support the same UMTS frequency bands as the original one? There is a new UVLH5 radio available for ICS. What is practical difference between UVLB7 and UVLH5? I really need my phone to support American PCS, AWS as well as European IMT, as I use my phone there too.
Thanks!
Well, seems like the new UVLH5 modem support same frequency bands as the original one. I tried swapping AT&T sim with T-mobile sim, and they both worked fine (HSPA). I still do not know what is different between the old and new modems - I did not notice any difference. BTW, new ICS modem works fine with GB rom.

i've noticed this as well. they seem completey cross compatable and i havent actually noticed ANY difference at all between any of the 3 versions.
im also using mine on straight talk, att sim, and it work great. maybe even better then the at&t moto atrix i have on straight talks att sim.
as for working in europe, i couldnt say, but if you are willing to provide the plane tickets i will gladly fly over there with my blaze and check for you.
They fixed 911 and call echo issues between the first two, as for the uvlh5 it was just minor bug fixes. I was wondering myself if there was any way to use the radios in the t989 list. They can use ours, so shouldn't it go both ways?
Friend of mine recenty got one for free so here's the thing:
- unlocked
- updated to latest 4.1.2 via Kies
- have 2g and 4g network, no 3g
I need 900MHz/2100MHz 3G band working but I don't see 900MHz 3G nowhere in any of those Qualcomm S2 "derivates" so I'll flash UVMC6 radio from latest T989 4.1.2 to get 2100 working at least. Is there anything else I should know?
Next, language: how to get Croatian in form of stock rom or he'll need to stick with CM for that?
Thanks.

4G in USA is used to brand H+ aka 3G+. So basically you're having 2G and the fast type of 3G. You probably won't have LTE (real 4G) in Europe though. He'll need to stay on AOSP/AOKP/CM/MIUI* for multilanguage support.
You can probably compile a multilanguage rom with language files from the international S2. But it's a hassle. I've tried once and gave up quickly when I realised how time consuming this task is. Especially considering that I'm no programmer/developer. There are guides on how to do this, google it if you want.
* = multilanguage support varies with every release and rom.

Yeah, messing with framework and editing language strings is a proper hell.
Oh, so it picks 2100MHz already, no need to flash it then. T-Mobile has LTE network under construction here with speeds up to 75Mbps but only under 800MHz band which I can pick up with my i9305. So, no-go with i727 and "proper" 4G here.
so based on the specs posted on moto's Australian website, this phone does not support at&t US LTE frequencies.
Is this a software limitation or hardware? Would flashing a different firmware get it to work?
