[GAME]Pokemon-STYLE Game (still in dev) :Phonster - Android Apps and Games

Hi all,
i am just releasing a pokemon type game named Phonster
In this game, YOU are Ash... YOU have to move around your home /your world to catch pokemon (i change the name to Phonster : Phone Monster for not having problem with Nintendo )
So you begin the game with 1 of 3 kind of pokemon : water, earth, fire and you have to complete a pokedex
By now the features already available are :
Catch a phonster
Raise his level by defeating other phonster
Learn new attacks when you reach a level
Evolve to 2nd and 3rd generation (not for everyone) when lvl required is reached (or when leveling when carrying an item<= not finished)
Trade phonster via internet connection
Actually the game is in french AND english (depending on the language of your androphone), available since 2.0 android version (apk10 to be exact)
Website is still in french.
If i post today, it's for some reason :
- i need some person to confirm my english translation in the game
- i seek someone to translate in english the whole internet site (seek for Phonster on google (not play store!) to find the site)
- i seek someone who will have a little bit more of graphic abilities than mine (check the website, you will understand what i mean )
- if someone feel it, other translation (german, italian, etc...) are welcomed
- and the most of all... i seek users who will like to trade, xp, etc... their phonster !
Futures features:
- Breeding phonster to have babies
- Tournament (on the internet website)
- every idea are welcomed !

the game is functionnal (some bugs appears in my algo...like "zombie" opponent (no live, but he still fight one time ) but everything works)

This game is currently in Alpha version was created by the developer in the same idea that Pokémon type game, but this time on Android.

Safari:
When you click this button, you will see a Google Map. On it will then appear depending on your location (determined by GPS or GSM) 6 Phonsters within a radius of 500 meters.
On the screenshot below you can see:
- An arena (if reached level 10)
- 3 exclamation points, which symbolize Phonster you have not seen yet (not caught either)
- A Phonster purple, bottom right (Phonster just seen but not caught)
- A green circle indicates the area of ​​the net capture the most potent (50, 100 or 200 meters). You can see one Phonster nearby, it will be closer to capture.

The principle to use real life GPS is really interessting, Nintendo should have had the idea X)
Now all you have to do is keep polishing the graphical aspect.

Is this not on the Google Play Store? I couldn't find "Phonster" or "Phone Monster" on it.

not on the play store because it costs 25$ ... and as an inde, i'm not "able" (my wife will not agree ) to buy an account... (for now)
and as the game is still in alpha, i choose to not put it on the store
if players are happy and the game is really used, maybe i will pit it on the store...
but by now, as nobody is trading monster on the website, i'm asking me if i should continue to dev it or not
we are 60 players (... i mean, 60 to have it downloaded and created an account...) and nobody put any on trade...
maybe no one access to the website... or maybe should i put the code in the apps for trading...
(but you will "loose" something not trying the website in the future...)

I've just post a new version (69) and modify a little bit the internet website
some bug correction
some better display (removing of some debug data)

on the website, i have made some change on the trading part (to access, click on "Mon compte" <=my account)
Actually 60 users have created an account and (i'm sure that, at least) 6 users are playing the game since last update...yes this not a lot... but i'm expecting a lot more if YOU speak about this game to your friend how like pokemon and have an android mobile

The fact that you literally have to get up and.go outside to catch the monsters is kinda crazy. Maybe that's why. Overall I like it though.

Yes, this is crazy, and this is what i really want for this game... put the gamer OUT of their home
as an "ex" fat boy (i was 122Kg and now "only" 96) exercice is the better way to lose and keep in shape (with a good meal too...)... so have a game that make me go outside is the best for me (and i found the concept via the game "Spectrek" but nothing really "interesting" except catching ghost...once the ghost is caught, you have nothing more to do)
That why i seek for a pokemon game on the market, but as i was unable to found any... so i just decide to make it (and to please my daughter who loves pokemon since she saw the movies )
However, V70 is online, some other bug correction, debug mode removed, etc...
Next step will be to put every "French string" hard coded in the "string.xml" file so every one will have his version in his own language (i apologyse for the convenience to have french text even if you wet your smartphone in english language)...
Don't be afraid to tell me any problem, any request, any improvment via twitter "phonster" or via email (see the game) or via this forum or other forum you can found on google speaking about phonster

Sick idea, looking forward to trying a more refined update in the future

[QUASI-NEW APP] word puzzle game

EDIT: FIXED MANY MANY BUGS, changed/updated the layout, removed keyboard entry method.

History:
I wrote a word scramble/jumble game as a pet project and published it to the market place. Its beta and my first app so be kind. Basically I was curious how hard it would be to create multiplayer games.
At first I built a tcpserver and client in the app and had it go out to a matching server, then the one handset would be switched to server mode, and the second would disconnect from the matching server and connect to that host. Of course this worked perfectly on wifi, but with cell connections, the cell provider's NAT prevents the connection so now I have the matching server handle the communication throughout the life cycle of an online game.
If you like word scramble games, please give it a try and give me some feedback. I'm not exactly a master programmer nor graphics guy, like I mentioned its just a pet project.

* >60,000 words in supplied database
* ability to create your own word database and use it alone, or in conjunction with system database
* ability to set system words to be ignored
SOLO GAME PLAY
* option to change the # of rounds per game
* option to change the minimum and maximum word size for the game

Hmm - thats odd. It requires 2.01 or higher (sdk 6)
I can find it on market with Rooted Droid running 2.1 on Verizon and with unrooted Nexus 1 on AT&T running 2.1 update 1 just by searching for "jumble"
anyone unable to see it on market? I wonder if its an export issue? I've never posted to market before so don't know all the issues there might be.

Thanks. BTW there a new version (on updated link on first post) that fixes a lot of issues.
The network head to head works well when i've managed to find an opponent - but with only around 100 downloads, I basically have to stare at the matching server to see when someone joins. I think for the network version to be really good it needs thousands of downloads so there are always a few people online - but I really don't know how to get that kind of penetration. And the fact it doesn't seem to appear outside the US (if you are any example) isn't helping
jumble is one of my favorite puzzles in the paper. i'll give it a go thanks!

Hi I just tried your game, but not on online. Just wanted some single player brain training. Here's alittle feedback after a couple games:
1. It would be nice if you supplied the answers to words you get incorrect or don't know. Maybe during the time it takes to load the next word?
2. Sometimes i spell the word correctly, press the enter key, but it says i'm wrong. So i retype and press 'Guess' and it'll except it. This happened twice in 3 games of 5, and I remember of the words being RIMS. Actually its funny, cause it wasn't even jumbled either... hahah I guess it was a gimme.
3. Some options like play again or stats or summary of words at the end of the game would be great!
Anyways, I'm playing on a rooted Droid running BBv1 rom and Swype. Other than that though, I'm a fan of puzzles and stuff and it was fun. I'll play some more during the week and let u know what else I think.

Ahhh the online interface is much better. It gives you the correct answer at the end. Although it said 3 people were online, I think i was just playing against myself. After I missed the word EXEC, it gave the right answer then crashed. I was able to still type into the chat room, but I was unable to exit and it eventually FC.

That is one of the options you can enable "Show all matches" will show all words it would have accepted.

Might be a caps thing if you are using the keyboard to enter stuff - or maybe the keyboard is auto-inserting a space and I need to trim it. Also Swype is definitely problematic since it changes the way the keyboard interacts with input boxes. In fact, i used to have a warning popup if it detected a non-standard keyboard. You may want to enable "button mode" which uses the same input method (press the letter buttons) for solo play as the online version does. I might remove the keyboard input from solo play entirely - but i'm leaving it now in since its built.

I am doing that for the next release of the online version - it will track:
-number of words founds
-number of rounds played
-number of points awarded
-number of points opponent was awarded
-number of wins, number of losses, number of times your opponent quit or was disconnected, number of times you quit.
-total time spent playing online.
Anyways, I'm playing on a rooted Droid running BBv1 rom and Swype. Other than that though, I'm a fan of puzzles and stuff and it was fun. I'll play some more during the week and let u know what else I think.

hmm - i thought i had found all the force close issues on network play but i msut have missed one. In any event the network module has some backend changes on the server in preparation for the next front end release so it could be some incompatibility with versions - i'm trying to maintain backwards compatibility as much as possible since I don't post all the updated betas but I think I might have to cut it off with the next release.
I've really updated the app since my first post about a week ago. I think I cleaned up most of the FC's, changed the game play a bit, added more options for single player mode, added quick game summary, option to replay, online network stats (wins/losses/quits), option on letter-button behavior (autocentering) and a bunch of other stuff. Still looking for feedback if anyone's got some. Can post it here, or from within the game.

oh yes. I havent really spent much time doing the layouts yet. I'll probably work on the scoring next then do the layouts.
Solo scoring is rather meaningless at the moment.
Head to head scoring is every word is assigned a point value - if you guess it first, you get the points added to your health, and your opponent loses them from their health. That way if two people are evenly matched, it the game could last a long time with lots of rounds, if they are totally mismatched, it will be mercifully quick. If neither player guesses before time runs out, they both lose the points- thats so all games end and players don't just hang out and use the in-game chat or forget they are playing a game.
I've made massive changes to the game since this first post - i think its come a long way. I haven't gotten any feedback from people here - but would love some either in this thread or from the in-game feedback button.

sounds really good, but id be a bit reluctant to give my windows live id and password to an app made by a user with only 3 posts
This will be interesting considering I paid for 360 Live in the Market and very much love it.

i have 360 live but i dosent keep track of your achevements, there is only one app on the market atm that will sync with your xbox live account so you can see what achevements you have and what you need

Yeah, your doubts are reasonable
You can check our info in androlib (the App has been on the market for 8 months).
It was made initially as a companion of our Spanish website, TodoJuegos.com (more than 12 years online). Just go to our home site, the App is featured there.
But no fear, the latest version is in English and Spanish

aproval is auto, after you have made 5 or 6 post a mod will look at your account and approve you you should be up and running in less than an hour.

It includes a lot of new Achievements and Trophies in the offline database, bug fixes in the startup offline database reader and speed ups all around.
Please, let me know if you find any bug, a lot of classes have been rewrited and refactored.

It's not a bad or retarded question at all, Xbox Live websute has been through a lot of changes lately, so it's more likely that something is wrong in our App than you doing something wrong.
Please, try to log into Xbox.com and then go to http://live.xbox.com/en-US/GameCenter and http://live.xbox.com/en-US/friendcenter
Everything works for you there? Do you see something wrong or your Achievements and friends are all there?
If they are, please, let me know, we certainly have a problem in the App then.

- update button on the minifight, challenge and tournament screen in the title bar
- fight improved : the robots have colors (red and blue), you see your avatar here so now you know who you are

-we created more battlefield. they will be available tomorow and you will not have to do anything to see them.
-I'm still working on artificial intelligence and a lot of stuff so... be patient. The work is not over !

And, yesterday the game has been stolen
A thief, took the apk, replaced the signature (this is actualy not too hard), and put the game on the market under his name, as a paid app !
I had to desactivate the actual version because of that. In the actual version, you will have a notification saying that you have to update. You can't create nor answer a fight, and can't add contact anymore.
In uploaded a new version on my server (0.9.4), it's registered on the google market, but not visible. So this guy will not be able to steal a second time the apk.
To avoid misunderstanding, the actual name (iron soldiers) will be replaced for the official launch.
Anyway, the version 0.9.4 does correct a lot a bugs and I hope it will work better on your phones
Every update will be done by replacing the apk by a newer, with the same name on my server.
I will notify here, by editing this first post.

set my tactics and done a simulation version.
one thing maybe i have slow reflexes but its pretty hard to get a high score in shoot reflex?
seems a prettly interesting game though.

I also tested the game, and it looks fun. The graphics are nice, the GUI is good.
However, the short games to train the robot are a bit boring.
It's impossible to get scores higher than 700 in the reflex game without luck. The time frame is too narrow. Better increase the time frame and let the target appear on random places.
The concept is pretty nice, but the possibilities get very fast very limited.
However, it's in the beginning, so you'll probably add a lot of additional gadgets and items in the future.
But I also have to agree, it's very unstable, and crashes very often.

I think what you said is spot on
I have to agree on the reflex part it was pure chance that i got over 700.
I think that as it is a new game a lot of the options are limited currently as they are currently in development but it is an interesting game and the i have enjoyed playing it so far
One thing i will mention though is that i do like the fact that you have to choose a form of strategy to play. it will interesting when/if more people play how your own strategy works against others.

This game is limited right now because it's only a frame. After you will have weapons, goodies, more battlefields...
I have a ton of idea like :
- a magnetic bomb who paralize the ennemy 5 secs, so he is vulnerable to anything
- an oil bomb... so the ennemy loose control
- a nuclear bomb who make both of the player loosing 20 health points
....
(if you have some ideas, you can share )
But I need time to do it and first, I have to get rid of the bugs (and it's a pretty hard challenge for me !).

You all know these games where you dig down to find treasures, ores and gems? Well, here's another one!
You are controlling a robot which digs for you. Simply tap in the direction the robot should go and he will do that - if there is a block in the way the robot will dig through it. That only works on mud-blocks - stones cannot be digged but if you dig away the mud underneath a stone block, the stone block will fall down and maybe crash you, if you are not fast enough to run away or place a support bar!
Your target is to find the ultimate gem at the bottom end of each mine. Once found, you can approach to the next, even deeper mine! On your journy you will find many different money-bringing things, like ore and gems.
To master all the challenges, you can buy upgrades for your robot. More battery, a fast drill, more storage or better sensors, to see more fields around you!
The game autosaves itself, so don't worry to lose your progress

Update 1.1 is out!
Recently we added support for Keyboard Dock - so you can use the arrow keys to navigate and spacebar to set a pillar.
Also new in 1.1 are "Mystery Fields" - you can find money in them, ladders, pillars - even free upgrades can be found (but rare)

This is a bigger one - the game now features an inventory where your robot can carry special items he find on his journey.
The first findable items are - of course - Dynamite!! In 2 different types. You can find this items in Question-Block (with some luck)
Well, Dynamite destroys simple everything - except the robot, which is a bug *g* I will fix that tomorrow.
Everything else gets destroyed: stones, mud, ladders, pillars, questions .. ok, the Ultimate Diamond is Dynamite-Proof (I think diamonds are?) but you need to watch out where you use dynamite.
You will not gather anything from bombed fields - so if you blow up some ore, you will not get it - same for question marks. Also every rock field above the bomb area will come down.
If you lose your robot, your inventory is gone too - so be careful with your little robo ;-)
I tested this new features very long, so I hope everything works how it is supposed to work.

From now on the Robo has an Auto-Climb Feature.
While standing on a ladder, just tap and hold in the desired direction and the robo will follow the ladder until its end.
Finally that feature is in, so with the use of dynamite you can now build really deep shafts and use the Auto-Climb Feature to get fast around.

Yes, it's done - v1.3 is out!
Biggest change this time is the ability to use different save slots. You have one slot on your phone and 2 extra slots on your sd card.
Feel free to transfer your savegames over different devices - it should(!) not be any problem with that.
Please be aware, that we made huge changes in the code, so it is possibly that something will not work as expected - be kind and report any issue, so we can solve it as fast as possible.
We also switched the buttons for ladders and pillars - just because on very small devices the advertisement is too big and players were not able to push the pillar button which is very annoying.
We will surely come up with a better solution for this problem in the future, hopefully this first change help most of you out

This game is written in java and uses libgdx (libgdx ftw!) as graphics engine so it would run also on desktop if I would release it
and please it's not a copy of Gem Miner (which is a good game too!), like android is not a copy of iOS. This game was inspired by multiple other games and I am sure there exists many other games which have a similar gameplay. Maybe some of you remember Boulder Dash? C64? Or Motherload? Even Minecraft or Terraria
I also made "Minesweeper: Unlimited!" - yea, you guess it, I copied Microsoft!
Currently I am developing an RTS and I bet, when it's finished, some will say it's a copy of Black&White or whatsoever
I appreciate the work of others a lot but please don't depreciate the work of building up something out of an idea by calling it a copy.
Robo Miner has no clear ending (each mine is even deeper than the mine before) it is very simplistic - I am pretty sure, that there are very different feelings about the gameplay. Personally I aim for building the perfect shaft until I find the diamond. You need to think in advance when using Dynamite and so on. FYI: At the beginning of development Robo Miner had hexagonal fields.. but that wasn't ideal for such a game.. (I love hexagons)
I am thinking of new features for Robo Miner too - in the future I want to integrate more statistics, how much fields digged, max depth, diamonds found and such things and set up a little highscore server by myself where someone can compare his progress with others - maybe there will be unlockable features like a jetpack (sort of jump) or increased fall-down capability - who knows, nothing sure until now.

if you are in the middle of doing something in the game and you lock your device, when you unlock it, the game is not in pause mode, but it loads your last saved game :| i find that kind of frustrating.

I cannot do much about it (libgdx recreates itself) but I could stop the device from going to sleep mode - would need 1 more permission to do that. So the game would tell android to not shut down CPU and/or screen (still trying to find the best solution).
I am not sure what happens, when a call gets in - anyone tried that? game should(!) pause properly (it does when clicking home button)

But game is wicked.... I am playing it all day... Its perfection in its simplicity... When my GF asked me what am I doing... I just said... Digging... Digging and more digging ;-)...

The developer should be adding Xperia Play Controls but as its an early Beta (Would not of thought it by the quality) is has basic options in the app (game in full of course) you can use USB controllers if know your input event (e.g dev/input/event?). I have tried mapping the buttons on Xperia Play the D-pad works and you can map Cross. If anyone finds a better way of mapping to play please post your findings.

Hell yeah ......has any one tried using gamekeyboard on this yet? Only thing is that the game, except for the menu, is all distorted across the screen.
unfortunately, i cant start a game...due to how distorted the game gets i cant tell what is going on ....the only thing that actually woks is the main menu lol

I tried this on a 7" generic tablet and it works very smooth, control is a lot better if you set "Always run" to OFF, and bump the mouse sensitivity to your liking.
Still, I tried using a mouse through OTG(I checked "Hide onscreen buttons and enable mouse" option before starting the game), and I can see the Android mouse cursor in-game, but I cannot use it to click on "Play", "Options", etc.
If I swipe my finger across the screen I can move the in-game mouse cursor(different than the Android one), but I cannot select anything, as the onscreen buttons are disabled...
is there a way to set in English, whe i press button i can't shot with the gun for example can you help me

Where did you get the Original game (Sd Data) from? Sounds like you need to delete Language Pak files which are not English. The app is complete English menus in app and in game for me with my version from Steam.

I installed the game on my pc and directory (Program Files) I have the folder: Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
And there in a lot of files that weigh a total of 627 MB.
Which of all I have to put those files?

All of them....just copy all the files in the folder to a folder called rtcw4a then put that folder onto the root of the sdcard.

This port is so awesome...im speechleess!!!! Works like a charm on my sgs3 even with graphic details on max!!! How can i change imput sensivity?? Has anybody got sixaxxis controller working??

The same guys from 4pda.ru are porting it. On youtube there must be a prealpha video. Oh and by the way found yesterday in the Internet a apk which is about 50mb. Its a little piece of the game for just showing the gameplay where you can walk around and look at mutants and so on. Must say it looks perfect, smooth as butter( but only touch atm) Believe its called projectS.T.A.L.K.E.R.
So from what i saw this absolutely will be a hit.
Well with the final beta apk the game works fully now. Yay. Now to make a gamekeyboard layout for it. I'll let you know once its ready.
