USB Mass storage
I don't think you need Composite USB driver to access your files on your phone through USB.
Most android phones allow you to configure the USB connection type - either through the Settings app or through a notification / popup when you connect the USB cable. Select "Mass Storage" / "USB Storage" from the options and when you connect your USB cable, you would get option to "Turn ON USB Storage" - If you do that, your sdcard would be mounted as a USB drive in your PC.
If this doesn't work for you, it would be helpful if you can post a screenshot / photo of the About Phone in Settings, showing the details about version / kernel / etc.

Hi! Does it can enable the USB Mass Storage connection for honeycomb device such as TF101 ?
I do have big problem to make TF101 can be mounted as USB Mass Storage, so I can recover 1000+ photos storaged in internal memory ( /sdcard ), which have been formatted days ago, by unexpected operating.

I'm sorry, AL Mass Storage Manager only provides a mechanism to mount external USB devices that are not mounted automatically or not recognized directly by your device, nothing about setting the device itself as a USB mass storage to be used in a Desktop machine.

MTP drivers are natively installed on Windows with Window Media Player
If you have a Windows "N" version (without media), you will have to install the pack separately

Thanks (and sorry for the "spamming" in the other thread.
Too bad I have to pay 10 euro to install Media Center Pack.
I've bought Windows 8 PRO upgrade, then upgraded to windows 8.1 pro for free via the store and when I want media center pack I have to pay
Search on google, maybe there is a free "minimum" pack with the MTP drivers only

I tried this
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=19153
But it doesn't work. It gives you drivers for win XP and Vista, I tried either of them for the 'mtp device' but windows doesn't take it.
Ok but when I want to install CM11 do i need all this? I can install the google usb drivers:
I take for "acer a700" device : Android ADB interface and for "MTP device" I take: android composite adb interface.
And when I do the test "adb devices' it gives me a number, so this means it's correct right?
So when I have this I can install clockworkmod and CM11?
When I have CM11 installed could it be I can see the acer a700 in my computer?

If you have "adb devices" returning a serial number, it's ok, your device is well regconize in debug mode
So you can install CWM without problem.
MTP (Multimedia Protocol) is the protocol used in order to access the storage of your device, without it, you will not be able to explore/copy files on your tab.
You can try to change the protocol in your tab settings and use PTP instead of MTP, but with PTP (Photo Protocol), only JPG will be accessible via USB.
CM11 is using MTP too for USB storage connection.

I don't know if anyone has ever had the same problem and can give a hint! Thanks a lot!

Try to switch USB port in PC, reinstall your android (complete wipe of system, then reinstall it). Or maybe your windows is causing this problem.
Cable or port issue. USB port on phone, computer or cable.

Thanks, but I have already tried on multiple PCs,multiple ports and multiple cables. I don't know if it can be a sofware problem that a wipe or change of ROM can solve :/

I experienced the same issue yesterday when I tried to flash Lollipop on my Nexus5.
Using the original USB cable that came with the Nexus did the trick.
Try turning USB Debugging on Dev Options. It might help.

Try to install this : https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481 ( This will install Motorola Drivers to PC)
Use a Data cable, that has ability to Charge your MotoG, Others data cables which cannot charge your phone can be useless in sometimes..
no need of keeping USB DEBUGGING - ON
if your phone does not connect .. Do one thing, Install Mobogenie, and Do as it says..

This might help ,
check these , in your phone

Hi,
I have installed the last LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) on a SAMSUNG S4 Value Edition.
I got almost everything working, but the USB connection.
Settings-System-Advanced-Developer Options-Default USB Configuration = File Transfer
Now, if I go in System-Connected Devices and the USB cable is plugged in it should appear OTHER DEVICES - USB connection but it doesn't !!! It actually does appear but only very very rarely and randomly !!!
Please offer feedback, many thanks !
Regards
You set USB-mode to File Transfer ( AKA MTP ): File transfer will change your phone to USB mass storage, allowing you move files between the phone and the other device (such as your computer). To access phone in this USB-mode requires another driver.
Many thanks for the quick reply.
But that was the idea! I want to be able to access the S4 jfvelte internal memory (pictures, docs, etc) from a PC.
My expectation was that when I connect the phone to the PC (Win10) via USB cable I can access the phone from WinExplorer but this is NOT so... only very rarely the phone is shown in Explorer.
Contrariwise when I connect another (real) S4 with the official Android 5 I can always access the phone from the PC.

Does it mean that one should update the jfvelte USB driver first ?
If YES how can I do this ?
Where can I find the right USB driver ?
On windows PC install the MTPdrive 4.1 app - a trial version - what is attached:
MTPdrive is intended to map devices to a drive letter. It works with all devices that operate in MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) mode.

Done. However I cannot notice any change.
The phone is still not visible in Explorer.
If I start the MTPdrive.exe there is no device detected:
I have just installed the last UBS drivers from SAMSUNG (Samsung-USB-Driver-v1_7_43_0.zip) on the Win10 PC.
The Samsung S4 phone (jfvelte - Lineage 18.1) behaves in the same way, namely the phone is most of the time not accessible from the PC via the USB cable. This looks to be a LineageOS 18.1 jfvelte bug. Any idea if there is a way to talk with the LineageOS developers, eventually to report such an issue ?
Hi,
The topic is solved: it was because the phone screen was locked ! as soon as one connects the USB cable to the phone AFTER unlocking the phone screen it works as expected, meaning one can access the files/pictures etc which are being stored on the phone !!!
Many thanks for all !!!
