Even though this is a ATT phone and I am on the Tmobile network? Also, just to clear the air...I bought this of CL and I am a little PO'ed.
Is that the reason that I am having such a difficult time with ADB due to this error? Will a custom flash of a ROM fix this issue if I can get recovery installed?
Thanks in advance for any help

Sorry, the phones been blacklisted. The North American carriers all share the blacklist too, so it won't work on any of them anymore.

It's an android emulator for PC. I get ADB out of date when I have it running.

That's right, the US has a black list and the UK has a blacklist. Stolen phones, lost phones & phones replaced by insurance claims get placed on the blacklist.
For your ADB out of date, you can hit ctrl + Alt +del and kill the adb.exe process and restart it. Or look for some other type software that interacts with android, like a wifi transfer program, htc sync, emulator and kill that.
A five minute call to at&t will let you know if that is the problem by IMEI #. they won't give you specifics but they will give you a thumbs up or a thumbs down on it.

UPDATE: Called ATT and they confirmed that the phone and IMEI is "Blacklisted".
UPDATED UPDATE: Got ADB to work, The process needed to be killed in the task manager in my Windows VM.
Thanks for all the help guys and if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to PM me.

You can try and activate through straight talk. When I ordered the att SIM from them it came with instructions to activate SIM with a imei printed on a red card. So I using this phone with some imei that straight talk assigned so it may work the same way with a tmobile SIM.

bought a phone t959v with a cracked screen on ebay took out main board and put it in a new lcd assembly. phone will not connect to t-mobile. says not registered on network. i thought it might have been a bad sim reader so i put one in i new worked from a different phone. still no good . called t-mobile verified phone was not locked . they did a hard reset, still nothing. i notesed it is running 2.3.6 and i have up to 4 bars reception with antenna. does anyone have any idea what the problem could be. thanks
Check your IMEI in Settings -> About phone. Don't post it. Compare it to the IMEI behind your battery. If it is the same we can probably get you up and running. Let us know.
ok thanks will get back to you tomorow phone is at work
number in phone is different. called t-mobile number is blocked. told me to bring it to t-mobile store. if they cant do anything is there any other way to get it unblocked
Which number is blocked? The one behind the battery would seem to me to be the one that matters. That is the number you should see in your settings.
And report whoever sold you the phone on ebay if they didn't tell you the IMEI was messed up.
There is way to recover?
He can ask Odia for help if the IMEI behind the battery is good and T-Mobile can't fix it.
WHo is ODIA?

Its black listed. Meaning it came from a stolen phone. It appears the OP bought a phone and was scammed. I would return the phone and do a charge back via paypal.

I have odin'd it back to 2.3.6 and to eclair, I have tried different fixes I have found but none seem to work, can anyone help or has anyone figured this out yet?

I got a Verizon Galaxy S III from a friend. When he had it the 4G LTE worked just fine. When I put my sim card in it found my wireless account no problem, I even went on the verizon site and after the phone popped up as my new device I "activated" it (whatever that does)... But I get no 4G. I'm in a 4G LTE area, I used it on my old Galaxy Nexus all the time. In my Mobile Network settings under Access Point Names there are two avaliable options, 'EHRPD - Verizon Internet' and 'LTE - Verizon Internet', the default is EHRPD but I changed it to LTE, still have no 4G. There is no "preferred network mode" like on the old Galaxy Nexus where you can choose between CDMA and LTE/CDMA. I searched around and downloaded the app Phone Info, the preferred network is set on LTE/CDMA/EvDo... HOWEVER, if I change it to LTE/GSM/WCDMA or LTE only or LTE/WCDMA I get 4g service! But then I have no mobile network to place calls or text. When I change it back to LTE/CDMA/EvDo it drops 4G again and goes back to 3G. I don't get it! Anyone have any ideas?
Well since his sim card worked fine, it may just be yours. I can't say get a warranty replacement because vzw doesn't replace third party traded phones. Stingy bastards.

So it could be the sim card even though I can force 4G to work by itself? 4G still works on my Gnex when I pop the sim back in. If it was the sim is that something I could get a replacement for from vsw somehow that would fix the problem?
Is there any reason that unlock/root/flash other roms/radios would fix the problem?
Well I mean I'd hope it was the sim, but it's probably not. I'd say try your best to fix it with the tools at hand because lord knows if you call Verizon and try to get a warranty replacement, you're gonna be on the phone for a while.

i have had to actually go back to the store and get a new sim card. (they are free) from when a previous device would not work right. turned out the card was bad after all. not sure if you in the same boat as me though.

A SIM card ain't gonna fix it.
Call VZW and complain. The more of you with ****ed up data speeds/signal issues that call in the better for the rest of us that have the same issue. VZW won't look at it being a "common problem" because supposedly the issue isn't wide spread enough. I've been through two phones, others as well. A quick look through the forums and you'll see lots of data/connectivity problems.

Did you not read the op? He got it from a friend. VZW will simply tell him it's a third party transaction, and that they will not cover it under warranty. They can track that the phone went to a different account.

The device may still has a warranty- Samsungs warranty.
More to the point- the device is ACTIVE ON HIS ACCOUNT! He's having NETWORK ISSUES. Some people's S3's have NETWORK CONNECTIVITY PROBLEMS (I am affected by this issue.)
Did you read my post? Exactly where did I mention swapping out- warranty exchange, etc? I didn't, so don't put ****ing words in my mouth.
I simply stated that the OP should complain about network issues. Network issues which VZW is responsible for. Network issues that VZW asks Samsung to fix. Network issues that users are having problems with. Network issues that VZW doesn't think is a big enough deal to ask Samsung to fix because not enough people are CALLING IN ABOUT THEM! They're just waiting for an update to fix it. An update which won't happen because VZW doesn't think it's A PROBLEM!
I'm not arguing with you and hijack this poor guys thread. Fact of the matter is verizon will tell him to get a new sim, then they will say they'll have engineers investigate the towers he connects to. The engineers will chock it up to terrain or weather, just like they always do. VZW is in this game for the money, and they'll get it. They know you want the best service, and that you'll pay for the best despite terrible CS.

Im about to buy a new ATT branded HTC one x USA.
I was wondering do i have to buy a unlocked version if i am wanting to put on Straight talk with there ATT Sim card from there site?
I hear mixed opinions / answers.
Do i have to have a unlocked to use on straight talk even though it uses ATT towers and i here other posts not mentioning unlocking / unlocked phones?
I am using a art HTC one xl right now on straight talk
If you order the att SIM card from straight talks website it will work on any att phone it doesn't have to be unlocked my HTC one xl is not unlocked an runs great on straight talk with the micro att SIM straight talk offers I get the same speeds as att also
So simply no if you have the att SIM from straight talk any att phone will work it does not have to be unlocked

I have the $25 GoPhone Plan that gives me 250 minutes and unlimited texting. I currently have the Pantech P7040P. I hate this phone and I want to get an android. I tried to put my sim card in an HTC Vivid 4G LTE phone and it didn't work. The phone did not detect the sim card. I was wondering if its even possible to have an android phone with the current plan I am using. I was thinking of either an HTC Inspire or Motorola Atrix.
Answer, and another question.
blackhawkrisen,
I think you can use it with another phone (I'm pretty sure about it!), it could be that the HTC Vivid you tested it on had some connector pins broken.
You could also check if your sim card has any damages.
It could also be that the HTC Vivid had a sim lock.
Do you know that?

Its your sim card, the orage one that come with the gophones are lovked to that gophone for 6 months.
Go to the att store tell them you need a new sim for your gophone account bc you lost your. They will provide you a free blue sim card that will work in your vivid.

Sorry for the late reply, thanks for the help. That might have been it, but I just recently got my sim card switched to a normal blue one. The HTC Vivid and the person was kind of shady. I currently do not have a data plan only voice and text. Would this be why the phone didn't detect the sim? I wanted to know if I could buy a smartphone without having to pay for data and keep my current plan with a smartphone.

No, because your plan only includes voice and text.
The phone doesn't matter.
If you use data on your phone it will be very expensive!

If you have that blue sim-card you can put it in any phone you want, as long as it hasn't got a lock on it. (Then you may only use that phone with that service-provider). So if you can buy a nexus, I would buy it. (But it doesn't matter because when you buy a phone the are ALWAYS unlocked)

Sometimes the port can take a while. You can try turning on/off Airplane mode (to disconnect / reconnect to the network) and see if it accepts a call to the ported number.
When I call the ported number it doesnt ring it just goes straight to this. It says "I'm sorry but the person you have called has not set up voicemail yet "
I have even tried factory resetting the phone and still won't update to the ported number. You think I need another Sim for that number?

there is no option for firmware update. i also tried tried the #1234# and just get "invalid MMI code". I have also tried a factory reset and nothing...not sure whats going on. My number is on my account online but not active on my phone...its so annoying lol...is there a chance it just needs more time to push the new number to the sim? thanks
For one the number thing was an example lol didn't mean for you to try it and yes I had a straight talk service take 31 hours to push through but it is odd cuz it should come pretty immediately

called straight talk, they said that my number was active but was not working because a sim card can only ever have one number assigned to it. So i went online and ordered another sim card and then i can call in and put my number on the new sim.
