4G LTE Issue

I got a Verizon Galaxy S III from a friend. When he had it the 4G LTE worked just fine. When I put my sim card in it found my wireless account no problem, I even went on the verizon site and after the phone popped up as my new device I "activated" it (whatever that does)... But I get no 4G. I'm in a 4G LTE area, I used it on my old Galaxy Nexus all the time. In my Mobile Network settings under Access Point Names there are two avaliable options, 'EHRPD - Verizon Internet' and 'LTE - Verizon Internet', the default is EHRPD but I changed it to LTE, still have no 4G. There is no "preferred network mode" like on the old Galaxy Nexus where you can choose between CDMA and LTE/CDMA. I searched around and downloaded the app Phone Info, the preferred network is set on LTE/CDMA/EvDo... HOWEVER, if I change it to LTE/GSM/WCDMA or LTE only or LTE/WCDMA I get 4g service! But then I have no mobile network to place calls or text. When I change it back to LTE/CDMA/EvDo it drops 4G again and goes back to 3G. I don't get it! Anyone have any ideas?

Well since his sim card worked fine, it may just be yours. I can't say get a warranty replacement because vzw doesn't replace third party traded phones. Stingy bastards.

So it could be the sim card even though I can force 4G to work by itself? 4G still works on my Gnex when I pop the sim back in. If it was the sim is that something I could get a replacement for from vsw somehow that would fix the problem?
Is there any reason that unlock/root/flash other roms/radios would fix the problem?

Well I mean I'd hope it was the sim, but it's probably not. I'd say try your best to fix it with the tools at hand because lord knows if you call Verizon and try to get a warranty replacement, you're gonna be on the phone for a while.

Not sure if this is true but when i got my phone from bestbuy the guy gave me what he called a 4g lte sim card so that i could have use of lte etc. So it might be your sim card

is this on a straight stock phone or was it rooted ?

Bone stock. I actually factory restored it again to see if that would fix it.

i have had to actually go back to the store and get a new sim card. (they are free) from when a previous device would not work right. turned out the card was bad after all. not sure if you in the same boat as me though.

What do you say when you go in? Just tell them you bought a phone off a friend and it's not working, and ask for a new sim?

No just say your SIM card is acting up, you factory restored and still don't work.

A SIM card ain't gonna fix it.
Call VZW and complain. The more of you with ****ed up data speeds/signal issues that call in the better for the rest of us that have the same issue. VZW won't look at it being a "common problem" because supposedly the issue isn't wide spread enough. I've been through two phones, others as well. A quick look through the forums and you'll see lots of data/connectivity problems.

Did you not read the op? He got it from a friend. VZW will simply tell him it's a third party transaction, and that they will not cover it under warranty. They can track that the phone went to a different account.

The device may still has a warranty- Samsungs warranty.
More to the point- the device is ACTIVE ON HIS ACCOUNT! He's having NETWORK ISSUES. Some people's S3's have NETWORK CONNECTIVITY PROBLEMS (I am affected by this issue.)
Did you read my post? Exactly where did I mention swapping out- warranty exchange, etc? I didn't, so don't put ****ing words in my mouth.
I simply stated that the OP should complain about network issues. Network issues which VZW is responsible for. Network issues that VZW asks Samsung to fix. Network issues that users are having problems with. Network issues that VZW doesn't think is a big enough deal to ask Samsung to fix because not enough people are CALLING IN ABOUT THEM! They're just waiting for an update to fix it. An update which won't happen because VZW doesn't think it's A PROBLEM!

The engineers will chock it up to terrain or weather, just like they always do. VZW is in this game for the money, and they'll get it. I had a ****ty attitude yesterday and that's no excuse for coming off as rude as I did. My apologies. I'm sorry. I don't think I meant to come off with such a lack of tact.
That said, you're correct. Its the same brush off I've received. I, however, told then they were brushing me off. I told then it was a brush off and something is wrong with these phones. Its okay to be blunt. They know they're brushing you off and its perfectly acceptable to let them know you're nowhere near as ignorant as they hope you are.

No worries, I kinda came off the same way. So sorry as well. The manufacturer's warranty is nontransferable, but they don't know who's sending in the phone. Only problem is you have to send it off and be without a phone for a few days

I get the same issues, i called Verizon (*611), was on the phone trying to troubleshoot the phone for 30 minutes. If turning of and on the phone does not work, then out could be the Sim card. Also, they did something at their end and now i am getting 4g while waiting for the new Sim card to arrive by mail.

straight talk activation - sim not provisioned mm#2 HELP

Howdy - switched my infuse 4g from simple mobile to straight talk today. Activated it by their website. ported my old number over / set the apn / rebooted phone - got message:
"sim not provisioned mm#2"
I'm sure that just means the cellular network has not been activated yet.
I unlocked this months ago when i first got the phone and put it on simple mobile - running gingerbread stock - rooted
anybody run into this trouble?

it was probably back in march when i unlocked it. It's been so long that I don't remember - probably the same turorial you posted the link to. I had it using simple mobile since then - but switched over to straight talk today because I couldn't handle the edge network anylonger. I seriously doubt just switching the sim would lock it up again.

Just a lil info but really not needed to unlock to run on straight talk.

You need the one that's specifically for unlocked att phones. Atleast, that's what I have and didn't have any problems switching from simple mobile to straight talk.
*edit* sorry, thought that was mook_ response. But that's weird. I tried a basic sim (friend has one) and it told me sim not provisioned

I bought a sim package and one months of service from Walmart. $59
It was pretty cool it actually came with 3 sims - 1 regular and 1 micro for att and 1 regualr for t-mobile
My original problem of sim not provisioned is solved - it just took 24 hours to port the number from simple mobile to ST and activate it. Love ST - just hope I don't max out the data.

That's a cool deal... I can't find mention of it anywhere online. It would be great to have sims for both networks; it only shows up on straight talk's website and walmarts one sim at a time. Where did you find it?

I called the 800 number for ST this weekend and they said go to wmart. They had them but at first the gut didnt know what the hell i was talking abouy (newb). your right though i asked about them 6 months ago and they didnt have them. If you need one ive got 2 micro sims for att and 2 regulars for t-mobile

Sim not provisioned MM 2
Hello xda developers,
I have flashed cwm recovery (for xperia M) in my M dual c2004 device. First thing it says is "Sim not provisioned MM 2" What is this? I think Xperia M is not a dual sim variant so the CWM designed for M does not support 2nd SIM? i think so.
Now I have flashed CWM recovery designed for M dual C2004. I successfully rooted my phone. Yippeeee.
My actual doubt is - if i flash xperia's kitkat firmware in my Xperia M dual device, will i be able to use my 2nd SIM?
What best can i do if i want a kitkat firmware which supports dual sim on my M dual c2004 phone?

HTC one x ATT on Straight Talk question

Im about to buy a new ATT branded HTC one x USA.
I was wondering do i have to buy a unlocked version if i am wanting to put on Straight talk with there ATT Sim card from there site?
I hear mixed opinions / answers.
Do i have to have a unlocked to use on straight talk even though it uses ATT towers and i here other posts not mentioning unlocking / unlocked phones?

I am using a art HTC one xl right now on straight talk
If you order the att SIM card from straight talks website it will work on any att phone it doesn't have to be unlocked my HTC one xl is not unlocked an runs great on straight talk with the micro att SIM straight talk offers I get the same speeds as att also
So simply no if you have the att SIM from straight talk any att phone will work it does not have to be unlocked

Do you get a new number when you activated straight talk?
I have no service / phone in front of me. But i hear you have to port your current service number what if you don't have one? Do they give you a new number like ATT Gophone plan i just activated and choose my number on there website.

I don't really understand what your asking if you can or if you have to port a number not sure if that's it or not so let me answer them both
You can port your existing cell phone number to straight talk
You do not have to poet your number like me I didn't have a number before straight talk just you choose activate an get a new number or something along those lines an they will give you a phone number for your area

Krazy....I have a HTC One X and a ST micro sim that I have been using for the last 6 months in an iphone. I want to use the sim in the HTC but for the life of me I cannot get the data connection to work. Both phones are At&t versions. I get voice and texts, just no data. Can you help? Maybe share your APN settings?

Mm#6 means the phone was reported stolen. You will have to contact your carrier

Even though this is a ATT phone and I am on the Tmobile network? Also, just to clear the air...I bought this of CL and I am a little PO'ed.
Is that the reason that I am having such a difficult time with ADB due to this error? Will a custom flash of a ROM fix this issue if I can get recovery installed?

Sorry, the phones been blacklisted. The North American carriers all share the blacklist too, so it won't work on any of them anymore.

It's an android emulator for PC. I get ADB out of date when I have it running.

That's right, the US has a black list and the UK has a blacklist. Stolen phones, lost phones & phones replaced by insurance claims get placed on the blacklist.
For your ADB out of date, you can hit ctrl + Alt +del and kill the adb.exe process and restart it. Or look for some other type software that interacts with android, like a wifi transfer program, htc sync, emulator and kill that.

A five minute call to at&t will let you know if that is the problem by IMEI #. they won't give you specifics but they will give you a thumbs up or a thumbs down on it.

Update
UPDATE: Called ATT and they confirmed that the phone and IMEI is "Blacklisted".
UPDATED UPDATE: Got ADB to work, The process needed to be killed in the task manager in my Windows VM.

You won't get any help with a stolen phone, doesn't matter if you stole it or not.

You can try and activate through straight talk. When I ordered the att SIM from them it came with instructions to activate SIM with a imei printed on a red card. So I using this phone with some imei that straight talk assigned so it may work the same way with a tmobile SIM.

cant receive sms or voice mail notification on verizon

Got my phone the other day and was able to send and receive txt . then after a restart I cant receive any txt . I called verizon they suggested a new sim card. That worked for about 2 hours then they stopped coming in. Also Theres no VM indicator. Im on an unlocked phone. Any thoughts. Or is she going back

It's happening to me too. It worked then stopped. Try using the vzw message + app. Its the only thing that works for me as of Now.

Someone said u need to make sure Verizon has hd voice enabled o. Ur Verizon account too. Maybe that'll help.

I have HD voice. I have had. O issues making or receiving calls. The txt problem started yesterday afternoon. Several others have reported it as well.

The problem is they are adding "CDMA-LESS PROVISIONING" to the options and that blocks the incoming texts and VM notifications. I fought with this for 2 days and put my SIM back in my 10. Problem still remained until I called and had that removed.
Not sure if they remove it while using the U11 if it will come back on its own.

I switched back too, and had to go through the same thing. I actually had to use another sim card they were unable to remove it. Once it was removed I immediately received 3 days of messages. Sounds like they have a major issue with provisioning a non CDMA device.

No, remove it. That's what's blocking texts.

Standard worked for me. It's luck of the draw I guess.

just talked to them. lady seamed very helpfull . she explained to me that an unlocked phone will only work properly if they activate. YOu can not use the online website. I did have CDMA-LESS PROVISIONING off with HD voice on but the phone was not fully activated until they turn the phone on
hope this helps. Now Ican go cancel my replacement one.

Well bad news. I did a power cycle and after 10 minutes not receiving messages again along with vm indicator. It's definitely something on Verizon end.

I was told by tech support that they could not turn off CDMA-LESS PROVISIONING. As of right now, the only way everything works is to use the green "messages" app. For whatever reason, i cannot receive MMS when using 3rd party SMS apps. STILL cannot figure out why.
