Dont forget to check USB Debugging in Developer Option and Unknown Resources in Security and make sure your connection type is MTP. Ohh 1 thing, make sure you have administrator privilege to run 01-local-prop.

Hello,
i rooted my Xperia J successfully two weeks ago with the firmware 11.0.A.3.18.
I wanted to make an update on 11.0.A.7.5 without losing root now. Can I use your method without root again?
One more thing where I can find the news of updates, i would like to know what was done or fix and what is different between 11.0.A.3.18 11.0.A.3.28 and 11.0.A.7.5.
THX

Hai don't worry just extract the root .zip and run 01-local-prop after completing process a message appear pls uncheck wipe data
Now unplug your device and open flash tool and select 11.0.A.7.5 ftf and uncheck wipedata
After finishing power it on and open the zip and run push root files after this your automatically reboot
You will rooted .........enjoy

Bunnybash you need flashtool (better for beginners), the kernel which i provided in my thread (thanks to the dev who made it) and of course a Xperia Arc
First download the kernel and after that the kernel which you put somewhere on your desktop.
Then after installing open up Flashtool and click on the lightning (sory my english is bad) and select fastboot mode.
Then just click on select kernel to flash and clickthe one you placed on the desktop.
Follow the on-screen instructions and you are done

I have a Xperia ARC, after trying to root my phone by different ways, flashing so many roms, I found the way to get it. But not with 4.1.B.0.431, I got it with 4.1.A.0.562 and I have locked bootloader.
First you have to download the 4.1.A.0.562 rom, as I see you know how to flash it. Go to this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598072 and download the rom.
Then go to this forum Thanks to DoomLord http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601038 and there you have the instruction to root your xperia.
Please read CAREFULLY the instructions, download ALL the files it suggest before start the procedure. And in the step 5 and 6, do it as it says, if not you won't get you phone rooted.
Keep reading the instruction in the CMD window during the rooting process specially when it says: Turn off and On USB debbuging.
Please thanks people in the forum I suggest, they were whom really did the job. Hope this could help you.

Well, its a matter of hit and try..!! You could try it and see if it works. I don't think that the rooting script is chipset specific. But it maybe that as well. We don't get Qmobile here in India, so don't know the specifics. It might work or it might fail. At most the phone won't and you will be stuck on bootscreen. You can get that fixed at the service centre if its in warranty (don't tell them you tried rooting.)

I should work. I have tested this on many more devices ( I will add of those in a while though) You should try it again. And also it dosen't matter where you live.
it says device not found
well sir i gave it another try. all was going on well. in the end it said "error : device not found "
and not rooted.
anyway thanks for quick reply sir

Do one thing and see if su is there. If it is then remove it along with root (there is and option in settings of su) and then re-root it. While in the the process of rooting, don't touch anything on your phone or pc. And I hope this time you are able to root it!
Also confirm if it works and what device you used.
Regards
Ishan

First check with root checker and ota voodoo to see if there is any tick in the boxes. If not try to install SU and see it it works out.
If not then,
1. Download busybox https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox (Only the app and not busybox)
2. Root with motochopper
3. If exploit dosen't show any error, INSTALL busybox from the app and then check SU
I tested both the exploits on Xperia SP. Gave me an error in the explot a few times but worked out though. It also gave me an error that it is not rooted even after i got no error in the exploit. Just had to install busybox and voila it worked

Actually, it's just the drivers which should be installed. In Win7, they are automatically installed but they take some time as they are downloaded and installed. So that's why the rooting is stuck at that point as the drivers are still being installed in the background.

Hi. I have a similar problem.
Phone (xperia J) is working fine with stock rom, rooted and unlocked bootloader. But when i flash custom rom there is no IMEI, no signal and no efs folder (nv_data file). And if I go back to stock rom the IMEI is back and mobile network works.
So my question is is there any way to transfer IMEI, recreate efs folder, so I can use custom roms?
I have to post 10 times before I can post links outside this forum.

Use it at your own risk. Read this text first before you get started.
If you follow these steps your phone is back to the original settings. You have your signal back and you IMEI.
Now you want your phone rooted! Right? Right!
For rooting Sony Xperia J 11.0.A.7.5 version, 11.2.A.0.21, 11.2.A.0.31 (and or later) using ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery necessitating an unlocked bootloader (unlocked bootloader).
Broadly speaking, the rooting procedure using CWM recovery to install su, busybox and Superuser.apk files bundled in the update. The steps are: flash CWM, rooting package update using CWM recovery, then flash the stock kernel back.
Preparation:
1. Fastboot files here
2. Unlock Boatloader.
3. CWM Sony Xperia J (boot.img)
4. Sony Xperia J stock kernel 11.0.A.7.5 (kernel.sin), can be extracted from the image ftf.
5. Update file for rooting (root_xperia_signed.zip
Update March 8, 2013:
All the required files in the download is packaged in the following:
- Version 11.0.A.7.5
- Version 11.2.A.0.21
- Version 11.2.A.0.31 (May 30, 2013)
The steps:
1. Root_xperia_signed.zip copy files to the internal / external sdcard.
2. Prepare boot.img, kernel.sin, fastboot.exe into the working folder. (Make self a folder on you PC Harddisk)
3. Prepare boot.img, kernel.sin, fastboot.exe into the working folder.
Turn off the phone, unplug the USB cable and go into fastboot mode by pressing and holding down the Vol + Up while plugging in the USB cable, fastboot mode can be seen from the blue LED light on the top panel.
4. Check whether the connection is correct fastboot, type in Command Prompt:
fastboot getvar version
If prompt <waiting for device> is displayed, then the connection is not successful, try to check whether the driver for fastboot already installed.
5. Flash CWM and restart the phone:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
6. When the phone restarts, observe the LED on the bottom of the panel when it turns purple, immediately press and hold the Vol + Up button until the LED turns blue to get into CWM. USB cable can then be removed.
7. At CWM, select install zip from sdcard, then choose zip from sdcard / external sdcard and select the file in step 1 above. Continue reboot system now and turn off the phone (if necessary by removing the battery and repeat to enter fastboot mode).
8. Repeat steps 3 and 4.
9. Flash stock kernel:
fastboot flash boot kernel.sin
fastboot reboot
10. Turn on the phone, check whether the application is installed SuperSU. Congratulations rooting successful.

Thanks, but that's not what i needed.
I already have stock rom rooted and working. Problem is if I install custom rom (FXP, PA), rom starts but no mobile signal and no IMEI. So I cannot use it.
Is there a way to like "copy/paste" IMEI from stock rom to custom rom?
edit: read somewhere on xda that this is a CM10 bug and CM10 based roms for xperia J.
disregard my last post (and previous post also)
fixed it!
what I did:
1. flash original stock ICS rom - 11.0.A.7.5.CE
2. reboot phone and then shutdown (not sure if this is necessary)
3. flash CWM img from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2034639
4. install custom rom (FXP233)
5. reboot
and now mobile signal works and IMEI is back.
hope it helps somebody and sorry for hijacking your thread Stoetel

Here you can find the latest Android 4.0.4 version for the Sony Xperia Tipo ST21
And here the CWM for Tipo.
Kernel can you extract from the ftf file. You can open th ftf file with Winzip or Winrar.
Flashtool. You can also use this program to check if your phone is bootlocked.
Go check this site if you need your phone to unlock the bootloader.
Follow the instructions above in the previous post. Or search on this forum for the solution.
Good luck.

search how to flash ftf file and flash it using falshtool:good:

(for me) Flashtool is the best way to unlock/relock bootloader. its hassle free you dont need cmd promt.
heres the download link http://www.flashtool.net/download.php
if you still got bootloop, flash your device to to your stock FW/FTF
if you dont have your device back up
just search your stock FW in C2104 section here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/general/sony-xperia-l-flashable-ftfs-locked-t2560642
you should know your device model and build number..
NOTE: you need to root your device first in order to use Flashtool..
after flashing stock FTF reboot and wait.. it just takes time...
just hit thanks! hope it helps.. :good:

Flashing a stock ftf NEVER needs rooted device.
And you can still flash if it's in bootloop. Search in the general info thread and you'll find complete tutorials.
You can download your required stock ftf from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/general/sony-xperia-l-flashable-ftfs-locked-t2560642
and the guide for flashing is located at

Hit thanks if it helped
