remove clockwork - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

my usb port has failed. i cant charge, or get it to work on a computer at all. if i restart it while its plugged in it will show its "charging" but looses about 1% battery every 5 mins. is there a way to return to stock, unroot, and remove clockwork without the use of a computer and odin, cause i cant get it to recognize, even trying on 3 different computers, and the toothpick trick, and restarting it while plugged in. the techs i talked to said the usb seems to have failed, and to do a factory warranty im sure it needs to be total stock, and my custom counter was never tripped. thank you in advance

First try with a different cable. Often times this does fix things at least for a bit. Secondly if that does not work, then while plugged in remove the battery, wait for a few seconds say 15 or so, and replace the battery. Hold in the power button while doing so, as well as you can try the Vol + & - buttons. See if that gets you into recovery.
If all fails, then you might end up having to pay to have the usb repaired.

I believe vincom has posted an excellent method for unrooting and returning to stock without Odin in his stickies. I suggest you take your search there.

I've tried several cables to no avial. I can unroot using vincoms method but that still boots clockwork not Odin since the USB has failed . I didn't know if there was a way to remove it since it wont boot stock recovery. I have all the stock fw just no way to flash.

If you can temp-root by any means, do that and from temp root use dd to overwrite the recovery with stock one.

Your having problems with your phones USB port.

bender is right, there is a link in my "restore to stock" and the 1stop sticky for returning to full stock w/a dead usb port if you can get into cwm/twrp, i asked for it to be stickied but to no avail, here you go HOW TO INSTALL STOCK ICS W/OUT ODIN USING CWM/TWRP - even w/a DEAD USB Port , its really easy, all files needed are in the op, you just need to be able to boot into cwm or twrp, but be warned, if you install the stock recovery on a phone w/a dead usb port you wont be able to install a custom recovery again, so make sure the flashed stock firmware boots properly before flashing the stock recovery.

I found it and it sticks in bootloop. Sorry I left my working phone at work and couldn't reply. I can't get it to wipe it freezes but I see your post to fix it ill try that. Thank you vincom I just kept missing it spazzing lol.

you need to get into recovery and do a reset data and wipe cache partition, you should be good by then, you did get to the part to flash the stock recovery right, if yes then it really doesnt matter since it is stock and you are returning for warranty repair/exchange

[Q] Sidekick 4G Bricked!!!!!!! odin dosent work

tried installing glorious overdose but I tried to wipe data, and it stayed there for about 10min so i pulled out the battery. i tried a second time but without wiping data (i didnt know WTH i was thinking) so it rebooted and was stuck at boot screen saying create new partition and system not avaliable (sumthing like that) so i decided to try odin so i can go back to stock firmware and it finished and now it stays at the bootscreen blinking i tried recovery im stuck.
before you odin, reinstall the phones drivers on your pc. connect the phone to the pc without the battery, hold the volume down button and the trackpad and reinsert the battery. when you odin, make sure only auto reboot is checked, and put the pit file in the pit slot and the tar file in the pda slot. if you use kies to update firmware, reinstall drivers again before updating.
You may need to check "Re-Partition" in Odin.
shouldnt need to repart, in fact it may be a bad idea. every time i odined and accidentally had repart checked, it screwed something up. most recently the stock messaging app didnt work after odin. i have since switched to go sms, but still made sure i had a clean firmware install. i would try odin without repartitioning first and see how that goes. if something is wrong, you can always odin again. the first time i tried to flash a rom i bricked because i flashed cwm through rom manager. the thread where i found the odin file said make sure only auto reboot is checked. besides, if the rom didnt flash correctly, then it didnt convert any partitions anyway.
ok i had the same problem for the first time i tried to install a custom rom, theres a way that you can fix it with out odin. follow this steps... i promise it will work.
1)boot into the red cwm voodoo lagfix recovery
2)wipe data/factory reset
3)wipe cache partion
4)after all the steps above are completed, go to apply sdcard:update.zip
the its going to take you to the regular cwm once there follow this steps...
1)install the custom you want to install, but make sure that it doesnt need special mounts and unmounts, so follow the instruction flash the rom and it should fix it

I tried the method above but ater reboot it stays on the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G boot screen and does nothing else. I'm hesitant and Flash Bootloader but what do you all think?
flashing bootloader in that package doesn't break it.

This is my current problem as well, except I have tried checking flash bootloader and have also tried Odin, but all to no avail. Can anyone help me? This is my situation:
I've had my sidekick for about a year now and have gone through the typical problems of a sidekick user. Then yesterday, my sidekick's alarm woke me as normal, but I was unable to turn it off because my touch screen wasn't working. So i battery pulled, restarted, and noticed that the screen stayed on the "T-Mobile Sidekick 4g SAMSUNG" start up screen and did not budge. I tried battery draining, more battery pulling, and nothing worked. So i did a lot of research on here and other websites and decided to use Odin. After initial problems of a newbie, I eventually figured it out and got it to RESET and PASS, but the subsequent reboot only caused my phone to be stuck in the same Sidekick start up screen it has been getting stuck in. Similarly, after many tries, Heimdall has done the same for me. Sorry if that was a long read (also, I hope its cool that i bumped this thread with my own problems), but is there anything else i can do? I'd really like to use my phone again..
I've been working for hours trying to figure out how to fix it, and I just don't know. The end result is always just the freezing at the t-mobile start up screen..Also, since i forgot to mention, I can only get into download mode with the volume down+trackball method because otherwise it would just go to the regular start up screen and freeze. I don't know if that means anything, but yeah.
Have you used heimdall yet? I bricked my SK4G the other day when flashing a rom and heimdall put it back to stock within 5 minutes of me bricking it.
Thank you for replying. Unfortunately yes, I did. With flash bootloader unchecked and checked. It says it disconnects after everything is done and it restarts, only to become frozen at the start screen again =/. I don't know if there is some silly detail that im missing that makes the flash rather than just restart, but all i can manage to make it do is restart.
Sigh. Guess im going phone shopping.
How did u get the phone in dl. Mode
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA
I had to plug the phone into my computer without the battery, hold volume and the track ball, then pop the battery in. Any other attempts would simply start it up/freeze it.
Ok did u have heimdall started first?
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA
And what rom did u last have?
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA
I'm not entirely sure if I had it started first, so I'll try it that way now. And the last ROM that I had? Honestly not really sure what that means =p, but i've never flashed one and I had the most recent sidekick update installed (though it is possible that I had done a factory reset at some point to fix an error).
---------- Post added at 01:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:45 PM ----------
Just tried it. Without flashing bootloaders, it finishes and restarts to my frozen start up screen as normal. However, when i flash bootloaders, it gets to "uploading pit", but the upload fails and it reboots my phone. But this time, it reboots into download mode. A welcome change from my start up screen. Maybe there's hope.

Captivate totally unresponsive

Hi Guys,
I was on ICS and was going to wipe out everything and reinstall everything fresh. I got stuck on the Icy glitch Kernel and so I decided to use ODIN and go back to stock. I think the extraction of Odin was not done properly and as a result when I flashed it did all the steps but when it got to the reset step the phone did not reboot. And now it is totally unresponsive,
Is there anything I can do to revive it?
Thank you
Which Odin back to Stock did you use ? Can u still get into download mode ? Does your phone show any signs of life at all...even when plugged into a wall charger ?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using xda premium
Well if your phone isn't even booting up then u might have to resort to puting it in download either using a JIG OR using a three button method that can be found somewhere in the forums or through google. Also try to see if this version of odin works for you:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989

I think I'm bricked, what should I do?

I flashed a Jellybean touchwiz rom for Verizon GS3, and went to reboot and now nothing, zero zip nada. No charging led light, no way to get into recovery and no response.
Anything I can do?
what happens when you do vol up + home+power button?
Absolutely nothing. I tried to get back into the recovery to see if I could restore my backup and nope.
did you try leave it pluged in for 30mins ?
does it vibrate once when you try to turn it on?
No vibrating and no sign of life at all. Even when plugged into my computer, I was going to try the unbrick guide but it listed that I should be able to get into the recovery still.

leave it plugged in for a while to make sure its not drained battery
do you have a usb jig?
I don't have a USB jig but this is possibly good news. I removed the battery and SD card and plugged it into my computer and it tried to install drivers (failed but tried) and the led light comes on red.
if your gettin led now you more then likely need to let it charge
It doesn't give me the led with the battery in
Plug it into a wall charger for at least 30 or even better if you can get a battery from someone.

Yeah, haha. I saw it and mentally prepared myself for it. Literally just got the phone today so Verizon had no qualms with just sending me a new phone. Guess I'm reactivating my Rezound in the meantime. Thanks for the help guys.
you know
I am surprised. That also happened to me the first time i flashed that very same rom (touchwiz) with twrp . I have done this so many times , i literarily can flash a rom on the way to work .
I was in shock , i still dont know how the heck can i flash a rom and brick .
I plugged mine into windows and i got the device manager driver error from hell . and my phone never came back up again
I stayed away form twrp and touchwiz and i still cant possibly comprehend how a simple rom flash can brick my phone .
Which ROM did you flash?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
you could probably send it to get Jtag'ed for around $60 if your warranty is invalid (ie used device)
You just hard bricked it. I did the same thing. Check here - post 5 shows the same symptoms :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1770341

I was pushing a copy of root66 that I hadn't md5'd. Took a JTAG to bring me back (twice) .
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
So, in the future, md5 checksum absolutely everything since I'm assuming now that that is why this happened? (Since I made doubly sure I was flashing a rom for my phone).
If you still have the file you downloaded, you can check it. That would answer that question. If it checks out fine, then we have to look elsewhere for the problem.
BTW, MobileTechVideos.com can bring you back - based on my experience with them, I highly recommend.

Please share exactly what you did so others can benefit from your unfortunate experience.
What ROM did you flash?
Did you use ODIN or a recovery?
If recovery, which one - CWM or TWRP?
Was there any unusual condition you can think of ... low battery, USB connected to computer or to charger, etc?

[Q] Bricked Phone, and T-Mobile Replacement policy

I was running CM 10 and tried to flash the stock ROM. I flashed it fine (no errors in CWM, I also did clear the cache, dalvik, wiped system) after that I pressed reboot and nothing happened no Samsung just a black screen. I waited for around 10 minutes and then finally took out the battery. After that the phone wouldn't boot, recovery or download wouldn't work either. I tried everything I could and figured it's hard bricked. So if you have any suggestions on this they will be greatly appreciated. I still have my T-Mobile warranty, and the question I have is would they accept a phone that is rooted, but won't even boot so basically there is no way of finding out if it's rooted or not?

First error was you wiped system before reboot so there was nothing there to boot into... Leave the battery out for a bit then insert and boot into recovery.. reflash rom and this time only wipe cache and dalvik not system.. reboot.. Also how charged was the battery? maybe it is almost dead and needs charging!

Wait... you wiped system after flashing stock...? That wiped the stock rom That's why nothing booted after the reboot.
I don't know why you can't get into download mode... When you plug in a usb when the battery is out does the phone vibrate? If not, try another usb cable. If that fails then you do have a hardware issue. If the phone vibrates hold vol + and vol - and power and reinsert battery-you should get download mode.
AFAIK, they (T-Mo) put the phone in download mode and check the flash counter. If it says anything other than "no" they will not accept it. Any odin flash adds to the flash counter.

As said before it's a brick, no screen, no vibration nothing. And I don't think T-Mo can even get to the phone unless they jtag it or something, which they will most likely not do as it will cause discomfort and timeloss to the customers (ME)

Well I doubt they can do that at the store (I don't have any confidence in the salespeople's tech ability there lol), so if you are under warranty just tell them that when you unplugged it this morning it was like that
If it doesn't vibrate when plugged in and no battery installed then it sounds like a hard brick.
I think they do the manufacturer warranty as an exchange on the spot, so even if they do figure it out eventually you should be good.
But it would suck if they can get it into download mode at the store... better try numerous usb ports (even switch computers to be sure!) and cables to be sure Also wouldn't hurt to leave the battery out overnight and try again. If they get it in download mode... well two things. One they won't ever honor any warranty on the phone anymore (and they will give the phone back to you), but two... if they can get it in download mode have them leave it like that and rush back home - and then you're back in business
Kind of a win-win...

They should have explained everything on the phone, they will send you a box to return it in . And if they find out that it has been rooted and modded , you could be charged the full price for the phone. Every time I sent the phone back I've always read it back to stock if yours was bricked hopefully they won't notice

Thank you so much, my phone is working now. I just have to find a way to reset the binary download count(get rid of the yellow triangle) without purchasing a USB jig. Any suggestions? i have a similar problem myself. I rooted my infuse it has cwm9 and ics. but for some reason the phone cuts off and starts boot looping. i cant get it in download mode or recovery. took the battery out put it back in and its starts doing it without touching the power button. ive beat and banged on it still nothing but the loop. this is the longest it has done it, usually it would quit after a few minutes but its going on 24 hours now. any help would be awesome!!!
Try holding the volume up and the volume down (but not the power button) with the USB plug already in the phone and hooked up to the computer and then insert the battery. If you don't get into download then you either need a jig or have a power button problem.

6. Download a rom and gapps ( i use the AvatarROM and Gapps from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2174227)
*connect your phone to the computer and copy and paste the 4, 5, 6 items into your sd card
* i am not so sure where you are at, but maybe you don't need flash the cm-9
what you need to do:
a. pull out the battery, put it back on, holding down both the volume buttons while plug in the use cord, the other end of the usb already plug in the computer, that would put you to the download mode
b. by now your computer would be noticing the phone is connected, you then click the Heimdall at 2 above to turn it on (read that thread so you can know what to expect) if you have the drive and the phone is really connected, then, you can click "flash" and the Heimdall will do it job - don't do anything the phone will be rebooting itself back to stock (in the thread, the dev. said you might need to flash two times, but in my case, I only did once and it worked right away)
c. be happy with result for a while, then you put the phone back to download mode and flash the Entropy Heimdall at 3 above, your phone will get the red recovery if things go the way it should
d. then you wipe everything (maybe no need but whatever... after bricking your phone, it doesn't hurt to spend a min. to do this), 2 wipes at the main red recovery and then go to advance and wipe advik catch and battery state .. i would do every wipe 2 times ... and also select the "fix permissions" in there too
e. then you flash the cwm community kernel at (5) assuming that you already put it in the sd card of your phone (if not, then you choose the option from the the red recovery "connect as usb drive, your computer wil read the phone and allow you to copy and paste - i must say here that I tried this step a few times in order to make it work, i even reboot my computer)
then you flash the ROM and Gapps that you want to (assuming that you already put them in the sd card of the phone)
if jellybean didn't go through then maybe you should try the cm-9 first ...
be patient, very patient if things to the way it should, your phone will reboot a few times and recovery will change its color ... and you will get to the ROM you want
while you are waiting for those reboots, take time to read at least the first 3 pages of the threads that I put the links above to learn about the problems and what to expect
don't panic very much it will led to bad decision
your phone will be fine as XDA dev. have spent a great deal of time, energy, thoughts on the infuse
once again, hope you understand my noob instruction and esl writing
you phone will be working again
Thanks but I didn't needed these. I may not be a pro but definitely not a noob. I was only responding to the previous comment.
