I updated the phones ROM and rooted it perfectly. In the process of the newest rom update, while in Clockword recovery mode - wipe data was accidentally selected, in the middle of the data wipe I tried to save the phone by removing battery. Now its stuck in bootloop, Recovery mode doesn't even come up, but I succeeded in getting the phone into Download Mode, but it has the Triangle up with CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: YES(2 COUNTS) and CURRENT BINARY :CUSTOM. I have used Odin to try to install the Stock Att version, still no luck. as of now the phone is bricked, and can only get it into download mode. Can somebody please help? Ill die if I can't fix this phone, and Just so you know, I don't have a USB jig to delete the custom binary files. Is that the only way I can get the phone to actually turn on and function? Help plz Im freakin here...

After flashing to factory rom I get this error message: E:failed to mount /dbdata (File exists)

Try using heimdall, go to download mode with that triangle.

Thank you so much, my phone is working now. I just have to find a way to reset the binary download count(get rid of the yellow triangle) without purchasing a USB jig. Any suggestions? Im trying to update firmware to ICS and then Jelly bean. I tried flashing it to a newer version(ics), but then the phone goes back into bootloop (i think bc of flashing it to ics, then jelly bean, and then back to a rooted stock verison), so I have to keep using the rooted stock firmware. Any suggestions? Thank you btw

Getting to download mode is all the USB jig does. U can get it with out one. I believe if u hold down volume and plug in cable. Its something like that I forget. And a return to stock using heimdall or Odin should fix anything

im having troubles too!!
i have a similar problem myself. I rooted my infuse it has cwm9 and ics. but for some reason the phone cuts off and starts boot looping. i cant get it in download mode or recovery. took the battery out put it back in and its starts doing it without touching the power button. ive beat and banged on it still nothing but the loop. this is the longest it has done it, usually it would quit after a few minutes but its going on 24 hours now. any help would be awesome!!!
Try holding the volume up and the volume down (but not the power button) with the USB plug already in the phone and hooked up to the computer and then insert the battery. If you don't get into download then you either need a jig or have a power button problem.

Can get into download mode,
I am able to get into download mode, Ive flashed the OS a number of times back to stalk, then tried ICS, and jelly bean, and I still get the same error message I got at the beginning of this post. But I was able to reset the Binary counter, if I could get my phone to work again I would literally pay somebody to help me....I know it is possible to get it back up and running, it's just a complicated process it seems. Help please!
Chainfire had a program called Triangle Away. Do a search but be careful, it might not work with Infuse and you could get a real brick.

i have bricked my infuse many times, and xda members always have been helpful to me
i am now that the point of believing that my infuse is un-brick-able, so I am writing down my instruction as a noob for you
A/ Preparation in your computer:
1. Install/Update Java (http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp) and Get the driver for the Samsung ready (download and install Kies software at http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SGH-I997ZKAATT)
2. download Heimdall One-Click Back-To-Stock UCKJ4 + Easy CWM install at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331381 (maybe put it right there in the desktop)
3. Download SGH_I997 Entropy 4_4_2012-One-Click-Heimdall.jar (maybe put it right there in the desktop)
4. Download: CM-9-20120620 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601844
5. Download: CWM-community-kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119598
6. Download a rom and gapps ( i use the AvatarROM and Gapps from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2174227)
*connect your phone to the computer and copy and paste the 4, 5, 6 items into your sd card
* i am not so sure where you are at, but maybe you don't need flash the cm-9
what you need to do:
a. pull out the battery, put it back on, holding down both the volume buttons while plug in the use cord, the other end of the usb already plug in the computer, that would put you to the download mode
b. by now your computer would be noticing the phone is connected, you then click the Heimdall at 2 above to turn it on (read that thread so you can know what to expect) if you have the drive and the phone is really connected, then, you can click "flash" and the Heimdall will do it job - don't do anything the phone will be rebooting itself back to stock (in the thread, the dev. said you might need to flash two times, but in my case, I only did once and it worked right away)
c. be happy with result for a while, then you put the phone back to download mode and flash the Entropy Heimdall at 3 above, your phone will get the red recovery if things go the way it should
d. then you wipe everything (maybe no need but whatever... after bricking your phone, it doesn't hurt to spend a min. to do this), 2 wipes at the main red recovery and then go to advance and wipe advik catch and battery state .. i would do every wipe 2 times ... and also select the "fix permissions" in there too
e. then you flash the cwm community kernel at (5) assuming that you already put it in the sd card of your phone (if not, then you choose the option from the the red recovery "connect as usb drive, your computer wil read the phone and allow you to copy and paste - i must say here that I tried this step a few times in order to make it work, i even reboot my computer)
then you flash the ROM and Gapps that you want to (assuming that you already put them in the sd card of the phone)
if jellybean didn't go through then maybe you should try the cm-9 first ...
be patient, very patient if things to the way it should, your phone will reboot a few times and recovery will change its color ... and you will get to the ROM you want
while you are waiting for those reboots, take time to read at least the first 3 pages of the threads that I put the links above to learn about the problems and what to expect
don't panic very much it will led to bad decision
your phone will be fine as XDA dev. have spent a great deal of time, energy, thoughts on the infuse
once again, hope you understand my noob instruction and esl writing
you phone will be working again
Thanks but I didn't needed these. I may not be a pro but definitely not a noob. I was only responding to the previous comment.

That's what version of ODIN I'm using, too. It almost sounds like you were on a voodoo enabled file system and didn't disable voodoo before flashing a non-voodoo ROM. I had a similar problem & had issues.
If you were going from Froyo to GB, I would suggest installing KG4 ((http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183413) as I *think* it was the first GB ROM to come with the proper boot loaders. After that, you should be able to flash other GB ROMs.
Try getting into download mode by removing the battery, plugging the USB cable in, holding down both VOL UP & VOL DOWN at the same time, then put the battery back in. That should get you there.

Yeah, download the Android development kit from Android.com. Make sure your phone is on & plugged in via USB & that you have the USB drivers installed. Once installed, open a command prompt & CD to the "platform-tools" directory where the dev kit indtalled. then type "adb reboot download" & the phone should reboot into download mode.
As I recall, download mode via the vol up & down gets fixed once you have the GB boot loaders installed.

Not sure. What you may want to do is a "Factory data reset". Go into the phone settings, Privacy, & hit factory data reset. Keep in mind, though, that you will lose your text messages, phone contacts, and other settings for the phone (like display settings, etc). If your phone contacts are synched with T-Mobile then they should come back onto the phone all on their own once it syncs.
I had to do that a few times to get my phone acting right after flashing a new ROM.
Also, go into Settings, About Phone, and see what the Firmware Version, Baseband Version, Kernel Version, & Build Number say & let us know.
I have been running on the gb 2.3.3 rom (rooted) that I have flashed using odin back in summer and now decided to do some more upgrading . So I found a new rom that was very intriguing to me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305145 After doing some research I realized I needed to do a different type of flashing (cwm?), and not through odin. So I downloaded root explorer into my phone and followed the procedures in this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122508 but every time I try to put my phone in the recovery mode (holding volume up + down + power) it wouldn't go into the blue screen. Instead, it would just restart, and restart, etc.. Any suggestions? Do I need to do something with the kernels?
p.s.hahah after messing around and looking through forums all day, I got a little impatient and flashed gb 2.3.6 using odin in the mean time

Try this.
Basically do what youre doing but instead of keeping on holding to it, hold on to Volup+voldown+power for 2 reboots, then on the 3rd reboot, the gs4g screen in the beginning lights up a slight lighter than usual. Let go of the power button, See if this works.

It might be because your phone is connected to the computer? If so, try disconnecting it
No its not that, I can access it without it being connected to a computer.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183413
This thread says the original GB rom changed the key mapping. Any ideas on where I can find a fix. I think thats what happened to me.
hmm I'm still relativley new to this kind of stuff as well, so the only route I know that you can do that will most likley fix the problem is to odin to a newer rom, perhaps the one I have linked above, then odin the kernal as well to get it rooted and follow the guide on how to do it if you're confused. Then turn off your phone, hold (volume up + volume down + power), screen should boot up then dissapear, boot up again, then disappear, and on the third boot up, just release the power button but continue holding on to the volume up + volume down buttons and just wait. The cwm screen should come up from what I experienced on two different sgs4g's. Hope that helps somewhat lol. I'm sure there might be a easier way to just fix the key mapping but I'm not to sure on how to do it. gl
I just verified that method works for me as well. I'm lazy, though, and downloaded Quick Boot from the app store as it lets you boot into recovery or download mode. Less fuss.
Hey community.
Long time lurker, first time poster.
Anyhow, my brother bricked his infuse last night. Apparently he tried to flash an incompatible cwm fw (Nexus S) and rebooted it, and now its stuck at the samsung logo. Secondly, i tried to push it into download mode and it continues to loop. I tried to connect it to Odin and it does not recongize the phone, however it freezes at a picture of a wheel (similar to windows hourglass) and doesnt move from there.
i'm assuming its perm bricked at this point, unless you have suggestions.
Others have mentioned "jig" and "unbrickable mod" although I could not find any details further than the terms.
Any help would be appreciated.
Just checking, have you tried this?:
Remove the battery, and disconnect USB.
Hold, and continue to hold both volume keys.
Continue to hold vol. keys, connect USB.
Insert battery and continue to hold vol. keys for awhile.
That should put you in download mode.

Lol next time try heimdale. It for me anyways works first try all the time. I only use Odin when i have to, other then that i always use heimdale. Make sure when you use heimdale plug your phone into another port. Ive figured out that a usb port only recognizes the phone a certain way, as heimdale uses different drivers that you install. On my laptop i have two ports that i do not usually use (one is dedicated to a bluetooth dongle/mouse) so one is set up for odin, the other for heimdale.
Yeah heimdall is the way to go...don't even need drivers...it uses its own special drivers that it will download for you if you don't already have them
Heimdall never fails me...but Odin...well Odin is kinda iffy

This is how i used the hemidall one click to stock here is what I do, below are how i perform using qkster's method...
The USB + Volume Down + Volume Up Method: Download mode (Noticeable by an Android robot digging with a shovel) is reached by taking everything out (Battery, SIM, MicroSD). plug in the USB cable to your computer and phone then putting in battery at the same time Holding the volume buttons both up and down, (Don't press the power button at all in this method).
How to INSTALL:
1. Put your phone into Download Mode.
2. If you have not used Heimdall, you will need to set up the driver for device recognition.
3. Once your device is connected, the DEVICE STATUS should show: CONNECTED. The long FLASH bar will also turn on for flashing.
4. Click on the FLASH button. (In my opinion: I recommend that you do this in a safe environment. Do not disturb your phone will flashing this firmware. Turn off Antivirus. Do not run any other programs, upload/download/youtube/burning DVD etc)
5. Once it has completed, your phone will reboot. You will hopefully see the ATT logo and reboot into STOCK UCLB3.
6. If it did not work, you will have to put it back into DOWNLOAD mode and reflash a second time, with the FLASH BOOTLOADER box checked. This is more likely if you never had proper Gingerbread bootloaders on your phone, if you are coming from FROYO or if you never had Odin a Gingerbread leak to get your bootloaders.
download this file for your one click to stock...and using above directions...
once that is done and you want to put CWM mod on for flashing a custom ROM, same directions to get in to download mod...

samsung i997 bootloop no bootloader solution
Dear guys i'm not saying this will be everybody's case but in my shop we got two of this phones with the issue mentioned above, in the two cases the issue was caused by faulty power button, so before you format or flash your samsung i997 i'll advice to go to youtube search for a diassemble video for your phone take out the main board and with your tester verify that your power button is working properly. If not try to replace the power button. i have soved the two cases that way.
Last night i decided to flash a Rom. When i used qkster's cwm obey click it never left the Samsung screen. I flashed back to stock after 15 minutes. Did i do something wrong or why did it not boot. When i tried to enter recovery after i flashed to stock the Samsung screen. Popped up 2 times before it went to recovery. Anybody know why?
Thanks in advance.

Not sure what you did...not saying you did something wrong but 15min, that is a long time to do the one click method, below are how i perform using qkster's method...is it working your phone good now?
This is more likely if you never had proper Gingerbread bootloaders on your phone, if you are coming from FROYO or if you never had Odin a Gingerbread leak to get your bootloaders.
download this file for your one click to stock...and using above directions...
once that is done and you want to put CWM mod on for flashing a custom ROM, same directions to get in to download mod...
download this file to use the one click to put CWM mod on your phone
here is the link where i took all this...

Hi there. I had a stock S4g, had froyo 2.2.1. I Rooted the phone. That went fine. I went to install a new kernel (baliSGS4G) The instal got interrupted, second reboot had the android logo flashing while the normal galaxy s logo was on, so I knew from there it was screwed up...
It booted up fine actually, and i was able to operate around in on the phone, altho the home button didnt work... I went ahead and tried a restart to see what it would do and it would stick at the galaxy s boot screen and the voice would say "restore operation" and just reboot and be stuck on a boot loop...
I CANNOT get into recovery mode UNLESS I remove my sdcard... if I do I CAN... BUT it seems as tho the cwm recover is somewhat useless to me now that the sdcard isnt in.... If I boot into recovery and THEN put the card in, it saws E: Can't mount /sdcard..
Ive tried wipe cache partition, wipe data/factory reset... nothing..
Any suggestions? THankyou!
use any one of the "one clicks".
p.s. gb is a better os

sorry, i've very novice, what do you mean by the one clicks? Like a one click flash program or something?
And yeah, I actually have a galaxy SIII.....the reason i grabbed this one out is i have a little go pro style project im going to do with it and dont want to risk breaking my new phone.
I will try the newer os If i can get this fixed.. Hopefully!

Second link in signature will help.
Ok Lumin, I did what you said and I am getting to the command promt and it is not seeing my phone, It still shows the phone is disconnected... I have CWM recovery, is that an issue?? That opens when i hold the up,down,up button combo, not the stock download mode screen.
Very well written tutorial btw.

Try One-Click Gremlin Remover to flash and fix. Found this to be easier than Heimdall for the uninitiated: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500427
1 Open Gremlin remover on PC
2. Remove battery from phone
3. Hold down both the Up and Down on the Volume Rocker
4. Plug Phone into USB (without battery)
5. Insert battery into phone and replace cover
The phone should automatically boot into Download mode, and Gremlin Remover should recognize the phone. This should wipe it back to stock but leave it rooted. Then you can start again. I recommend the SGS Kernel Flasher App to flash new kernels in the future. Much less prone to error.
OK its late, i wasnt reading close enough, I was holding the power button too like an idiot... Got it to work, now my phone boots up like new.
Thanks for the help guys.
I can sleep well tonight.:good:

You might refrain from recommending a different flashing utility (ODIN) when somebody has already started using Heimdall and is just asking for help to finish the process. All you are doing is inviting more problems with driver and USB port issues by doing so. You gave him a simple set of instructions that mentioned nothing about drivers.
And SGS Kernel Flasher is great but it only works properly on our GB ROMs.
