Just got my TP today, I like it very much but what I don't like is the Yelowish display.
I had a Kaiser before and the display was lovely Blueish and very bright.
Is this normal for TP to have Yelowish display? or should I take it back for exchange?
Pleas advice
Best Regards

Just read the following thread in the diamond forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411487
It seems that some of the Diamond have Yellowish display and some with the Blueish display.
Very confusing.
Regards
Seems that I am the only one with this problem since there are 41 views and only one reply
Thank you
My new TP is surprisingly being the same condition as you. It attracted me cos its VGA screen. However, compare with my old 818pro, it does not get bit advantage on screen, but come out yellowish.
Do you seem to feel excessive overheating with your phone?
Do you leave it on the charger for a long time?
Do you use non-OEM batteries?

What is all the above got to do with a Yellowish display tint?
no yellow tint here... I mean this sounds strange...
It's probably the same situation as with the Diamond- 2 different suppliers for the screens. If more people chime in then maybe we can see if there are more people who've stayed silent but also have yellowish screens. Mine is white and bright, but I've had my TP for a month and it's probably from a different batch.
Mine is slightly more yellow compared to my Tytn, but nothing annoying.
Hmm mine isn't yellowish, but i do have other screen problems, like teksts that seem to "Burn in" or are still visible on the volume control screen...
Do you also have that problem or only the yellowish ?
A picture is worth a million words, let us see what your talking about. A yellowish screen could be cause by a bad or broken screen cable like it would happen on some laptops after time but that on the phone doesn't sound normal at all especially a new one. If you post a picture maybe we can see your problem. I haven't got mine yet so I have no idea what users are talking about when they say mine is sometimes yellowish or blue.

This is not a screen problem, only the volumescreen that is semi transparant.

its also visible on the boot screen that says "Touch Pro" so it must be a screen / software problem
Thank you all for your replies, I took the phone to HTC and compared it with other phones there and they were all the same.
Seems that they use different types of display or from another manufacturer.
So I just returned it to them and got my mony back as I discovered this before I use the phone.
I did notice that the device they had there as a demo evice was different than mine and the display was like the Kaiser display but they refused to give me another device as the phone is working properly.
Best regards
Um, better get it exchanged then pal...
Yellowish LCD and terrible in different angle-viewing
Yellowish LCD and terrible in different Viewing-angle!

I know that I'm not the only one reporting this, but I'm the first one to provide pictures and video that prove that the problem is not so small as some might think.
It seems HTC started to use lower quality LCD screens with some (maybe all) of the newer Diamond units. These screens have a yellowish tint, and seem to have lower contrast.
Here is the proof (it's a comparison with my old Kaiser):
(both devices are at maximum backlight, and the Diamond's "auto backlight" option is off)
Pictures:
http://img45.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=10590_Picture_003_122_764lo.jpg
http://img24.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=10597_Picture_005_122_672lo.jpg
The difference seen in the picture is a bit exaggarated in comparison to what I see in real life (even though I did not touch the picture with any editing software, this is right from the camera), so I've included a video too, which more accurately portray the differences:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cVGORLm-Qc
(in real life the difference is just a bit more pronounced than in this video)
It is important to notice that without a direct comparison to a unit like the Kaiser (or the first batch of Diamonds), it might be hard to know that your Diamond has this phenomena, because even with this phenomena the screen look decent.
My fear is that both types of LCD screens are going to sell with new Diamond units from now on, making those who bought the yellowish screen unable to ever sell the unit for a decent amount of money (when they feel like upgrading).
We need a formal answer from HTC regarding this issue.

Me too, I was sending my TP to repair after using it for 2 months, due some really dissapointed problem like the LCD screen bottom corner peeling off and sliding keyboard starting to become not align with the body.
So they said they're going to replace the LCD 1st and return to me while waiting for the new stock of sliding keyboard. So I just got back my TP from SIS (HTC Malaysian Distributor) today, and found that the screen became VERY yellowish and terrible in different angle-viewing, besides, the new LCD screen viewing angle is terrible, some more fading off and cloudy, like covered with a greyish+yellowish cloud like that!
I did complain to the girl @ SIS, but she said she can't do anything! "this is the NEW BATCH of original screen from HTC!"
But after 'google' thru the net, I've found a lot of other country Touch Pro/Diamond has this issue. And get replaced a new one for them by HTC. Then why Malaysian can't?! This is unfair!!!!!
DON'T BE SILENT! LET'S SHOUT THIS OUT LOUD TILL THEY REPLACE IT FOR US!!! Check this out, more others has this dissapointing & terrible quality problem for this expensive device!!!

Can anyone with a Nexus S have a look at these photos and compare against their own? I want to be sure my screen is faulty before taking it back. Thanks.

Nice sharp clear text on the i9000:
The same text on the Nexus S:
Looking from an angle, the screen turns even more green/yellow:
Then with brightness turned up full on both:
Now looking from an angle the screen has a very blue tint on the NS, where the i9000 doesn't discolour at all:
The screen starts to look much better after about 50% brightness. Auto-brightness makes it look awful which makes me think the colour profile for the panel is wrong as if the brightness is set to full it's overly bright and has a blue tint.
Does anyone else see this behaviour?
I do have a vibrant so I can compare in the same way... but again there's also differences among Vibrant panels. Anyway, my Vibrant is a bit more blue tinted than my Nexus S, and overall the Nexus S display seems nicer. However, as for viewing angle, the Vibrant doesn't distort at all, while the Nexus S changes color slightly, which I think is due to the gorilla glass in the Vibrant and lack of it in the Nexus S.
Your first pictures... I don't know if it's because of your camera's white balance, but the Nexus S is way too green. If anything, the Nexus S should be warmer (redder/yellower) than the Vibrant, which is what I see and was also reported by many reviewers. Also it should have exactly the same sharpness, so I think your display is kind of messed up... exchange if you can.
It's faulty. I have 3 Vibrant's in my hands right now due to my internal speaker stop working and getting warranty replacements. The warrant replacements both have blue tinted screen, so I asked for yet another. The original Vibrant I had has no blue tint and is gorgeous, but the Nexus S is even more vibrant and gorgeous.
You got a SAMOLED dud exchange it!
Yeah, your nexus S needs to be exchanged.
My S Screen looks even better than your i9000 phone. The colors on the i9000 look a little washed out, or not as vibrant. Of course that could just be the camera your using

to be honest i am kinda tired of going on repeat about this. but there are many bad screens. check my post history. you will find your aswers.
what i can say is there is warm yellow white " defective screen " and cool blue white " good screen "
one of your phones is defective.
Ok I'd say your screen is defective. Funny I placed my nexus one next to the S at the store, and the store unit had exact same issue as yours. My nexus one whites blew it away, it wasn't even close it was that bad. It's screen had some weird tint color like yours. Must have been a bad unit as well.

Sorry for bumping.
My Nexus S has same bluish display when screen brightness is low, exactly same with the pictures in the first post.
When I dim the screen in Clock Application, I can see the purple buttons instead of gray.
When I compare with HD2's LCD screen, HD2 looks even better :S
Should I exchange it? My friend bought it from Bestbuy for me, and I'm not living in US. So it's really hard for me to exchange it :/
Does it really worth to exchange it?
Hello
now I got my second G Flex 2 and i was happy because there wasnt any yellow spot and now there are again there.
I like this phone really. The UI, that its curved and much more but I think the Display is very bad.
If I take my Note 3 side by side and start an lcd test where I choose an Grey Color, on the note 3 everything Looks perfect but on the g Flex it Looks like a bad Quality Display because the Colors are not the same and a few Areas are darker. You Need to look very Long and closely to see that.
If I set brightness lower and look on a White Screen I can see the yellow spots. But the biggest Problem is that the Grey dosent look clear.
Does anyone can confirm that or should I get a third one?
I didint know which Phone I would take.... every other phone is boring..

Your phone got much more and stronger yellow spots but it dosent should have any yellow spot.
I want an perfect Screen and give this phone only one last Chance.
I send it back today and hope for an new one with an good Display.
If it´s the same again, I think I get the One M9
It cost 10€ more a month and 30€ at the beginning.
For the G Flex 2 I pay 50€ a month and 1€ at the beginning. All net and 6GB LTE
Mine is going back for this very reason, I noticed a couple of days ago and its so bad now even on the dialling screen it looks like some one has spilt orange juice, not happy tbh.
Or pissed on it haha. I sold mine. Hope it wont come back.
I just photographed display flex2 and note4:
note at left, flex2 - right.
at both one and the same picture - 80% gray.
It would be nice to know that every g Flex 2 got the same Display Problem.

That´s nice to know.
My replacement had this issue too and now I get a new one.
I hope it arrives today or tomrrow.
First I didint see any yellow spot and was happy. After a few days I saw that on a Grey Screen the Colors dont look perfect.
Like with a bad backlight on a few spots. Last try for this phone :/
Get another device why you can, it seems most people are. I loved my flex 2 but it was just issue after issue for a new device. I had 2 of them before i went with the note 4
Well a little update for you all......
Replacement had exactly the same issue, so sent that back and kept the original one. I then went directly to the Vodafone shop. The 2 they had in stock had the same issue.
So I'm now conversing with LG directly.
I would suggest, in the UK at least, that anyone with an similar issue creates a ticket on their system and it may gain a bit more weight.
Really ? :/
Now I think every LG G Flex 2 have this issue.
So I shouldnt get a new LG G Flex 2?
I only like the M9 but not so much like the LG G Flex 2

Guys ..
It is a production `problem` and keep in mind that pOLED and other OLED/SuperOLED displays are very, VERY different. pOLED you can bend, thus the curvy flex.. It is not a problem as someone call it, but a production issue, as they are very expensive to produce. So dont be alarmed or something.. It is not visible on any other colours/backgrounds but grey. So.. Keep calm, and flex 2 .
)
Its not an an cheap phone so I want an good screen and if I see a litle yellow Spot once, i Look on that again and again.
I hope that the next one is ok.
Vodafone have a 48 hour exchange Service but I dont trust them. Never again Vodafone
I totally understand you though, it is not a cheap phone and there should be no problems with the display.. But it is a different technology as I said previously .. So..
A also have seen some discoloration on a grey background, and on some other colours when screen brightness is at 0 , but it is not a game changer for me.. I like the phone and that it is almost invisible so.. It is what it is.
No reply from LG, STILL, but I decided to turn the brightness up full, after a couple of days there was no yellow on a white screen at all.
I am now turning the brightness down slightly each day to see at what point it comes back.
On a side note there appears to be very little difference, if any, in battery life to the screen full up or low :/
Hm.. That is interesting to hear. Will try that ..
I dont realy understand how and why they have disappeared though..
Sent from my LG-H955 using XDA Free mobile app
Will try that too.
I got now my third Device and i think that every g flex 2 have this problem. I try to live with that but if that dosent work i try to get another device like G4, P8 or M9
Im on 10c and everything runs smooth
I'll never in my life get a perfect phone.. ever. out of every android I've had, none have ever been perfect.
either way, how's everyone's screen uniformity? I just realized that my screen is brighter towards the bottom left and much darker as it goes to the top left. so annoying. only really notice it on gray backgrounds ugh but you can kinda even see it on white too. pretty annoying but i really dont know if it's even worth swapping it out, because i know with my crap luck I'll get another one that's even worse.
so how's yours?

I already had this problem with 3 different S6 so I'm really disappointed the issue is still present with the S7. Got a RMA but it may takes 3 weeks for a replacement thanks to the ****ty consumer service in my country .
Here is a shot of the problem (the 2 shots are the same I have just augmented contrast on the second one to clearly see the problem).
http://imgur.com/a/aThlj
damn, thats definitely worse than mine. the bottom of mine is just brighter and the top is darker, which can be a bit annoying. I notice it if I go landscape and pull down the drop down bar if I'm using a theme that has a darker color.. or if the status bar is colored like hangouts, the left side (top) will be a darker green than the right (bottom) which just looks brighter.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S7 using Tapatalk
Yup...same on my new S7. Green tint on the bottom, pinkish tint on top. Not as pronounced as on my previous S6, but still noticable. Have to use the phone a bit the upcoming days to find out how much it will annoy me, and whether I will return the phone.

hmm. well, gray is the WORST culprit for AMOLED screens to show fault. man, i remember the galaxy s3 days when I worked for verizon..when i was ready to buy mine, i checked each phone before picking the one i wanted because no lie, i saw so many amoled issues with splotchy screens and just lines in the screen that you can see on gray. remember hte days of blotchy ink looking on a black screen too? man, this is kinda reminding me of the S3 days haha nostalgia i guess..
if anyone has a screen with perfect gray uniformity (and without pink / green discoloration), please post.
My got this problem too. I'll send it back to service on Monday, don't want to ignore this issue.
On bright screen it is difficult to see but on lower screen in dark rooms it's an disturbing effect.

This is a common problem since the Galaxy S2 days, a lot of consumers have accepted this as a norm which leads me to believe that samsung is just slacking on the quality control. Im getting an S7 soon I have high hopes on the screen lottery..

An amoled screen should be pitch black, for it does not activate black pixels, i havent see this before, you should go back with your S7.
those are gray images not black.

so here's some anecdotal evidence. went through 3 Edge and 4 regular display models and only 1 regular (gold) variant had perfect grey uniformity and pretty even whites. the rest showed very pronounced gradient effect with the grey background on either top or bottom.
Hello guys i have a question: is it normal that i can see horizontal and vertical lines forming something like a pixel grid ( maybe it's the pixel grid itself) on the screen especially while watching white images with high brightness? Is it something that every xz premium have or is it just a problem of my Phone?*
Thanks for everyone that Will help me. This thing is Making me pretty sad because the screen look like an old (really old) generation one

Can you take a picture of what you are seeing with another camera?
I've tryed but my cameras aren't able to focus on such micro details. The lines im talking about are perpendicular to the edges and form micro squares just like a pixel grid; its an hardware thing not some effect showed from the display. I Hope that i have explained it better and sorry for my English. Thanks a lot for helping me.*

Really strange, I would also suggest returning your phone. I personally can see a slight zig-zag pattern when the screen is at full brightness showing pure white.
Or maybe it's just my brain playing tricks on me...
Yeah it's like a texture on the screen and not only with white, with every light color like green light Grey and light blue for example in Facebook is visible everywhere.

I got some pics. Look for example at the chrome icon. It's pixellated like in an iPhone 3gs. This is all clearly visible in all the screen just with certain colours is more evident. http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/594ea14fc7c1c/image1-1.JPG

I have the same 'problem'. I believe all XZP phones will have it as it is caused by the strange pixel arrangement, so exchanging your phone won't change anything.

this make me sad cause i can clearly see it with naked eyes and. i was expecting best display ww and get a pixellated one like an iPhone 3gs lmao such a joke.
Here's some more info
I think if the pixels were completely straight and vertical we wouldn't notice this effect as much. After all this is a 4K display with 806 ppi so our eyes shouldn't be able to distinguish between the individual pixels. I'd like to check out the S8's screen and see if I can notice a similar effect as well.
I see the same thing on my XZ Premium. I can see the pattern quite easily when I browse the internet in bed. My HTC U11 looks far sharper at the same distance. Even my Mate 9 (1080p @ 5.9") looks sharper... I do see some sort of pattern on the HTC U11 and Mate 9, but it is a more subtle pattern that doesn't jump out at you as much as the XZ Premium.
I am assuming this issue is probably just a combination of the odd pixel layout and whatever sub-pixel interpolation Sony is doing to upscale 1080p to 2160p. It is a little disappointing to see this so easily on the screen.
At first I thought I had a defective phone since every review is talking about the insane ppi and how sharp everything is... I guess there are some people like us who see this pattern more easily than others...
Edit: Added pictures
I'd like to look at a LG G6 screen and compare. It also has a zig-zag pixel pattern.
Strange that no reviewers noticed this pattern on the XZP. I've also tried to load a 4k white image and upon close inspection nothing changed, so I don't thing the up-scaling is to blame here.
Here are pictures of my Mate 9 and U11 for comparison's sake. These patterns are difficult to see with the naked eye unless I look close and very carefully.
I only notice the screen resolution being set tp full hd, try a 4k movie and I don't see any grid like stuff anymore

Look at the skie in this 4k video (yes I've setted it in 4k).i can clearly see the pixellation in light colours like in the skie. What about you?

I can also see the grid on bright/white colors. Very dissapointing for a 4k display with high ppi
I've tried all test device in stores and also see the lines. Even with my own device

I don't think it's from the digitizer.
