YELLOWish Display, Is this normal ? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Just got my TP today, I like it very much but what I don't like is the Yelowish display.
I had a Kaiser before and the display was lovely Blueish and very bright.
Is this normal for TP to have Yelowish display? or should I take it back for exchange?
Pleas advice
Best Regards

Just read the following thread in the diamond forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411487
It seems that some of the Diamond have Yellowish display and some with the Blueish display.
Very confusing.
Regards

Seems that I am the only one with this problem since there are 41 views and only one reply
Thank you

My new TP is surprisingly being the same condition as you. It attracted me cos its VGA screen. However, compare with my old 818pro, it does not get bit advantage on screen, but come out yellowish.

Do you seem to feel excessive overheating with your phone?
Do you leave it on the charger for a long time?
Do you use non-OEM batteries?

What is all the above got to do with a Yellowish display tint?

no yellow tint here... I mean this sounds strange...

It's probably the same situation as with the Diamond- 2 different suppliers for the screens. If more people chime in then maybe we can see if there are more people who've stayed silent but also have yellowish screens. Mine is white and bright, but I've had my TP for a month and it's probably from a different batch.

Mine is slightly more yellow compared to my Tytn, but nothing annoying.

Hmm mine isn't yellowish, but i do have other screen problems, like teksts that seem to "Burn in" or are still visible on the volume control screen...
Do you also have that problem or only the yellowish ?

A picture is worth a million words, let us see what your talking about. A yellowish screen could be cause by a bad or broken screen cable like it would happen on some laptops after time but that on the phone doesn't sound normal at all especially a new one. If you post a picture maybe we can see your problem. I haven't got mine yet so I have no idea what users are talking about when they say mine is sometimes yellowish or blue.

This is not a screen problem, only the volumescreen that is semi transparant.

its also visible on the boot screen that says "Touch Pro" so it must be a screen / software problem

Thank you all for your replies, I took the phone to HTC and compared it with other phones there and they were all the same.
Seems that they use different types of display or from another manufacturer.
So I just returned it to them and got my mony back as I discovered this before I use the phone.
I did notice that the device they had there as a demo evice was different than mine and the display was like the Kaiser display but they refused to give me another device as the phone is working properly.
Best regards

Um, better get it exchanged then pal...

I know that I'm not the only one reporting this, but I'm the first one to provide pictures and video that prove that the problem is not so small as some might think.
It seems HTC started to use lower quality LCD screens with some (maybe all) of the newer Diamond units. These screens have a yellowish tint, and seem to have lower contrast.
Here is the proof (it's a comparison with my old Kaiser):
(both devices are at maximum backlight, and the Diamond's "auto backlight" option is off)
Pictures:
http://img45.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=10590_Picture_003_122_764lo.jpg
http://img24.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=10597_Picture_005_122_672lo.jpg
The difference seen in the picture is a bit exaggarated in comparison to what I see in real life (even though I did not touch the picture with any editing software, this is right from the camera), so I've included a video too, which more accurately portray the differences:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cVGORLm-Qc
(in real life the difference is just a bit more pronounced than in this video)
It is important to notice that without a direct comparison to a unit like the Kaiser (or the first batch of Diamonds), it might be hard to know that your Diamond has this phenomena, because even with this phenomena the screen look decent.
My fear is that both types of LCD screens are going to sell with new Diamond units from now on, making those who bought the yellowish screen unable to ever sell the unit for a decent amount of money (when they feel like upgrading).
We need a formal answer from HTC regarding this issue.

Me too, I was sending my TP to repair after using it for 2 months, due some really dissapointed problem like the LCD screen bottom corner peeling off and sliding keyboard starting to become not align with the body.
So they said they're going to replace the LCD 1st and return to me while waiting for the new stock of sliding keyboard. So I just got back my TP from SIS (HTC Malaysian Distributor) today, and found that the screen became VERY yellowish and terrible in different angle-viewing, besides, the new LCD screen viewing angle is terrible, some more fading off and cloudy, like covered with a greyish+yellowish cloud like that!
I did complain to the girl @ SIS, but she said she can't do anything! "this is the NEW BATCH of original screen from HTC!"
But after 'google' thru the net, I've found a lot of other country Touch Pro/Diamond has this issue. And get replaced a new one for them by HTC. Then why Malaysian can't?! This is unfair!!!!!
DON'T BE SILENT! LET'S SHOUT THIS OUT LOUD TILL THEY REPLACE IT FOR US!!! Check this out, more others has this dissapointing & terrible quality problem for this expensive device!!!

I was going to suggest getting an eye test, but there's an obvious difference.
It's scandalous (for Diamond owners anyway)

Nice sharp clear text on the i9000:
The same text on the Nexus S:
Looking from an angle, the screen turns even more green/yellow:
Then with brightness turned up full on both:
Now looking from an angle the screen has a very blue tint on the NS, where the i9000 doesn't discolour at all:
The screen starts to look much better after about 50% brightness. Auto-brightness makes it look awful which makes me think the colour profile for the panel is wrong as if the brightness is set to full it's overly bright and has a blue tint.
Does anyone else see this behaviour?
I do have a vibrant so I can compare in the same way... but again there's also differences among Vibrant panels. Anyway, my Vibrant is a bit more blue tinted than my Nexus S, and overall the Nexus S display seems nicer. However, as for viewing angle, the Vibrant doesn't distort at all, while the Nexus S changes color slightly, which I think is due to the gorilla glass in the Vibrant and lack of it in the Nexus S.
Your first pictures... I don't know if it's because of your camera's white balance, but the Nexus S is way too green. If anything, the Nexus S should be warmer (redder/yellower) than the Vibrant, which is what I see and was also reported by many reviewers. Also it should have exactly the same sharpness, so I think your display is kind of messed up... exchange if you can.
It's faulty. I have 3 Vibrant's in my hands right now due to my internal speaker stop working and getting warranty replacements. The warrant replacements both have blue tinted screen, so I asked for yet another. The original Vibrant I had has no blue tint and is gorgeous, but the Nexus S is even more vibrant and gorgeous.
You got a SAMOLED dud exchange it!
Yeah, your nexus S needs to be exchanged.
My S Screen looks even better than your i9000 phone. The colors on the i9000 look a little washed out, or not as vibrant. Of course that could just be the camera your using

to be honest i am kinda tired of going on repeat about this. but there are many bad screens. check my post history. you will find your aswers.
what i can say is there is warm yellow white " defective screen " and cool blue white " good screen "
one of your phones is defective.
Ok I'd say your screen is defective. Funny I placed my nexus one next to the S at the store, and the store unit had exact same issue as yours. My nexus one whites blew it away, it wasn't even close it was that bad. It's screen had some weird tint color like yours. Must have been a bad unit as well.

Sorry for bumping.
My Nexus S has same bluish display when screen brightness is low, exactly same with the pictures in the first post.
When I dim the screen in Clock Application, I can see the purple buttons instead of gray.
When I compare with HD2's LCD screen, HD2 looks even better :S
Should I exchange it? My friend bought it from Bestbuy for me, and I'm not living in US. So it's really hard for me to exchange it :/
Does it really worth to exchange it?

Someone with the phone please try this(possible screen flaw)

Hey guys-
I have the galaxy s6 and I have a weird problem which I think may or may not be burn in. Someone please take the phone outside and try this:
1. Put phone under as much sunlight as possible
2. Open display to white screen.
3. Now look at the borders of the display(about 1 inch from top and bottom and 1/4 inch from left and right side.
Do you see a grey color line bordering that chunk of the display?
I am thinking of contacting t-mobile but my gut tells me this is in the design of the display assembly. Please let me know. Thanks in advance guys.

Yeah from what I've heard the battery in the S6 is a joke, but I'm not too worried due to fast charging being supported.
Still I think it's a bit of a slap in the face that they would remove the replaceable battery option AND give it a terribly small battery in the same design change, they would have been far better off making the device thicker so the camera doesn't stick out like a sore thumb and increase the battery life to fit the remainder.
Ah well. May need to buy a battery pack for when I go on holidays.

I'm noticing this same issue on my AT&T Galaxy S6. With auto brightness in direct sunlight, there's a weird dark black/grey frame around the edges of the screen on white backgrounds. It's kind of an unusual pattern, my guess is that it's related to how the phone is built... Would be nice to know how widespread this issue is.

Is this true? I compared with a friend's S6 and his didn't seem to have this problem. This is beginning to bother me more and more. I use my phone a lot, and that includes under the sunlight, and the lines are just way too noticeable to ignore. It doesn't even have to be highest brightness; it's still visible under 60-75% brightness under the sun. Do you know if it is the same on the Edge? Because if the Edge doesn't have this problem I think I'm going to turn my S6 in for it.
I have exact same issue with my at&t unit. I got my phone before release date so I thought maybe it was a defective unit. I returned it yesterday and got it replaced by at&t under warranty. I checked the new phone and it has the exact same issue. This leads me to believe it's probably like this for all s6 units out there. If more people can report back on if this is happening to them, it could really help us figure out if all the phones are effected

I don't know anyone with the edge so I can't confirm if the issue is there. I returned the phone because of this issue actually. It is quite annoying once you see it.

I had this exact issue with a Verizon S6. I exchanged the unit. I can still see faint lines on the new unit in direct sunlight, but I can't say I would notice them if I hadn't noticed the much darker ones on the original unit.
Oddly, I was also having the issue some people have described of unusually high cell standby drain. With the new phone I don't have that issue anymore.
Just to be sure, this black line between the red arrows is what you're talking about, right? I just thought this is the way it's made. Should I exchange it? It would be nice to get one with little cell standby drain. Maybe it won't lose 15% overnight.

*edit* I just re-read the first post 1 inch from top/bottom isn't that border I pointed out.
I'll have to check again next time the sun comes out.
I have found exactly the same issue on mine. But it's only noticeable in direct sunlight it seems. At present it isn't a deal breaker for me but it's certainly a bit odd. I'd wager it is indeed a byproduct of the screen assembly. It seems so widespread that I don't think it's even worth exchanging.

They just made a hotfix through Play Store. Download "Samsung Push Service", but mine is quite well.
With Samsung Gear 2 connected with bluetooth all day, location and LTE on, weather widget and 2 hours SOT and 8 hours from being plugged out, it is around 55%, which seems fine for me.
It would definitely be better if I stop using my gear 2.

Hardware differences within same model (STF-L09)

Hello fellow XDA people.
I recently acquired a second Honor 9 unit which is the Midnight Black. My first one is a Blue. There seem to be a few hardware differences between these two units. First of all is the screen and I seriously doubt they are made by the same manufacturer because of their obvious differences. The main difference is the viewing angles that differs hugely. My blue unit has really amazing viewing angles for being an LCD while the black unit loses a lot of its brightness very quickly and looks way more dull from an angle. Also the white balance differ a lot between the two the blue one has a more blur/green shift to it while the black untit has a much more warm and "fuller" white balance to it. It's impossible to calibrate them to look the same they are just different. The blue units screen look somewhat duller in comparison even though it wins easily in viewing angles. The black unit has more contrast and just generally looks more "lifelike" and warmer. It's also the most even screen I have ever seen in terms of uniformity (not that the blue one is bad). The glas front also has a different "texture" across the screen. On the blue I can really only see the digitizer marks but on the black I have this other small faint "sparkling dots" effect that some screen protectors can give at times. Nothing serious but it's there and the glas on the blue unit looks a little clearer.
The second difference is the fingerprint reader. It's waay faster on the blue unit while it's much much slower on the black one when I compare. One the blue it's instant I can't even make it fault even if I try to tap very fast. The one on the black unit has this delay and it's clearly not as fast to read my finger. The black unit also has a small delay when pressing it to go back to the homescreen while it does it instantly on the blue one which makes it feels faster in operation.
Both has touch screen issues and both run B130 firmware. The black one unfortunately shipped with B130. However there are differences here too the black one has more severe touch problems than the blue. The touch is seriously borked on the black one with both delays and lags and it's harder to use because of this. To the border of unusable really. Something must be seriously wrong with the software that makes the touch go bonkers I doubt I have hardware fault with both of them that makes them behave a little differently. Guessing this is mainly why updates have been pulled by Huawei.

Return the black one and ask for a replacement immediately
For sure this is a prove that they use different factorys for screens but this is not a news because many brands to this ( xiaomi is the first I could mention ), to me this is a case of bad or not perfect gluing of digitizer on the black one. Was a different font used between the two too or?

In fact I prefer the display on the black one it looks much better so I don't want to get rid of it specially not when I have gotten such a perfect screen regarding uniformity I never get very lucky with this historically. I will wait for software update and see if it fixes things in the end they both have the same problem that I haven't seen on any of the 4 units I have tested in store with B100.

It's not really lag. It's some thing were it takes the screen a few millimeters of swiping before content starts moving. Taps and such are instant while typing on keyoard so the digitizer doesn't lag in itself. We are many with this problem and for most the issue apperared after updating to B130 while it was fine on B100.

I definitely have a little better battery life on the black one. It just seems more energy efficient. Perhaps the screen is more power efficient than the other variant I don't know. But something it is as I feel it has about 10-20% better battery life than the blue unit.
Also, today out of nowhere the delay went away when pressing the fingerprint reader to go back to the homescreen. It's just instant on the black unit now too. Didn't change a thing which seems weird. Oh well I don't complain.

-Screen: definitely the black unit. It has way better contrast and much better whites. The screen just "pops" more on the black. The screen on the blue looks a bit dull in comparison. However the viewing angles on the blue are much much better. Don't really care though because it's me who's gonna use the unit and not someone beside me.
-Battery: the black one seems to have some kind of advantage. The same usage that gives me 5 hour SOT on the blue gives me around 6 hours on the black. I'm guessing the display is a little more power efficient perhaps.
-Fingerprint reader: the one on the blue is much faster to read my fingers. It definitely wins this one.
Besides those points I have not really noticed anything more that seems to differ.

Yellow tint on bottom of screen

Hello guys,
I am coming from HTC 10 and just bought a Huawei P20.
Unfortunately I am not fully satisfied because of the screen. Even with highest brightness set, the bottom of the screen seems to have a yellow tint..
It is noticeable on app with white background (for example Gmail).
I tried changing the white balance in settings, but the display is not homogeneous, and still has a yellow tint at the bottom / or maybe a lower brightness.
This is rather poor with respect to the price in Europe (650 euros)
Does any owner notice the same issue ?
Thank you for your feedback.

Yes this is exactly what I am getting on my device and I am thinking of changing under 30 days policy, I bought from 1st day of release from Carphonewarehouse UK , also camera has waves coming through when taking pics of monitors or TV screen
As I bough it directly in store they would keep fees for exchange / refund...
And if they accept it is a defect, they will probably send it to their repair center.
The best option would be the issue is acknoledged by Huawei directly if lots of users are concerned, followed by replacement process.

Do you have the black or blue one?
I came to the store and it seems blue one is better regarding screen uniformity
Moreover did you keep the out-of-box screen protector?
Thanks
i have the blue and i keep the original protection screen
Thanks for your answer, @onlinejobwork, which color did you buy?
Maybe there were poor screen batches for black edition...

Blue one, single SIM , UK version , EML- L09, screen protector attached
EML-L29 C432 Black with natural tone on: No yellow tint, or at least I cannot notice it because I have a slight problem with colors
I dont have yellow tint. Black version. Screen protector on
No yellow tint on my P20 Blue on all screen settings.
With original screen protector.
Sent from my EML-L29 using XDA Labs
I just got a black P20 yesterday ( EML-L29 ). I didn't notice it, until I saw this topic here. It's subtle, but there definitely is a yellowish darker tint on the bottom of the screen, mostly in the bottom right corner. I wonder what they'll say if I go back to the shop with it...

Edit:
This issue seems to be a bit less noticeable, if you change the screen temperature to something a little colder, than the default setting.

Thanks, this is exactly the issue! In a global manner the screen is rather yellow but you can change the settings to set "cold color" to improve the situation.
Hower there is still a darker/more yellow area at the bottom as shown on your picture...
Could this be just a problem with the viewing angle? It's a rather tall display, and kinda seems like when you hold the phone and tilt it backward and forward it improves / gets worse. Or am I imagining things?

I do not think so. If you display a white screen and flip the phone (fingerprint scanner on top), you will see the concerned area remains darker.
Maybe this could be the screen protector but rather seems related to the screen itself

I really got the same problem, went to some stores they were also affected. I got a replaced device yesterday but the same problem( I thought nobody would notice it but i see there are more people who has the problem. Bad QC control of huawei...)
Hello,
I do not dare removing the screen protector to ensure it is not the culprit (as I think I will get the phone back to the shop...).
Has anyone tried?
What seems bad is that as mentionned by Ieozt38 and as I saw by meself, lots (if not all) of units seem affected in the shops I visited. Thus an exchange would just be lost time..
Maybe we have to wait for the next batches which may have better screen?
Can those participating to this thread share the first digits of their serial number?
Maybe those after a given number are not concerned or something like that.
Mine: UBV02183100.....
Thank you
Just got mine yesterday after a trade in from the Sony ZX2, I put on a white screen and the tone of the white is inconsistent, but not much, some parts of the white is ok, whiles some has a slight black tint/or slight tone in the white, I think it's a characteristic of a LCD and how the back light is lit, so yes, you may get a soft tint of variable colors include yellow, black white and so on. It's also how your eyes see it. I think it's normal, but everyone one has their opinion on this.

Mine came with a protective film with a pull tab, then a preinstalled screen protector under it, I removed both to check for scratches, as there is no exchange if found with scratches, i'm going to put on a glass screen protector anyway, so removing them is a matter of time.
My first unit wasn't about a tint on the screen, but the brightness is ultra low, compared this with my P10 and the shops unit, had a second unit out, and compared the first and second one, probably something with the LCD or back lit light, some people on this forum will probably have this problem, but you must have two unit to see it.
I think is the orientation. But, yes, I have too a yellow tint screen at the bottom.
Black, in Spain. Glass Protector.
Hello,
I finally returned the phone to the shop, and lost some money...
For the next phone I will check screen quality before buying.
I noted the screen of Honor 9 lite looks better and more homogeneous, whereas it is 3 times less expensive .

Are you experiencing purple spots, green tint, or a burned image on screen?

Howdy folks, it seems the new Moto Edge 5G is exhibiting the same issues as seen on the Moto Edge+ since they share the same screen hardware. These issues are popping up usually within a few days of ownership and are starting to flood the moto support forums. Since we're an amazing group of members here at XDA, I figured I'd try to nail down some common ground and create a thread to discuss.
If your screen is exhibiting one of the following issues, please reply to the thread with the symptoms, the manufacturer birth-date (on bottom of phone's box), and a photo if possible. Please also share how long the phone was used before symptoms appeared, and whether it had been after a prolonged use period like all day gaming, or just poof it happened.
My Moto Edge 5G is exhibiting the purple splotches around the edges of the screen as well as the green tint.
Manufacturer Birthday: 07/09/2020
Appeared after 4th day of ownership, after long day of sporadic use.
I have a green haze right around the edges and I can't tell if that is apart of an edged screen. Will continue to monitor it.
If it's like the Edge plus and they basically share the same screen I doubt it will get better and will likely need a replacement phone. They did push a software update to the Edge plus that supposedly helped some phones if it hadn't started yet or was very early in the process.
As a person who is in the market for a new device due to a failing battery in my HTC 10, what would the general consensus be on buying and Edge right now? If it matters, I'd buy from the big yellow tag place since they have it in stock and are close. And then if the device has to be returned as well...
Wish they made the G Stylus with 5G

At the $500 price point it was a great deal, at its current $700 price point... I'd go elsewhere. Especially with the widespread screen problems, just look at the reviews on the yellow tag store.
Here's a great photo of the green symptoms side by side. Left is the old one, right is the new one. Pretty significant.

Are you trying to talk me back into getting one now?
*sigh* this is a case where you want something to work out so bad, you try to find excuses to ignore facts. and the $700+ price tag.
it just looks gorgeous.

There's no proof the new one won't start it in a few days. if you want to spin the wheel of chance, go for it. But at $700 I think there's better options out there. OnePlus Nord, Pixel 4a 5G.
Haven't experienced any screen problems, I purchased my device unlocked for $349.99, which is amazing for a 5G device
I will add my $0.02 to this and say I believe it is an LED issue. LEDs might not be getting the right voltage at low levels. Try with an all-white photo. lower your brightness. I bet you could not tell. Try with any other color and you will probably not tell. It is most notable with a super dark grey picture. The kind of dark grey that has a hint of green in it already. Turn the brightness all the way down, then up to about 15-20 percent. You should be able to see it then. I think it is an LED voltage control issue. Software update that was mentioned by one of you up above would make sense to me. Maybe I might just be imagining things or mine is just different than every one elses. The way mine started was at the top of the screen showed it lightly, then it got a bit worse. It has stayed since then. I bought this on the 2nd of August, received it on the 4th. Screen started on the 10th. Today the 16th has not had a change since I believe the 13th, if I remember correctly. It is rooted with Magisk and EdXposed. I might make a return/repair request tomorrow.
So I'm at 4 days with my replacement Edge and it's working correctly so far.
#3 unit
Another replacement unit.
Finger crossed
you really scare me with your screen problems. For the moment (5 days) I have no problem with my Edge (purchase in France) but what scares me is that it does not happen immediately and I do not have a purchase invoice (gift) .... I hope I have no problem soon: /
I really hesitate to sell it quickly so as not to have a problem ....
I have a very Little problema when I'm on dark grey screen with 2 or 3 % of brightness in 90hz mode... if I try to use 60hz mode the display is absolutely perfect..
Ok i have green tint...only at low brightness i have it...i'm si dissapointed....
I don't know what the HELL is happening
Moto Edge is not alone
https://www.sammobile.com/news/infa...sue-returns-galaxy-tab-s7-plus-note-20-ultra/
They can fix it by letting us adjust screen hues , like how Samsung has , so we can calibrate it
Yep, just noticed it today. Took awhile (bout 3weeks). I've been in dark mode, and my wallpaper's of blackness, didn't notice. It's severely getting worse, quickly. Did anyone notice, after the September update? Time to contact best buy.
Mine started out pretty minor, but has been getting progressively worse over the last few weeks. Initially seemed heat related as I only noticed it while using Google Maps in navigation mode. IT would start out as slight dark ghosting of the screen image on the right side of the screen and would progressively creep to the left side. Mostly it's a darkening of the correct image by ghost image of higher up, in particular it's seen as a dark circle where the front camera is. If the part of the image being ghosted is a strong color it will be ghosted in green or purple. As the screen is scrolled the ghosted images move as well. It's since gotten to the point normal usages more then 10-15 mins cause the issue. If I use the camera too long in the heat or sun then the lower part of the screen will go white and the touch digitizer stops working. Attached is a photo taken while the screen was 2/3s white with my company iPhone.
The warranty replacement arrives tomorrow. I just ran the most recent update QPD30.114-23-2 installed claiming fixes for screen issues, but still saw the ghosting after the reboot.
