[Solved] Bricked htc recovery....? - HTC Desire S

Hey guys i have a big problem
i just wanted to install the official ics because other custom roms have many bugs...
but then the official ics won't start... i've reboot the phone to revolutionary HBOOT.
i have selected recovery... and then i saw a black screen.... recovery is damaged...
but HBOOT is working but i don't know what do do?
My question is how can i get recovery back and OFFICIAL ICS installed in my phone
Please i need reply!
MY HBOOT is 6.98.1002
Radio 3831.19.00.110
thx

i flashed it again from bootloader but still a black screen after RUU flash

This is being asked twice a week. Please search, or just look at the threads - no more than a couple of forum pages and you'll find the answers.
And stock ICS has bad bugs.

HELP: Every rom different than sense 3.0 stucks at HTC logo screen

Hello everyone,
I have a Desire S S-ON, rooted, HBOOT is 2.00.0002 and radio 3822.10.08.04_M.
My problem is that the only ROMs I can successfully flash are the SENSE 3.0 roms, SENSE 3.5 roms will stuck on the HTC logo after reboot (the flashing process is successfull), and the same thing for MIUI.
I would like so much to have the MIUI rom as I had on my old Desire, but I cannot find a way to fix the problem, I have also installed 4ext recovery instead of ClockWork but nothing changes
Thanks a lot for anyone who might help, I tried to search in lot of forums but did not find a solution..

How to go back to the stock HTC Room? "Remove the root"

Hey
Thanks to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525100
finally i rooted my HTC Desire S
and i installed this room "[Fallout Evolution V4.4.0|Sense 4.0A| ICS 4.03] [Kernel Stock 3.0.16]" from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679125
but i found it has many bugs and the browser is very laggy and sluggish so i decided to come back and run the official stock room again
so my question is how i can remove the rooting and make the phone like nothing happened to it, like the first time i bought it?
how can i install the official stock room again to get OTA updates normally again??
Sorry for my little informations in this but this is my first time to root so am not expert
thanks in advance
Search and read - this has been answered literally hundreds of times. It will all depend on your hboot, how you got S-Off etc - but the answers are already out there.
If you are capable of reading to get where you are, then you are more than capable of reading and getting back.
The first thing that you should do is to search for threads with similar question to understand the basics.
Than:
1) find your version:
fastboot getvar version-main
2) find a RUU according to the version
Look for the sticky thread "Shipped ROMs collection for Desire S"
If there is no such look for a downgrade guide
If there is a such RUU available, continue:
3) lock the bootloader
fastboot oem lock
4) use the RUU
Done.

Good luck

If your problem is the functions of the rom, then maybe it's much safer for you to just try a different rom. There are lots of threads discussing best roms. Succes

Question about Viper rom

Hey everyone, made an account just for this question but it turns out I can't ask it in the appropriate forum thread because I'm a noob.
So here it goes: just rooted my phone for the first time and installed the Viper rom using Rom Manager, and it's stuck in the boot screen. Think it's been like this for 10 minutes now. Is this normal, or what should I do?

Upgrade your firmware to 3.33 - follow the [GUIDE] posts and tools in Sensation General and Development forums - note: you may need to S-OFF, in which case if your hboot version is 1.17 or 1.18 go to revolutionary.io else go to unlimited.io - for JuopunutBear S-OFF it is best to follow the guides by ganeshp in Sensation General forum

Thanks a bunch, Although I think I do have a serious problem, since the recovery image sends me back to the viper rom - the one which won't go past the boot screen.
I have my phone plugged into my computer but my computer won't recognize the phone (it's in bootload mode) "recovery" goes back to the viper rom, as well as the factory reset. (and I did back up my unrooted version but I think because I hit the backup thing in the viper installation it overwrote that)
So yeah. Did i just **** up my phone for good? =\
(and thanks for responding )
[[ Edit : I've taken my SD card out of my phone, and mounted it into a card reader and am now putting a stock rom onto the SD card, going to see if I can install the stock rom and work from there. ]]

Hi,
Try following THIS GUIDE
Start again from scratch.Follow it to the letter.
Well, Reporting back here.
I first installed this ROM back http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529941 back onto my phone to get it functional again,
then I followed This thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472298
followed up by doing everything here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
checked my phones versions : Android 4.0.3 , Sense 3.6 and software version 3.33.401.106
felt confident of trying the viper ROM again, but it's stuck on it's loading screen again. What do you guys advice? I think I'm going to try a different ROM just to see what happens.
Also wanted to thank both of you for trying to help, it's much appreciated.

Hi,
When you are s-on,you have to use smartflash in 4EXT every time you install a ROM.
I think there is a way described in Asskicker's thread to enable it permanently.
Read through the thread.
Hi just thought I jump in on this thread as I also do not have permission to post directly in Rom thread...
Running latest version of Viper 1.3.5 and must say it's great...
When sound profile is on loud, and screen turns off there's a notification sound each time. Any way to switch this sound off? I've searched through tweaks and personalisation settings can't see anything.
Not a show stopper by any means just curious

[Q] Desire S touchscreen not respondig after ICS RUU upgrade

Hi,
I've a strange problem.
At the last day I tried to upgrade my DS with RUU (stock ICS rom, downloaded form the offical HTC site)
The flashing finished successfully, after system boot up I can't do anything. The touch screen simply not working.
I tried with some other ICS based custom rom via CWM, but no one works.
After that I tried a JB based ROM, it's worked, but it was very very very slow. When I touched the screen, the response coming after 2-3 seconds.
When I downgrade to 2.3.5 everything works fine. Why is that? Please help me! Very many thanks!!!
Deatils about my DS:

supercid 8x1

The Desire S comes with two types of display panels, Sony and Hitachi.. The majority of the devices have Sony panels and almost all custom ROMs are aimed at it. So hitachi panel owners are at a disadvantage. Most of the time the device doesn't boot. You need to check your panel. There are several posts in the development forum about it.

That's just wrong.
1. Only jb roms (and balele) have any issues with non-Sony panel support
2.if there is a problem with that, the rom will not boot, so that isnt anything to do with this thread
Thanks guys for your replies. Yes, I read out a thread, about the LCD panels, and there is no posts about conflicts with ICS.
So what should i do, what do you think about it?
Do you have any advice to me?
Thanks a lot!
UPDATE: I tried some different ICS based custom ROM, but no one works. Today, I tried the Virtuous Quattro ROM, and it works. Can you tell me, what's the difference between this ROM, and the others? Thanks a lot!
Can u try installing 4ext recovery and full wipe , and flash fallout evolution rom (most stable ics )? Cwm gave me problems like that

Definitely 4ext is far better than CWM. Never misses a shot since I have first installed

you can install a RUU. A RUU will make your phone stock again. look for your correct RUU by checking your CID
Code:
fastboot getvar cid
and look for the corresponding RUU. check anyting related to RUU's here. Read it all carefully so you don't make any mistakes. Make sure you know what you're doing before doing it

1. you can always flash a ARHD custom ROM. It's appearance is identical to stock and you're much better of if you consider the effort. check the ARHD thread by mike1986 for details, downloads and how-to's
2. if you can't find a specific RUU for your device then find one that matches your FW and radio version. use the extracted ROM flash method from the RUU-link I posted to flash the ROM. this method is considerebly more effort and risk for failure. so when u choose to do this, read everything carefully and know what you're doing before doing it
I suggest going for opt 1
