look here you can find many official RUU for desire.
I don't know if it's posible to downgrade oficial ROM
If Desire were mine, I root it first, and after, do what I need. Rooted smartphones are always better to modify.
Like Hanisa said, look there. It would have helped if you knew your exact build version before.
Every Official HTC Desire RUU ROM has it's own build version and baseband (radio) version.
Go to settings>about phone>software then look for your baseband version (Radio version) (it may have not changed - for example: the original radio from my HTC Desire is linked only to my original RUU ROM). Use that information to find your RUU file, like Hanisa said, here (search using find on page)
Your baseband (radio) version should look something like this: 32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11
If you find you original RUU ROM, keep it on your computer. In case of anything you can just install it and you will have your stock ROM again.
Thank you guys for the quick answer,
Before I start to downgrade my Desire from 2.3 to 2.2, I wondering to give a last chance to Gingerbread and tray to root my Desire... So my question is... is it has possible way to root Desire 2.3 (Gingerbread)?
Yes i think so. But if you root your HTC Desire you will want to try different ROMs, there are many HTC Sense ROMs that are cleaner and faster than your stock ROM. Here is a step by step video tutorial on how to root your HTC Desire.
You won't regret rooting your HTC Desire, just make sure to make a Nandroid Backup (like the videos will show you), and also i suggest you make a Rom Manager backup - you can find the app on Android Market - (it's like Nandroid Backup) only you can move the backed-up files to your computer (this is good if something happens to your SD card and you have to format it for example).

Thank you I3xander,
But i Think that video tutorial is not going to work on my Desire, because of this ***This method only works for users with hboot 0.93 and lower. Sorry 1.06 users, but until unrevoked updates, your stuck on stock htc***
My Desire hboot is 1.02.
If you know some other way how to root Desire 2.3 Official rom please tell me.
Again Thank you for the advice.
I am sorry, if I will find more information about rooting your device with hboot 1.02 I will tell you. The only thing you could try, I think, is Revolutionary. It's in developer preview, but it may work, if you have time read and see if it can help you.
And I have no idea if you tried to install an original stock RUU ROM (2.2 Froyo) like Hanisa told you, it may (i am not sure) change your hboot. (Search here using baseband version (Radio version) to find your stock RUU ROM.
If it works you should be able to root your device with no issues.
My baseband is this:32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23 when I tried to downgrade it said - please use correction version (bootloader fail 140) - cant find the correct one .. can anybody help

I flashed the bravo_downgrade.img and did the RuU afterwards, but i still get the Main Version Fail Error!
Now I tried it by Doing revolutionary and applying the PB99IMG.zip afterwards.
Now I get Bootloader...Bypassed
And the Radio_V2 Pu Fail
A while back I flashed a rom onto my HTC sensation.
Current Specs:
Android Version- 2.3.4
HTC Sense Version- 3.0
Software Number- Pyramid3Dv8.21 xe
Yet, With all these new releases and roms, I have no idea where to start :/
Currently scared to do anything since I'm afraid to brick my phone.
I'm sorry if this has or been answered somewhere else.
But, Could someone lead me into the right path to upgrading to the new Firmware + what I need to install for the new 3.0.0+ roms?
I will really appreciate it.
Thank you for reading this.
First you require some basic one time steps that you need to do
This is the guide to do those
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
Follow the steps carefully.... Also you can do soff if your hboot is <= 1.18 hboot

thanks for shinz.& mike for there awesome work
I understand about the new stuff in a way
But, What do I do since i'm not updated yet?
Install stock firmware and update regularly then redo the Process?
or is there someway I can Just update without having to redo S-OFF
I believe you can simply flash the 3.32 firmware and then update to the new ICS ROMs. No need to S-OFF again since you're running the older hboot version (that is, I'm assuming you're still running hboot 1.18 or lower since you haven't updated your phone in a while and you're already rooted and stuff).
The second link that ganeshp posted should be all you need to know.

Hi,
It is not clear if you are s-off or not.
Once you are s-off,that will remain no matter what you do(unless you choose to s-on again )
If you are s-off,and you want to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich(ICS) then, everything that you need is in THIS THREAD.
Read it carefully, then read it again!
If you still have questions, ask in that thread or here.
Good luck.

first of all check your HBOOT version (from bootloader -> volume down + power)
if its 1.18 or less(this is only required for SOFF ...if you are already SOFF follow the rest of steps from the guide)...then just use my guide(1st link) for basic steps to keep your phone ready...for flashing custom roms
then for ICS you first need to update your firmware...which was awesomely explained on how to do it from the second guide link I've provided....
remember once you've updated you firmware you can not boot into your OLD GB rom as it is not compatible so you need to get the ICS ROM you want to install on your sdcard before doing firmware update so that you can just flash the ROM directly after updating the firmware
that's all you require...(my best suggestion is READ READ READ...until you are crystal clear)
Which stock Sensation XE rom has the least amount of bloatware?
The question pretty much sums it up. I just got a Sensation XE, Hong Kong model. It has a lot of crap software on it: youni sms, xda assistant, 通通电话,baidu, kuwo player, and all this other Chinese crap. I hate Chinese software with passion. If skynet was/is real, I believe it would be running a Chinese OS. Chinese software naturally tries to take over your computer or phone.
I want to switch to the stock rom with the least amount of junk on it. If it also has a good Chinese/English keyboard with handwriting input that is a plus.
Also, just to make sure I'm on the right track, this is what should be done before I can change roms, right?
1) Get S-off
2) Install Clockwork Mod
3) Get permanent root
4) Write super cid
5) Change Stock Rom

the steps are fine ..but 3rd step is not required ...and 2)better have 4EXT recovery ..its better imho and between 4 and 5 there might be one more step ..which can only be decided after you told the current rom you are having (if running gb now ..for ICS you need to flash 3.32/3.33 firmware ..then ROM)
as for the ROM ..for simple STOCK like and fully customized with bloat removed ..try ARHD, insert coin or Elegancia
Hi,
If you go through the steps you mentioned:
1) Get S-off
2) Install Clockwork Mod (Try to get a PG58IMG.zip version of it, saves having to fastboot flash it)
3) Get permanent root
4) Write super cid
5) Change Stock Rom
You could stop at step3 and manuall delete stuff off the ROM you have. OR, what I'd probably do), and as mentioned you can skip step 3 if you're installing a new ROM. Go for a WWE (World Wide English) RUU if you want to keep completely Stock, you can then run ROMcleaner to remove some redundant crap.
Look for something like: RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.5_Radio_11.69. 3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M_release_246089_signed.exe
It's ICS with Sense 3.6. The 401 in the above means it's WWE and will either need SuperCID (11111111) or HTC__001, it's completely unbranded.
You can find ROMcleaner at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217664
Thanks for the replies. I know I can root and then uninstall system apps. I don't really like doing that because you just don't know what else has been done to the rom. This Hong Kong rom won't let me use stock SMS (I know how to select default SMS program, it doesn't work on this rom) and doesn't have stock browser (it has some chinese version of Opera), is asking me if I want to invite my contacts to join all kinds of stupid networks, gets involved with my text messages, has some Chinese antivirus that keeps complaining, and all kinds of other crap. It's the worst rom I've ever seen. The WWE appears to be what I'm looking for. It's unbranded and shouldn't have carrier or region specific stuff. Youtube and other apps that don't ask me questions I can deal with.
I want root, for all of it's obvious benefits. I usually run stock, rooted and custom kernal with GPU overclock. But I'm not so sure I like sense, but I want to try a cleaner rom before I decide on sense.
I'm guessing I don't need to do the OTA update before I start the process. I also saw there were some special procedures for the latest ICS. I'll deal with that bridge when I get there. For now I just need a clean rom that doesn't bombard me with useless Chinese crap.

There are a few WWE GB ROMs out there, the one I mentioned is pretty slick as it's ICS which seems to work better IMHO.
The following is mentioned in post 1776 and there abouts in the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Pyramid
The OP has filefactory as the repository but it never worked for me so I gave up on it, looks like others had the same issue.
Just get a Europe one xxx.401.xxx. Avoid 1.24 if you want to go through OTA updates, I had issues with that, might have been me but .....
The ROMcleaner thing I mentioned is pretty good at removing the HTC extra stuff.
Of course, there are a few very nice custom ROMs out there. I was using Virtuous Inquisition (AOSP look and feel based on Sense but de-sensed as much as possible). I've not tried ARHD/IC and some of the others for a long time so can't comment on them.
Have fun and GL on your quest.
EDIT:
P.S. after applying the RUU you'll need to re-install CWM (again easiest was is if you have a PG58IMG.zip version of it) and then apply the root. It looks like the best root at the moment is SuperSU (reading some posts here from EddyOS).
Thanks again. I'm downloading:
RUU_PYRAMID_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.105_R2_Radio_11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M_release_253443_signed.exe
Now that I look again the 3.33 version is available, I probably should have downloaded that.
I've already got: ADB drivers, HTC Sync, HTC driver, java, pg58img(recovery.img), CMW 5.0.2.0, revolutionary-0.4pre4, su-2.3.63-efgh, and the unbrick stuff in case something goes wrong. Once I finished downloading the firmware I should be ready to go. I'll double check that all the files are good, re-read all the instructional threads, and then get started. My phone doesn't have a warranty, so I have to make sure everything is done correctly the first time.
I also found this:

HTC phones are so much more complicated compared to the other phones I've rooted and flashed. On my Huawei phone you plugged the phone in to the computer, copied two files, and you were rooted and had CWM installed.

The 3.32 contains the 1.27.0000 HBOOT which can be unlocked (just done it myself). The 3.33 contains 1.29.0000 which at the moment cannot be unlocked.
As you're already S-OFF it probably doesn't make much difference. I'm on 3.32 at the moment, I don't know what the differences are between 3.32 & 3.33, I assume minor bug fixes.

Unless you go back to HBOOT 1.18.00 or earlier revolutionary can't help to S-OFF, as you're already S-OFF you shouldn't need it.
Does the PG58IMG.zip you mention contain CWM 5.0.2.0 ?, I usually keep a copy about called PG58IMG-CWM5020.zip, then change the name when I want to install it. The reason I ask is that PG58IMG.zip is a generic name and can be used for many things. You'll need to pop the uSD card when it asks you to reboot.

No the RUU is self contained and includes the firmware/radio. You might want to install HBOOT 1.27.0011 afterwards, IRC it allows fastboot commands. I think it's in that thread.

I know HTC seemed to have created hassles. I had an early Sensation and waiting for someone to work out how to S-OFF was a real pain.

EDIT
REMEMBER to take a nandroid backup before you start, just in case ! Also remember that nandroid backups don't include HBOOT or Radio so if you need to revert you'd need to get them. Take a note of the existing baseband/radio & HBOOT.

Good point. I'll add that to the list of steps so I don't forget.
1) Setup ADB/fastboot
2) Get S-off
3) Install Clockwork Mod
4) Backup via CWM!!!!
5) Get permanent root
6) Write super cid
7) Change Stock Rom
Unfortunately the rom didn't download correctly, so looks like I won't be installing the rom tonight.

The nandroid backup is via ClockworkMod, not certain what you're backing up through ADB/fastboot. Guess you could get Radio/Recovery etc. Never tried it myself, I like a simple life
There is no point applying SuperSU until after you have installed the new Stock ROM. You can change the CID directly with fastboot, it doesn't need root for that.
Shame about the download, at least the steps look about right.
Eek, I thought you already had S-OFF ? What HBOOT are you on at the moment ? If it's 1.18.0000 or earlier revolutionary.io is perfect, if it's later it's a different process.
Note that when you install the new stock rom via RUUxxxx.exe, it'll splat the custom recovery so it'll need to be re-applied.
Umm, I booted into HBOOT to get my HBOOT version and at the top of the screen it says:
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT 1.17.008
RADIO-10.11.9007.15_M
That mean I already had S-OFF, right? Well that was easy.
Actually the phone was smuggled into China to avoid taxes. The sellers probably had to get S-OFF to put a Chinese language rom on there. Which also would explain all the extra bloatware, probably was installed by the same people.
Also, I wasn't able to pull the images through ADB. Have to wait until after rooted.
UPDATE: Installed CWM, backing up now, then root. So far so good. I'll probably have to settle for using Titanium Backup to remove the unwanted apps for now. The second try at downloading the RUU also failed.
UPDATE: Rooted, through it probably was already rooted. Also checked the CID and it was already 11111111. Thanks Chinese smugglers. You did all the work for me. Now to finish uninstalling all the crap you put on my phone.
So actually, the only work I did was install the SU and backup my system.
Nice to see it going smoothly for you, and remember if you want to install ics, you need to flash a ics firmware 3.32 or 3.33. Or you'll be in a boot loop.

As you say that was easy.
There are other sites that you can download 3.32.401 from as it's fairly common, have a look.
As you have a nandroid backup that you can recover back to if needed you can also try ROMcleaner.
I'm going to try a Jelly Bean ROM tomorrow so my nandroid backup will be vital )
A really nice fairly lightweight ROM is Virtuous Inquisition. As I said it's AOSP look and feel but has Sense backend, it's been de-sensed as much as possible.
Anyway Have Fun.

The RUU will contain everything you need and update firmware, Radio, Recovery, HBOOT, ..... and of course the ROM.
Remember it'll flatten the ROM so all saved messages, WiFi details etc. will be lost.
If for some reason you need to revert back to your existing ROM you'll need to downgrade the firmware to 1.17.0008, including the radio. I doubt you'll bother though when you're on 3.32.

If it's that urgent you should spend time familiarize yourself with the search button. There is Asskicker's guide how to flash roms with s-on in the general forum. Plus I gave you a link to RUU's in the other thread you posted in.

Hi
I dont understand what u saied??
What can I do?
I rooted my HTC Desire S after downgrading it's HBOOT from 2.00 to 1.47 something. I was not satisfied by using customised ROMs with lots of bugs so I flashed stock ROM HTC Saga Asia India and then updated it by mistake or you can say foolishly. Now my phone is not booting and it is stopped on logo screen. I tried to use recovery but it just wiped data and and reboots when I select Install Zip from sd card.
Any fix for this? I have to go to HTC care center or it can be sorted out at home? Thanks in advance.
hi,
i thing you have been flashed wrong RUU, or your procedure is wrong,
have you know your phone's cid
post here your phone's cid, anyone suggest you which ruu file you have to flash.
If you could explain properly and in proper readable font, what steps exactly did you perform to reach this phone state - people would help. As it is, my eyes hurt from looking at your post, I only see huge letters and can't read anything out of them.
it's same case with me..
and now i need some help too

I suggest you read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...[GUIDE] How to be a New User (and not a noob)
I know you've been told to stop tagging your problems on the bottom of others, if I've noticed your posts then I'm sure a mod has.
Hello there
I received a new HTC Sensation as a gift, It was bought from Ebay. It came with Stock 2.3. I would like some help on how to root, install CWM/4EXT and install Sultanxda's CM11 ROM. I also like Viper Rom but we all know Kitkat is in a lot of ways better than JB. I have already read the guides in the Forums, but that didn't help me much. This is my first Android phone but not necessarily the first phone I flash a Custom Rom to. I have some experience with LG and Samsung phones, but those are easier. In few words, could someone please answer this questions?
1) Do I need to update to ICS to install CM11? Also, how do I install CWM/4EXT and Root the phone?
2) Do I lose my network connectivity? I mean, do I have to backup something like IMEI data or EFS Folder? I don't live in the US (sorry for my bad english) and the phone is unlocked, dunno if that matters.
3) This may sound silly and stupid, but can I live without Gapps? I don't really need them, I can just install another market. Gapps use too much resources and the only Google Apps that I MAY use are Youtube and Chrome Browser. Also, I need to sync contacts but I already exported as Vcard file. I do not need Google Play or the other Google Apps.
Thanks for your help and advice

To flash another rom you need to be s-off or to unlock your bootloader. I don't know exactly if you need to update to ICS, but I don't think so, it should be enough to update your firmware (as far as I know that's necessary). For kitkat roms you should use 4EXT.
You don't loose anything, but you can make a backup of your stock rom as it is with 4ext and save it to your computer.
Yes, you can live without gapps. You don't want them, don't flash them.
To install a custom rom you need to do the following:
Get root access - go to htcdev.com select Sensation they will tell you what to do next
Install Custom Recovery - find an CWM TWRP or 4EXT image for Sensation here on XDA and flash it using fastboot
Get S-OFF - go to http://unlimited.io/juopunutbear.htm they will also guide you trough the process ( the most fun ive had unlocking, its like a game)
Then you are ready to flash custom roms. As for CM11 our device isnt supported officially though there are great CM11 based roms for our device.
Installing rom is easy dont worry when you are done unlocking the phone i can explain that also. If you have any further questions regarding any of the above procedures ill try to help. Cheers

S-OFF is kinda usefull, but not necessary.
I would suggest -
revolutionary to s-off (easiest way)
flash the 3.32 or 3.33 firmware (needed for latest roms)
flash 4ext recovery (latest is 1.0.0.6) i can post it if u cant find it in link below.
Then ul have full control of ur phone and u can flash any rom in recovery. Link below has all u need.

there's a guide somewheres, you don't have to s-off. I'm not even sure what the benefit of s-off is.

Yes u dont need to s-off but it has many benefits (google to find out for urself) but the main reason i suggest it too some users is because normally the people that ask how to do this and how to do that r usually the people that panic when something goes wrong then they automatically think they need to run a ruu then the ruu fails then they ask questions later when they stuck. So for me to suggest s-off is for one reason only, supercid.. then when they get stuck they can run any ruu and not worry. Anyway to s-off using revolutionary is faster than unlocking ur bootloader via htcdev, so why not? And ul have FULL control of ur phone.

Revolutionary is an easier method than juopunutbear but the later editions of HTC Sensations (XE) are not supported. Mine came with HBoot 1.27 i think and maximum for the revolutionary is 1.18 (http://revolutionary.io/).

New or second hand/used? Sensations came with stock android 2.3.x including the xe, with the option to upgrade to ICS. i have the XE and normal senny. the op of this thread says he has a sensation stock 2.3.x so he should be ok for revolutionary.

Strange coz the ics upgrade was more a test than anything. Was there for users to install if they wanted it.

Agreed on waiting...
Yea at some point in 2012 HTC stopped shipping Senny with Beats headphones (which i didnt care for anyway), then started shipping with stock ICS (http://www.phonearena.com/news/Whit...March-to-ship-with-Ice-Cream-Sandwich_id26512).

Cool, did not know that. Strange that they shipped it with ICS coz it was not very good, had bugs and alot of users had wifi issues. The ICS sense 3.6 roms here on xda r good but htc"s update wasnt.
