Hi there, after a couple of days with the phone I'm amazed. It's great, except for the camera I guess - my arc s used to make much sharper and cleaner pics, but I'll deal with it.
So to the question - is there a way to make it wake the screen with the volume buttons, because, even with my long fingers I have to do it usually with 2 hands, and the power button itself, doesn't seem to me very reliable, and can get stuck pressed like on the SGS3. And if it's possible - on unrooted, stock ROM, stock locker.
And some offtopic - the one s forum seems to me very unpopulated, regarding the arc forum. Is it because of the coming holidays, or the phone isn't that popular?

I don't think so...
At least I don't know such a solution.
With custom stuff, yes, but on stock?

Thanks, so I'll wait for the JB update and then re-unlock and root and search for a solution

I have a stock Sensation 4G(T-Mo) and I was wondering when the bootloader gets unlocked and custom ROMs are made, would using one speed up/save battery life on my phone? Also would it take away Sense entirely(I'm fine with it, but i like the widgets and the weather effects, drop menu with the settings). Also can I still use WiFi caling? Thanks

There are going to be several custom roms released once we get s-off. Some of them with sense and some without. You can choose whatever suits you and if you don't like it you can just change it. That's the magic of XDA..
Thanks, that's what I thought but wasn't 100% sure on.
Guys, I know this phone is far from being a good one like Galaxy S, for instance, so I'm kind of guessing the answer here will be no, but...
Will I be able to install ICS on this phone? Like get the source, compile and install over the Froyo I currently have? Can I already do it?
Or this phone won't be good enough to run it? Or maybe it won't work as well because of its functionality (e.g. I already have physical buttons for home, going back, etc; would I be able to toggle off the virtual buttons for these on the screen?)

They may be starting it here soon

The phone is capable enough for running ICS. The port will begin shortly at madteam.co/forum
if it is stable enough it would be great. I have read that even gb is not perfectly stable..
Almost every phone can (my old htc hero have a port and its 2 years old) the thing is to have someone with your phone...even you that have the guts to try to make it possible and stable but official i doubt it jejeje

Hi there,
I just got my new HTC Sensation, and I'm coming from my old HD2. I'm finding it fairly easy to get to grips with, but just want some advice on what people would recommend doing to get the most out of my phone. I will install a new ICS rom sometime soon, but in the meantime, what can others suggest?
Also, I did pick up something - I tried turning on delivery reports for text messages, but they keep turning off. Is it something I'm doing wrong?
Thanks,
David
After you root I would use coindroid sense 4 rom it had allot of support and I'd very stable but Bluetooth doesn't work all the way I'd that is important to you and I would use rom toolbox with every rom you can change fonts change CPU speed it had root explorer and a bunch more features

Hi David,
HD2 was a really nice phone, but the Sensations is better.
Before starting with the hacking I would suggest give it a go with the stock ROM. Check for update of the firmware, while you are at it. ICS upgrade is widely available now, so your phone could be next.
After you have used the phone for some time, then have a look at the wide variety of custom ROMs available at xda. Read the instructions carefully and good luck flashing.

I was a coindroid user, but a few days ago I switched to aokp official.
is faster, lighter, almost all working (see cm9 bugs) and...well, is aosp looking!
I'm coming from a leo, too, here you will find lot of great roms, just flash
I suggest you to try official aokp, sense 4 and last version of arhd...
these are the best roms (I don't like cm9, try that too if you want)

Hi,
What is your hboot number?
Go to settings/power,and untick fastboot.
Power the phone off.
Power on holding volume down + power button.
You will see your hboot number.
If it is still below 1.27,then
DO NOT USE OTA(OVER THE AIR) UPDATE
Once you do this ,you will no longer be able to s-off your phone(using revolutionary)
This will then cause you no end of problems later, when you go to update to ICS...
Hey guys,
I have tried several custom ROM's in the last 2 weeks since getting my HTC One X and one of them, I think Xi40 126 had a feature that let you wake the screen using the volume buttons. This I found to be a lot more functional and easier than using the power button on the top of the phone.
I'm currently running on CleanROM 4.5 RC1. I switched from Xi40 because of battery issues I was having and CleanROM seems to be running and working better. Is there any way to get this feature now? I searched for this MOD but couldn't find it.
Thanks!
It's a feature that was part of the cordroid tweeks that xsmagical had ported to his Rom he and Scott are both working together to get them ported to the new base so in time you should have that feature again. I have never found an app that does it as a stand alone.
Sent from my Nocturnalized Beast
The only app I've seen that replicates that mod is 'No-Lock' on the market, but it just bypasses the lockscreen, doesn't really wake the phone with volume. But, like the post above, we'll see the mod soon enough
Hello everyone,
I just got my TF300T last night and it is a great tablet. Before I do anything (upgrade to Jellybean, etc) I am wondering why it seems there isn't much development for the tablet. I have had a couple android tablets and phones, and have rooted all of them for custom ROMs and such, but it almost seems like that's not really done a whole lot here. I just read one thread where the stock ROM was preferred by a good deal over any other ROM. Is there any reason for this? Any particular reasons I should still root, other than installing custom ROMs and kernels?
Thanks for your input.

Rooting is not required to install a rom, most non stock roms are rooted when you install ( they require you to unlock and void warranty ). If you wish to stay stock and don't see a need for root then don't do it.
If I could begin again I would stay on ICS for a time longer. I think good things for this unit are around the next corner.
Devs are working hard to make this happen. The JB bootloader has caused problems with most roms we are accustomed to. Once on JB you can't go back to ICS ( at this time ).
Good Luck!
Thank you for the response. How would I load TWRP onto the tablet then? I know people are suggesting not to unlock the tablet's bootloader unless I have to, so I'd prefer not to.
I figure if I go to JB, I'd load something like CleanROM as people seem to be quite happy with it.
Any additional information is greatly appreciated.
You need to unlock your tablet if u want to install a Rom and recovery
Oh ok. Gotcha. So then I think I know which guide I have to use. Thank you for your help and clarification.
OK, unlocked and such. Loaded CleanROM. Running well so far, but now I have to research ROMs to see which reigns supreme.
Cleanrom is the best for with unt's kernel

Since you are now on the JB bootloader here is a thread to watch as there will be a new rom coming, don't hold your breath. The reason for the breath statement is this is a big undertaking. It will allow numerous other roms you don't now see in the dev section. Everything now available on JB is based on the stock kernel, this should overcome that limitation.
AOSP, AOKP, Paranoid Android, and so on

For me personally, I prefer using a stock-based ROM over the AOSP based ROM for day to day use. The reason is really simple, and that is the keyboard dock works much better on the stock based ROM. In CM10, for example, the lock/unlock button on the keyboard doesn't work. Also, closing the tablet and the keyboard does not result in the screen turning off automatically (you have to manually press the power button whenever you want to close the tab-dock). If you forget to do this, the battery takes a hit. As well, the mouse cursor in AOSP ROM is not exactly a "cursor", more like a giant circle (it's the default touch indicator in android). I use the keyboard dock a lot for drafting my college assignments, so stock-based Roms are perfect for me.

I've noticed the same thing with the closing the tab-dock issue. When I turn off my screen and close it, the screen turns back on right before the tab touches the dock to close, so I have to turn it off again right before closing it to prevent random stuff from opening up/battery draining.
Other than that, I've had great fun playing with the various ROMs. I ran CM9 for the longest time but I switched recently to the Blackbean ROM. Its based on CM9 so it has all the features I like, but its all black/inverted so its better for battery and a lot easier to read in bed at night.
CleanROM is good, so is HydroROM, but I've found that I really enjoy the speed and efficiency of some of these other custom ROMS.
