Turn on display using volume buttons - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hey guys,
I have tried several custom ROM's in the last 2 weeks since getting my HTC One X and one of them, I think Xi40 126 had a feature that let you wake the screen using the volume buttons. This I found to be a lot more functional and easier than using the power button on the top of the phone.
I'm currently running on CleanROM 4.5 RC1. I switched from Xi40 because of battery issues I was having and CleanROM seems to be running and working better. Is there any way to get this feature now? I searched for this MOD but couldn't find it.
Thanks!

It's a feature that was part of the cordroid tweeks that xsmagical had ported to his Rom he and Scott are both working together to get them ported to the new base so in time you should have that feature again. I have never found an app that does it as a stand alone.

The only app I've seen that replicates that mod is 'No-Lock' on the market, but it just bypasses the lockscreen, doesn't really wake the phone with volume. But, like the post above, we'll see the mod soon enough

CoreDroid Q&A

As some of you have come from the captivate know what I did there with Rom Q&A threads. I am doing the same here. In an effort to clean up the site. All Rom related question shall from now on be posted in the proper Q&A or will be deleted on sight.

I downloaded CoreDroid HD 7.1 (Sense 3.0) for Inspire from their site. It uses Hotfile to host the file, so when I tried to download both versions (Sense 2.1 & Sense 3.0) I had to wait until the first was done, Then I was told I reached my download limit from Hotfile, and had to wait 30 minutes, or create a premium account. I hope I like Sense 3.0.
That was the only issue I had.
Holy crap! 7.6 is FAST and the screen animations are awesome. Only five minutes in and diggin this huge.

Will the Circle Battery Meter v7.5 work with 7.6?
I'm guessing it will, but want to be sure so I don't jack anything up.
EDIT: It works, figured the battery version number didn't have to do with the ROM version.
Is there a way to change the branding from Desire to Inspire? I tried the Ispiredmod but it doesn't seem to work
After installing the rom and then rebooting the phone is it normal for it have sit on the HTC screen for 10+ minutes? Hopefully someone can answer soon.
Nop, the normal in first boot is one minute or two. Maybe you need to do a wipe first.
Thankfully all I did was pull the battery and startup the phone and everything ran just fine after that. I didn't have to worry about reflashing anything. Thanks though.
Are there other themes for this rom out there other than the stock theme that comes with it?
Long time lurker here:
I've been using Coredroid v7.6 for the past 2 days and I've had nothing but positive thoughts about it. Super fast, sleek, very stable. Maybe it is just me, but I also think the GPS locks on to my phone much faster under the new software- compared to the stock Inspire ROM. The battery life is also extended, although by how much, I still can't say.
3 things that I noticed however, and maybe you guys can set me right:
1). The green notification light that blinks when your phone is in stand-by and you receive an email, text, or google talk message... I noticed that it doesn't always blink when I get a notification. It seems to work if the phone has just recently been put in stand-by, but if the phone has been sitting there for a couple of hours, and then a notification comes in, the green blink doesn't appear.
2). Speaker hiss. Whenever I'm done with music, a video, or anything that uses the speakers, I can hear a slightly hiss from the speakers that lasts for 1-2 seconds and the "pops" when the hiss breaks off. I believe this was present in the stock ROM as well, but I guess with the speaker volume increase, its more present?
3). When the phone is powered down, there is no charge animation when the phone is plugged into a charge source- all I see is an orange notification light.
Edit: With regards the issue 1; it seems like the green blink DOES work when a notification comes during stand-by... but the frequency is super low (like once a minute or something). Once you un-standby and go to the lock screen, the green blink frequency goes up to once per 4-5 seconds and maintains this frequency EVEN WHEN going back to stand by. Why was this change done?
This ROM seems to drain battery life rather than increasing it as it stated. I love the ROM but I have to have a charger at all times. It's a good thing I already have a car charger or I would be screwedshoukd I adjust the CPU speeds on idle?.

Give me some tips. I can't seem to justify leaving this rom, I've tried others and I dislike them.
I was wondering how to change the boot animation screen. I have been searching and i haven't really found anything. Most things that i did find was specific to a certain rom, so any help would be very much appreciated.

There's a thread for boot animations in the themes & apps section.

So I went from Coredroid 7.6, and switched to Coredroid 7.1 and added a few mods to it, I put the circle battery mod on, the transparent system ui mod, and transparent rosie mod. I was absolutely loving it at that point, however once my battery reaches 30% or so my phone shuts off over and over again. I'm not sure why this is. Should I have cleaned the battery stats before flashing this mod? There were no problems with 7.6, and when checking my voltages on 7.1 everything was as it should have been at 100%, but I have the issue where the phone shuts down at 30% battery. Is this a known issue?
Edit: I charged the phone up a little bit and problem started appearing with a bit more consistency, flashed back to the 7.6 rom. Oh well, I guess it was fun while it lasted on 7.1
What's the difference between the lordmod kernel that is included in Coredroid v8 and LorDModUE V6.9.2 BFSv404?
Theming question
I have somewhat of a more advanced theming question. Dunno if this is the correct thread to post this question in but, I am making a theme for Coredroid 7.0 and I dont kno how to chainge the sense 3.0 weather backround. Can someone tell me what file I would have to edit and where it is located at? heres an example
Perma-fast boot on CD v8.0 - new Mods page?
Lovin' the Sense 3 w/ the cool widgets and 3D widgets, but noticed that even w/ FastBoot disabled, there is no way to shut CoreDroid v8.0 off! Am i missing something? Did a full-wipe coming from v7.1, which i thought was pretty good ...
Next Q is around theming and UI mods (i like the transparent UI). Where are these to be found, as the OP points to v7.6 and sooner revs - pls advise.
Keep up the great work! thx for your response!
EDIT: pwr dwn options DO exist. sorry for the hasty post! still am curious as to where the new UI mods will come, though.

[Q] MIUI ROMS slow to wake up/unlock?

Hey guys,
After trying every ROM I could lay my hands on (Endy and Reaper being the best, of course ) I've been trying out MIUI.
I really like it - even the launcher! However, it takes forever to wake up and go to sleep. When I hit the power button, the screen starts lighting up in very awkward stages of brightness - not smooth at all. This takes around a minute before you can even think about trying to unlock, and the unlock bar never slides down smoothly, if at all. You just get a vibration and the homescreen pops up.
Have tried doing the "perfect installation" as in the guide, as well as turning all animations off - nada.
Such a shame because I've got the ROM set up exactly how I'd like! Any advice/previous experience?
Running the latest Galnet Weekly build. Thanks for any help!
The issue may be in the galnet rom. Try MIUI.us release. It's the best. (for gb)
Ics miui is out too, check proxuser's thread.

Hmm, thought that might be the case. Wondering if you know - if I backup using the MIUI backup on the Galnet ROM, then flash a different MIUI, can I restore everything? Or should I use Titanium?
Will try a new one later, ICS sounds tempting!
Thanks a lot
Miui backup should work. Buy i always use titanium xD
Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
Just flashed the Miui.us version and it is a bit better. Still getting lag but so far seems a bit more bearable. I'll see how it goes, perhaps fiddle with brightness a bit too.
Thanks again!
Edit: Was still laggy so flashed the Reaper kernel. No problems at all now. lowveld can do no wrong!

Nexus S, ICS, and capacitive button light notification

One of the things that turned me off and kept me on cm7 was the lack of of capacitive button notification lighting in ICS. Is there a way that this has been resolved on stock without using another CM rom? I am really hesitant to go back to an alpha build because it took me so long to get full functionality from the rom and the phone and work exactly how I wanted it.
Thanks.
Alpha lol!! Flash a kernel with bln....
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
CM7 isn't ICS, that's CM9. Also it hasn't been an alpha for at least 2 months, it's in RC1 which is as stable as you're going to get.
Use Airkernel or Martrix Kernel to enable BLN.(You can use NSTOOLS to adjust the settings).
Reread what I wrote. One of the things that turned me off of ICS and kept me on CM7 (I know it's GB) is the lack of notification lit capacitive buttons. I basically want to upgrade to ICS or later (really JB once there is a more functional release) but those lit capacitive buttons are crucial for me as I have the att nexus s that has lcd screen and not the more effecient led screen. So a lot of those led notification apps dont help me. A couple of responses here are helpful. I'm hoping there will be a kernel with bln for stock ota jellybean when that comes out. Will that be easy to attain?
It shouldn't be hard to implement BLN for jb. There are numerous kernels with back light notifications for 4.0.4. Have you even checked the development section?

I didn't know they were called back light notifications until this post (I had kept searching "capacitive button notification light nexus s" the whole time) , so please bare with me as I'm learning. I appreciate your pointing me in the right direction. It gives me hope that when a very functional release of JB for nexus s is out I will be able to use BLN on it.
Its cool. I didn't mean to come across so harshly. My apologies. Yeah. There's a ton of kernels that support it. Just take your pick

Best Rom option advise request.

Hi! We previously owned rooted droidx phones, and still are on vanilla Verizon s3s.
I've been looking at Rom options, and figured I'd ask advise.
Here us what I'd like, ideally:
The latest jellybean leak and radio
The volume increase mod from the international s3s ( Can that even be done on the 1535?)
The cpu phone sleep mod, and the battery level cpu speed mod to maximize battery life.
Scrolling home wallpaper (Like what our old droid x phones had.)
The new camera feature with the multi picture stitch capability.
We'll also be rooting, so we can use the wireless ps3 controller app.
So all things considered, I was looking at cleanrom.... does that seem like the best choice? Is everything working in it with the latest leak?
Thanks for any advise!

CleanRom is always a good choice. I've been running Scotts Roms since HTC Rezound. Beans custom roms are also great. Both have updated to newest JB leak and have the volume increase mod. Except CR LE. It's a great rom but barebones. Both use Aroma installer and I believe they both give the option for the scrollable wallpaper. As far as the camera, the 4.2 camera is flashable from recovery. Sorry idont have a link. Hope this helps.

[Q] (Q) cm10 lockscreen touch not responsive

Hello,
I hope this is in the right area, xda / android newb (switched from iPhone within the past three months WOOHOO :good but here goes...
I have the HTC One X (at&t) and I'm running CM10 nightly 20121216 with rohan kernel b6. Every once in a while I when I unlock my phone the touchscreen is completely unresponsive, meaning the lock slider does not work whatsoever nor does the notification center pulldown. I did my best to research this issue and I'm not sure how to replicate it or if its even relevant to CM10. As in is it just my phone, or is it rom / kernel combo that causes this? The only way to resolve this issue is to power down the phone using vol down + power as the power menu is unresponsive as well. If anyone has any insight and would like to provide a solution OR if this is a completely new bug I would be happy to provide more information.
Oh, and a big shout out to Richard V. for figuring out LED for notifications :good:
I'm pretty sure this is probably a bug with Sweep2Wake, enabled by rohan's kernel that you have installed. Try reflashing CM10 without any custom kernel and then see if you have the problem.
Under volting has cause that for me several times on cm. Its the death sleep. I stopped using kernel mods altogether because of stability about a month ago. So not sure if that's what is still happening for you. But perhaps give it a shot
Sent from my One X using xda premium
Thanks guys I'll be sure to try that out. I somewhat had a feeling it might have something to do with the kernel.
