[Q] Help with Rooting - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I am currently trying to root my S3 using the instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709 I got to section 2 where i saw the following instructions. I followed them to the 2 but then at step 6 instead of installing the zip i hit reboot. Now the phone is stuck at the page where it says Samsung Galaxy SIII. This page shows up as soon as I plug the battery in. Did I brick my phone?
Step 2: Download and install the EZ recovery App from HERE (If your coming from section 1 and already have a custom recovery, reboot recovery and skip to step 4).
Step 3: Open app, select CWM recovery, tap the pulldown menu, choose CWM 6.0.1, select flash, then reboot recovery.
Step 4: Perform a Nadroid Backup from the "back up/restore" menu(optional but recomended)!
Step 5: Wipe Data/Factory reset, then under the "mounts & storage" menu Format System.
Step 6: Navigate to "install zip from sdcard", then from there "choose zip from sdcard", and finally install the rom you downloaded in step 1.
Step 7: Reboot.

Power off the phone than try holding power+volume up+home button to re-enter into recovery. Once you are in recovery (as long as it is the CWM recovery) continue from where you left off.

Got stuck. Confused

Full ROM Installation Instructions From Stock:
I'm currently trying to get Infused 1.5 on my Infuse.
1) First get root and install modded 3e recovery.
-done
2) Install ROM Manager from the Market and launch it.
-done
3) Select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and choose "Galaxy S i9000".
-done (I clicked it and nothing happened)
here it is becoming very confusing.
do i donwnload ROM first from the ROM Manager download section (if yes where does it store it)
4) If you've booted into CWM recovery since installing it, skip to step 5. If not, select "Reboot into Recovery". When 3e recovery comes up, select reinstall packages by pressing the power button. You will have to select it twice and then CWM recovery will come up. Select "reboot system now".
- this is too much
5) In ROM Manager, go to "Download ROM", select my section (gtg465x), select the latest release, and hit the download button.
The way i understand it is i download it first and then reboot into 'recovery mode' and from there i locate the ROM and choose flash.
6) When you get to the "Installation Type" prompt, select "Full".
7) Select your addons and follow the on screen prompts.
8) When you get to the "ROM Pre-Installation" prompt, select "Wipe Data and Cache" if you're coming from another ROM (or stock) or want a clean installation. You can uncheck "Wipe Dalvik" as it's included in "Wipe Data and Cache".
9) Press OK and hold your breath. When 3e recovery comes up, just select reinstall packages.
And another thing is how do i check whether i successfully installed 3e. I used a different file explorer, NOT the root explorer so i am a little worried, however, it let me mount as R/W and i managed to rename recovery into recovery.orig in system/bin/ as suggested. They both are in that folder now, the new recovery and the original one.
Please share your thoughts.
After you flashed clockwork mod, select "reboot into recovery" in rom manager. If it brings you to the blue(writing) recovery select "reinstall packages" you my have to do that a couple of times. After that it will bring you into green recovery(clockwork recovery). Then select reboot, after that go into rom manager download the rom you want, select full install, addons, wipe, and then it will restart the phone and start the install process. Since it has a Voodoo kernel it will take up to 15-20 minutes to boot up for the first time. Oh and after you see it saying installing rom, select reboot system then it will bring you to the samsung screen for a while(converting to ext4 voodoo).

it's not nearly as difficult or scary as you may think.. If you follow the instructions step by step, you'll have no trouble.

Doesnt matter... You havent done anything distructive yet
I prefer to have everything dowloaded and ready before starting, incase my internet connection goes down.

There is a much simpler solution to this.. From stock, simply odin flash the voodoo community kernel and let it do it's thing on bootup. Voila, your rooted, lagfixed, and have red cwm... Stick a ROM on your sd card and flash away.
You can get into red cwm from turning off the phone, holding down both volume keys, press the power button until you see the samsung logo, and continue to hold the volume keys until you see red text
One note, at this point, never use rom manager, unless you want a brick. Green cwm doesn't know how to handle the ext4 partition. Only flash from red cwm.

[Completed] Stock android ROM after installing Android Revolution HD 52.0

Hi all,
I tried to install Android Revolution HD 52.0, but it didn't work. I tried to do it according the following steps:
I rooted my samsung galaxy S3:
Step 1 – Download the above mentioned file for Galaxy S3 to your computer. (Android Revolution HD 52.0)
Step 2 – Connect and mount your Galaxy S3 USB memory on your computer using the USB cable.
Step 3 – Now copy/paste the downloaded Android_Revolution_HD-SGS3_40.0.zip file to your SD card. Make sure the file is in the SD card root (not in any folder).
Step 4 – Then turn OFF your phone and disconnect from the USB cable.
Step 5 – Now to get in the Recovery Mode. Switch ON the phone while pressing and holding Volume Up + Home + Power buttons together.
Step 6 – Then, perform a cache wipe by selecting “wipe cache partition” as you can see in the image below
Until here everything just work fine, but step 7 didn't work. I don't have an advanced option so I couldn't clear the dalvik cache.
Step 7 – Now this is optional, but it is recommended to perform a wipe of your dalvik cache as well. You will not get into boot loops or any other errors. From CWM recovery, go to ‘advanced’ and then select “wipe dalvik cache”.
The I did step 8 and 9.
Step 8 – Then go back to the main recovery screen and select “install zip from SD card"
Step 9 – Now select “choose zip from sdcard” as shown below. Using your volume keys, navigate to the Android_Revolution_HD-SGS3_40.0.zip file that you copied to your SD card and select it using the Power button. Setup will start now.
It looked like everything went OK because it said everything was installed, but there wasn't a next step anymore.
I just got back in recovery mode. So 10 and 11 aren't done.
I rebooted the device and the stock ROM was on the device.
Step 10 – AROMA Installer will start now. Choose Data Wiping Option if you’re coming from stock firmware or any other Custom ROM. (Skip this step if you’re coming from an earlier version of this Firmware). Follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 11 – After the installation completes, Reboot your phone by selecting “Reboot system now” from ClockworkMod Recovery menu as shown in the picture below. It might take a couple of minutes on first boot. So, be patient.
Can someone help me with this?
If you need more information I can provide it.
With kind regards
Harm
What recovery are you using and which version?

I see no one cared to answer the question so here I am with a full solution. This method below is there on other blogs and is the one i used.
Note: I take no responsibility if you brick your phone or something even though its an extremely simple procedure. Excluding the download time and the other stuff this process will take less than 2 minutes. Also, since you are not replacing you rom or something, all your data should remain intact, still please make a backup of all your important stuff. Lets get on with it.
Step 1: First of all download the drivers from the following link, install them on your PC and restart it.
http://www.mobistel.com/wordpress/wp-content/download/Driver.zip
Step 2: Download and extract the Karbonn titanium Rooting Kit.
http://www.4shared.com/zip/nfiO8VUWce/Titanium_S20_Rooting_kit.html
Step 3: Extract the Karbonn T S20 CWM Recovery.zip and the Sp-flashtools.zip.
Step 4: Go to the spflash tools extracted folder and open the "Flashtool.exe" as administrator.
Step 5: After it opens click on the "Load Scatter" option and select the "MTK6582_Android_scatter_emmc.txt".
Step 6: Check the box next to Recovery option among the options that comes after selecting scatter file. Click on the locations tab in the row of "recovery option" which you just selected.
Step 7: After doing the above, click on download.
Step 8: Now switch off your Karbonn Titanium S20 and connect the phone to PC via Data cable with the battery inside
Step 9: Wait till the process is finished and a green color Tick mark appears on the screen of the Sptools.
Step 10: After this remove the data cable, and press (Vol up + Power) Button simultaneously to go into the CWM recovery mode.
Step 11: In CWM recovery mode, select Mount and Storage -> Mount USB storage -> now connect the phone via data cable.
Step 12: Put the "Update-SuperSu.zip" in the Sd card (Do not extract it). Now Disconnect the phone and reboot it in CWM (recovery mode) again.
Step 13: Select the "Install Zip from sd card" -> "Choose Zip from Sd card" -> "Update-binary.zip" on the Sd card and flash it.
Step 14: Reboot. Now you have rooted your karbonn titanium s20 and also installed the CWM on your phone.
Step 15: Profit!
Do hit the thanks button if this helps ya!

[GUIDE] Upgrade P2C72 (already with a42) to Nougat ver. S233

For all those with P2C72 version that came with a42 ROM (version S048) that cannot get Nougat OTA, here's how you can manually do it:
1. Download this file. (1.91GB)
2. Rename the downloaded file to "update.zip". (The file you download is already in zip format, so if you do not have Windows set to show file extensions, just rename to "update").
3. Copy the file (update.zip) to the root of your sdcard that is already in the P2.
4. Turn off the phone. Hold "Vol Up + Vol Down + Power Button". Release the "Power Button" when the phone turns on. The recovery mode will load in about 3 to 4 seconds.
5. In the recovery mode, select "Install Update Package", then "Yes".
6. Allow the phone to restart when the update procedure ends. You're now running Nougat version S232.
7. To get the version S233, download this file. (78.3MB)
8. Repeat steps 2 to 6. (Delete or move the first update.zip to another folder)
9. Time to do a factory reset. Enter the recovery mode. Choose "Wipe User Data". First do "Fuse Wipe Data", then "Fuse Format Data", and finally "Wipe Cache", all the while selecting "Yes" when asked.
10. If you have not already "applied" to have your bootloader unlocked, you can do that now.
