Sync to Google calendar on Litening Rom v2.3 failure
Hi,
I'm am currently experiencing a similar issue. I recently rooted a Samsung Galaxy S2 (i91000) with an original kernal (XWKK2) and flashed the Litening Rom v2.3 onto the device. Everything else works fine but the syncing with google calendar. I noticed in the changelog that v2.2 had added the google calendar but I'm unsure whether the syncing aspect was added. I was originally intending to post to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274
but because I am a new member I am unable to. I'm wondering if other people are experiencing this issue?
The error message was very vague. I will include it on a follow up post. I am hoping to bump this post as I haven't been able to find a solution yet.
Many thanks for the help,
Pat
Edited text: I'm hoping to get a response first just so I know whether to install ADB - i.e. whether this is already a known issue or not.
I had this problem and solved the syncing last night. On your mobile device go into settings, applications, manage, all, then find calendar storage and clear data. Ok that and reboot. It will then resync with your online calendar.
See vmiller's post in following link.
https://groups.google.com/a/googleproductforums.com/forum/m/#!topic/android-market/wAutrBgUWM8
Calendar was syncing with my kf but not my Droid X. Did this on my Droid x and it syncs fine now.
Thanks so much!
I'll try this soon.
Looks like this will solve the issue.
I'll thanks the post when I can - did more then 8 today
Cheers,
Pat
Oh, and only need to do that once.
It solved the problem of new events created online or on kf not showing up on my Droid and it solved the problem of new events created on Droid not appearing online and on my kf.
IMHO , when i log in my google account , the calendar start sync
Hi guys,
I've tried it on the phone and it seems to work after the restart. However, if you restart the phone again (for any reason), the sync issues reoccur. I've found that if I clear the data, restart the phone and re-sync it works but it fails to sync again once the phone is restarted. I'll stick with the workaround for the moment but I hope a fix comes about.
Cheers,
Pat

I will try this and report back. Thanks
I upgraded my Nexus S from Android 2.3.1 to 4.0.3 and all was well: those I follow on Twitter turned up in the new People app. But recently I ran a factory reset to try and improve battery life and since re-installing Twitter for Android it refuses to sync my contacts.
My Twitter account has been added to the Settings > Accounts & sync screen. What I get for "Sync Contacts" is: "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly". "Sync Twitter" is working fine as is syncing with googlemail accounts.
My colleague has a Samsung Galaxy Nexus (also running Android 4.0.3) and I got him to add his Twitter account to the Settings > Accounts & sync screen. He is getting the exact same problem.
Is anyone else getting this? It's been broken for a few days now.
I'm running the AOSP oICS and it doesn't work for me either. Try to sync contacts with twitter and it just fails. NS4G.

It's a problem with Twitter. It was fine a few days ago on stock Galaxy Nexus with 4.0.1 and then it just stopped working.
Mine works, but I installed from a backup so they may be gone when it updates.
Mine also doesn't work. I submitted it as an issue to them and I recommend you guys do the same.
Submit here: https://support.twitter.com/forms/apps
same here with aopk kangy8, with a previous version it was good, it doesn't work with the last

It's a 4.0.3 or Twitter 3.0.1 error I think, not sure. Anyway I contacted them (FWIW) and I got the basic reply:
Hi,
Blabla thanks. Blabla assigned to an engineer. Blabla once fixed it will be posted on blabla
Sorry, thanks for being patient etc

Yeah I figured in the meanwhile, not app/OS version specific, lets hope they can fix it soon because my contacts are all grey and boring atm
guess what..u guys are not alone. Mine also suddenly causing me similar issue since last night.
Definitely not an ICS issue. It has to be a twitter issue, because it also stopped working on my gingerbread-running Optimus One.
do you think it's a twitter problem or is ics?
I sent a message with the link ... waiting response now ... =)
Wait & see
Same here! No ICS Issues confirmed
I can confirm the issue, in my Xoom running ICS and also in my phone running Gingerbread, both with the same message using the same account... So I think is twitter fault...
So we have to wait for an update...
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
but with the first aosp I flashed, the same version of twitter I have now, worked fine. with the update of the rom, no more sync.
Same problem here.
Was working 3 weeks ago. Since then, twitter contacts sync don't work.

I've installed ChompSMS, but when I go into Settings - Wireless & Networks - Default SMS app - only Hangouts is listed. I've tried rebooting the phone, but still nothing. Does ChompSMS need to be updated so it'll show up on this list? Is there another way to make it the default app?
Thanks!

What he said lol.
There are particular parameters that an app has to have in 4.4 for Hangouts to recognise it as an SMS app.
What the others said.
Long-winded answer:
Basically, before 4.4, there was no such thing as an "SMS app" on Android. Apps like ChompSMS didn't actually directly receive and process SMSes. They listened for SMS received events and intercepted the SMS message as it went into the default SMS app. This was an incredibly hacky method, would cause weird issues (like you'd get notifications from two SMS apps), and wasn't at all supported officially by Google.
Now in 4.4, they added the ability for apps to act as proper replacements for SMS. But they must stop using the old APIs/intents and use the new 4.4 APIs to do this. If/when the app developer does this, then you'll see it as an option.
I have the same issue you too and have been unable to find any SMS 'app' that can be set as the default.... Anyone have any success?
I've tried - Chomp, Now and Textra and none are 'selectable'!
Thanks.

This is what you need:

Works flawlessly.
I emailed the developer last week and got a reply to say a fixed version would be out this week. It's not out at the time of writing this post, but on the Google Play website someone gave it a 1 star review for not working on the Nexus 5 and one of the devs replied to say "It's fixed. Please email us with the subject line NOT FAQ." Maybe they are sending people an APK if they email them?

8sms absolutely does work, make sure you have the most updated version from the Play Store and then go to Settings>More... (under Wireless & Networks), then tap Default SMS app and change to 'Messaging', which is 8sms. Could not recommend this app higher.
I just got a reply from the developer. They are supposedly releasing a version that's compatible with the Nexus 5/Android 4.4 today. They also linked me to a beta version that works, although I haven't tested it: -

Thanks for the link! Working great on my Nexus 5 now. This is version 5.89, the version on the Play Store was released Nov 12 and is v5.88.
Chomp user here too, though when I installed the beta it didn't seem to have notifications turned on by default, so I missed a few texts. Worth checking if you install it.
Version 5.89 has been released to the Play Store, has KitKat compatibility.
Try to reply to an email and "Mail has stopped working"
Uninstall Chrome updates and you can magically reply again
Based on my mere seconds of Googling it appears a bug have been reintroduced with Android System Webview (which is now integrated into Chrome and is no longer a standalone app)
Great work Google you f***in retards
Go to Playstore. Uninstall both Gmail and Chrome browser. Reinstall both again. I hope this works.
Sigh...

Reported to HTC.
Now wait and see what happens
I've hit the same issue. Funny how it works, just when I'm traveling overseas and really need it more than usual. I'm trying to fix but not certain how to uninstall the Chrome update. Info I have basically seems to need to back out all upgrades.
Can we assume they will put out a fix for this?
Thanks for the info greatly received as my HTC U11 just packed up on emails. Did as you advised and back up and running, why do they mess with something that was working and never test it properly before releasing updates?
I have the same problem. I uninstalled Chrome updates and now HTC mail works again. However now Amazon Shopping and Underground doesn't work, requires update to System Webview which is now embedded in Chrome. So how can I revert Chrome to its previous update, since removing updates reverts it to HTC stock version?
HTC mail working well here, and Gmail too.
I don't have problems with Google Chrome! Is working well! Anyway, i don't use Chrome,. I'm using Samsung Internet Browser app with Adblock Plus for Samsung Internet Browse Safe on my HTC U11, because it's much, much faster than Chrome! My second browser is Firefox with sync Windows 10 bookmarks.
I had the same problem the other day on my u11 removed the latest chrome update. Worked fine for a day now I can't send and email or reply
I ran into the same issue. I uninstalled the Chrome update and am able to use the stock email app.
HTC reported it back to Google.
And Google likely will fix it in the next Chrome update
Android mail crashes with March 2018 Chrome release
After a week or two of not being able to reply or forward I uninstalled Chrome updates and low an behold mail worked.
Next day it stopped again so I disabled automatic updates and re-uninstalled Chrome updates and yes mail worked again.
Shame I cannot figure out what chrome version this is or even release date.
Looks like it is broken again? Cannot forward or reply to emails, but composing fresh to the same address results in a successful send. Otherwise it just errors out and says "unable to send messages"
Seriously FCUK HTC I am so tired of their bullish
HTC Official Support Position......... wait for patch and use another email client in the meantime................ FCUK this company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes these are the versions I have as well. Noticed Android Webview is still at 61.x.x.x with Chrome installed, discovered I can disable chrome and enter the Beta program to get to Webview 66.x.x.x and the problem still exists. Replied and forwarded emails fail immediately, and will not send, but composing a new email works fine. Also tried setting up the gmail app to send/receive my POP3 emails and it had the exact same problem.... Sent and replied emails showed Failed when attempting to send

This problem was fixed with the HTC Mail update
I am having serious lag with Google messages. I am on the latest beta. Anyone else experiencing this? Snapdragon s22 Ultra.
Hi, I use Google Messages, also on the beta. I've got lag on 1 set of messages which is with my wife. It takes a second or so for the previous messages to appear yet there's no issue with the Samsung Messages app (which I believe is a re-skin of Google Mesages?) I'm also on a Snapdragon S22 Ultra.

My issue is the single text all lag. Individual Text with son, daughter and wife all lag The group texts does not lag at all.
I'm having the same issue. Only on single text threads. Group threads are fine.
Anyway to fix this? Or need to wait for update on Google messages.
what version of the app are you guys on? Go into settings, apps, messages, and post the version number.
I will also confirm the latest version of the non-beta is also lagging.
the issue seems to be with the samsung version of google messages (go figure). Go into Apps, messages, click the 3 dots on the top right and select uninstall updates.
Then go to apkmirror, search for google messages. Select the latest version and when you select your download make sure to not select the one that has samsung in the name. It would be similar to this:
NO - messages.android_20220406_05_RC00.phone_samsung_dynamic
YES - messages.android_20220406_05_RC00.phone_openbeta_dynamic
I just tried the openbeta version and so far no lag, plus the annoying MESSAGES text that took up unecessary space is gone from the main screen

I am on a carrier locked phone. This is the one I am on. I did ever6u said and mine still lags. Even when I uninstalled updates it still lags.
Just as a matter of interest, I deleted the updates for the Google Messages app (not the Samsung skinned one, but still the Samsung specific one) and even though the updates have reapplied, my lag seems to have gone...
