[Q] JB AOSP Mail Client - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Any way to get the JB AOSP Mail Client working on top of touchwiz and use that instead of samsung's email? Specifically because samsung hasn't updated their email client from ICS to allow non standard ports.

Now that Yahoo has released an official email app for Android that uses push instead of polling, is it possible for the stock email app to be modified to use that?

AOSP email and exchange

I am in need of a working AOSP email app that will work with my exchange account. Here's what I got.. EVO running CM7 with the latest nightly, and my exchange server is 2007. Mow here is my problem, when I fill in the appropriate information I select SSL and accept all certificates but it will then say "the exchange server requires security features your phone does not support." And this is only with the AOSP mail client. HTC and touchdown work fine. Now my question is, does anyone know a work around to get my exchange to connect? I don't want an email apk that has removed any security features or anything like that. I have searched but all I have found are mail apks that are modded to remove the pin (which doesnt help me). I just want a stock mail apk that will work! Lol I going crazy. Not sure if I will ever find a way to get this to work but I figured I'd give one more try with you guys! Thanks!
I know this is old but I'm having the same thing happen now. Running MIUI, email was working fine the other day, then I'm guessing our Exchange Admins ran an update or made a change that caused any AOSP mail client to work. I've tried flashing to CM7 and that mail client does not work, however, the stock Samsung client does. I also made an Email.apk for MIUI and CM7 that both bypass Exchange security that I've tried and neither of those work now.
What are we missing here?
I am running MIUI 1.9.9 and I have the stock email app working fine with my work Exchange server. It eats the hell out of my battery but it is work fine.

[Q] faking imap client connection

I currently read email via imap from a government computer system. They are about to send a memo that Android devices are no longer allowed to connect with imap to these servers and will have to use a browser based email portal. Apparently Windows and Apple devices are OK, though.
My question to the general masses is this. Is it possible somewhere on my phone to set how the imap client presents itself and inject that this is, for example, an iPhone? Or would that have to be at the application level? I am currently using K9 mail and it works great.
I am running the Dark Knight ICS rom (version 3 - android 4.0.4) on a Samsung Captivate, btw.
Thanks and I hate the thought of using a browser to read emails!

Possible to use Sense email as standalone app?

Hi! I'm running an old htc dedire on a CM 7.2 rom. Works fine. But I really think the exchange email on Android 2.3 sucks. For once: no search!
(been trying som ics and jb roms which has much better mail clients but hade to revert due to other issues)
One good thing about sense is the email client.
So my question: is it possible to install just the sense email client on a custom rom?
Or is there some other free email clients that work well with exchange? Tried k9 but it didn't work with our exchange setup.
Thanks for any help w this!

[Q] Stock Browser & User Certificates

Hello,
I am using the UK P5100 version of the Tab 2, with ICS 4.0.4 install for an enterprise deployment.
We are hoping to use SSL certificates (.p12) to authenticate users to web services behind the VPN, and thought the stock browser > ICS 4.0 was meant to support.
It would appear that the Stock browser samsung have bundled doesnt handle the SSL certificate requests and allow one to be selected.
Is there any other options we have? Chrome / Firefox / Opera all seem to not support.
What about the AOSP Browser? Is there a version for the Tab 2?
