Hey guys.. So I've seen 2 kernels that claim overclock.. One is for 800MHz, and the other is for 1.3GHz(or something)...
But some people have been reffering to these as fake..
So, my question is :
1) How were these achieved(if real)??
2) How were these faked(if not real)??
Is it something like editing a 'build.prop' file to show a different version of android??
I've found some references relating to overclocking in the ICS/JB 2.xx kernel source..
So I'd like to know how the 2 already available overclocks were done/faked... :good:
take a look at this , you have to add oc clock frequencies and enable oc ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26929519&postcount=24
1.3Ghz...seriously...yeah i saw it in youtube too but if its real then he will have to buy a new phone as his cpu will be a barbecue toast soon.
besides the life of cpu also depends on binning , fabrication etc..so few cpu's can handle OC but few cannot
Yeah sure man over clocking is possible with kernel modification but there is only considerable change in our phone performance but some people made a video on YouTube like playing high HD games in their phone after over clocking but these games are running under normal CPU speed itself those videos alone fake.
Really they archived not a fake one..
But over clocking surely spoil our device because the heat sink system designed for working under that temperature only ,
over heating will spoil our devices soon.
I hope u got , why all saying it will spoil our device..
I hope the above information will help u...

use set cpu app ....and try it ur urself ...im warning u it is harmful for ur device ...
Underclock
Hai here one more information for u..
Overclock is not recommended but UnderClock will increase Ur batter life man under on deman CPU governance. Set ur CPU minimum overclock to as possible as low..

Setting the max speed to 480 will reduce Ur phones performance.Setting minimum speed at 122Hz will make u phone to run at 122Hz when ever u are not in need of that much CPU processing but i will automatically adjust the speed as Ur process need..

Ok so i was wondering if overclocking this phone is a good idea? i am probably gonna use about 8-900 mhz anywayz. I know its not the most expensive device out there but still its pretty expensive for me xD. So i was wondering if the overclocking it would effect the phone in some way.
thx

I don't feel it really speeds up the phone too much and if you compared a phone with 900 MHz processor as standard with our phone overclocked to 900 MHz processor, the standard 900 MHz processor would be a lot faster. I hope this makes sense. I didn't explain it very well.
For example, compare a HTC desire to our phone overclocked to 1 GHz. The HTC would still be a million times faster.
Anyway, a non-overclocked phone is still quite smooth and i have no problems with it. If you want to overclock, you will get a nice little boost but not a really big boost.

You should set your main profile to max of 800 as its the safest for your cpu although i overclock to 1366/1400 when im gaming . Its faster than not overclocking(for daily usage for me not sure abt other people)

No one will recommend to fix max 1.3Ghz. Cause it may over heat your phone due to it is over clock.

Better be on 1Ghz as default. And when multitasking or playing games, OVERCLOCK!! But 1.2 maxx..
And TI OMAP's are powerfull enough, can resist overclocking.
And moreover 1.2 is standart overclocking for our OMAP.

its ma opinion..use custom kernal....
on demand..
nd make a profile....when screen gets off...set cpu max to 800 min to 300..nd same while charging..saves battery
Guys, try below combination

I/O scheduler : sio

Hello,everyone....recently I overclock my desire s and thanks to many of you I received many useful information so I want to share impression how overclocking has improved performance and battery to help other like us to know what and how to use overclocking and governor....
So I start ....
I use Viper saga with tweaked kernel 3.x/ondemand with deadline/cpu min.245-max.1410
I noticed that my graphic is very good and everything works like a charm....for example in FIFA12 I noticed that even the shadow of all player are so intense and everything is so clear,it seems that improves my graphic and my phone is faster..I hope that overclocking to 1410 to not damaged my phone. So what configuration do you have ?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
Set the governor to performance. Battery eater though. But u only can choose better battery life or smoother graphics, so make up ur mind and choose one
When playing with overclocking unstick 'set on boot'. So that it goes back to normal once reboot in case of any freeze. Overclock it based on ur desired value, experiment with it, slowly. increase the value step by step. Leave it for a day then increase again. If it freezes then u know ur phone's limit.

i have read that people say it's stable up to 1.5 GHz.
I have set mine to 1.3GHz to be on the safe side.
And set it to,on demand,so it only takes up more when it needs to.
setting it up to high speeds can result in a melt down, draining batteries and will shorten out the life of your phone even when stable for a couple of days so be aware of what your doing...
there is no best value for everyone, some say 1ghz is enough, some say 1.5 ghz is not enough.
so it depends on what you need, its a trial and error thing
u will get a fast response phone but battery life is sucs ... cant complain though
LOL? :what: how many threads must u made to ask a question? answer can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2092673:D

If you want separate screen on/screen off profiles, I would recommend daemon controller app (with andrev_oc installed through the app).
If you want more profiles for different situations, setcpu is probably the only real option.
Setting to 1.3 GHz depends on the kernel you're using, not on the app.

Hi,
Playing games=more cpu=more battery=more heat.
This is quite normal.
50 degrees is not unusual.
80 degrees , and the phone should cut out before frying.
Play around with different kernels and different governors, until you find a reasonable balance.
Your phone is not a games machine.
Please allow for that.
Install ARHD 7 Rom with stock or custom kernel n it b good ya it vll heat a bit but that's natural
HIT THANKS IF I HVE HELPED YOU

i think your question shouldn't be, "how to overclock", cause apparently you have already overclocked =="
your question should be "overclocking problems"
about your problem, i prefer you to set the performance down to 1.2 again, overclocking actually harms your hardware and is usually dangerous.
If you really want to overclock your phone, with 1.3GHZ, restore back to your stock kernel, and wipe cache, flash, wipe cache again, then reboot, i think this should help

I underclock it to 800mhz and it works fine, no lags. A typical daily usage for me: texts, whatsapp, emails (3 accounts synced), Neutron music player (which is said to require 1K mhz), browsing, instagram, occasional youtube, rss feeds.
But then again, I don't play games or watch videos/movies on it. Maybe this is what's causing lags and freezes for you?

I've tried for a day when I first flashed that kernel. Decided that the increased battery drain wasn't worth it.
What about apps, how many do you have? Also, widgets? Should check on them, could be the case of too many of them constantly running in the background.

Seriously mate? It's so simple. Just set your desired frequency with the app.
And choose the governor e.g smartassv2, ondemandx, interactivd, etc. But avoid powersave and conservative since you don't want lags and choppy performance. Here's a guide to cpu governors: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017715
