Can someone please try to replicate this bug. Basically when listening to music over earphones using the stock Samsung music player, if i launch a game, the music immediately cuts off from my earphones and blasts out of the phone speaker on the back. The 2 games I've tried is Ski Safari and Subway Surf. This is quite annoying since I like to listen to music while playing a game. Instead, it blasts out of the phone speaker and I end up panicking and stopping the music on my commute. Can someone please confirm that this is not my phone specific and is a universal ROM bug? Thank you in advance.
VRBLK3 OTA
The way to fix this seems to be the plug the headphones in and out. However when you re-launch a game the bug will replicate itself.
I am running stock jb leak 3 as well and can confirm using the Samsung music player and opening ski safari with headphones plugged in, the volume did not change to the speaker.
Hope that helps out.

VRBLK1 stock ROM, Jellybean leak #3. Hopefully this will be fixed in the OTA.

I had this happen to me the other day. I am on CleanROM 5 & that has never happened before. I have been on the rom for a few weeks. Listening to the headphones & the next song in cue starts playing out of the phone speaker. I had to unplug/plug in the headset to get it working. weird.

Bumping this because the K3 OTA still has this issue. Anyone have this experience still?

I'm seeing an issue like this as well with Verizon JB OTA.
Another thing I'm noticing is that while I am listening to a podcast using Google Listen and I get a text message, the audio pauses as expected in my headphones, but when it comes back on, it does so at a really loud volume and then it ramps back down to what it was before.
I've also noticed that when listening to podcast and playing a game like Angry Birds where you can be taken to a video ad, sometimes the video ad's audio begins playing through the speaker instead of the headphones. But then, other ad's audio works as expected through the headphones. When the audio begins playing via the speaker instead of headphones, I have to unplug the headphones and plug them back in to get resumed podcast audio back into headphones.
I'm not rooted and fully stock. This was definitely not an issue with ICS so it's new.

Hi all,
ICS 4.0.3
Ver. 3.32.707.10
I was wondering if anybody else is encountering similar problems.
Ever since the ICS update, my music player, podcast player (beyondPod) and e-book audio player have gone crazy.
I cannot understand the logic behind it, but the player either stops, skips, pauses, jumps... u name it. Not all the time, but (please do not laugh!) when the car door is slammed shut.
It got me thinking. Is it the shock or the vibration? Tapping or gently bashing the phone does not disrupt the player. Only door of the car closing. It happens every morning and every night when someone gets off the car before me.
Rebooting, taking battery out, clearing out some stuff from my Micro SD... simple stuff to eliminate causes have had no success.
Only rebooting the phone can solve the problem. Force closing the app does not help.
I was thinking that after a heavy days use, maybe the RAM was running out, bu the problem starts even within 20 min of reboot, with no other unnecessary apps running.
I am using Jays headset app since my headphone has that button that allows me to stop/play skip and volume control etc. This has nothing to do with it? I have had it for a while since Gingerbread...
If it were apps from the market that was problematic, i can understand. But since this affects the stock music player as well as other audio related features, I am baffled.
Anybody else? Suggestions?
Found the definitive cause. But still have no solution.
OK guys and gals...
I had my podcast player and stock sense music player do crazy stuff on me, ever since the ICS update.
Maybe the scratched paint is the cause of headache for some people, and covering/insulating it may relieve it of problems, but my feeling is that for quite a few that have posted on this thread, their reasons of malfunction differ, and in fact, are on the same boat as I am.
Please read my post which is the link below to understand the full symptom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24511005
I am not sure if ICS update from GS is related to this problem directly or indirecty. All I know is that I had a happy sensation until the update OTA.
Here is the reason why I know that neither the paint or back cover of sensation is the cause of skipping/jumping/stopping/calling last contacted....
I tried the experiment with the back cover off, but I could not replicate the problem, thus no paint chip, back cover or short circuit of any kind is the answer.
So, by method of deduction, with the cover off, I tried wriggling the headphone in the socket to see if that had any effect. None. I tried plugging and unplugging. None. I tried using the remote button to control the music app and the podcast player. No problem. The play/pause/vol up and down etc all worked fine. I even uninstalled the jays app and tried. Without the app, the button on my headset does play and stop, answer and end calls. It got me thinking, and the environment it caused the symptoms only could point to the mic on my headphones.
And guess what? It is the bloody Microphone on the headset. I bet you there are some of you with this problem using the stock headset supplied that have built in hands free.
Basically, the pressure spike caused by slamming of he car door, is the same effect as blowing into the mic of the headset. And once this is done, the only way you can stop is reboot.
Since there have been no posts on this thread, and while I was hunting desperately for answers, I came across a different thread. Similar symptoms. I posted there too, so u might want to take a peep.

Weird symptom. Possible solution? (Apart from using headsets without mic)
I have the same problem with my Sensation after i flashed the ICS. I have flashed two different custom ICS and with both i had the same problem. The music app goes crazy. I haven't find any pattern on what is that that cause the music app go crazy. When I touch the jack of the headphones (the original headphones of the Sensation) the app start forwarding, skipping track pause, etc. Also the same happens when i put the phone in my pocket. I haven't found any solution but maybe is the signal from the microphone as you said. When i shake the jack i think that signal noise i created and makes the app go crazy.
I hope someone will find a solution soon.
I just found a way to hear music in my ICS Sensation. I just disabled the default music app in the app settings that comes with the rom and i have installed the ESfile explorer which has its own music player. I am using ESFileExplorer's music player and i don't have problems till now...
Hope this is useful for someone.
I think issue is software related. Look here:

Does it happen ONLY when using headsets? I have the same problem, but is caused by the jack connector (only in ICS). It randomly sends signals that the phone understand as multimedia commands. If you remove the headsets and play the music with the speaker, no problem at all.
Crap.
I've got a really annoying problem; when listening to music on the headphones that came with the phone and a call comes in, the music appropriately stops to answer the call. But when the call ends, for any app other than the stock touchwiz music app, music will not start playing again until I unplug and replug in the headphones. It says music is playing, but no sounds comes through. The stock music app is mehh, I far prefer play music or power amp. Has anyone found a fix for this problem?

No, but it is annoying. You can also pause for maybe between one and two minutes then hit play again to make it start.
Also found that unplugging/plugging doesn't work if done too close to the end of the call.
Edit : fix ... see two posts down:
On beans 11 play music works. The only problem is occasionally when a song ends the next one won't start until I turn the screen on. But in terms of phone calls it fixes my problem

Okay, figured out the problem.
Go to settings, then motion, and at the bottom of the list uncheck (palm touch to mute)
Especially being in a case, it triggers the proximity sensor and mutes the music.
Haven't had a problem since I found aand unchecked this setting, so at least foe me that's what the issue was.
Hiya, sorry possibly Noob question. I am running cleanRom 5 and am having the same issues below that were outlined in the synergyrom thread.
Namely, when i get to the second song in a playlist, it stops and my only remedy is to force stop the music player. I do notice that it seems to keep playing the song after the song is over. That is, if I have a 3:30 long song, the player will show that it is playing 4 minutes or 5 minutes or however long I let it go, and thus is not skipping to the next song.
And this morning it started playing from the phone speaker after a couple of songs going through earphone (actually speakers through the earphone jack)
I know I did not have these issues on Synergy ICS build.
And I would post is the dev thread but A: it seems to occur on both ROMS on JB and B: Too much of Noob to be allowed to post there!
Edited to say this stock music player issue...

Still with both, I'm also experiencing some bugs with the music player. Freezes every now and then and FC's. Weirdest thing is sometimes I'm listening to music with headphones and when it changes to the next song it will start playing out the phone speakers like it forgot headphones were plugged in. Pause and play and it recognizes the headphones again. I also get random dropouts every now and then during playback with the screen off.
Does this with play music and apollo.
I'm also having issues with Google Music player - it will play a couple of songs and then just stop. I can exit out of the application and try to restart it but it never plays again until I either reboot the phone or kill the Google Music process and restart it.
I have not, however, had any issues with the music playing out of the speakers when the headset is plugged in.
So the main thing is driving me crazy is when I use Play music and listen to songs, when ever I skip to a new song the phone says music is unavailable. When the phone screen is on it seems to work fine but some times it does it to. The music will gray out and I won't be able to play anything. It is really bad when I am on 4g and driving trying to listen to music. I can't listen to more than 2 or 3 songs before I have that happen then I have to turn airplane mode on and off. Ever since the new marshmallow update my Internet has been horrible on my phone. Over half the speed test I try they fail when I'm on 4g. I'm about to throw this phone at the wall and take a loss cause I can't rely on it when I'm out to have a stable connection. Already tried wiping it to start fresh. WiFi works fine at home when I'm watching movies and YouTube but not play music. I'm wondering if power saving mode has something to do with it. I know it limits Internet on some things but I have never had a problem this bad until the new update. Any one have any ideas?
Here is a screen shot of a recent speed test I did about a week ago when I was running around.

Which app are you using to play your music? Are you like playing music that needs to be downloaded? I have all my music right on the phone with no issues at all and I use PowerAmp and it gets so loud you have to be careful lol.
It's the Google play music app. I have the subscription to listen to unlimited music

Damn I hate that app because it keeps the music from getting loud enough and then causes the problem you're having and a Bluetooth problem in the car constantly disconnecting. I don't know what to tell you because I dropped that app altogether because PowerAmp is so much better with the 10 band equalizer the pre amp which makes it even louder and you can even go into the settings and the set the gain levels all the way up and pretty much blow your ear drums out if you'd like lol.. I'd just download the music instead of streaming.
I haven't used Play Music often but I have used Amazon Music and Pandora with little to no issue while I am driving across country. Seems like it is a app issue or perhaps being Dozed after XYZ time.

It's definitely an app issue especially with the Google Play Music. It never got loud enough in the car while on Bluetooth or with headphones on it just sounded bland and low.
I've been trying to listen to music on my phone recently and I cant at all it seems. I can't even listen to it for 5 minutes on any player both pulsar and musicolet do this. They stop randomly they start again the music is muted, they skip songs randomly. I was literally walking along the path, with the screen watching my phone go haywire like it was possessed. Skipping songs constantly, and muting and stopping and starting.
I hope this can be fixed because music is my main use for the phone. I'll have to return it, if I cant even listen to music on it.
Do you by any chance were using earphones?
If a cable breaks there may be such behavior.

Yeah I do, my headphones work perfectly fine when plugged into other things though.

Try to do it the other way around.. get another set of headphones to your phone and see if the problem still occurs... If not, problem solved, cable broken..?

When was the last time that you had a factory reset?
Are there any other issues with other apps?

I just bought the phone, the only other issue is it crashes my wifi every time it connects, which I think is to do with the Asus router.
But anyway I think I may have solved the problem, I changed the battery optimisation for pulsar to don't optimise and that seems to have worked no problems for 2 days now.
