constant Internet issues. WiFi and cellular. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note5

So the main thing is driving me crazy is when I use Play music and listen to songs, when ever I skip to a new song the phone says music is unavailable. When the phone screen is on it seems to work fine but some times it does it to. The music will gray out and I won't be able to play anything. It is really bad when I am on 4g and driving trying to listen to music. I can't listen to more than 2 or 3 songs before I have that happen then I have to turn airplane mode on and off. Ever since the new marshmallow update my Internet has been horrible on my phone. Over half the speed test I try they fail when I'm on 4g. I'm about to throw this phone at the wall and take a loss cause I can't rely on it when I'm out to have a stable connection. Already tried wiping it to start fresh. WiFi works fine at home when I'm watching movies and YouTube but not play music. I'm wondering if power saving mode has something to do with it. I know it limits Internet on some things but I have never had a problem this bad until the new update. Any one have any ideas?

Here is a screen shot of a recent speed test I did about a week ago when I was running around.

Which app are you using to play your music? Are you like playing music that needs to be downloaded? I have all my music right on the phone with no issues at all and I use PowerAmp and it gets so loud you have to be careful lol.

It's the Google play music app. I have the subscription to listen to unlimited music

Damn I hate that app because it keeps the music from getting loud enough and then causes the problem you're having and a Bluetooth problem in the car constantly disconnecting. I don't know what to tell you because I dropped that app altogether because PowerAmp is so much better with the 10 band equalizer the pre amp which makes it even louder and you can even go into the settings and the set the gain levels all the way up and pretty much blow your ear drums out if you'd like lol.. I'd just download the music instead of streaming.

I haven't used Play Music often but I have used Amazon Music and Pandora with little to no issue while I am driving across country. Seems like it is a app issue or perhaps being Dozed after XYZ time.

It's definitely an app issue especially with the Google Play Music. It never got loud enough in the car while on Bluetooth or with headphones on it just sounded bland and low.

Android's Pandora app bugs

I was happy to see that Pandora recently released an official app for Google Android. I love Pandora and have been using it on my PC and my old Windows Mobile phone for a while.
Since I've been using Pandora on Android I've noticed a strange bug. After playing a couple songs through Pandora, the stock Music app fires up on its own and starts playing over the top of Pandora. This is extrememly annoying! I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing this problem and if so, has anyone found a solution.
The obvious solution is to switch to the music app and pause the song that is playing over the top of Pandora. However, this often locks up both apps requiring me to power off the phone to get Pandora to work again - then repeat this process over and over and over. Help!
This happens to me all the time, but I've not had the lock up problem. I usually listen on my headphones, and the button on the adapter piece pauses the Music app, so I don't have to switch around. Hope that helps.

Anyone else have horrible music playing experience?

If I use the stock player, which seems nice, as soon as I enable an EQ, I get this terrible effect that sounds like it's being over compressed. It happens with all the eq settings, and even custom.
I stated using Mixzing and it's a great player, the eq is awsome, but when I play songs it skips all the time.
That's odd. Mine doesn't seem to suffer from any compression with EQ use.
I don't actually use EQ but i have some poor experience playing music at times.
Sometimes when I'm listening to music through the headphone port and the phone does something (receive a text message or just use data or something) there are audible pops and clicks in the audio. Once the phone is done doing what it's doing they stop
I experience the same small pops and hesitations when playing music. Mine occur both from the speaker and the headset jacks. Sometimes I can play an entire song and have no noise, but most of the time it occurs a couple of times during a song. Very annoying.
Mine doesn't do that either. Good for me I guess, but odd.
I also have noticed the same issues. Especially when there is an incoming call. Granted, IM not stock, running cog 2.1.5
Sent from my Captivate
Yeah, I get the crackling noises too, but haven't noticed whether it's only with mixzing or stock player.
same issue here with the stock player AND mixzing. others have said that apps running in the background cause this issue but I tested that by killing everything in the background first and the issue still occurs. I know that android will auto-start stuff it needs but if the stock apps kill the music quality, then they have more fixes to release.
Weird, when I get a notification my music stops completely just to play my tone... is this normal? Any way to disable this? Hell I didn't even know stock player had EQ adjustments, where do I find them?

Bluetooth playback is when I notice the most distortion. I don't bother with any kind of EQ.
I get clicks and pops from all headphones, anything I connect the phone to, car, stereo, anything connected to the headphone jack.
I've tried and listened to music using all of these and get clicks and pops from all of them.
Stock player
MixZing
Cubed player
Tunewiki
Meridian
The player from Cyanogen mod
Pandora
Last.fm
Astro player
Every music player app I've tried clicks and pops, pauses and stutters. It does this no matter the encoding of the file, no matter the source, it clicks and pops and clicks and pops. It's worse than the cheapest mp3 player I've ever owned and frankly, I wish I could return this phone to AT&T but I'm past my 30 days. I really expected some updates, real updates for the GPS which is why I kept it past the 30 days. I thought the clicks and pops were a fluke, but to this day, GPS sucks and the music player clicks and pops. It's beyond annoying and if I could return it, I would.
Earlier today the GPS had me in Bakersfield, CA, over 2,000 miles from where I actually was. 2,000 miles!
And no, the explanation "it's a phone, not a gps or a media player" is not acceptable. These are features we pay for as customers. And a fix for these issues means I don't have to screw around with custom ROMs and settings and hacks and blah blah. It should just work, period.
Click click.. click click...
Yes, I get clicks and pops and stutters, yes I do...
...and yes, I've tried all the various buffer options in the MixZing app and am using the full PAID version, PAID version of the app. That would be the media player I bought because the stock one that comes with the phone can't read playlists created elsewhere. If you have even a moderate music collection it's absurd that the damn stock player can't read a standard playlist file and users would be expected to create all their playlists on their device. Ridiculous.
May I suggest you try two things and see if it helps:
1. Try a lag fix if you haven't already
2. Download SetCPU, lock the cpu at 1GHz and try music
I'd be very interested to see if either of these would help, have you tried factory resetting or a new ROM?

[Q] Stop music playing when connecting to bluetooth

Hi,
Got a seriously annoying problem. Whenever my phone connects to bluetooth, which is usually in my car, it starts playing the last song I listened to by auto launching google play music and playing away. I don't know if I'm being blind but I can't find a setting to turn this off. Sometimes I might want to stream music in the car, but not automatically on connecting!
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Sorry to jump on this ages old thread, but I'm wondering this same thing. Google Play Music is the culprit, just like you, and it's also when I connect my phone to my car's bluetooth and I don't want it to automatically play. I didn't find any options within the app itself.
I had this issue before and I used ROM Toolbox Pro to turn off one of the autostart receivers for this app and that seemed to work, but I cannot remember which one it was or even how it would've become enabled again in the first place.
EDIT: I think one reason for this is any songs that might be in 'queue' inside the app. Like if you were playing from a playlist or something. Wipe the songs out of the queue (should just be able to swipe them away) and I think that should work.
I'm still looking for a bluetooth receiver I might be able to disable to not have to worry about it.
Interesting. I've always had to use third party options to MAKE the phone autostart music when connecting to bluetooth. As the above posts states there are no options in Play Music to turn this on or off. What ROM are you running? Is it possible your ROM, a third party app, or maybe even your head unit is causing this?

[Q] Music playback keeps pausing. Who has a fix?

My Galaxy S6 keeps randomly pausing music playback while I have it connected to the aux input in my car for no apparent reason. Phone is rooted on the stock AT&T Rom and has been restored via ODIN twice without any change. It did this before root as well without change. I have disabled nuplayer in the dev settings and tried resyncing my library multiple times thinking it was due to corrupted files. This clearly is a samsung issue and seems to be apparent with older generations of the Galaxy series as well. Does anyone have a fix? I can't imagine the rest of you are actually putting up with this bug on a $600 phone. It's really driving me nuts having to keep fiddling with the damn phone while I'm driving to unpause the music, raise the volume past the warning, just to do it again a few minutes later. Tried the stock music app as well as doubletwist, no changes. Could this be caused by some motion sensing feature that needs to be disabled?
So who here has a fix? Appreciate any tips or solutions. Thanks
I know I'm not the only one. Who knows the fix and wouldn't mind sharing? Thanks
Bump for info
I have a similar issue, as my Bluetooth earphones just stops playing music. The the strange thing is that my other pair of Bluetooth earphones work fine, and I've never had any issue with other Bluetooth media connections (including those in a car). It could be specific to your car.
I'm using Google Play Music.
Have you tried it with another system?

Do you guys happen to have the music pause gesture? Had this problem with the note 3 where video seems like it was lagging really bad but it was actually pausing and unpausing because of smart stay. Turned it off and it was perfect. It's probably a screen protector messing with the sensors for the gesture.

I faced this too.
This happened when i play music directly from the Widget. However if i open the app and play music, it didnt stop.
Hope this helps.
Blame the ****ty memory management that keeps killing apps.
Sent from my SM-G920T
OP, are you saying that when it pauses, it also resets the volume warning? Or was that just additional annoyance?
^^Combination of both. When playing music on the device via aux in my car, I have the phone set to max volume, then control volume output via my car. When using the stock music app, doubletwist, etc, the music will randomly pause playback for no reason while the screen is off while the phone sits in my lap untouched. Smart stay is off, and I'm running out of ideas honestly. Been listening to Pandora recently and haven't had issues in the past four days, so it's something with music playback for the device only. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
Maybe your cable is loose or has a bad connection on one end or the other? When you unplug headphones, music playback stops. Try using an app like Trigger or Tasker to make something happen on headphone unplug, such as launching a certain app or whatnot so that you'll know if the phone thinks it got unplugged.
Try clearing the cache of the music app ir use Cache Cleaner (downloadable from Playstore) to clean all cache. You can also try going to recovery mode to wipe cache.
Unfortunately I clear cache weekly, and am certain its not a connection issue. Are there additional touch or motion sensor other than the smart stay function (currently disabled) that could be triggering this?
I don't know what to tell you. Using aux is similar to plugging in via headphones and I've had no issues in that regard. I've had no problems with Bluetooth streaming either. In cases like this, it could be app interference or faulty hardware.

Is it only happening when you're using it in your car? What about with headphones or BT audio connections.
Do you have any sound effects enabled? I noticed that SoundAdapt really affected the performance of my phone, so it could be a factor.

I'm almost certain its some kind of gesture that is interfering. I don't use any of them and will gladly disable anything that could remotely cause this. I noticed the other night when my friend was driving my car, I was sitting in the passenger seat with my phone playing music through aux for at least an hour and no pausing whatsoever. I had the phone in my hand the entire time instead of near my leg sitting face up on my seat, which made me realize it must be some lockscreen gesture interfering. Any ideas?
Is the screen actually on? I don't know of any gestures that have an effect while the screen is off other than the one that makes the time display pop up, and I don't think that would cause music to pause.
There's a gesture that mutes if you put your hand over the sensors. Maybe it thinks that is getting tripped? But I don't know if that would cause the music to pause. Maybe try intentionally doing that gesture to see what effect it has?
If you think it's a gesture, just disable all of them and see if the problem clears up, then slowly reenable them to see when it breaks again.

Thanks. I will try that and let you know. I went ahead and disabled all of them. The screen is off btw when this happens.
I think it is because you are playing the music on full volume. I believe that the phone on some songs can't support the power output causing it to pause. Try instead playing it one level less than max. I noticed that this only happens with some songs specifically at max volume. This doesn't happen at a lower volume on these songs.
Galaxy s6 edge and s6 music pause or stop issue fixed
i had the same issue with my Samsung Galaxy s6 edge. music stops or pauses especially when i am using Soundcloud, pandora, Milk music player or Beatport.
but i fixed the issue .
First open the "Smart Manager" app and select battery.
Second select "details" and you should see most of the apps that uses more power.
Select "Cancel Auto stop" on the apps u want will be using especially your music app. if you don't want then to stop after sometime.
Thank you
Hope this solves ur problem
I am having this same problem on my S6 edge. Not rooted (first phone I haven't felt the need to root since the Evo).
It happens whether using connected headphones, bluetooth headphones, or in the car A2DP using the Google Music app, Pandora, or Slacker.
Was hypothesizing that notifications are causing the pauses. Would like to try the suggestion above but WHERE IS THE SMART MANAGER app?
Also, was wondering if anyone with the problem fooled around with the animation scale settings described here: http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/galaxy-s6-tips-and-tricks/4/ (under How to unlock Developer options)? Wondering if that is causing my/our problems.
Thanks,
Tony

Audio stuttering

Hi all, just wondered if anyone else had this issue. While playing music through google play music everything works fine, even with the screen off, however occasionally when I wake the device back up I might get a slight pause or stutter in the music playback. This can also happen if I'm switching between intensive apps while music is playing in the background. I've performed a factory reset, and it doesn't make a difference if using headphones or not.

probably nope
I'll pay attention to this in way to check if this happens on my phone too, i have the same firmware running except that I'm on B372 (latest build for BLN-L21C432).
Anyway, begin to warn Huawei through their contact form on their site. The first they're aware about this, the first they can work on it and find a fix (if it's possible).
I've noticed the same problem last week. Music stops playing pretty much every second time the screen gets turned off.
Same problem with Spotify and Soundcloud apps, however weirdly enough the default Music app works without any problems.
Any suggestions?
