[Q] mac adres (wifi) missing - HTC Sensation

Hello,
i have a not rooted Sensation XE and very happy about it.
but....
After HTC offered a update, i installed it (and why not). But after that i can't get wifi and bluetooth working. In de the hardare information und wif and bluetooth at MAC adres it says 'not avaiable' for wifi and bluetooth.
Setting back to factory didn't help.
so, anybody has a clue what could have happened here, and what i an do about it?
P

I have heard of this happening before, unfortunately I'm not sure of the solution. You can try rooting the device and installation of custom rom. I'm rooted and don't have any Wi-Fi issues. Perhaps someone else has a better solution. You're options are limited being stock. Have you tried factory reset? I wish I could be of more help! Best wishes.

Thanks for the support, and yes, i thought about rooting, but for the HTC sensation with 1.25 it's soo difficult to do!( imho) of course back to factory is tried and didn't help. Now i can hope for after sales support of the one i bought it from. But that will se sending it to them and wait for weeks, and then hope it's not too expensive.

Try to root your phone, its not that difficult. Try KGS Utility, its a lot easier or JB tool. I have the WiFi issue since 4 months and nothing has led me to a solution. I have changed roms, kernels, RUU stock, bootloader locked and unlocked, s-off and s-on, wifix manager. None worked, all efforts in vain. Please go through all the posts in the sensation forum for optimal solution. Different people have different issues with wifi. Like you have after HTC update. For me by changing roms while s-off and rooted. Anyways hope this helps and hope u get ur wifi because trust me, I'm fed up and frustrated with this issue and cant afford to buy a new phone right now.

Hit thanks if I was of any help

Thanks, for that (and all those links. I did read several of them before). I did some custom rom intall on my good old HD2 back in the good old days 2 years ago, so i am not totally unfamiliar with custom roms. But the 1.2x version on my sensation XE and fiddling with wires in your phone and stuff doesn't sound appealing to me.
Maybe i first try to get it repaired over guarantee(sp?) from the supplier i bought it from. I can get into internet, i have 500 mb per month bandwidth in my contract and for 5 euros i have 500 mb more each month. But it still sucks. So maybe some day i can convince myself to take a wire and try get a rooted device.:silly:

OK.. Its good u have ur warranty.. Good luck:good:

Update: the guarantee was used and succesfull so! dec. 14th i gave my phone to the company, and jan 4th i got it back, repaired for free and all is working well!. So still stock, but after the guarantee period is over, i certainly will lok more into the rooting stuff. Thanks for the support.

Hi, just a few more infos. Is the phone stock rom, custom rom? If is custom rom is something rong with it, if it's stock then you can send the phone back to HTC.Second option is to root your sensation and enjoy a custom rom, and the full power of your device.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710 using XDA App
it is the stock rom. but i had to send it in to telstra to get it fixed and they did a software update to it and thats when i started to get the problems. also what roms do you recommend.
Is nothing major rong with your phone. I reckon they done a bad flash, and it needs a reflash. But if you are looking to root your device and have a custom rom look here
http://www.htcsensationroms.com/
but first read here

and if you have a question just read between pages, you will find the answers because someone already asked before you. And if you don't find it just ask,the nice people at XDA will always help you.

Locked bootloader after hardware repair

Hi there people, firstly I would like to thank all the devs and xda users out there that have helped me in the past. Xda all the way.
Right, I have a proplem. I currently have a HTC sensation and more or less know everything there is to know about how it works, rooting, installing rims etc, as I have done this plenty of times before. When I bought the phone secondhand it was unlocked although still branded to Vodafone. I pushed it to the max with mods and upgrades but then came a hardware fault. Not sure what it was so sent it to HTC. I received it back good as new and was able to mod it again Luke before... One more hardware fault meant sending it off again. This time I received it as good as new, but now the bootloader is locked...and before you say anything, I have run the official htcdev unlock but no luck. Unlock token check keeps failing. I would like to root so I can install Roms and kernels as the stock os is really slow and I don't even need the HTC sense. I had it overclocked to 2ghz before, with the xe Rom with beats. Was great, but now I can't do anything... If anyone out there knows what to do, please let me know because I know a lot of people are having the same problem... It's due to a motherboard replacement or something that wasn't originally intended for unlocking so not on some list...

Your motherboard has been replaced.
HTC Dev unlock does not support the new motherboards.
Check your IMEI, it should have changed with the change in the motherboard.
Now, if you do want to enjoy all the benefits of having an unlocked bootloader, I can suggest an appropriate method if your can provide the details of your Hboot.
Yh I guessed that may have been the problem... My hboot is 1.27.. I now have s-off after countless attempts with juopunutbear, and wire trick... But I'm still not completely happy.. I havemy custom recovery and rooted Rom but I still can't use custom kernels for oc, etc.. any suggestions???

[Q] European RUU

Regarding the European RUU, I have a completely stock branded to vodafone desire S with the 2.3.5 OTA. Will I have to take any measures besides backing up my stuff to install the RUU?
Normally i wouldn't ask this, but the phone being limited to vodafone only sim cards makes me wonder if the RUU will affect any of it or if i have to do extra steps that I wouldn't with an unbranded phone.
Thanks,
Daniel
I think no one really knows yet. RUU is still too fresh. My guess, yes you can just install this on your branded Desire S. Your SIM lock will stay (this is never affected by a ROM). If you now have a Vodafone boot logo, you might lose that. Any apps put on there by Vodafone, you'll also lose, of course.
Actually that would work great for me, tired of the preinstalled crap As for not losing the sim lock, doesn't bothed me so much.
Kinda just want to update without issues, wondered how it would fit this specific situation.
Thanks for the reply m8
Update:
Installed the RUU without issues, phone seems to be working fine so far.. actually have more free memory than before (both without apps installed, did a reset before installing the RUU)
Wifi and 3G are working, phone is smooth but to be fair.. only installing apps atm.. glad to have the update
Hi,

Did you use anything else except the ics RUU from htcdev? I also have a stock branded TIM Italy Desire S last time updated also via OTA to android 2.3.5 and I want to upgrade to ICS. Sorry for posting in your thread, but I didn't find anything in the forums to answer my question.

I have a tim desire S if you want update it you must debrand you desire S but you can lose your original tim Rom and probably your lost the garantie..

I don't care about the guarantee because I don't use the phone in Italy from where it was bought. Debranding is also a good thing for me. Just want to know if it worked just with the RUU for hin or he needed extra stuff.

no need to unbrand. This RUU is WWE and can be used with all Desire S. Just run RUU if your phone is s-on.
Or you can follow my instruction if you want to use goldcard to update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1866204
i have a t-mobile brand desire S. After install the RUU the brand is going away.
ICS i running well to me. no issues.

Did the update with the RUU. Everithing worked fine, the phone is now unbranded. Still has somebugs. On the homescreen some app shortcuts refuse to open on touch sometimes and apps crash when you click links inside them. Hope there will be at least a minor update to sove the bugs ..

[Q] How to unroot, s-off my HTC Sensation?

Hi all,
I've googled and read some threads on how to make my phone back to 'normal' - by which I mean how it was before I decided to start messing with it and put CM10.1 on it but the guides etc are a little too technical for me and I want to make sure I don't make any errors!
Can someone please tell me what I need to do or point me in the right direction so I know how to unroot my phone and have regular stock HTC sensation ROM on it again (whatever version of android it's meant to be on).
I think I made my phone s-off so do I need to reverse this? Also I'm on o2 in the UK if that makes a difference?
Many thanks in advance for your help.

hi mate,
look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672425
it is optional to reverse from S-OFF to S-ON
but be carefull with that because you may brick your device
but it is not so important to do it
Thanks for that mate.
I'd only really be interested in making my phone S-On again so that I can sell it (like in CEX or somewhere) - will they know if my phone is S-OFF?

If you flashed the stock RUU and just left it at that, I think they would be unlikely to notice, or know. (CEX)
If they did somehow find out, you could always go back a few days later to a different employee, this time with the phone S-On.

Hi,
CEX do a complete check on the phone to see if it works.
Run a RUU,to put it all on stock, but leave the s-off.
I am sure they do not care about that, and you may brick your phone trying to get it back to s-on.
Thanks guys.
Basically I'm just thinking that I'm going to make my phone stock again as I'm starting to get some issues with it now but I think it may be to do with the fact that the phone is getting old too as appose to just bugs in the ROM that I use so for the time being I will stick stock ROM back on and keep using that until I get a new phone.
I will leave it as s-off for now as I'm not taking it to be sold just yet anyway.
Thanks again everyone.

Hi,
I think that is what he said in his last post.
And that link you gave would be perfect for that.
Even if he does sell it,he should keep the s-off.
Chances are,the next owner would appreciate it.
CEX would not be bothered by it.
And it does not affect the phone in any way, unless you return it for warranty.
I think in a month or two my warranty would have ran out anyway as by the end of this summer I would have owned the phone for 2 years.
I suppose that has made the decision for me...
