Hi all,
I've googled and read some threads on how to make my phone back to 'normal' - by which I mean how it was before I decided to start messing with it and put CM10.1 on it but the guides etc are a little too technical for me and I want to make sure I don't make any errors!
Can someone please tell me what I need to do or point me in the right direction so I know how to unroot my phone and have regular stock HTC sensation ROM on it again (whatever version of android it's meant to be on).
I think I made my phone s-off so do I need to reverse this? Also I'm on o2 in the UK if that makes a difference?
Many thanks in advance for your help.

hi mate,
look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672425
it is optional to reverse from S-OFF to S-ON
but be carefull with that because you may brick your device
but it is not so important to do it
Thanks for that mate.
I'd only really be interested in making my phone S-On again so that I can sell it (like in CEX or somewhere) - will they know if my phone is S-OFF?

If you flashed the stock RUU and just left it at that, I think they would be unlikely to notice, or know. (CEX)
If they did somehow find out, you could always go back a few days later to a different employee, this time with the phone S-On.

Hi,
CEX do a complete check on the phone to see if it works.
Run a RUU,to put it all on stock, but leave the s-off.
I am sure they do not care about that, and you may brick your phone trying to get it back to s-on.
Thanks guys.
Basically I'm just thinking that I'm going to make my phone stock again as I'm starting to get some issues with it now but I think it may be to do with the fact that the phone is getting old too as appose to just bugs in the ROM that I use so for the time being I will stick stock ROM back on and keep using that until I get a new phone.
I will leave it as s-off for now as I'm not taking it to be sold just yet anyway.
Thanks again everyone.

Hi,
I think that is what he said in his last post.
And that link you gave would be perfect for that.
Even if he does sell it,he should keep the s-off.
Chances are,the next owner would appreciate it.
CEX would not be bothered by it.
And it does not affect the phone in any way, unless you return it for warranty.
I think in a month or two my warranty would have ran out anyway as by the end of this summer I would have owned the phone for 2 years.
I suppose that has made the decision for me...

By "noob proof" i mean the easiest way to do it all.
I've done things with like flashing software on psps, ipods, etc before.
HTC's official unlock process should be as easy as it gets, and due sometime this month unless it's slipped back.
The stock Sensation is a pretty solid phone though. So whether it's worth unlocking depends in part on whether you're happy with your experience using it, or are tempted by features offered by custom ROMs.
I unlocked mine as soon as I could. But then for me being able to tinker around with custom ROMs is part of the appeal of Android.

Just think it's a noob looking for attention. If he did want S-ON, he would've replied. I think he pretty damn well knows what S-OFF is, just wanted some attention for a few days.
He did replied to the first responce to his question and then the semi flames started for him not knowing any better. Noob for sure. He will know the difference now or and hopefully search before posting next time. Hopefully by then he knows the true status of his phone that's just something we have to deal with during this stage of a new phone. Once development picks up and there are more threads and more people posting useful information for the noobs to learn from it will make things a lot better.

Dude that's impressive you've got an S-OFF'd device, what the devs have been longing for to get this device underway so to speak. Get in touch with one of the devs here they'd be very interested to hear about your device, maybe they can arrange something to figure out based on your phone how to get S-OFF for everyone...
Ah yet another thread about a magic device and this one with both CM10 and stock 4.0.4 on it. It's magic I say!
Sorry about the confusion, let me try to clear things up without telling too much. The device came with a stock 4.0.4 ROM when it was handed to me, I quickly rooted and loaded CM10 simply because I prefer that to sense. I'm not going to show a picture because I was very lucky to get this device, and I don't want to piss off anyone at HTC. As for sharing with a dev to help with s-off, if anyone wants to PM me, I'll be happy to help short of sending my device out.

How exactly does taking a picture of the bootloader have negative consequences for you? It's not like HTC is going to send a hit squad to get the phone back.
Anyway hopefully a dev can figure out how to s-off based on how yours is.

Gentleman's got a point, this is a developer forum, screenshots of unreleased devices, modded devices and S-OFF-d devices that are not supposed to be this way are common here. Heck, even if we vote this thread to feature on the Portal and it had a screenshot, HTC still wouldn't ask for the phone back. This isn't Apple blur out the rest if you want, only way to get devs attention is to post screens to prove you're legit
Ohh i got it too . I can write all of these lines. A screen shot will tell us the truth.
If u know how to flash CM 10,that means u have some knowlegde about Android, Modding things, root ....... It can't be said that HTC 'll take it back.
One more,no serial nummers, Imei, personal datas are requested to post.Just the screen of bootloader. It'll help all the dev to come near to S-OFF,which we all need.
Regards.

A screenshot will not help anyone.
Even physical access to the device will probably not help developing a method to s-off other devices.
I don't think the OP worries that HTC get angry with him, but rather with their employee or subcontractor who got him this. It doesn't matter whether or not this worry is justified.
There is no reason to doubt that it's true. This is not the first out of the box s-off device in the wild. And even if it isn't true, that's just too bad for him and nobody else.
Also, the whole thread seems a bit pointless. The OP didn't really ask anything: What kind of OneS is this? Uhm yeah...I guess he is just really happy having s-off and wants us all to be equally happy for him.

as long as you stay on the stock room you should get the OTA update. Issue though is, you might lose root and possibly your unlock

If you're going to root and unlock, you should forget about OTAs. You may get one, but taking it when you're rooted can brick your phone. There's no need to take one anyway, since pre-rooted versions usually show up in the Development section that day.
If your CID is 11111111 and you take the OTA, your phone will most likely brick.. so avoid it
Thanks all... actually went back to CM 10 last night. I had relocked and everything hoping for an update someday but I couldn't help it and had to go back to Cm. Battery life seems much better on the latest nightly compared to the stable version.

If a rooted / hboot 1.14 bootloader unlocked phone with super CID is unable to take an OTA without bricking, how does one get a new radio, wifi firmware, etc.? Please don't say downgrading hboot, because I am already familiar with that somewhat dangerous approach. Others are suggesting that if one's bootloader is relocked and a stock ruu flashed, OTAs are safe. Is this not true?

I bricked after relocking and running ruu but to be fair I downgraded my hboot to 1.09 and am not sure if that had anything to do with it.. good luck..dunno why you would want the ota anyway.
It is not that I necessarily want the OTA. I am concerned that an important radio update will come along, or something else that requires a full ruu, and I will be SOL. This HTC thing is driving me crazy - my Atrix was so easy to work with. I have yet to see a jb ROM that was 100% stable for 100% of people, so not having the option of using a stock ruu if it is available scares me.

I have noticed that typically when things are not stable right away for me it was a bad download or just a bad flash. A stock based ROM like viper has always been stable for me and am currently using paranoid android also perfectly stable. In any case, once the source for the ota is released devs will most likely use that as a base for their next upgrades so I really wouldn't worry about it.

My CID is 11111111 and I have taken many OTA's. I have switched and changed ROM's and reRUU'ed many times. From Hong Kong to German to Telstra. Taking OTA's all over the place. I would say my phone has at least done 8 official HTC OTA's.
Not once has it bricked.
Is it some check AT&T ROM's do?
Personally I have found unlocked bootloader and supercid do not effect an OTA. Modifications to /system are more likely to be troublesome. They are likely to be lost or could even make the update fail.
See, this is exactly why I can't necessarily trust much of what I hear about the HOX. I wish the official resources thread would answer this, and the answer woud be provided by experienced HOX devs.

Wow - you guys are so helpful. What exactly is my type? Someone who knows enough about hardware to believe that there is more than just front end changes included in some OTA/RUU updates? Turge had to include a wifi update to make Viper stable for some people. I am sure you two knew exactly what the problem was as soon as the ROM came out, including all of the necessary changes, the partitions involved, etc. You've pretty much just proved you are idiots if you believe that there is nothing else included in an RUU other than system and hboot updates.
Oh, and thanks for making me miss the Atrix forum some more. The people were actually nice there. I didn't realize that I should check out the XDA forums before buying a phone - the Nexus folks can't be any worse than you two.

Thank you for giving me a good laugh... The forums being kind and your intelligence level are directly proportional...because you're a stuck up noob you are getting the treatment you deserve...and your type is for the iPhone or better yet a flip phone from a couple years back you won't have to worry about software changes on that...I'm still kind curious what you're trying to get at? I'm a bit confused how you're comparing hardware and ruu and ota
Okay, really not sure how I am a stuck up noob. Or unintelligent, as I am perfectly capable of reading lots of threads where people who seem to know what they are talking about argue over one's ability to go back to stock using a RUU. I was merely looking for confirmation from more than one person that I could go back to stock using a RUU and then apply the OTA if necessary. My point was simply that if something came out that was not possible to implement via a ROM - i.e. a radio update, I wanted the ability to flash it. Without downgrading hboot, it appears that anyone with hboot 1.14 is STUCK WITH THEIR PRESENT RADIO. There is conflicting info out there regarding one's ability to go back to stock using an RUU and then apply the OTA in the future, and I was merely trying to confirm that this was possible. If you look in this thread, you will see one person say it is perfectly safe, and another that it will brick the phone. Care to decide who is right? I generally like to get a few opinions before I task a risk, but apparently you don't get that. It is a perfectly reasonable question.
Here's a straight answer.... That's a bit risky going back to stock through ruu than applying an ota I've seen many people brick that way idk if it's just because the cid is 11111111 or whatever but there's something in the system that the ota doesn't like and than rejects..though I do not see the point of doing an ota esepcially many involve huge security updates ie hboot as you stated which will probably result in no root. . I can confidently assure you att will bring out a new nazi hboot out with the jb update too...so my advice would be to stick to non stock and enjoy
Thanks - I appreciate the response. Still a bit concerned about being stuck on my present radio, but perhaps that will get resolved in the future. Have a great weekend.
I'm sire your aware but you can downgrade hboot
Thanks, yes. I've read the entire downgrade thread a few times. It appears that more than one person has bricked their phone, and that isn't a risk I can take right now.

Hello xda members,
I ran into a problem the other day. My nandroid is no longer with me due to a defective hard drive . I now decided I want to return to stock to sell the phone.
I'm on hboot 1.27 and iam s off.
I want to flash an ruu, the phone is the Europe/international version. These forums are so big that I do not know where to start looking for ruu's, neither do I know what type I need since I have numberous phones and always kept a nandroid ..
Is there anyone that can either push me I'm the right direction or even give me a link to an htc ruu website?
Thanks in advance.

Since your phone is s-off you can write supercid to it and choose any RUU, but stick with the latest WWE ones.
EDIT:
After supercid I suggest this one:
RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.33.401.53_Radio_11.76A.3504.00U_11.24A.3504.31_M_release_280871_signed.exe
