Just to clarify, the title is not from me ...
Have you seen the TG01??
I knew Tosh were doing some WM devices, but nothing really fancy so far.
This one sounds like the best ever...
Design wise, it looks quite sexy. 9.9mm thin and 4.1" WVGA screen!!
UI wise, need to see more.... looks a bit weird those stripey stuffs.
There're already a lot of articles on the web, just google "Toshiba TG01".

It's got Flash support, so I guess it is IEM6... but more, apparently you can watch DivX and play HD games!
With the Qualcomm SnapDragon at 1GHz?
Any of you guys, more specs?
full flash support at last available on a mobile with a decent screen !!!
Then tomorrow there will be iPhone, Touch HD and Toshiba TG01 killer...
ohhh I want this home screen, can anyone make it happen?
I just saw this on "The Register" and ran here to try and tell everyone.

Based on the spec, it seems a GORGEOUS phone.
My future phone. I'm still a little disappointed to know that that will come out this summer ...
I needs me that phone!
It better come with US 3g support.

full specs
not nearly enough hardware buttons
It´s beautyfull!
Just 3 cons I can see:
1. NO physical keyboard
2. WM 6.1
3. No support form this site as is not HTC build
Just my opinion...

Not exactly, how about the RAM? Other than that, expansion for 32 GB and a 1 Ghz processor... very neat! Maybe the most important spec of all (which is also missing).... how much?!?!?

Fair enough on the keyboard and OS as you can't please everyone.
I reckon there would be enough overlap between this Tosh handset and the HTC phones to make it worthwhile. The SE X1 isn't marketed as HTC but we know it's *built* by them... so it's got it's own section at the bottom of the forum.
this is one awesome looking & powerful device...
but need to see the full specs and price once released...
No one mentioned anything about battery life.
I wonder if they just made those specs???
See it in action.
So there is no stylus? Not dual SIM? Screen res. 65k only? 512mb onboard memory? But all in all everything is great. Slim, BIG and fast. Monster!
What about sliding keyboard? But I guess it won't be that slim if there's a keyboard. If only I can...I will definitely buy this WinMo device now.
If only there will ever be a device with a big screen (at least 3,5 inch), a NORMAL D-Pad and a sliding qwerty keyboard which is fast and nice looking...
Something like the HTC Universal (but with a sliding keyboard) with -2009- specs...
I HATE "touchsensitive" keys, trackballs and CRAPPY D-Pads like the one on the Touch Pro/Diamond.
I guess "style" isn´t everything
Oh man....
Oh I LIKE that interface!
HTC has TouchFlo, Xperia has Panels, this Tosh has Stripes.
toshiba
the specs are very intresting but i think touch HD is the tallest phone i will be confortable with....this one is even taller...

Add Toshi's record of bad support and buggy OS... That is, I wouldn't hold my breath. Hope they've learnt from their past mistakes.
I haven't readlly checked out the specs, just one q:
- does it have a capacitive screen?
- can it record calls?
- does it have a quality (!) camera?
(-does it have quality stereo speakers with stereo widening?)

Even a crappy D-pad is better than nothing at all (see the Touch HD), which, practically, makes gaming / emu running almost impossible.

In the past, Toshi's PDA's / phones haven't been manufactured by HTC.
Hi!
I'm really fed up with my crappy HTC Kaiser. It has slow processor, but mainly the camera s***s a big time!
Therefore I'd like to buy a new phone with there specs:
- Good, fast camera usable indoors, flash, MPs do not matter - 2Mpix is OK (Sliding camera cover is a plus.)
- Resistive screen as I want to have an (the?) option to use stylus.
- QWERTY keyboard.
- Probably Windows Mobile as I don't know Symbian and it seems WM is more customizable than Symbian, which I like.
- Fast processor.
So far I threw all HTCs out (crappy cameras), X2 (weak processor, expensive)... that leaves me with Samsung B7610, right? But it lack an info LED (doesn't it?) and its indoors shooting is mediocre at least (so I had heard).
So far the best mobile camera seems to be Sony Ericsson K750i (Cyber-Shot).
Any ideas? N97, Vivaz Pro look nice, but they are Symbian.
Want to use the phone as my organizer and eBook reader, not for chatting on Facebook.
Thanks for any suggestions!
- Motorola Droid/Milestone (Android)
Or without a keyboard, but much better cameras:
- Sony Ericsson Satio (Symbian)
- Motorola XT720 Motoroi (Android)
And to be honest, I wouldn't buy any Windows Mobile device now, cause WM6.5 is doomed. That means, no developer support etc. (who wants to develop an application for a dying platform?).
Android is the best choice at the moment, IMO.
The Nexus One camera is also awesome!
Thanks. Well, Android phones have capacitate screens, so no stylus.
But I friend of mine promised me to lend me Samsung Spica so I can check Android.
Also Satio should find its way into my hand - that's for its camera and Symbian testing.
There simply aren't any Windows Mobile phones with a good camera. The HD2 is less bad than some, but it's lightyears behind some of the better Symbian devices. The SE Satio is an obvious possibility, or Samsung i8910 HD if you're more interested in video than still pictures. Or you could pick up an old LG Renoir second hand (although whether that really counts as a smartphone is debatable).
So, those are my choices. I'm on Verizon and those are my options. Android is NOT an option for me.
So... All three have various advantages that I can see, and I'm torn on what the best route to go is.
Omnia has a wonderful screen (Bigger, and OLED), faster processor, FM radio, 8 GB internal storage besides the card, and a flash for the camera. But I worry about support for it. There isn't a www.samsung-developers.com after all! Many reviews say the UI is clunky at best and that the device seems sluggish plus it only has 208 RAM.
Imagio has more RAM, the radio, better built in UI. But there is no flash for the camera. I worry that I'll find the device nice, but nothing special about it... which I guess if it works as advertised I don't necessarily need special.
TPro2 has same RAM as Imagio, World Phone capabilities, the same UI as Imagio, and one of best keyboards a phone has ever had, at least according to all the reviews I've read. But it doesn't have flash for the Camera, and it doesn't hav ea radio.
Frankly, I'm just really really torn... any opinions?
Touch pro 2 Defenitly. The Omnia II, I wouldn't even consider. The Imagio is nice, but why not get all the functionality of a phone by getting a keyboard, and better more a keyboard that tilts. The keyboard is by far the best i've used and the tilting comes in handy while watching movies. The speaker quality is excellent and the device is not that thick at all. Maybe a smidge heavier than most but not at all annoying. This is by far the best device I've had! I suggest the touch pro 2.
+1 for Rhodium!!
The only one with a hardware keyboard, in fact the best with kb!
By far
Have a look here:

What about Sense UI? The Imagio seems to have a new version. Is it possible to upgrade the TPro to the same UI level?
Yes it´s possible always with one of our great Chefs cooked ROM´s
Hi there,
I'm thinking of changing my old HTC Touch Diamond later this year and don't know which phone to choose.
What my Diamond lacks and what I want is:
- big (3,7" - 4,0") capacitive screen (an (S)AMOLED would be great)
- fast processor & much RAM
- Android (2.2)
- physical QWERTY keyboard?
So, my choices are Motorola Milestone 2 (Droid 2 in the US), HTC Desire Z and Samsung Galaxy S - quite different from each other but all have some pros and cons.
I love the big SuperAMOLED screen of the SGS, but I'd like to have a QWERTY keyboard (is it worth? I mean, isn't Swype on a 4" screen faster?).
Also, people say that the build quality of MM2 (and Desire Z too, I guess) is much better than SGS. I had both these phones (actually, it was a Milestone 1 ) in my hands and SGS didn't feel bad, I didn't even feel the plastic at the back and around the screen.
Talking about UI, I really like the new Motoblur (though it seems to be a bit laggy), Sense is on second place and TouchWiz is awful.
The next issue is the locked bootloader on MM2, which, I guess, is a big disadvantage.
The last thing are prices in my country: Galaxy S is the cheapest - below 600$, MM2 and Desire Z will be much more expensive, but will rather have a similar price - I guess above 700$ (I personally think that it's a bit much for a phone, unless it's really worth it).
All in all, I've been reading many reviews and watching many videos of these phones and I really don't know what to choose! So this topic can seem to be a bit chaotic, but so is my mind...
I think that the main dilemma is whether to choose a better quality with QWERTY keyboard but bigger, heavier, more expensive and with a smaller and worse screen or a bit worse quality and no QWERTY keyboard but with a bigger and better screen - any ideas? I have still time to decide though, Desire Z will be released (hopefully) this month but Milestone 2 can come even in the beginning of the next year.
I'd like this topic to be a loose discussion which hopefully helps me. It would be really great to hear from someone who had both Galaxy S and Droid 2.
Thanks in advance for any advices!
That Motorola Droid 2 R2-D2 edition looks cool ;-)
So, I'm looking for the smallest Android smartphone ever produced.
Conditions:
1. It must be a phone.
2. It must be compatible with an American carrier.
3. It would preferable to have physical buttons, however, this is not a mandatory requirement.
What would it be?
~Jasecloud4
P.S. I need this for a project I'm working on...I'll explain why once I get an answer and complete the project.
Maybe Sony Ericsson X10 mini. It has smallest front surface but its quite thick. It depends what you need. If you need small physical volume of phone look for very thin phones. Also have you heard of those little Android watches? You can pair them over bluetooth with nearby Android phone. It really depends what you need.

Yeah, but the watches defeat the purpose of going small...

X10 Mini is the only phone that springs to my mind, it's incredibly small.
So here are the specs that I think you'd want. Any chance something like this exists for Verizon?
- 3.2-3.5" screen (can potentially even be the 320x480 resolution of generation 1 Android phones)
- slide-out 4-row qwerty keyboard (important that it's a good keyboard - this is VERY important to her)
- 800MHz or faster cpu
- 256-512MB RAM (I'd LIKE 512 but 256 would probably be sufficient)
- 3G/GPS/Bluetooth/non-super-crappy rear-facing camera
- I would like for it to be hackable so I can make it run faster than stock
- Cute cases available for it
- Good battery life
Hi jasecloud4
If you are looking for the smallest volume-wise, it would be Sony Xperia Ray. 3.3 inch screen (smaller screen than the iPhone 4), but as thin as the iPhone 4. Xperia mini's screen is smaller, but it is way thicker.

Yep, I wouldn't look any further than Xperia Ray. Small and very thin.
