Can't post in buy/sell forum - General Topics

Hi I wanted to post that I have a grandfathered AT&T family plan that I'm either looking to sell or give away with it being contingent that I am able to find a grand fathered Verizon 3-4 line family plan but when I go to the buy/sell forum it's telling me I can't post because I don't have 10 posts. I have more than 10 posts.
Can anyone help please.

Firstly you need 50 posts and to have been here 12 months before you can access the Marketplace.
Secondly it is being shut (may have been shut by now for all I know).
I'll try to find the original thread about it - the one you would have found if you had searched before posting
Here is is - The Marketplace is Closing!

No - XDA is washing its hands of trades entirely. Use Google would be my best suggestion as I don't understand any of the American phone plans.

As stated, No buying/selling on XDA. Best bet is to use other markets i.e. CL, eBay.
Thanks & Closed.

Why can't I access (view) marketplace?

I was wondering why I couldn't view the marketplace? I have it bookmarked so I could see it before. Thanks.
Do you have a connection to the internet?
Hey there,
New rules were implemented a little while ago as an antispam measure meaning there are now minimum requirements before "new" members can post there.
I believe there is currently a review of current market place rules not that i expect this restriction to be lifted any time soon.
Look around the forum a little more, contribute and you will then pass the minimum post and member time rules.
Cheers,

Yes I posted here right
It says I don't have user access or something, but why not? I mean whats so wrong with viewing the marketplace so I can maybe buy someone's phone or compare the priced to craigs list?
I am sorry but I just think it's rather annoying to make forums where you got to ask just to be able to see certain "sub forums" or "directories" whatever.
I was just hoping it was a mistake but nobody seems to care.
Hey there,
Dont seem to care??? Give me a break.
The rules were made for yours and our protection. Make a few more posts and spend a little more time on the forum (you are new after all) and you will be able to sell on MP!
Is it really life and death that you MUST view MP now?
If so, i have one word for you.....................EBAY!
Matter closed.
Thanks...
I did have a nice long reply posted but it seems a waste of time.
I just want to say I don't like that system. I think I should be able to view the marketplace forum. Restricted posting would suck but be ok. But hey it's not my forum so I don't get to choose these things.
But I found it dumb since every other android/PPC/Phone forum I go to allows me to atleast read the buy/sell forum. I thought it was a mistake that I couldn't here since I am registered. But I guess not.
Enjoy your class system.

I am sorry I didn't know those existed. But guess what I can't even read the marketplace rules . Here is what I get a page with this...
MasterColdSoul, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
edit:
Also my main thing was why have I lost the privilege to see the marketplace (I could see it before, now I can't). So I thought maybe it was a error.
I guess I shouldn't get upset about it. Sorry
Posts
For what it is worth, you are about a 1/4th of the way their on posts. You could always attempt to answer questions in this forum until you reach 30 posts.
Yeah I imagine I will be posting more as I try to root the phone I am buying today. It's a MyTouch 1.2 so I will be buying a 2 gig microsd in a attempt on making a gold card to root it. I know I am going to be rereading the faq's on that about 10 times before attempting since if I mess it up I will have to buy another phone .
If there is any questions I can awnser I try to. I was trying to point a another new person to the Rom Bible in the MyTouch 3G Rom section when they asked where to download roms. I also had a link to the cyro rom forum which was linked in the rom bible as a possible good rom for him to use (since I hear about it being used by people on craigslist and charging for it). But when I did I couldn't make the post because it had links it said to "outside the forum". So I removed the cyro link and tried again. It still wouldn't even let me refer to the rom bible thread in a reply with a link to it. So at that point I figuared someone could awnser who had the ability to give him a link and not just say "look at the sticky thread "rom bible"".
I will just not let it get to me and try to contribute what I can until I am able to be more helpful and also enjoy more of this forum.
Post limit is currently 5, so you should now be able to use the Mp.
PLEASE READ THE RULES OF THE MP before posting, or your thread could be closed if you do not follow the guidlines.
Good luck.

Gtab for sale

This 10 post thing seems pretty annoying
Yes, replies are counted in your post count. You don't have to start 10 threads to be able to post elsewhere.

Guys, not to be harsh, but did we really need to make yet another thread about the minimum post count?
The administrators and moderators on this forum placed the minimum post count to stop spam. If you really, really, really need access to a forum just pm a mod/admin - more than likely they will help you out of your pickle. Otherwise, just take some time and post around the forums you do have access to... just remember quality is always better than quantity.
Threads like this only encourage the minimum post count to be raised (considering the vast majority of posts are essentially trash).
this 10 post thing is really irritating
i wanted to post but for that minimum 10 posts are needed

That does suck.. theres 3...
It would be nice if devs could lift the restriction on a per-thread basis. I'm sure it's too complicated to implement.... but the OP of this thread now has a thread in the Apps forum asking for beta testers for his app.
However, since he wants the beta testers to reply to the thread in the Apps forum to sign up for the beta, it's a little frustrating to have to make 10 posts in order to reply in a thread like that.

why would we want to poke around a bunch of post that we have no interest in...
Just saying....
this is going to be the thread where people eliminate their post limits, or at least thats what i'm doing
i still think it's dumb how XDAD limits users until they have the 10 posts, and I wanted to post on a thread i have been following for a few months now.
Definitely not 10 threads!

Posting Restrictions?

Is there a posting restriction besides the 10 post counts? Says I am restricted due to having less than 10 post counts, but I clearly have over 10...
It's not an instant thing. The server periodically updates various stats, and this is one of the things taken into account then. Just wait a while and you will be able to post. Please though, tell me you're not asking a question in a development thread.
I can't even post in the Member-Found Deals section.

Since I am new, I don't know much about the marketplace. I just hope there isn't anything good there...
haist
hard to post.....
there might also be a limit for posting in development threads
It's a good idea having the post thread count.. but at the same token, it kind of sucks because my post count is soo low, but i've been reading xda all the time and enjoy all of the tools the xda members provide...
so i need to get my post comments up on useless threads just so i can give more valuable feedback on apps / roms / mods that i actually use and test.

no access to marketplace

Hi, I'm not new to these forums, but i do not do much posting here. I have a phone i'd like to sell/trade, but i can't access the marketplace. any help? this will only be my 4th post. should i just go post until i reach 10? i just didn't want to spam the forums to get my post count up
The XDA-Developers.com Marketplace, also known as MP, is provided free to members with at least 50 posts and one year of XDA membership. From here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=256
So you'll need to post a lot more

That's frustrating. I've only been a member for 8 months, I loitered for months before that reading posts in the Desire S forums
Guess I'll find another way to sell my One X.
Would not matter if you meet the requirement, read the Market rules regarding closure:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=256
And no need to post more to increase you count....again read the closure dates on the rules.
Won't matter really as the marketplace is being shut down at the end of the month
