no access to marketplace - General Topics

Hi, I'm not new to these forums, but i do not do much posting here. I have a phone i'd like to sell/trade, but i can't access the marketplace. any help? this will only be my 4th post. should i just go post until i reach 10? i just didn't want to spam the forums to get my post count up

The XDA-Developers.com Marketplace, also known as MP, is provided free to members with at least 50 posts and one year of XDA membership. From here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=256
So you'll need to post a lot more

That's frustrating. I've only been a member for 8 months, I loitered for months before that reading posts in the Desire S forums
Guess I'll find another way to sell my One X.

Would not matter if you meet the requirement, read the Market rules regarding closure:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=256
And no need to post more to increase you count....again read the closure dates on the rules.

Won't matter really as the marketplace is being shut down at the end of the month

Posting Restrictions?

Is there a posting restriction besides the 10 post counts? Says I am restricted due to having less than 10 post counts, but I clearly have over 10...
It's not an instant thing. The server periodically updates various stats, and this is one of the things taken into account then. Just wait a while and you will be able to post. Please though, tell me you're not asking a question in a development thread.
I can't even post in the Member-Found Deals section.

Starting march 10th you won't be able to access the marketplace at all for a year from the date you joined.

Since I am new, I don't know much about the marketplace. I just hope there isn't anything good there...
haist
hard to post.....
there might also be a limit for posting in development threads
It's a good idea having the post thread count.. but at the same token, it kind of sucks because my post count is soo low, but i've been reading xda all the time and enjoy all of the tools the xda members provide...
so i need to get my post comments up on useless threads just so i can give more valuable feedback on apps / roms / mods that i actually use and test.

[Q] More than 10 posts But!!!

I have been a member for years. I don't post often but read a lot. (More people should.) I have over 10 posts but I am not able to download. Is it because I haven't posted in so long? I was able to download a little over a month ago no problem but now it says I don't have 10.
When you are absolutly sure, that u only cant download from this website,
then you should contact an admin by using the contact form!

Downloads don't have postcount limit, in fact you can download while not logged in!
What are you trying to access?
Here is the link to the page and to the response that I get.
Thanks for the help so far.

hazzmatt69, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Please Read: New members (those with fewer than 10 posts) are not permitted to post to development-related forums. The developer forums are intended for experienced users and developers to discuss ways to improve technical aspects related to ROMs and Software. While you may be an expert, we ask ALL users to avoid posting questions about using or installing ROMs and software in the Development Forums. To encourage this new Users can read but not post in these forums.
To ask Questions about developing your device, installing ROMs, software and themes you must go to the Q&A or General Forum.
Remember, your question has very likely been asked already, so please search before posting.
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
Try logging out, clearing your cookies, and logging back in. You never know, might work
Maybe you are not verified???
Yeah that 10 posts thing is garbage. Lol. I read through these forums and don't really post because all my questions are answered by reading. I understand your frustration. Hopefully you get this figured out.

I've got the same problem. But the first link is useless (for you). You need to click the second link.
The first one says "Thank you." to the author.
And that seems to be forbidden for users without ten posts.
- My first post!
awww bless congratulations on your first post.
that link doesnt work for me either.

I can't yet. I don't mind. It's a good rule. Just wondering what's up.

agreed, im trying to post up a how to guide with photos for the galaxy note and it wont even let me, now ive got to make up another 6 or so nonsense posts still before im allowed, I feel like im spamming but unfortunetly its the only way!
I can understand the 10 post limit, however there should be an option to be invited by a friend or even a developer.
LOL....Not enjoying this 10 post rule but I understand it. Been reading these forums for months and finally decided I wanted to help out in some of the dev threads and learned I couldn't yet. I remember what it was like being a noob so have some patience for it. But happy to be a part of this community!

Congrats on #10! This post will probably be deleted now. hahaha!
Annoying
The first 10 posts r really annoying!
i dont have 10
I somehow agree...
Well, all the forums are affected by a strange epidemic problem: Noobs that start to post few things like "I like it" just see their counter going up.
I am a new "NOOB" here too and this is my second post but all I wanted to do is to give a feedback to one developer about a ViewPad7 ROM I downloaded from here two weeks ago. It was not one of the classic "Please I need this function working on my VP7". It's a valid feedback with some advices but I cannot.
So I believe that sending a PM to a developer and then developer sending you an invitation to take active part to a discussion.. will be a nice feature.
Same for me but I am new.
Been trying to get permissions to post in the dev forums, to be frank, the main reason i registered as its what xdadev is renowned for.
Got more than 10 posts, not really being GIVEN a reason, per se, that explains why I cant post yet
It's a good idea though, but if I meet the freaking criteria, it should be letting me in!
Yeah I get it for new comers that just want a quick fix without searching the forums and doing their homework and for spam. I can donate on a dev site but can't post? What gives.

Glad I'm not the only one frustrated beyond believe with this STUPID, I'm gonna say it again IDIOTIC rule. I get it, we don't need NooBs spamming the forum and I respect XDA immensely but for the sake of everything that's sweet and evil I can't even express my gratitude to my precious Devs for the hard work they did on the ROM I have been using for months now :/ Yes, I can hit the thanks button, I can donate but still I want to voice my excitement! Now, I'm done venting and apologize for spamming. Android FTW!

I don't see what the issue is... I once made 100 (useful) posts in 2 days. I don't see how 10 is a problem

Would like to contribute for Nokia Lumia 800 update

Well hello!
I'm a new registered member on XDA but surely not new to XDA developers.
I've read the request of wiresharking the latest Nokia Lumia 800 update to retrieve the dutch update cab. So people can overwrite the Singapore update.
I'm a Nokia Lumia 800 user and I pursaided my wife to buy the white one! So before updating I swinged on wireshark to capture the http.requests.
I would love to contribute the wireshark log to the following topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379508
But since I have a 10 post 'no-nonsens' treshold I cannot reply to this topic. So lets cut a deal, XDA removes my treshold and I contribute the wireshark log?!
and so, after 3 weeks my topic is all alone. Can some please get rid of it cause clearly, its not in the right place. You peeps dont read and most certainly dont reply at it. I had a link to the dutch firmware I thought people would want XDA to embed this in Cabsender, clearly I was wrong. Mybad /delete

Hey man just continue posting 10 posts is not hard to do. I've been with XDA not more than a week and I have more than 10 posts already. I just kept participating in discussions, like "what's the best tablet under $200?". XDA mods are busy managing the site/forums and don't really read all posts.
Alright! Can you imagine its frustrating? Coming from another community were the rules aren't so childish I think it just plane stupid.
10 post treshold to post somewhere
8 post treshold to post external links
But no worries if you want to post a quick-go-for-the-easy-answer 'topic'.
They are worried people try to spam or something when they register, but there's no quality control on the topics. Half the people I have replied to with questions to get my 10 helpfull post have never even used the search or dont appear to me in that way.
No let us worrie about the 10 post treshold, that's a good rule to keep the no'no's away!
And i'm a new member too . Guess what ? , i'd rather have this rule than other community rules . Whereby that they have you to post a minimum of 20+ posts in order to access the threads . And i don't agree with you , we're suppose to follow the XDA rule and , do not change the topic .
As most people here seem to use android it might just be you need to post this in a wp7 or nokia sub forum as its more likely to be read there.
It's not anyone not being interested in your topic but more likely that the people who would find it of use may not notice it here.

Dave, I agree. First of all it was wrong to post this topic in the general discussion. However seen the importance of the matter that was created by the request. I thought that someone would notice that I was willing to contribute to the topic.
After receiving my 10th post, I could finally reply in the concerning topic and I'm now in a conversation with the targetted person. So things are ok now.
As far as I'm concerned this topic can be trashed/deleter/closed.

Marketplace?

Hi,
I've been a member here for two years but, as shown by my post count, did more reading than posting. Anyways, I've been trying to access the XDA Marketplace and, after searching for threads started by people with the same problem as me, have learned one can gain access after contributing to forums. Can anyone specify? Is there a minimum post count or do I have to wait for a moderator to permit my account to gain access to marketplace? Thanks!

You need at least fifty posts and a year's membership to be able to access the Marketplace. For someone who "did more reading than posting" you obviously didn't read the rules and guidelines of XDA
It looks even more suspicious given that you have been a member for over two years, yet never even contributed with a single post until the last three hours.

[Q] i cant reply

where do we supposed to reply in this forum? if we make a new thread here, they will closed it. if we reply to the topic that we needed, we are not allowed. what will we do here?

You need to fulfill the 10 post rule first. Most threads are development threads, therefore new members are not allowed to post until the 10 post minimum is met. This doesn't mean go and make 10 spam/junk/worthless posts either. Someone is always watching for this kind of behaviour.
zerovirusity said:
to all members here, although we are newbies here, we are aware of the rules in this forum because i am also a member in some forums. i hope you will considerate us. we chose to be a member here because this forum has a lot of things that we needed and some answers for our questions. if that's the case that we need to post 10 or more than posts, then please allow us here to post. don't closed it first until we reach 10 posts.

Threads are only closed for irrelevant posts/spam. Make a worthwhile post and it won't be deleted/locked/removed. Pretty simple really. Everyone needs to bear in mind that this forum is intended for developers. Which 90% or better of you are not.
There are already plenty of threads that discuss this topic, so we don't need a new once (hence the closure).
One of my favourite reasons for the 10 post rule is that it encourages most users (the less spammy and needy ones) to spend more time reading than trying to post in development forums. If you do spend enough time reading you find that 99% of your questions have already been answered, and you learn a hell of a lot and start being able to answer questions yourself. That's a great way to take part in the community as a contributing member. In fairness, if you come here to leech and not participate then you're not adding anything to the forum.
Anyway, if you want more info then see the link in my signature about 10 posts - that should answer more questions
