[Q] Nexus S never received OTA jelly bean - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I recently switched back to my Nexus S only to realise that it never recieved the OTA for Jelly Bean. Ive tried the google services framwork method, and had no luck. Ive seen the manual method but have not tried it because I am not experienced at all with flashing and so on. Is there another way of recieving the update? And if not could someone provide a detailed way of flashing the official manual update? Thanks.

i9023 - OTA on Jailbroken Phone fix?

Hi there,
I'm having a little trouble with my phone.
I originally updated and rooted my Nexus S to Android 4.0.3 back in March, however due to stupidity, I updated my phone with the Vodafone AU OTA update which was released a few weeks ago.
So my question is:
Can I update and root my Nexus S to Jelly Bean? If so, how can I do it?
Also, are there any dangers with doing so? (Root - OTA - Root again)
The tools I used were found on the Nexus S Hacks site.
Any help would be appreciated
James
I just got a System Update notification for Jelly Bean. Not sure if I should go for it.
Can anyone please give some advice on how I can re-root my Nexus S
Really need some now guys

I haven't tried this, but why not give it a shot? go to superuser app and look for an option to keep root after OTA, it may/may not keep root, but if it doesn't work, just follow the post above. good luck!

[Q] Rooting the safe way

Hey folks..
i bought a TF300T a couple of weeks ago which i updated to Jelly bean so i was not able to root it ..
Now i got it switched to a new tablet because it was " DOA ".. so that was pretty lucky..
Now i have the TF300T with ICS and the Jelly bean update waiting for me..
Anyhow, this time i want to root this thing and install custom roms on it..
Problem is i cant find a guide nor anything on how to root it and update it to jelly bean and still keep root / CWM..
the only guide i found was one done with the US update..
Can anyone give me a guideline to where i should start?
EDIT: Do i have to unlock my bootloader to root?

Ok, When you say that you can't find anything on how to root, or guidelines and etc...
It's false, cause I think that you haven't really search on this specific forum.
On first, click on my sig (the Index for the TF300T/TG) and you will find all you need.
and finally you need to search and read a little. It's easy to post a question, you wait that a kindly person could give you some answer.
if you want to root without JB, don't open your wifi, for stop update by OTA
After unlock your tf300
and use NVFLASH on final

[Q] Update Issue

Hi guys. Sorry if this has been covered already, I'm sure that others may have had this problem too.
The issue I am facing is with my Samsung Galaxy S3. I am running on 4.0.4 which I rooted with Heimdall Frontend 1.3 on my Mac.
I am a novice with the whole rooting thing so I am a bit confused. I am at the moment living in Australia, my mobile is an unbranded phone which I bought on contract in the UK on Vodafone and am now using it here on Optus mobile.
I had a firmware update sent through tonight which I downloaded over the air, the download completed and so I proceeded to update. The update failed after only a few seconds directing me to the rooted firmware bios.
So where do I go from here? I would like Jelly Bean on my mobile but I seem to not be able to get it because of the root I guess. I'm thinking I may have to use SU to unroot the mobile and install the update but is there a better way and is Jelly Bean rootable yet?
Sorry if I'm a pain in the ass

[Q] gps not working since upgraded to jb 4.1.1.

Hi everbody,
It's my first post on this forum, hope that someone can help me. I have a htc one s with the 1.5 processor.
It is branded by TIM(italy). First when i bought it, i wanted the stock rom, so my brother tried to install it for me but he did not succeed.
Though he managed to unlock the bootloader.
A week ago i updated the soft to jb 4.1.1. Since then, the gps is not working(maps, facebook, weather, etc). I tried gps fix from play store, but was efficient for a few hours, then nothing. I've talked to the customer service from htc, and they told me that this is happening because i made the update to jelly bean with the unlocked bootloader.
First of all, can i make a downgrade ? Or can i debrand the phone ? And in both of cases, will the gps work ?
I also heard about a patch that will fix the gps ...
Thanks !

[Q] New Firmware for 4.4?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone knew if the firmware for 4.4 KitKat was available yet? I had an incident where I had my phone rooted on 4.2.2 before the OTA update to 4.4 rolled out and I accidentally accepted the OTA, accidentally soft bricking my phone. Long story short, I now have to manually update every time an update comes out. I've been using sbf.droid-developers.or g, but they don't have it yet. If anyone knows where I could find the package, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
Look in the general forum. A couple of threads have links.
