Hello,
Just wanted to post this so others know where and what we can do with our custom roms on XDA Developer's. It seems that some of the dev's seem to think that we are not allowed to include GAPPS in our custom roms. This is a FALSE statement. GOOGLE asked CM and others not to include them but as third party developers we were not told and have not been asked not to do so. Here is an excerpt from Forum Moderator noellenchris
"Concerning GAPPS: CM and some other were asked by google to NOT include them. But only those parties. Everyone else can include them unless asked by the owner (ie Google) to remove them.
This also means in theory that everyone with a CM kang can include GAPPS, however most people don't (which is obviously fine too)
I don't think any OEM ROM was ever forced to remove GAPPS.

As far as i know this forum do not support piracy so we are not allowed to answer about paid apps.
CUSTOM ROMS will allow you to install homebrew apps by downloading .XAP files from programmers here or using 7marketplace, this APP will download from marketplace the .xaps for you to install them on the phone but it will download the freeapps thats why it is allowed here.
Custom ROMs are not at all like jailbreaking an iPhone - they're more akin to installing CyanogenMOD on an Android phone (gives new features, gets around stupid carrier restrictions or delays, etc.). In fact, it's exactly like doing that; CyanogenMOD is just a custom ROM itself.
If your goal is pirating apps, GTFO - some of us are legit developers too. At least read the damn forum rules before posting, OK?
Hi all,
I have the 4.3 Locked Bootloader RUCML1
First mistake I did was accepting the OTA.
But the 2nd biggest mistake of my life was, installing ALLIANCE ROM.
This is the worst ROM. No Support.
IT IS FULL OF PROBLEMS.
I repeat, this ROM is full of Problems. Basic features like MAKING CALLS AND CONNECTING TO WIFI also doesnot work.
I downloaded, and followed every rule more than 5 times, and this my experience.
This is my sincere suggestion for people like me, to go for another ROM but not for Alliance ROM.
This is the most useless ROM for 4.3 Locked Bootloader.
NOTE : This is my personal Experience. Even after reading this, You want to try Alliance ROM, then its upto You.
I don't work for any company. I want to share my experience with fellow, xda users.
No intention to start a Fight or argument. Just to help fellow Americans.
Thank You and Peace.
If you were that stupid and do all things you did, then don't blame the rom. That rom is just fine. blame yourself and your stupidity.

I've used this rom several times with no issues. No issues that aren't on any other TW based rom. So please don't blame the rom. It's one of the best and most customizable TW rom's out there along with MOAR and Wicked.. Research Read, then re-read, then research more and then search and read some more.. if you can't find an answer most are polite enough to answer as long as you ask and do you homework first..
So you installed the rom and most likely didn't flash the proper modules and/or modems because you don't know what you're doing and is the roms fault?
You know name calling isn't allowed here but I really want to, it's just this thread and your mistakes are so stupid that it's almost worth it. You obviously failed to follow the directions, in fact a simple search of your issues in the forums would point you to a fix (of something that's not broken) flash your appropriate module and radio and see if you still have the same issues. Another thing, just because you showed up 3 years after the rom came out doesn't mean it isn't supported, you showed up 3 years too late my friend, it had tons of support from a bunch of amazing devz. Peace out you weird not nice person.
This kind of thing isn't tolerated here, disrespecting other members and their work...
Thousands of downloads, one thread about issues that could have been avoided.
There is inherent risk ANY time you decide to flash something. There are disclaimers, instructions and recovery options throughout the op of every rom thread.
Consider this a one and only warning about this type of behavior. Thread closed.
Hi,
with due regards to all the hard work this forum members have put in creating and maintaining ROMs, one question popped up :
can we trust them?
would it be possible for someone building a custom ROM to place a script on the installation zip that transmits user data or credentials to the ROM maker? Who checks the authenticity of the ROM? Is there a check done before someone is allowed to release their ROM?
asking these, coz most of my banking and financial apps would be installed on android phone flashed with a custom rom.
please guide.
That's a good question. And the simple answer is that if you want to use the rom you'll have to trust them. There is no formal review process. This forum is self policed. However, there are a lot of smart and honest people here and if someone finds something funny going on in the rom it will be reported in the rom thread. That's not good advertising for the rom developer(s). In my years on XDA I've only seen that once, maybe twice.
So I saw an user who edited other Dev's ROMs (he adds a few build.prop tweaks and some other tweaks and a custom kernel to the ROMs) and reposts them (Gives proper credits). I don't have any problems with that, just wanted to know whether it's allowed ?

It's more than likely fine as long as credit is given. If you are still unsure you can report the post so moderators can take a look.
It depends on if the person got permission to use the roms as a base. If not then, no it's not allowed.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-910T) that I haven't used for some time. I want to install a custom ROM. I have already rooted it and installed a custom recovery. HERE'S the problem. No matter where I look I can not find a list of ROMS for this phone. I thought XDA-developers was the go to place for every custom ROM. I thought there was a way to search for ROMS for my specific device. No matter what, I can not find a place where I can search for "Samsun Galaxy Nore 4 (SM-910T)" and find a list of everything available. Like I said, I am a complete idoit. Please help.
Thankyou,
(idiot) Jim.

Isn't this a forum for your device? https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/galaxy-note-4-android-development-snapdragon.3690/
I just did a quick search, I don't own this device so please make sure before you proceed

I haven't installed a custom ROM in about 6 years and I have only done it once. I seem to recall a LONG list of phones that you would search through for your device. THis site must have changed since then because I am not finding what I am looking for.. Isn't there a download page SOMEWHERE?

Well I don't know what you are looking for actually, but the third link in this forum directs you to the most recognized custom rom in the market - LineageOS. Maybe this is something for you to try. Just make sure this is the correct ROM for your device and read the instructions carefully before proceeding.
And yea, the site could have changed since 6 years ago... I'm here only for a 3,5

I thought there was a download page where every device was listed. I don't want to read about ROMS in the forum. I am looking for a list of ROMS for Download. I don't want to search through countless posts about all kinds of stuff. WHERE IS THE DOWNLOAD PAGE? Looks like the hardest thing about installing a custom ROM is actually finding it.

I think you have had some expectations, and XDA doesn't work like that (at least not now). For each device there is a separate forum, and under that forum you can find threads with ROMs, kernels, recoveries and other stuff. In each thread usually you can find download links along with the instructions on how to proceed with installation. So if you are really interested with installing custom ROM, you have to make the effort of searching and reading. There is no easy way, otherwise you can screw your device for good. Please take this into consideration

Thanks for the information. Sorry, I'm just frustrated.
@burbankjim Thread closed as duplicate of the below linked thread and also because posted in the wrong device forum. This forum is the one of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and not of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
I am a complete IDIOT (please help, if possible!)
