I jumped for joy earlier today when i hopped right onto XDA to do my usual look around the forums for the skyrocket. And right infront of me were the words "ICS for SKYROCKET"
I quickly Downloaded the file and went on my way to wait for my phone to be brought back to me...only to figure out that Rogers users were left out in all this fun and joy
To my understanding, hardware is all the same...
What could possibly be done?
Is it best we wait for a work around or have someone create a custom ROM.
(Sorry guys, im new to this whole kernel/rom/rooting thing )
I think we just gotta stick together and wait it out for silver to get his ICS CWM flashable zip working.
Once that happens... do I need to say it?
hahaha i just read the thread that you referred to...reading that just got my heart pumping. Im so anxious!!
If it works, its another reason to sell my customers on the S2

LOL IKR, I was looking forward to using odin3 last night and my dreams got shattered
Can't wait for Silver to get this live for us. I will proally donate too.
weeeeeee
it looks like he has to do a little more work on it but I'm sure it will be ready tomorrow. I was waiting for him to finish it but I got impatient so I just used the Odin one. Hopefully everyone on Rogers gets ics soon I know how I would be if I was in that position

How are you liking it so far?
I love it so far. I had to do a factory data reset but after that it works flawlessly. The only thing that doesn't want to work is google wallet
still nothing for rogers users
Guys, be patient.
Silver's working as much as he can. It's only been a day.
and why can't we use odin to install this rom?

Check the development forum. There's one rooted ROM for ICS posted that may be worth trying and another one upcoming.
It will come buddy just wait.

Is it just like the leak and can be installed through rom manager over GB?
None work. They all have the most ridiculous lag and everything FCs. Takes like 5 mins to click something. I've flashed em all. The only one that boots up nice is the one in the t989 forum but nothing works (no data etc) so we dont have it
how about this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1567817

It's more than bearable. Very smooth, the bugs that it has seem to be in line with the bugs in the AT&T Odin install. Can't confirm LTE as I don't have it in my area yet.

If you're having trouble with WiFi becoming sluggish, it may be as simple as needing to delete your wifi data.
Navigate, in Root Explorer (or any capable of accessing /data) to /data/misc. Now, either delete the /data/misc/wifi folder entirely, or if you're being anal, you can rename it to something like 'backup_wifi'.
Reboot. On this startup, your phone will rebuild the wifi data, and if you're lucky, everything will be back up to speed. It helped out with my issues after flashing a few ROMs. Sometimes that stuff can get corrupted, as I can attest to with my HP Touchpad countless times. Once you're satisfied with the result, you can delete the old folder, if you chose to rename it instead of deleting it.
Anyways, post your results if you try it.
Weird how so many people are having bad WiFi and I'm not. It might be because I'm on the newest T-Mobile stock Rom.

The only trouble I've had is with non-stock ROMs, such as UTB and Black Dragon. I think a lot of those with issues may be doing the same.
I have had the wifi signal drop on my previous HTC one S handset

Can you port your baseband version, which indicates radio version I think. It can be found in software information->more.

I think this is software related, I get the bad signal, But i know my phone isnt faulty...
Waiting eagerly for an update.

Yes, it could be a solution cos at work with better WiFi router working on 802.11n my phone connects to it all the time without problem but at home my one I believe does not work on n so it may cause the WiFi issue.
However, I still think this is a software problem cos my old incredible s worked flawlessly both at work and home so the radio must playing a role here.

OK, quote myself, there might be something wrong with what I said about Radio and Wifi, there might be no connection between these two. I read some other forums someone suggested Radio has nothing to do with wifi....
Sorry for the confusion, could any one who is familiar with Radio in Android comment on this? If there is indeed no link between these two, we might need to think other things which cause the Wifi problem.
My bad, should have done more research rather than just pointing to Radio which appeared on top of my head when thinking about the problem.

Guys, let's try to stay on topic a bit. This thread has been quasi-hijacked. I posted this because I want to know if others are able to fix their problems by using my fix method. 2 Pages of posts now and not a single person has bothered to say whether they tried my method, much less their results. It's turned into a debate about wifi in general.

Ha, dude, I hear ya. I've had the exact same problem. Only phone I got that was well supported was teh original Motorola Droid. Since then, it was Droid Charge, which was ignored by everything, HTC Rezound, which had decent enough support, but nothing great, and now this thing. I just can't get a break.

the k3 radio should be rolling out in the jellybean update today OTA. maybe wait and see how it is. if you are not opposed to rooting and unlocking the bootloader then i highly recommend cleanrom.
Motorola is a great phone for reception, probably the best imo.
Regardless of the radio on a GS3, it simply doesn't get the same reception some Motorola and Apple phones get... At my house, with the newest radio, I have to go outside in one particular area and stand still to make a call. With my old Droid 2 and my iPhone 4S I could easily walk around, inside and outside and keep a phone call with minimal issues.
The new radio helped mind you, i'm not out of signal 30% of the time now.... but it's still not quite there.
It's different for everyone. I get the same as my HTC incredible. I tested and compared before and after. Like others have said, maybe a different modem will help.

As someone has said, it is different for everyone. At my office everyone has Android except 1 person. The iphone user struggles with signal there while the majority of Android users have a fairly strong signal, including me with both of my S3's. One is stock, one is CleanRom.

Motorolas tend to bre a bit better based on my experience (and looking at signal strengths, data spedd, etc...). But I really like this phone and I'm in a decent enough signal area for this not to be a factor. My wifes iPhone is actually a bit worse than my S3.
Should've seen the Galaxy Nexus... That phone was horrible. I thin it's a Samsung thing.

This has been established for 3 years lol. Samsung makes the most feature rich phone but just doesn't do the best radios. My wife's does better than her nexus did, but still worse than my rezound with my radio combination in her terrible service area. But, it still is the best Samsung she has had as far as reception on a Samsung goes... In her ****ty service area.

Wait a few hours and call back. I tried the keep calling back thing when I was trying to get my upgrade moved up 1 week so I could get the SGS3 and they started saying when I asked about an early upgrade that since I wanted the GS3 they couldn't do it and then started saying no to an early upgrade.
I'm right there with the OP on the terrible reception. I've had Samsung phones before and they all were bad compared to Moto, but the GS3 is the worst I have had. I never had the Nexus so I don't know how bad it was but this is terrible. I constantly have to move my phone around and around and hit resend at least 5 times for every text. Phone calls rarely happen because they just won't come through. I find out after I leave the house that someone had called and left a message. If I make a call I have to walk around in my yard until it finally picks up a signal. Its very very sad that this phone has such ****ty reception because its such a great phone.
OP, if you want to switch wait until the evening shift and call until you get someone extremely friendly. That's what's always worked best when I have had a problem with anything. Any time I have called in the middle of the day for anything they are always assholes and don't really care what your problem is.

I just got back from visiting my mom down in Cochran. I live in Warner Robins and in Cochran my wife's gs3 had kicked to 3g at 600 kb dl speeds and on my rezound with my radio layout I was still able to pull 6 mb dl on 4g. I was able to maintain 4g. I also had 3 bars of service and 4g and in the house she had 1 bar of service and 0 data. Just signal for a call or text.
Basically it was such a large difference that my parents, as much as they like the gs3, will not even be able to buy one due to signal alone. They are gonna try out some razr hds possibly next week so next time I'm down I fan kinda get a better comparison seeing as how my rezound is far from stock lol. Wife's gs3 is bone stock no root ota jellybean
Hi all,
My daughter's Infuse 4g was having issues (wouldn't turn on, and if it did, wouldn't stay on) while she was at college. She took it to the AT&T store and they told her she needed a new phone. We purchased one, but when she got her Infuse 4g home, I was able to get it working again.
Anyway, now I have an Infuse. We have four kids so from time to time we need a 'backup' phone. This would make a good backup phone. It is completely stock and unrooted.
I'm debating on trying to get CM11 on it. I see there is an unofficial release. However, I know nothing about the history of the Infuse, how easy it is to brick, how easy it is to unbrick etc.
So, should I just leave this phone "as is" or work to get CM 11 on it? I'm currently reading through some of the forum threads, but if there are issues putting roms on this phone, it would be nice to know before I put a lot of time in on it.
Any opinions?
Thanks!!!

It's actually easy to "brick" the Infuse, all you do is break the USB charging port, I have a lot of experience with Galaxy S devices and they all have poor USB port durability especially when it come to water damage, so that's one thing to watch out.
Personally, I recommend using CM9 on the Infuse. CM11 roms to me are still buggy and the performance isn't very good. Beanstalk rom does a pretty good job, but for now there are still slow down issues and poor Webkit performance. So far I get very good stability and performance with CM9.
Here is a guide I wrote on root, flash and restore the Infuse, it's pretty easy: http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-...m-recovery-kitkat-factory-restore-infuse.html
You can sim unlock this device too which is easy also: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081072
