Froyo plays well with others!!!

I flashed froyo on top of an already set up 1.6 and 2.1 rom's (seperately) and well it went well. booted right up. still had all my apps. whole point of this...I dunno its fun. I got to play with some of my apps. no Google apps carried over. super user was also gone. root explorer wouldnt
open. I was going to install su so I could oc. but root explorer was fc. most of my apps opened and functioned properly, except for no data connection. but I was able to call my boss and hang up on her. maybe a developer can do something with this info. this was sent after restoring back from froyo

Wow, FroYo can call AND HANG UP ON PEOPLE?! I must flash it at once.

yeah you would think that function would have been available in 2.1 and lower. I still don't think the iphone has that. they have to talk to everyone they call.

Sounds to me like you'll be selling that iPohne, and using that free-service SIM in your N1 AT&T

yeah, i "found" a build of froyo numbered 13, and minus the wifi, bluetooth, camera, root, live wallpapers its a nice quick app! all the stuff i said is not working in this build, but it appears the makers are working on that stuff at an alarming pace, and later this week it will be going in full swing. Yes, in this version, Gapps works

kingfroyo can you post the verison of it for everyone to test?

What iPhone does have is the ability to drop calls and call distortion. It's something that most android phones will never experience...

I flashed the jmod Froyo and couldn't get it to recognize the sd card or establish a data connection. If you have one that does all that, apps, google apps AND hangs up on ppl I would love to have a link to dl it. Thanks!

Lol its all good i flashed after wiping, and NO BRICK haha he has GApps working but there are still a lot of bugs but TONS of progress since the first SDK port.

booted right up for me did a full wipe!!! apps open up pretty fast overall smooth one thing had like 7mb of memory .. i timed 1:56 boot !!!

didnt work for me at all, i went to flash it, and it said error, bad
edit: my bad, flashed something else.

Looks like infuse is still getting GB

So I asked att on fb if infuse will still get 2.3. They told me they are very excited for the GB update for the infuse but don't have a time frame for it. Hey there's still hope. Lol.

of coarse it is. probably around christmas. halloween if we are really lucky. he sgs2 comes out at the end of the month according to my local reps. the gb update will likely follow that by a few weeks. that's my prediction.

yea it sucks the update is pushed back so far but no chance they will do anything to mess with the sgs2 release

I am one who appreciates the thread and talk of the Infuse GB update. I had expected the GB update in Aug. like all of the other 2011 phones received. I returned my Infuse for refund due to the GB update not coming through. And I loved my Infuse. It was buggy as hell, but was a superior phone in every other way...especially music playing. As soon as the update happens...if it happens...I might just get another Infuse.
I think the Infuse will turn out to be the better phone between it and the SGS2. The screen is larger, the battery is larger and the other specs are pretty much the same. The SGS2 has NFC. But I can live without that. I see no use in a dual core. Both phones have a FFC.

When I got my captivate last year(first day of release) I waited for the froyo update for ever. It was supposed to come out in Sept. but got delayed until halloween or X-mas. I had already switched to Andromeda(prob best Cappy rom ever). I lost my cappy and got an Infuse with the insurance. So far a much better phone, but I dought that we'll get an update anytime soon. Samsung is not very good with updates and at&t well they are probabably just as bad. Actually more like Apple.
Now Asus has been great with updating the Transformer.
Anyway would love to see GB but meanwhile gotten find a rom that I like.

Samsung has already built gingerbread for the Infuse, hence the Rogers base roms we're enjoying currently. The fault lies fully with AT&T, not Samsung...

that actually may not be true....one of my sources at Samsung claims they have nothing lined up for release to ATT until around Christmas

Ok guys let's not play this same old tune. With some research one can find that both ATT and Samsung suck at giving updates mainly when a New phone is coming out. So all one can do is sit back and wait or flash a custom Rom.

Its useless because everyone knows the infuse will get updated to GB. And no one knows when that will be. No new news has been released since it was announced; nothing has changed. I have to look at the thread because you posted it and now its on the list of threads cluttering up this forum. That's why its useless. you haven't stated anything we don't already know

I was and have always been under the impression that MIUI didn't require GApps..? The ability to log into a Google account is built-in, and the ROM comes with Gmail.
I have noticed that Jeff stopped updating the ROM on MIUI.us. I can continue updating the ROM there if needed, but I'd rather have someone else take it over since I have recently left Sprint and their crappy data speeds.

I have sprint until next month but I have no way of testing. I'm rocking the OG Razr powered by Sprint on the NOW network haha. I'll keep this up to date for you and the community.

No need! I have not stopped, just waiting for a stable ICS build to port instead. There have been minor changes that don't really effect us, so I haven't been porting weekly.

So I'm going to apologize for the stupid question ahead of time, I promise I'm usually not this slow on Mondays. But quick question.. I have a 3G symbol (I think I understand the meaning of that), a signal bar with a E, and a signal bar with a 1X.....
What are all the signal bars for?

1x is not 3g..what you get when 3g is not available..like sending msgs and phone calls..
if im not wrong...e represents edge and h is hspda

It is that way because China made a lot of changes go the cdma code. Everything works besides how the signal is shown

Should of probably mentioned this earlier in the week but i’ve been exceptionally busy with work.
Due to the new year in China there will be no development ROM this week for MIUI. Normal development will resume in the coming days following from the weekend.
Please dont spam the comments with ‘Please port my phone’ type questions or otherwise. They will be deleted.
We hope everyone has a great weekend and we’ll be back in next week with a nice new update and hopefully some more exciting news on ICS and other developments we’ve been aware of by Xiaomi.

this one might not lol i dont have a phone to test it so just doin what i always do...if youre free tonight around 9pm eastern time come to irc.freenode.net rom #devclass im going over porting..grab the latest miui from desire z and then the one from jefftet and ill show you what to do

The first issue I found with it is... the data connction, it won't pick up any connection unless on wifi, second when I make a phone call I can not hear anything and the person I call can't hear me either... otherwise from that it is really awesome and smooth..

That's what I'm doing. But its gunna be hard. My contract ends in one year. Ha. Well T-Mobile has the HTC one too. I also recommend u to wait fore the s3.

With the Sidekick having so many glitches and freezing Imma pass on any Samsung phone lol.I know T-Mobile is coming out with that phone also and I am not sure if it is any different then the one Sprint has.

having one crappy phone from a manufacturer doesn't really affect the quality of other phones at all. the galaxy s II is one of the best phones of the past year. the galaxy nexus is also by samsung, and is also one of the best phones around at the moment. what you should look at is the phone's category, gsII and gnexus are both high end phones, while the sidekick 4g is an entry-level device.

true. galaxy s2 and galaxy nexus were the best. probably still the best right now. but g2x is a good phone. you will have fun with it. once u get it, if it asks for a ota update, dont do it yet. there are no roms for it as of now.

its the update that LG sends out. when you get the phone, you should check your BaseBand. if its March 2012, then stay on the rom ur on. u can flash other roms, but the calling will be f'ed up

The t-mobiel rom is very stable and very good, there is no need to use modded rom, none of the modes hold a candle to this update because of the firmware, driver and baseband upgrades in this rom. I am sure mods off this stock rom will come out soon and CNG will release their updates in the next couple of months however the stock rom is the best fully functional rom thats out right now only because LG fixed fundamental firmware and driver issues this round.

Phone is great so far. So should I root the phone or not? I have 2.3.3 right now. Give me some cool ideas you guys think I should try out. Also when I go to Software Update it gives me this error. "Connection failed caused by authentication error."

Its easy. Just look up the tutorials in xda. Its just install drivers. A fail apx, update apx to the correct drivers. Flash clockwork. Then Roms. Loom it up

Motorola updated their Android software upgrade page...

...And the Photon Q is still slated to get Jelly Bean (4.1)! Though it doesn't have an estimated time like some of the other more 'popular' devices they have.

Without a time estimation other than the 'it will get it', I'd say we're looking at June/July or later.

Ha, dude, I hear ya. I've had the exact same problem. Only phone I got that was well supported was teh original Motorola Droid. Since then, it was Droid Charge, which was ignored by everything, HTC Rezound, which had decent enough support, but nothing great, and now this thing. I just can't get a break.

Still waiting for a new OTA. Have been switched back to the Evo Shift for more than a month now. I may just go with a Galaxy Note 2.

Lol, I find it kind of irksome when the carrier gets you on a 2-year contract, and then stops updating the device after 7 months. That's basically what happened to the Sidekick 4g and the My touch 4g Slide.

Just received notification as attached..did anybody receive it also? Not JB i guess..

Yep, i just got it too. It's only 8.17 MB so probably too small to be JB. Hopefully it will fix up a few things..

That's the little "overall device stability" improvement update Sprint has begun to push out.
I'm rooted, unlocked, and modified, so I won't get it. Can y'all report back on any stability improvements?

I just got a notification for an update for today too (77.8.14.XT897.Sprint.en.US)
According to the release notes it's "Various fixes and enhancements to improve overall device stability." I'm willing to be there's some other stuff in there to make it harder for us to actually *use* our phones. (like how the one from November silently broke bluetooth tethering...)

Just got the update as well.
I'm unlocked, rooted, deOdexed, & modded so I don't want it (unless anyone can confirm it won't affect any of that).
Any quick way to do away with the notice and have it not come back? Maybe edit the build.prop?
I'll peek around in the build.prop in a bit when I have time to see if anything jumps out.

Yogi that say .10 does anyone have a Zip flash-able upgrade to .14? I am getting the upgrade note, Also I know(belive) we can fastboot restore stock recovery, is there a flashable zip somewhere containing this aswell?, Thanks in advanced

Just installed here too. Verified still 4.0.4 so no JB. Nothing obvious for sure and it seems to be running the same to me.
