I'm thankful for everything I have, although I might not have much.
My Galaxy Nexus (Lilly) is doing well and even though my Nexus 7 (Mindy) is broken right now, and my laptop (Katya) is failing on me, I'm still glad I have something.
But if I somehow win, I'd for one of the AOKP developers to receive the Nexus 7. I'm not sure if AOKP counts as a developer since it's a group, but I hope we can figure something out. Happy holidays everyone!
I am thankful for aorth 's development and contribution for the Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus 7.0. Without him we would all very likely be stuck with stock. He has built many Recoveries, and builds and maintains CM ROM's( 9& 10) for just about every tab plus 7.0, incuding of course devices he does not even own. He does so with limited resources from Samsung. He is one of the nicest devs as well, not flaming n00bs, genuinely helpful, and is not interested in donations for himself.
He is a true master of Linux and an Android expert. He also develops for may other devices including Tab 7.7 and a Huawei smartphone, I think. He has made our devices literally like new devices, with all of the usual custom ROM goodies.
We should all be honored to have such a wonderful guy at XDA.
Thank You and Happy Holidays everyone.
I want to say thanks to J4N87, Otherwise known as Jan.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2229548
- I know Neither Jan, nor I live in the US, But I want there to be recognision for this developer!
Jan is a whole new Developer, as such that he has not been a rom developer for long yet.
But the impact this person has had on the rom development scene is gigantic!
The first time I noticed him as a developer was in the days of the first custom roms for the HTC One X.
He (re)made some very great mods for existing roms, such as the Advanced Power Menu and Extended Quick Settings.
Up till then this was not possible in Sense 4.
After a while of addepting his mods for bases and roms he decided it was time for something new, and more challenging.
At that moment his struggle began!
He started to develop his own rom, first alone, but not much later with a small team.
The device he developed the rom for, named Bulbasaur, was the HTC One X.
This first rom was already a breakthrough for sense 4 roms.
A HUGE amount of tweaks was included, some things never seen before were achieved.
And as the rom kept evolving, from Bulbasaur > Ivysaur > Venusaur > Charmender > Charmeleon, more functiosn kept on being added!
The roms were everytime nearly bugfree and every bug that was present would be fixed in no time!
The only complaint that kept coming back for Team PKMN, was that their name was to "childish"
Now I must make a footnote here: I really liked the PKMN name, and the "EvolutioN" idea!
But.. as always ..a great transition could not be prevented..
And Finally after a LONG wait (well, everyday waiting is long), Team Pkmn, rebranded to Team Venom and release their new ViperX Rom.
Again flabbergasting all their users, they actually managed to find some new features to implement, never seen before features on a custom sense rom!
They implemented an OTA update system which integrated PERFECTLY with the standard HTC OTA update system.
They implemented a theme engine, not only for the taskbar, but also for all sense icons, and SO much more.
And who can forget the AWESOME Venom Hub in which all these resources can be shared and downloaded!
Since then the ViperX rom has evolved with more tweaks, more skins and more awesomeness with every updated!
Ofcourse other forums noticed the awesome development for the One X..
And more and more wnated a taste of this sweet, sweet venom..
The Venom team kept expanding and today 14 devices are supported by the Viper team:
Sensation, One X, One XL, One S, Saga, Desire HD, Vivo w, Vivo, Evo LTE, Inc 4G, Vision, Rezound, and both Evo 3D's!
I have tested this rom myself on the One X, One S, Sensation and Desire Z and everytime I am astounded by the quality.
So I really want to say thanks Jan! Thanks for this awesome development!
Besides his development Jan also is a very calm and patient helper in his thread.
Even when a question ahs been answered a thousand times, he answers it again, calmly.
And I think most important, he also takes time for his (Soon to be) Wife...
P.S. I know most people will write about devs like Football, Xoom and Amarullz.. and I don't want to deny them any time in the spotlight, but I think J4N87 deserves the spotlight for once!
P.P.S Thank Jan on twitter -> https://twitter.com/j4n87
Happy Thanksgiving
My Favorite Dev have to be Mazda for my EVO 4G. I can see myself following his ROMs for a very long time. And that is refreshing because too many developers nowadays happen to be over and done with in a day or two and then left to rot in the shelves.
Thank You
Morfic, he makes good kernel... What he does is different from others. He don't rush to release a kernel, what he did is test it for few weeks, tweak that and only release that.
He is a really responsible developer out there. Willing to fix those big and share his experience with users. I'm sure he is a great developer!
I'd like to thank bruce2728 for his awesome jelly bean ROM for HTC sensation. It had led to the best experience my phone.
This is his ROM thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782009
I would have to say the developer I am most thankful for is Mijjah74. Mijjah has been a theming and deving genius since before I ever even came around on XDA. Mijjah took the time to help me as a lowly Junior Member and teach me how to run a LogCat, allowed me to leech off of him and glean as much knowledge as I could, helped me on my own development projects, taught me the basics of Dev Work, made me an official part of his team he even hooked me up with AndroidFileHost who now hosts my website. And the awesomest part? Its not just me he helps! He helps everybody he can!
Not only is Mijjah an awesome developer/themer/all-around-cool-guy, he also has become a good friend and someone I can count on. He has created an extremely loyal following and supports multiple ROM's on multiple devices.
If anyone deserves a free Nexus 7 it's him!
And I wouldn't say no to one either...
EDIT: Oh and it's his birthday today so that should be an extra point in his favor.
Randomblame
HTC hit us Inspire 4G and Desire HD users with the news that ICS will not in fact be on our devices. We petitioned, whined, and I believe one of the other community members actually cried on the forum... All was lost and we would have to sink into the GB oblivion... until our faithful devs squeezed out droplets of the ICS goodness into our devices... but one developer took it further... beyond all of our collective imagination... Randomblame created Jellytime... JB ON OUR DESIREHD/INSPIRE4G! With this amazing dev at work, there was pretty much an update each week (still going!). Our Inspire4Gs/DesireHDs are blazing fast. On behalf of the Inspire4G/DesireHD users, I would like to thank Randomblame for his amazing contributions to our community with supplying us a big finger to HTC. BTW here's his link http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=1776875
I would thank cb22 for his project to make ArchLinux running on TF300; now I can use it instead of my netbook
would have to be
Rom > ARHD - Mike1986
Kernel > Faux123
I would like to thank clemsyn for his help. I am ASUS TF700 user, and there was a problem with power of the device. I asked him to help our TF700 community, and he has made us great kernel with CPU and GPU overclock, and he did it developer style, for free.
Superkid. He develops for the Desire S, which isn't a very popular device. He was the first person to get an AOSP ROM (CM7) on our device, and eventually got it official CM support. He was the first to port MIUI to the device, and later joined MIUI.us, and helped port MIUI to a ton of devices. He was the first to get ICS on our device, and worked along with m-deejay to fix the million issues encountered. He was the first to get Jellybean (4.1) for our device. Since HTC didn't really release ICS even when JB was out, he had to work with the Andromadus team to get kernel 3 on our device, which gave performance a SERIOUS boost, sorted most of the bugs on JB, and actually made sense of project butter. This was an exceptional task, and really took a lot of skill. I don't have enough adjectives to describe how grateful I am for all his work I'm sure he would be working on 4.2, continuing his streak of 'firsts' if he wasn't with the army right now, but real life always comes first
Considering I have chosen only Samsung devices (and most of them being the international versions) I would not have enjoyed them nearly as much without the contributions of recognized developer Entropy. Seriously, that guy is everywhere and always looking out for new devices. I heard this might not be the case with my most recent Galaxy Note II purchase, but I wouldn't have enjoyed my original Note or my AT&T GSII nearly as much. Thanks Entropy!
I would have to say Gokhan Moral. The discovery of siyah kernel changed the way I think about flashing. I didnt know anything about rooting or modded roms and when I started reading about it I stumbled on siyah kernel. The stuff developers can do with code is pure magic and visiting Gokhans website has become part of my daily routine. Thank you all devs.

I second this for you.
This question is a little like asking if you like breathing better than sex. How do you choose? I've gotta choose notta for such a wide range of development and on such a cutting edge. Paranoid Android is absolutely amazing. And like many developers here it was started even though he didn't have his own HTC Evo4GLTE to work on. I would be amiss without thanking XDA for hosting and maintaining this site and encouraging this community. I will always be grateful for all the hard work and dedication to share with everyone the efforts of such talented developers.

I thank you Zohaib0001 for the wonderful ROM Xperia T style for my Arc S.
He had a new life since I put it.
And then thank the philosophy of this forum: "Who knows more, teach. Who knows less, learns". Simple. Light. Wonderful.

7510 has two camera, does'nt it? It is 7501 that has only 1 camera.

And NO realVGA and no lights on KB too.
I am trying to find this ROM but may be today it exists only in some .pdf SPEC sheet!
No answer also from ROM cookers , they are just proud of their "secret" rom in the TAG. The ATHENA forum is becoming the only "donate or nothing" forum in XDA-DEVS!
We cannot find any image of ROM :

Not sure if that was sarcasm or a true opinion, but if the latter then why don't you go and cook a 1st class stable ROM and share it with the rest for free!
I'm happy to donate to a cause which WILL produce an excellent ROM.

Is a true sarcasm, in my managing experience things like "Athena project" never worked in a long range strategy (in the INTERNET developer’s forums model). And this is happening again here IMHO.
You pay to give a device to someone, he will produce "enough" results, then he will restart doing the things he loves to do (with his own device or the most popular device).
He will do those things primarily proud to spread his name and his job around. If you would to have something new… you have just created the monster, the “pay for ROM” business model.
Here (XDA-DEVS) there is a "passion driven" business model and IMHO (I know isn't popular here) athena project gave some results in the beginning, but in the long term a delicate equilibrium was broken.
It is a simple business school lesson, too long and boring (and off topic too) to explain here, how to manage a "free" or a "managed" environment. You ask me to explain WHY and I hope I answered
who said im stopping. i just need time to beat my previous work. raise the bar again. i have some new stuff that i am trying to work on getting perfected. i believe i have solved all the problems i had that kept me from working on the rom(*knock on wood*) so you should see a result soon. though ltxda is telling me this new build isnt as fast as the vanilla build i was doing before so maybe i might work on tweaking the speed for another day.
looks like tommorow i should begin on a beta of the roms. yes people we have moved from the alpha stage to the beta. also remember im working on a vanilla and full rom at the same time and i really never did something like this. i usually do one at a time. please be patient. i am far from retired as u would call it.
target release date: first week of march(1-7) or 2nd week of march(8-14).

Yet again, you continue to have negative feedback and misunderstandings about what's going on.
Just sit back and relax. You got three GREAT ROMs from the project and at least one more is coming. If the ROMs wouldn't be so great then you wouldn't be wanting more. ;-p
Now stop being such a negative whinny and shush. ;-p
4.0 is in the works. I guess you're not reading the posts and keeping up to date huh? Becuase I personally have mentioned the coming of 4.0, I even started a post on 4.0, etc.
You're just trying to get more info than you need. Won't happen. Just wait like the rest and eventually, one day, one year...you'll get a new ROM. If that's not good enough, feel free to cook one up for the community since you have a device and let's see it. I would love to help you by testing it. I'll be here waiting.
Man you still crack me up...in a good way of course.
EDIT:
One more thing...thank you all for replying to him as well. That's what sets the Athena forum apart from all others...truly intelligent and educated people that understand. Every now and then one slips through the cracks though. Guys and gals...yes and there are gals here...on behalf of the entire team and more importantly the community....thank you for the support and encouragement and dontations to make this possible. Hell that's thanking myself since I donated a great deal of money also. We were and are all in this together. Thank you!

PK...as Project Leader I'm officially and publicly asking you to ignore correspondence from this guy. We need to focus on the project...not someone who's trying to get the inside scoop on the next great ROM. ROTFL!
YES SIR!!!
Excuse me SIR!!
I explain this again. I am just giving my honest opinion, you can agree or disagree, but I am not insulting anyone.
I am not trying to have any scoop, I disagree only to what I see here, different from the HERMES , KAISER , EXCALIBUR and WIZARD forums. I see developers communities, helping each other, and the main stream is to have news, utilities and ROM.
Here there are to many "secrets" and little knowledge sharing. May be I want only "steal" knowledge, sorry I need glasses to read, and as CEO I have people paid to do those things. My purpose isn't to have a new fantascientific ROM, is to share knowlege. And technology management is something I believe I can share. I expect the same from the others and answer like "shut up, silence and patience" or "I am the project leader and I am ordering: don't answer" isn't the one I expect from a forum.
I said, we aren't customers! And this is a "donate or nothing" model, a company-customer model that I can't agree .
May be I don't understand fully the english used here, but I don't like what I understand, and I try to say it loud!
BTW Thanks pawel62 for your answer, your are a nice person and I understand you are busy. I like you answering to technical question, as I said, isn't new ROM my target, is KNOWLEDGE, I still had the PK 3.0 ROM (now I have another one, but I can't share due to NDA)!

Going back to the topic
With regards to the rom, is there any news on the bluetooth stack?
I just managed to get my bluetooth watch working with MS BT Stack thanks to Moneytoo app and if the rom does include Widcomm instead I will have to search for a solution if any,
Thanks a lot to the team for all effort and goog work

Okay, now that you're all curious..
This thread will sum up quickly the last month of hard work, and who deserves the credit. Everyone who deserves serious rep will be in bold, anyone who deserves acknowledgement will be in italics.
- xmoo and his source release a leaked copy of the HTC Magic "system" folder.
- xda members start to frantically get the system folder to boot.
- I go on the forums and try to persuade everyone to listen to me and fail to get anyone to care.
- I decide to take it into my own hands and get that m.f. to run.
* build 4 is released (builds 1,2, and 3 were in house builds until i made the build somewhat usable.)
- barakinflorida suggests that i put open home as the default home application to give you guys a GUI.
* build 4.5 is released
- After 2 days I received an OTA update while testing the 4.5 build and manage to track down where HTC is releasing updates.
- Playing with it for a bit I ported the first successful cupcake build.
* build 5.0 is released
- Some days go by for fixing bugs and sorting stuff out.
- dream_kill shows me how the boot works on the device, and how to fix wifi/bluetooth (simply changing something from sapphire to trout).
- fnord, Darkrift, and I work out how to get apps to sd working on cupcake (cupcake uses vold instead of mountd)
* this is now at build 5.0.1
- an anonymous tipster gives me the system directory to another build based on the vodaphone magic.
- I port that over to the dream again
* G build is released
- Daproy starts building kernels for me with built in ext2 and other goodies, bringing easier apps to sd and other nice features.
- At this point everything is pretty much going pretty smooth, I got a new SPL, new radio, and cupcake is running pretty much on everyones phone. (this was my initial goal, give cupcake to the community )
some days go by...
- Dude compiles the latest cupcake build from source and uses Daproy's, and my, boot image and other pieces (refer to his thread for what exactly) to have a nice working source based build.
- HTC releases ADP 1.5
- I mod ADP 1.5 and release the "root" build.
* ADP1.5H (yes the H stands for haykuro, not HTC.)
- Daproy cooks up a multi-touch kernel for the ADP builds.
- JesusFreke helps me through my compiler troubles and builds the multitouch browser.
* ADP1.5Hr3
this is pretty much it guys. no need to argue.
Me and Dude are friends, he has been very understanding and asks my permission before using any of the parts of my builds.
This is a developers community, and open source supportive.
I want to take a second and make sure everyone understands none of what we have today would be possible if it wasn't for 4 main players.
xmoo releasing the HTC image.
me porting the image.
Daproy building those wonderful kernels.
JesusFreke lending a hand when needed.
I want to thank everyone mentioned above for all of the hard work!!!
Much Appreciated!!!!
Haykuro = greatness!!
Thanks for posting this Hayruko. Those of us that have been following from the beginning (I started with 4.5G) or close to it knew this timeline pretty well, but there seems to be some misconceptions out there now that 1.5 has exploded. Many might think this is a pointless thread, but I like that someone is finally standing up and saying that this isn't a competition between You, Dude, and JF, working fervently to have the best build, but a collaboration between you all and many other hardworking devs, to give us all the best homebrew ROMs available. I wish everyone would stop the "Which is better" or "Just wait until JF gets involved, he'll kill Hayruko's stuff" discussions, pick a build that suits them, and be happy. There's plenty of cupcakes to go around.
Definatly a big thanks to everyone. I don't know what drives some members to shun ANYONE, not just those above for optionally helping them. The idea of Open Source is to help spread knowledge from everyone to everyone. The greatest learning experience. Yourself and among countless others have helped evolve the use of Android and the G1, and there isn't a single person on this forum that shouldn't be grateful for the hard work and countless hours you've slaved to do this work on your own time.
I'm sorry we have some of the members we do here, but on behalf of those that don't wish to speak their names and hide in the darkness.
THANKYOU!!!!!
thank you guys for all the hard work u guys done for us ! XDA DEVELOPERS #1 FORUM ! GOGOGO !
That's actually an interesting build ........... well done guys (& girls?)
Love the work you bring to the community here!
There is no "I" in T-E-A-M!!

On a serious note.... Thanks to all who have contributed to the advancement of android!
You guys are all amazing. Thanks for all your hard work.
Maybe you dont understand what open source means, The whole point of android was a open source projects that would remain open and free. Any TRUE open source developer knows and understands this and does the work not to get paid, But to help out a community. Yes there is a way to make money, And yes some people are making money from their apps, But that was never the point of a open source community, People contributed for the common good of the community not to get rich... But i am a capitalist and understand the all mighty dollar...

Lol @ darkrift. Agreed w/all above. Someone recently (don't remember who) brought up how roms are cooked for other HTC phones...and the fact that there are tons of customs for those w/ unique apps for each. We should be celebrating these guys with thanks for providing each something different to the open source community.
Ps. Tehseano I like your new sig.
To all devs who participated.....
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR AWESOME WORK!!!! Thank you all for your knowledge & watermelon sized cojones (each), for flashing the first releases & being fearless of the outcome, as well as moving forward at a blazing speed. I sincerely thank you for your hard work, and for making me look cool by being the first person around that I know with a working video camera on their G1!!!!
First and foremost I would to say THANK YOU to all involved.
Second; I imagine you guys are using IRC to keep in constant contact? If not I suggest we put together a IRC room for this board so all can idle, and discuss ideas.
Thank all of you guys...loving my G1 even more...personally I don't know how much I'd like my phone if not for all the mods.
Keep up the great work.
Can't wait until you guys begin compiling 100% custom builds...muahahahhahah...one can hope.
thanks so much guys! it just cant be said enought how much your work is appreciated.. i hated my g1 like a mofo, now i cant think of having any other phone!
This is a thread for thanks to those who've shared their time and work with this community. I'd like to take this moment to name some names and say "thank you" for making my Android and Thunderbolt experience better. First, I'd like to thank Chingyo51 for his ROMs. They've been my daily driver for about 2 years starting with incredibly re-engineered. I'd also like to extend thanks to Ziggy471 for his work on the Android kernels. Much thanks to Imoseyon and Nerozehl for their work on the gingerbread kernel, and to TwistedUmbrella for making script management of the kernel features idiot-proof. I'd like to thank Team BAMF for their development which has produced tools and dividends for other devs. I'd specifically like to thank jcase and adrynalyn for the hard work they've done in rooting this device and chasing down the issues with random bricking pre-MR2. I appreciate what all of you have done and you have my respect and gratitude.
This should be a place of respect and gratitude. If you'd like to publicly thank your favorite dev, please do so! I don't see any reason this shouldn't be one of the longest threads in this forum!
However I like the idea of having a haven of nice posts and friendly people, but why do you think we have the "Thanks" button?

Very well said loonatic. My ThunderBolt has become a new hobby of mine and I have the devs to thank. I've done my best not to clog up any threads with "thanks downloading now! "
I am concerned tho with how things have been here these past few weeks. All the negativity, flaming, devs leaving. Maybe some people shouldn't take all this stuff so seriously. For me this is just a hobby..... somethin to do for fun.
Again loonatic very well said and thanks to all the devs for making my phone awesome. Not sure if you mentioned DROIDTH3ORY or LIQUID they have been doing some really great work also and seem to be the most active on XDA lately.

Indeed the "thanks"button is good, but its not the more powerful statement saying it in your own words can be. Most of us know how things have been around here and I'd just like to add some positivity. If my friend were to cook me up something like A custom ROM, I'd be thankful as hell and I would be talking about it. I'd like to think of these guys on here as friends, just the same. I don't want foul opinions or negativity on this thread. I've noticed there's plenty of other threads for that.
I do like DroidTh3ory's work. I like his thoughts on how a ROM should be set up. I tried and earlier release and ill have to go back and try a newer one. Definitely good work and a valuable contributor! Thank you for pointing that out!
Nicely stated guys. I'd just like to thank all devs out there who put their efforts into making our tbolt experience a more enjoyable. Obviously, I cannot try everything out there, but I certainly appreciate that all of them take their personal time to do these things for us!
Thank you all.

So, uh, you do know that there is an ACTUAL CM rom out, right? Those guys were all doing unofficial ports, which is awesome, but kmobs stepped up and has an alpha build out for the device (which is now listed officially on the CM forums), so the other guys stopped trying to port it...you know, cause its already done.

Both ROMS are based off of CM7.1 which is still in Alpha and source is not released. I hope they will be back up and running once CM 7.1 is out of development and source is released. Also the CM alphas are pretty darn solid, so hopefully they will progress quickly.

1) Learn to write in coherent sentences please
2) There is an OFFICIAL CM ROM out! Official CM >>>>>>>>> the rest of the CM ROMs
first off... they're upset with kmobs for using security measures to stop winzip devs from hacking up the alpha builds they were kind enough to give us in the first place.
second off... cm WILL NOT open their repos until all temporary hacks and major bugs are removed. deal with it! it's their code to do with as they wish. end users should be glad they prefer to use clean code over dirty hacks.
third off... kmobs and company have been working hard for months to bring you the alpha builds you see now. can't you see how someone coming along and hacking their work up with 7zip, throwing in some minor changes (i hope you're at least using smali), and then redistributing the work saying it's faster, cleaner, and better MIGHT SEEM A LITTLE DISRESPECTFUL to the original creators of the code?
Lastly, the cm team has no problem with people using their work, but at least have the courtesy to let them finish it before you DEMAND they give it to you to build from and keep it open source. by that i mean dont take their source, compile and build it, release a rom and then never release any source of your own. prove why your rom is improved over the original instead of just saying it is. oh and if you do improve upon it, submit it to gerrit for approval and GIVE BACK to those you take from.
sorry for the rant but demanding someone release their source before it's even finished is totally disrespectful and i couldn't just keep my mouth shut.
well first of all i write how I wana write if u wana read is really up to u buddy if not then look at another post I think the dust under the screen is were he party is at ;-) .....and I'm sure people are not DEMANDING I'm sure they are asking ....demanding and asking are 2 different things .......and all this community is about giving props and sharing hasn't it always been like that ......is not like props or proper thanks isn't given ........ but of course people will disagree cuz that's how the world goes round .....
fan boys will b fan boys ......
Sent from my Sensation using XDA App
Mmmmmm... No. What's been going on in Kmobs personal G+ feed is waaay closer to demanding than asking.
The ability to see that has nowt to do with fanboyism on either side of the issue, it's simply taking those rose-coloured glasses off and realizing that your favourite xda 'aosp from CM7' 'devs' are most likely not on this development path for the thrill of innovation, nor the joy of doing something truly useful for Android as a whole (like adding new features and such.) Nope, they're mostly in it for the length of their 'thanks meter' aka e-peen, and those clickthroughs/donations. Which means that they will certainly release roms that are based on an alpha, change a bit of ui wording here and there so they can feel justified in telling everyone that 'it's 90 percent their code', add a few half-assed tweaks that cause even more issues on top of that, and then claim it's the best, cleanest, most awesomest rom in the whole wide world.
Small wonder, then, why CM would want do a little 'brand-protection' that they are perfectly entitled to under Apache license.
But then, nowhere is it said in the big book of life that reality pills should be easy to swallow

The main difference between idevices and android devices is apple would release one product at a time and make an all powerful push for it while android has many manufacturers giving us many choices. We all like choices, yes, but we would rather have a few good choices rather than a bunch of bad ones.
No, I am not complaining. I don't have any sense of entitlement. I am only urging the devs to rethink their methods. We have some dedicated devs here, yes. But it feels to me like the devs are racing to see who could come out with the most number of ROMs in the shortest time possible. I'd rather each dev stick with their pet ROM and focus solely on that.
I have several asus transformers from asus's series. The problem that asus is facing is they came out with too many models in such a short time. Because they only have so many devs working on the software, their stock rom are still unstable. Anyone using an asus transformer knows this.
Even in the dev section of the transformer, there are devs who try to come out with a new rom every other week and there are devs who came out with one and then stick with it. The roms with a dedicated dev are way more stable than the roms that are put in place by hit-and-run devs.
I hope I am not offending anyone. It seems to me like we have too many roms. I've tried them all, and while they are great I'd rather see them ironed out even more.
Ok, you can post hate replies now.

You realize our actual recognized developers are focusing on one single rom right? All of the various roms that are ported are from what use to be called kangbangers, 7zip jockies, winrar rebels. Outside maybe erikmm the rest of our roms are created by young kids that are trying to give the community a decent amount of roms to play with. I say outside erikmm because I understand he has a aosp rom he has been working on.

I know you are going to upset some people. I agree I also would like to see things like aries done but when all people want is roms to flash that is what you will get. We have two to three actual devs working to get this stuff fixed. They are hard at it. But two or three people can only do so much especially when they have a family.
Well if you want the few good choices there are plenty of GB roms and several ICS roms, including CM9 that can be considered stable, daily drivers.
We also have a lot of roms by other devs and groups that are alpha ports. You're not obligated to flash anything that's not to your liking. As I said, we already have a lot of stable roms that people are sticking with as the sole rom that they update/release.
Is there really much else the people who port multiple roms can do to make the roms better? I mean, they all use the same kernel. What else do you want them to do with the rom? Most of them are already stable and are daily drivers.
I for one love that so many roms are being ported. If it weren't for them all we would have for ICS options is cm9 and aokp. I think you should be more grateful.

This statement is one that upsets me when this kind of thread is posted. I can and I am very grateful for what is contributed here. However I can also have a opinion that doesnt flow with the community. I dont take the original post as a ungrateful post but more uninformed. To somebody that isnt up to date what the various "teams" are it would appear There are a bunch of "devs" giving us mostly working roms. Minor things not working but very much ready for daily use. But to people that know better they realize these ported roms are just ported roms. The real development is being done and its just two or three people.
Ill break it down.
Team Acid has given us the base to build ICS based roms.
Team FAH-Q has brought us a couple built from source roms and several nice ports.
Team Unknown have brought us many ported roms.
Then there is people like jeffsf, and jt that have contributed some very important things. Jt is responsible for getting us a working build of ICS, and jeffsf got oc/uv working.
By no means am I trying to slight any of the developers and rom porters. Just would like people to understand things are being worked on and pretty much daily. Sit down, strap in and enjoy the ride. And for the love of all things android please stop telling people that should be grateful to me that is more offensive than outright insulting somebody. Because you are implying they dont appreciate anything and its clear that they are more uninformed than anything.

The reason why I say be grateful is because it seems like they're doing all they can do, porting. What else do you want them to do?
Most of the ported roms don't even have any bugs besides the cm9 bugs from the team acid kernel.

Respect the opinions of others. If all you can say is you should be grateful then really dont respond. The op stated he is grateful and just curious. Like I said originally its a matter of misinformation and misunderstanding of what is actually happening.
I don't understand what people are referring by stability here. Since leaked GB ROMs of 1 and a half year ago or maybe since having AntonX kernel, I don't remember any reboot or crashes. Actually besides battery life and TV out, to me, ICS ROMs are pretty much perfect. I think it is actually pretty clear what is the professionalism of every team in this community, I won't repeat what's been already said. To me, if someone is not satisfied or not getting what he wants he should either donate or try to make a change of his own. I try to do both, by making my contribution in translating ROMs and just lately donated to erik.
Team Acid and their friends are the solid rock on which we all (community contributors I like to call it) stand, so we need to embrace them.

No luck yet. At the moment I can get a brand new sgs4g for free from target mobile but that means a contract extension.
I tried to purchase a phone yesterday from a guy on craigslist but when I finally got around to buying my replacement sim card and asking the guy where he wanted to meet he told me he had already sold the phone. I'll keep looking today but it might not happen until the weekend.

**Disclaimer** This is my opinion and my opinion only.
A rom like cm9 or aokp that is built from source isnt what I consider a port because you have to know something to get it working. Even with acidify you need to know something to get it to work. However I can read a guide similar to the one I linked you many months ago and port a rom. Many times all it takes is some adb lolcat and google and you can fix whats wrong. If your base and port roms are working roms the only problems you should have is whats not working in the base.
I feel there is a great deal of difference between somebody that uses 7zip and adb lolcat to port a rom and somebody that spends hours at a time editing code to create these base roms for all the ports. In time if the 7zip jockey graduates to build and editing source code then good on them they have made the journey that people talk about is the reason xda exists.
