I rooted my phone using Odin and have CWM V5.8.1.3 touch installed. I am running CM10 Alpha2 and want to install Alpha 3 but the install fails and according to what I've read I need to upgrade to version CWM6011-1 skyrocket zip. CWM V5 was a tar file and CWM6011-1 is a zip file. Im assuming I cant use odin to install V6011-1. What installation method do I use? Is the V6011-1 zip flashable from the sd card? Please point me in the right direction.
Thanks
Mike

Just foe the record in case someone searches:
Install goomanager from market > open > menu > install openrecovery script
Thats for twrp open sourced based cwm.
For cwm 6.0.1.1 simply flash the downloaded zip in the current recovery like u would any rom, and when u reboot, it will be present
Hi All,
Bit of a newbie on the note, actually got it yesterday from Amazon UK. Had a play and decided to install a custom ROM.
Tried a number of methods but having no luck at all :/
ROMs tried so far are;
Omega v2.0
Revolution 4.3
So far I've installed cwm from the play store and couldn't do anything, i then tried cwm 6.0.2.8 & su which has installed but still nothing
Symptoms seem to be it loads into the installation then locks up, Left it sitting for 10 mins + with no indication of any progress. This is normally at the the option to wipe/not wipe. Note seems to lock up.
Bit confused to be honest......
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Dave.

First you do this at your own risk.
OK... I have installed Revolution HD........ The File is (Android_Revolution_HD-Note_10.1_4.3.zip)
First you need to have a micro sd card installed
Then put the (Android_Revolution_HD-Note_10.1_4.3.zip) file on the micro sd card
Then boot into CWM
I then wipe cache partion
I then wipe data/factory reset (this will erase all of your user data)
Then - install zip from sdcard
I then - choose zip from external sdcard.
I select the (Android_Revolution_HD-Note_10.1_4.3.zip) and that should be it.
NOTE: When the system re-boots it can take a good 5 - 8 minutes for the system to start up, so not to worry.
Hi,
Thanks for that, just followed your instructions to the letter.....
Its locked up again, im sat on the Welcome page with version and updated info. pressed Next and note locks up :/

Let me get this right .... your stuck on the install screen for the revolution rom install?
Are you sure you have a good download of the zip file?
Have you tried to use Mobile Odin to flash the ROM?
Also Darkmans CWM has a problem with the Aroma installer. You may need to use High on Android CWM 6.0.1.1 flash any rom that uses an Aroma Installer.
To install Omega Rom 2.0.....^
... you neet either TWRP or HighOnAndroids CWM, does not install with any CWM!
It is caused by the Aroma installer, so flash HighOnAndroids CWM and then the rom, it works.

Helped? Thnx-button would be nice.

Guys,
Thank you very much, as posted it was a problem with the version of CWM i was running. I installed HighOnAndroids CWM and install went perfectly.
Many thanks all + rep given to all who contributed :good:
Regards,
Dave.
I have a rooted S-7500, with CWM recovery 5.0.2.8 installed. I (by mistake) allowed the 'software update' option to install a system update(or something) today by mistake (I know, you should never install system updates after rooting. My bad.) Since then, the phone directly goes to the cwm recovery mode on powering on, and i am unable to do anything else
I am not very well versed with the finer details of rooting bootloader recovery n all...so pls some details with steps...if possible .
Any help whatsoever...please I will be really grateful

Thanks!!! It totally worked!
Just a clarification...now that i have got the stock rom back on my phone...am i right in saying that I have lost root access, my phone is totally back to the 'original' state, and i have lost CWM as well? Please correct me if I am wrong.
And assuming that I am correct(above), I would like to re-root my device(need to use proxydroid to surf internet over the damned proxy server!). So..can I follow the standard method, ie, can I do it the same way I had done before, or do i need to do something different now?
And once again...THANK YOU for your help! I had ended up hard bricking my previous phone, and was really scared when this happend to my aceP. You saved me!
Easy way to ROOT your SGAP
Yes by the time you flash stock rom you loss root even any custom recovery you flashed before...
but now if you want to root your SGAP again don't follow that guide again which you done before just follow this :
Download ODIN from Downloading link below (inside ODIN software folder)
Download any one recovery which you like TWRAP / CWM v5.5 (inside Custom recovery folder)
Download Root_SGAP.zip from Root folder & place that zip inside in your sd card
Click to collapse
Download Link : GALAXY Ace Plus - Basic stuff
FOR Custom_Recovery :
Open odin, be sure your system has already install drivers & if kies is there close it.
extract recovery zip
connect device to pc in download mod (vol down + power + home) & select that (recovery) .md5 file in pda section inside ODIN software
Click start & wait to reboot device
FOR ROOT :
Now boot device in CWM mod ( vol up + down + power + home)
choose zip from sd card & select Root_SGAP.zip
DONE.

you've successfully ROOT & flash custom recovery on your device by just few simple steps
Just 1 more qstn...is it necessary to apply a custom recovery before rooting? If no, is it recommended?? Because the last time i rooted, it made me put a custom recovery before rooting.

if you are going to stick on stock rom forever & only want to root device then stock recovery is ok for you...
but while dealing with custom roms, custom recoveries are smart choice.
it has lot of additional options than stock recovery.
so my opinion yes use custom recovery
Stuck in boot loop
Got stuck in boot loop after performing the steps. I was running this ROM.
Had to reinstall the ROM. I'm sure there's something I didn't understand or something I did wrong. I'd be thankful if anyone could point it out.
Thanks in advance.

If you can get into CWM can't you flash a different recovery, maybe TWRP, then flash a good ROM? I'm a fan of the OMNIROM Kit Kat 4.4.2, but there's lots to choose from.
I had trouble installing ROMs from CWM, but all that resolved with TWRP. I used 2.7.0.1 of TWRP, by the way.
Good luck, and report back.
Marc
Update to latest twrp (I prefer philz advanced recovery, myself) and try flashing again.
Oh, and if possible use a different ROM file as your download may have been corrupted.

Just download latest TWRP from Android Andi here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47970089 flash it thru your CWM, reboot into your new recovery, wipe system and flash a different ROM. Make sure you re-download whatever ROM you are going to use because as previously stated you may have gotten a bad download.

Read my last post. Use a different ROM then. There are plenty to choose from.
To be clear what you need to do is use the CWM you have to install A DIFFERENT recovery, one more compatible with a lot of the current custom ROMs. I have used TWRP so for example:
1. Boot to CWM with TWRP package on your microSD
2. Flash TWRP
3. Reboot into recovery... CWM will be gone and you will have TWRP instead
4. In Twrp Wipe caches and format system
5. Still In Twrp, Flash ROM of your choice from ROM downloaded onto your microsd
6. Reboot system and give it time.
Let us know how it goes!
Thank you everyone
Thank You Thanx a lot for helping me guys
I downloaded TWRP n then downloaded the latest version of OMNI Rom and it worked
Thnak u soo much guys

Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535083and use the Philz recovery link for your device. Once finished you can reflash your existing TWRP zip you used earlier to regain TWRP recovery if thats what you want. Or you can just leave as is and have Philz recovery as that is a very good one as well. Your choice.
You could also use the SuperSu link from here http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu and just flash that. I believe that will work just the same. I havent, but have heard it works as well
Thanx
