Nokia wireless charging works. - Nexus 4 Accessories

Just got the n4 today. My Nokia wireless charger works fine.
You can buy it at Att or Verizon or Tmobile I'm guessing.

One thing to be aware of, I tried a Nokia DT-900 at my local Verizon store. Had the same exact experience outlined here.

Yea just a little bit. No big deal

Exactly what I'm thinking. Haven't found anywhere online with them in stock though. Amazon, T-Mobile, and AT&T all list it as backordered or something similar. My corporate discount gets 25% off at Verizon, but they only have the flat one right now, sadly.

so it doesnt work? Disconnecting randomly isnt doing what its supposed to do. I dont consider it working unless it works like normal.

I bought the JBL PowerUp speaker, also made for the lumia... Same issue with disconnecting. (( I'm so frustrated.

im wondering if maybe using a high power (2-3 amp) USB adapter would make a difference.. like the ipad charger

amperage too low?
I'm hardly an engineer, but the specs say the DT-900 is only 300ma. Maybe that's causing the problem with the N4.

I tired both the Nokia puck and the JBL speakers in a Verizon store. Both had the infamous charging/not charging problem.
It's a no-go for either I'm afraid. I can assume the same for the Fatboy pillow too...

The charger works perfectly fine, you just have to make sure that the nexus 4 isn't sliding off because of the glass back. That'd what was causing it to connect/disconnect for me. Works great after I just put a piece of microfiber cloth on it before laying the phone down.

I tired it in the store including holding it still and steady in every position imaginable and I still got the charging on and off cycling of doom.
So seriously, please post photos or a video.

yes, i would love if you can prove that it works.... i can pick up a nokia charger on the cheap..
I wonder if it makes a difference that he is using the dock as opposed to the pad? Thoughts

I've seen it mentioned that the reliability of the charging depends on whether NFC is turned on or off. Think it was mentioned by someone on Engadget. Not sure how that would affect the Qi charging, but worth a shot I suppose.

Love how " Droidz" disappeared when asked to take a pic/video as proof since everyone else had experienced the disconnect/connect issue... So I call bull until he provides proof. Don't waste you time or cash until he does.

Guys, it very may work for Droidz, if you read The Verge's report you will notice that the charging issue seems to not affect ALL Nexus 4's, read below is an excerpt from The Verge's article
""The Nexus 4 and the Nokia DT-900 are supposed to properly work together," says Menno Treffers, chairman of the Wireless Power Consortium. Indeed, not everyone is having trouble pairing the Nexus 4 to the DT-900: Engadget reported success, for instance. But a single bad experience instills doubt in a standard that needs as much traction as it can get early on in the game."

There is nothing to indicate the sun was involved. If I had to guess I'd say the dock he used in conjunction with his DC power outlet malfunctioned and overloaded the phone with current. Of course it doesn't say the dock was connected to power either but that scenario is much more likely taking into account the type of damage.

DC power from the car. The article doesn't specify whether it was plugged in or even if it was parked (or did I overlook something?), just saying it could have been a rogue car charger. Hell it may have just been what you think and the SIII gets way to hot, but there are too many variables left unanswered to make a definitive assessment.
Edit: I see where he says it wasn't charging now. Who knows man. Weird place for it to overheat though.

I understand the Nexus 4 uses this chip, and the datasheet is here.
So, the receiver is about 90% efficient when charging. I am not sure, but as this is a charge controller too I think that quoted efficiency from page 12 is for the DC provided to the battery. This is quite good as obviously a non-wireless charge controller phone would have some losses when charging a battery.
I presume that by AC they mean from the wireless antenna rather than mains, so you would have to include the waste in the plug/transmitter too.
Edit: It looks like most of the losses are in the transmission, as the efficiency there is much lower. In that datasheet it suggests more like 72-74% maximum, which is about right if the manufacturers quote 70%.
Check this one out guys. Looks quite nice and seems to have a rubbery surface to prevent the phone from slipping.

Nexus 4 fits in the $5 infuse car dock!

I ordered the Infuse 4g dock from ATT for $5 shipped because it was supposedly a perfect fit for the Samsung Galaxy S3. However I sold my S3 for the Nexus.
To my pleasant surprise, the dock fits perfectly with the N4, maybe even a little snug when trying to take it back out.

It's hard to believe it fits since all the dimensions are bigger on the nexus, maybe its because of the corners being more rounded on the nexus.

There is a different type of battery case that hopefully will be made for Nexus 4's. It's technically an external battery that doubles as a case. I think that's what most of the people on this thread (including me) is looking for.

Brief PalBot speaker review

So, my brother got one of these for a gift and after hearing the little thing I couldn't not post a review. This thing has some MASSIVE sound for its size, crisp highs and lows with surprising base. It even has a separate bottom facing woofer, which is rare for this kind of speaker. Build quality is really quite good, and its nice and heavy. Very little interference and doesn't distort until you really crank it up. So, I know this isn't strictly related to the N4, but to any of you who want a small speaker, grab one of these.

I bought a similar one from CVS for $10, 1/2 off $20. Its an iHome wireless speaker and came with a nice carrying bag. Sound is decent and sounds more fuller but my n4 has the same volume. Same one here

Do you know how they would compare?

Not sure since I've never heard it, but based on the price I'd say that it would generally not sound as good. However, I live to be proven wrong on these kinds of things haha.
