and the odd thing is with this is the asop roms get close to what ics scores but every jb tw rom i have tried scores over 6000... my highest was 6550 on rls 6 jellywiz and stock kernel.
Just a note of interest, going from 4.1.2 to 4.2 on my Nexus 7 slightly lowered my Quadrant Standard scores, slightly raised my NenaMark 2.3 scores, and significantly improved my SunSpider score. Both the Quadrant and NenaMark scores appear to be within the standard deviation you'd expect from run to run compared to the 4.1.2 scores... but they're consistent and repeatable. The SunSpider was a healthy jump, so Java definitely improved. I expect this on the SG III as well...if/when we get 4.2.
Scores basically mean nothing. It's cool if the number is high and all, but it's not really anything to judge a ROM or anything on. They're just numbers. That is all I have to say

Quite the opposite, using an array of benchmark tests.... especially before and after an update... can let us accurately gauge a performance increase or decrease. Using a seat-of-the-pants "It feels smoother and faster" is too subjective. Case in point, when some show sent a man out on the street with an old iPhone and told people it was the new iPhone, everyone marveled on how much faster it was.
Benchmarks let us quantify whether an update, a ROM, or a simple tweak made a positive or negative difference.

Yes. Ktoonsez kernel. Had gov set to SLP and locked in the CPU at 1.998ghz. The 2.1ghz setting doesn't seem to do much good for me other than create instability. Actually, at the top of the pic you can see my freq at 1998mhz and to the left of that is the CPU temp.

The focus of many of the roms now are performance and smoothness. If your quadrant scores aren't that great, don't worry too much about it; as long as the phone works great. For screen grabber, try switching the file type to jpeg in settings

Phone runs smooth as butter, no issues whatsoever beyond the wifi calling bug that plagues Bali kernels.
With the stock kernel, I could only get 1300 or so OC'd to 1.44 (but i think the kernel capped at 1.3 anyways). Bali+ext4=/win

Yea I just got 2714 score on quadrant. Damn this update was very good for the device, this just proves that how fast a device is isn't just about the processor, its more of like a balance between the processor and the software. If the software is crap but the processor is the best one out there, it really doesn't help much. For instance look at the galaxy nexus, it has the hummingbird GPU not the latest exynos yet it is faster than the galaxy s 2!
So really if you think about it its not about the processor only is more about the software.

It depends.
ROMs based on the T-Mobile base won't be as fast until they incorporate what's changed in this ota update. Once they do, they'll likely end up being faster.

I've found that using setcpu and keeping ziggy's synergy kernel at 1.51 max and .384 min with the ondemand has been stellar in battery life. Those are the default kernel settings for the stock samsung kernel. Its been great for me, but its also all relative to what you consider to be "best battery life" i keep a charger at work, at home, and in my car, so my phone is always plugged in, i also keep the brightness all the way down because that seems to be bright enough for me, and i don't do much streaming since i keep all my music on my sd card. But i can easily get 3 - 4 hours of screen on time
If ziggy's kernel isn't your choice then i'd say go with imoseyons lean kernel, i used that all the time on my tbolt and it definitely improved battery life. That kernel can be found HERE he doesn't have a thread for it on xda, so you'll have to download it here.
Oh and if you do try out imoseyon and want to return to ziggy's kernel, there's a link to download ziggy's kernel in the OP of the synergy thread.
I hope this helps

I really enjoyed his CM10 Kernel. However on Beans 10 this kernel just ate battery and completely killed my performance. IMO .4 seemed the best on my phone.
Thought it would would be nice to have a thread dedicated to KToonsez kernel settings and adjustments. This can be the place to share tips of what works best for you. To organize this a bit, list the following....
Is it built for speed, stability, or battery saving?
Min-max CPU freq.
CPU volts if you changed them.
Gov and settings.
Anything else you want to add??
FYI. Scrolling though alot of pictures all in one page on the web or the Vellamo HTML 5 benchmark is the best way to test stability IMO.
Also be careful of running your benchmarks at 2106mhz. They may increase the CPU temp higher than you think. I hit atleast 140 degrees Fahrenheit on the Elephant stress test!! I'm not sure what temp the CPU can really take before it destroys itself.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2
Fairly smooth and quick.
Wheatley Gov + stock Gov settings.
96-2106
2106 @ 1325mv
96 @ 800mv
Touch Boost @ stock
This setup seems to keep the CPU from burning up and still puts out the power.
In the taskbar I am running Micro CPU Monitor, Temp Monitor(CPU), and Cool Tool APPS. All this is keeping good track of everything my CPU is doing regardless of what app I am currently using. Its all right there at the top of the screen. Load, Frequency, and Temp.

Its great to see someone replying to this thread. I really thought it was going to go dead. Considering this is probably one of the most popular kernels I thought it would take off pretty good. Anyways thanks for your input and keep it coming!
Thanks guys!

Aside from when im at work (signal blows at work) its exceptional, i can manage to get anywhere from 3-4 hours of screen on time or more. Just depends what all i do that day, but i leave 4G on 24/7 and only use WIFI at home, sync stays on as well. Its plenty enough to get me through each day, so about 7am to 10pm.

your welcome
Following this thread because it does seem like interesting information that's not easily available anywhere else.
One important thing I see people aren't listing is what ROM they are using, especially if it's AOSP-based or TW-based.
I was running KT747 10/31 release on the first JB TW leak and was getting a lot of strange behavior, even with the stock settings.
I'll be trying it again on the latest release once I get my device dialed in (Clean ROM 4.5) and create a backup.
Do anyone have the link for ktoonsez kernel, trying out a new rom and i want to use this kernel and the ktweaker app..i searched but havent found it yet

It's in the original android development section.

Its under Original development, may be how you missed it. I think all kernels are there because they are built from source, someone correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks, The name of the thread threw me off, i skipped over it...when i went back i saw ktoonez

here is another thread with more info, i follow this one, i hope you find some good stuff here
It's no good. If u can find the 10-28 kernel. That's the one to use. Works great for me.
