Thought it would would be nice to have a thread dedicated to KToonsez kernel settings and adjustments. This can be the place to share tips of what works best for you. To organize this a bit, list the following....
Is it built for speed, stability, or battery saving?
Min-max CPU freq.
CPU volts if you changed them.
Gov and settings.
Anything else you want to add??
FYI. Scrolling though alot of pictures all in one page on the web or the Vellamo HTML 5 benchmark is the best way to test stability IMO.
Also be careful of running your benchmarks at 2106mhz. They may increase the CPU temp higher than you think. I hit atleast 140 degrees Fahrenheit on the Elephant stress test!! I'm not sure what temp the CPU can really take before it destroys itself.

Fairly smooth and quick.
Wheatley Gov + stock Gov settings.
96-2106
2106 @ 1325mv
96 @ 800mv
Touch Boost @ stock
This setup seems to keep the CPU from burning up and still puts out the power.
In the taskbar I am running Micro CPU Monitor, Temp Monitor(CPU), and Cool Tool APPS. All this is keeping good track of everything my CPU is doing regardless of what app I am currently using. Its all right there at the top of the screen. Load, Frequency, and Temp.

What app are people using to adjust the settings. I could have sworn there was a KTweaks app but sure can't find it. Know it came with a ROM I was running.
its called ktweaker.
i put my minimum to 144 thats all i changed.

Aside from when im at work (signal blows at work) its exceptional, i can manage to get anywhere from 3-4 hours of screen on time or more. Just depends what all i do that day, but i leave 4G on 24/7 and only use WIFI at home, sync stays on as well. Its plenty enough to get me through each day, so about 7am to 10pm.

your welcome
Following this thread because it does seem like interesting information that's not easily available anywhere else.
One important thing I see people aren't listing is what ROM they are using, especially if it's AOSP-based or TW-based.
I was running KT747 10/31 release on the first JB TW leak and was getting a lot of strange behavior, even with the stock settings.
I'll be trying it again on the latest release once I get my device dialed in (Clean ROM 4.5) and create a backup.
Do anyone have the link for ktoonsez kernel, trying out a new rom and i want to use this kernel and the ktweaker app..i searched but havent found it yet

Its under Original development, may be how you missed it. I think all kernels are there because they are built from source, someone correct me if I am wrong.

It's no good. If u can find the 10-28 kernel. That's the one to use. Works great for me.

Anyone else use this app to overclock? Im bored at work and instead of working I just installed it and ran quadrant, which I know that's all its really good for, and hit over 1900 at 1.3 ghz. Im gonna leave it there for a bit to see if anything goes wrong...

I don't understand why anyone wants to overclock our phones? From everything I have read all it will do is decrease battery life and give higher quad scores which really mean nothing.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
i think whats more important, or more NEEDED, is voltage control.
be it voltage control for OC'ing or Voltage Control for underclocking, or just dropping the voltages as low as you can go while maintaning the stock phone speeds.
this is one thing i miss about the EVO.

Because its fun. Of course there is no practical value in it I even said that. I personally just like to mess with my phone to mess with it and I'm sure others do too. does a theme make your phone run better or more efficiently are they important to practicality? No it just changes its looks so why do people do that? It's fun.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
I mean...there's plenty of practical reasons to overclock, e.g. better performance in a game. But if you're sitting around playing a game for a while, I doubt your concern is battery life to begin with.
tegrak uses module overlock similar to how the dx/d2/milestone are able to oc/uv without the ability to accept custom kernels
its not ideal (for those that overclock) compared to actual custom kernels with oc steps.
that being said, overclock isnt particularly important on 1ghz and up processors..whereas the eris/og droid needed it to compensate
I am using it, overclocked to 1.3 and then using setcpu to keep it at 800. I just want to have the speed and power there if needed
edit: just got a 1719 score in quadrant on 1.3

I'm on Eclair rooted w/ Voodoo and regularly pull 1800+ Quadrant scores and get a solid 12hr. of battery life with screen brightness at around 60% (easily visible outside). I have no idea why anyone would want to use an OC tool... other than to have than extra bit of control that would allow you to undervolt even further for additional battery life.
EDIT-
To:Zach - I'm calling your boss to tell them that you're off-task and that they should make you quit the OC'ing and get back to work ASAP.

This is so true. I underclocked my phone to 768MHz to try out how it would work for a day. I ended up entirely forgetting I had done that until I ran a benchmark.
seeing all this is amazing, I am very tempted to try it out, but this beast is super fast with having to OC it, lol

I don't know if you're right or not but I just flashed the 1.5 kernel and at 1.4 this thing is as fast as a computer..I hope you're right because I don't wanna go back to 1ghz..
Got 2016 quadrant after a reboot which is 300 higher than I got at 1 gig..
http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/specs
Right below the dual core, High performance Smart Phones section. MSM8655 is our processor, it comes @ 1.0ghz, plam pre3 has the same and it comes @ 1.4ghz. The chip can take it but I think it was lowered for battery concern. I notice a lot of speed just flying through different programs when OC to 1.5, it opens them much faster, could be the I/O tweaks as well though. As for PC, mine puts out 42 gflops compared to my phones 49 mflops, still a long way off, thats 0.001% of the processing power. This phone is no slouch, so I guess it speaks more for my computers power.
sweet....im just gonna run it at 1.4 and since i have the 2750 battery i'm not gonna worry about battery life at all. i love this phone right now..

I've been using the latest QwikWiz for a couple of weeks now and I've been pleased with the results thus far (other than the speech to txt not working anymore, and when it does, it says 'canadian english'), but I was wondering if anyone has tried installing this kernel and using qwikwiz at the same time? I'm not even sure if its possible (im new at this kinda stuff). Just wondering what peoples thoughts/experiences were.
This Kernel should work on ALL roms less CM7.
Make a nandroid and Flash. it will NOT prem bork your phone. if anything all you will have to do is get back into CMW and restore your nandroid and it bring your phone all the way back to the point you backed up at, with data, kernel, apps, setting, messages, and all that good stuff.
so flash away bruh.
The qwikwiz says it was OC'd to 1.83, and this kernel says it is 1.7....is this slower than what the ROM was pushing the processor to?

I never had any stability issues with the other kernel. Only issue I had was that the speech to text would stop working randomly (until i did a soft reset), and then it would still say I was in Canadian English...but after awhile that would stop working again. I guess I'll give this one a go and see how its like. Worst case scenario, I guess I could always roll back.
Pretty happy with this.
Using NexusmodI717 with Gideonx script.
No issues.
I attempted to use faux123's kernel but was having issues with my device not going into "deep sleep"...
Now I may only have 10 posts here on XDA but I would like to state that I did unplug the charger and used CPU Spy to see if my device would go into deep sleep when not in use.
I then switched to Da_G's kernel (0.42 for ROGERS) and my device sleeps when not in use.

charge battery, then falsh kernel
charge til full then turn off phone and turn it on.
go to battery calabration, you can get it in the market..
let it charge up to 4200 then calabrate.
if this doesn't work then charge to 4200 again calabrate again.. then boot into cwm and clear bat stat, let it die.. then charge to 100/4200.
then calabrate again.. and enjoy
Is battery calibration necessary? And also what roms r u guys using wit faux that is good for battery life? I'm planning to change my rom from tpc to something else

had good battery life before the kernel.
and i am using spb 3d Shell.....which uses more battery than the stock launcher. so im sure it will be even better that way.
Been using the two with limited issues. Phone is snappiest it has been, and scores slightly better in every benchmark
Idle battery loss is an improvement....but it seems to drain faster than da g's .3 kernel did while in use
Still testing though...we have 5 batteries and one may be bad.
On this battery today I have had the best battery life on faux kernel since flashing it.
We put the ??? Battery in our other skyrocket today (which is running .3 with quickwiz) to see if we can narrow it down.
My phone is definitely sleeping, but only uses 1.72 or 384 mhz

I've found that using setcpu and keeping ziggy's synergy kernel at 1.51 max and .384 min with the ondemand has been stellar in battery life. Those are the default kernel settings for the stock samsung kernel. Its been great for me, but its also all relative to what you consider to be "best battery life" i keep a charger at work, at home, and in my car, so my phone is always plugged in, i also keep the brightness all the way down because that seems to be bright enough for me, and i don't do much streaming since i keep all my music on my sd card. But i can easily get 3 - 4 hours of screen on time
If ziggy's kernel isn't your choice then i'd say go with imoseyons lean kernel, i used that all the time on my tbolt and it definitely improved battery life. That kernel can be found HERE he doesn't have a thread for it on xda, so you'll have to download it here.
Oh and if you do try out imoseyon and want to return to ziggy's kernel, there's a link to download ziggy's kernel in the OP of the synergy thread.
I hope this helps

I really enjoyed his CM10 Kernel. However on Beans 10 this kernel just ate battery and completely killed my performance. IMO .4 seemed the best on my phone.
Announcements And Release Updates Thread, I created this thread so whenever there's an update, announcements from sources, devs or leaks it all gets posted from users all In here for everyone to view. That way devs etc don't get cluttered by people asking for eta's on there projects.
It's a win win, cause if there is a release, leak or rumour it will be all here.
If there is a release, leak, announcement or rumour. Please provide a link if possible. Feel free to contribute as you see fit.
Even inform user's what rom and kernel your using - report on : Performance, Battery And all issues. (Whether positive or negative)
Questions can also be asked to be answered by other user's.
If we can all report in this thread then all users can benefit from information all in one thread.
Thank you

My rom : omega 7.0 kit Kat 4.4.2 - my kernel : civz katengine 1.4.
Verdict : battery life is not to bad better then stock, I am happy with it since its only early stages in development. Performance has impressed me and it's very responsive and speedy with no lag or hangups. Using Fauxsound app now I have awesome sound quality after configuration. I have used trickster mod app to make the kernel use 300mhz min frequency with Governor intellidemand. Personally I'm happy with that configuration not bad drain on battery and keeps things responsive and speedy
So overall I do recommend this configuration to users who want to test it out.

It's my favorite 4.3 rom atm. But I have not tried much. Battery life is good. Comparable to temasek cm11 based rom and his custom kernel. But his is still better
I want to move to the new bootloader but I'm waiting for other roms to support it such as cm11.
4.3 is still very good. Everything obviously works and has little to zero issues. When kitkat goes at that level I'll upgrade

Your very patient lol I made the quick decision move to new bootloader Kitkat and man I do regret it, absolutely loved temaseks cm 11. But I shall try my best and wait patiently for cm 11 to move to new bootloader. When I was on 4.3 my favs were temasek cm11 and definitely fox hound and xnote

I actually made threads about kitkat pros and cons and bugged alot of people to make an informed decision if I should wait or not. Yeah waiting for x note kitkat. Dev bricked his note but he got it fixed so I think he working in it now.
@Hakired Yeh I read that he bricked it trying to push bootloader through recovery. At least he got it fixed omega isn't to bad tho I have had no problems at all, only downfall I see is trying to manage the battery drain, I have been configuring kernel and governors, I have lowered battery drain a bit but I want to lower it even more lol

Use CivZ KatEngine 1.4 with Omega V7 - set Gov to Intellidemand and scheduler to ROW and you should be good, 11 hours on my battery, few apps used (FB Hangouts Sky sports, couple of calls etc) and my battery is @ 94%
EDIT: All sync's are on and location set to Powersave and I have full 4G signal

@radicalisto thank you for your configuration I have just adjusted it to your settings now, so I will test it out for a day or so much appreciated mate.

@radicalisto if your using trickster mod, is that with mp decision on or off?
Edit : never mind mate, I figured it out mp decision is always recommended to be left off.

@souljasteve84 I think it's going to be pretty hard unless other people start pitching in on updates. If they do you can update your OP to a catalog arranged by date with links to them.

Yip meant to say mpdecision should be off. -- how is it settling?
EDIT: I am using Synapse, it's the recommended kernel tuner for that kernel - comes installed with it, remove trickster and use only Synapse if you can, it may conflict with it or vice versa
By the way for those who don't want nothing more than just a good battery life.
Powersave with just CPU checked gives me roughley about 40% more life span per cycle. I have been doing this since owning a S3.
When its enabled with CPU only the clock speed is reduced to 1.5 and still operates super smooth and quick

Thanks guys for the info, I have removed trickster and just using synapse.
Edit: I have decided to go back to stock kernel, as civz Katengine Kernel was draining battery more then stock kernel. Now I'm on stock it seems to be draining at a good rate. I guess configurations work for some and don't work for others
