Announcements And Release Updates Thread, I created this thread so whenever there's an update, announcements from sources, devs or leaks it all gets posted from users all In here for everyone to view. That way devs etc don't get cluttered by people asking for eta's on there projects.
It's a win win, cause if there is a release, leak or rumour it will be all here.
If there is a release, leak, announcement or rumour. Please provide a link if possible. Feel free to contribute as you see fit.
Even inform user's what rom and kernel your using - report on : Performance, Battery And all issues. (Whether positive or negative)
Questions can also be asked to be answered by other user's.
If we can all report in this thread then all users can benefit from information all in one thread.

My rom : omega 7.0 kit Kat 4.4.2 - my kernel : civz katengine 1.4.
Verdict : battery life is not to bad better then stock, I am happy with it since its only early stages in development. Performance has impressed me and it's very responsive and speedy with no lag or hangups. Using Fauxsound app now I have awesome sound quality after configuration. I have used trickster mod app to make the kernel use 300mhz min frequency with Governor intellidemand. Personally I'm happy with that configuration not bad drain on battery and keeps things responsive and speedy
So overall I do recommend this configuration to users who want to test it out.

It's my favorite 4.3 rom atm. But I have not tried much. Battery life is good. Comparable to temasek cm11 based rom and his custom kernel. But his is still better
I want to move to the new bootloader but I'm waiting for other roms to support it such as cm11.
4.3 is still very good. Everything obviously works and has little to zero issues. When kitkat goes at that level I'll upgrade

Your very patient lol I made the quick decision move to new bootloader Kitkat and man I do regret it, absolutely loved temaseks cm 11. But I shall try my best and wait patiently for cm 11 to move to new bootloader. When I was on 4.3 my favs were temasek cm11 and definitely fox hound and xnote

I actually made threads about kitkat pros and cons and bugged alot of people to make an informed decision if I should wait or not. Yeah waiting for x note kitkat. Dev bricked his note but he got it fixed so I think he working in it now.
@Hakired Yeh I read that he bricked it trying to push bootloader through recovery. At least he got it fixed omega isn't to bad tho I have had no problems at all, only downfall I see is trying to manage the battery drain, I have been configuring kernel and governors, I have lowered battery drain a bit but I want to lower it even more lol

Use CivZ KatEngine 1.4 with Omega V7 - set Gov to Intellidemand and scheduler to ROW and you should be good, 11 hours on my battery, few apps used (FB Hangouts Sky sports, couple of calls etc) and my battery is @ 94%
EDIT: All sync's are on and location set to Powersave and I have full 4G signal

EDIT: I am using Synapse, it's the recommended kernel tuner for that kernel - comes installed with it, remove trickster and use only Synapse if you can, it may conflict with it or vice versa
By the way for those who don't want nothing more than just a good battery life.
Powersave with just CPU checked gives me roughley about 40% more life span per cycle. I have been doing this since owning a S3.
When its enabled with CPU only the clock speed is reduced to 1.5 and still operates super smooth and quick

Thanks guys for the info, I have removed trickster and just using synapse.
Edit: I have decided to go back to stock kernel, as civz Katengine Kernel was draining battery more then stock kernel. Now I'm on stock it seems to be draining at a good rate. I guess configurations work for some and don't work for others

What's the best ROM for battery life at the moment? I've been stock because of the various problems with nonofficial GB ROMs, it's probably the most functional, but one of the least stable.
What's a good ROM that has good battery life and is stable/functional? Or is good functionality going to be hit and miss for various people until official GB?
One other thing. The hell does AOSP mean?
I'm currently using juwe's smart edition (props to big fault for the port!) with a j2 modem and entropy's DD and my battery life is amazing

So far on all GB ROMs I've tried something that almost everyone uses doesn't work, and some apps force close, and there's other problems...
Nothing wrong with gb roms based on Rogers gb, except for HDMI not working, but who uses that anyway? I'm on infused 2.2.3 right now, I get about a day and a half of moderate use. There are really only bugs with miui., cm7, and any hellraised roms... infused or any of the leaks are fine.
AOSP = android open source project.

No one mentions what's working and what isn't on the leaked ROMs. Is HDMI, bluetooth, wifi, GPS, etc all working on say UCKK1?

Now now, it isn't a dumb question. Roms like miui are going to have worse battery life because of the complexity, where stock based will have less battery drain. It comes down to trying it yourself, but asking for a little advice isn't a problem...

Yea there are a lot of minor setbacks, but there are few to no roms specifically for the infuse...I haven't tried cm7 or miui yet but I've tried most of the stock based roms and juwe's smart edition has had the best overall performance (with the help of a couple other tweaks). I've found that using setcpu and keeping ziggy's synergy kernel at 1.51 max and .384 min with the ondemand has been stellar in battery life. Those are the default kernel settings for the stock samsung kernel. Its been great for me, but its also all relative to what you consider to be "best battery life" i keep a charger at work, at home, and in my car, so my phone is always plugged in, i also keep the brightness all the way down because that seems to be bright enough for me, and i don't do much streaming since i keep all my music on my sd card. But i can easily get 3 - 4 hours of screen on time
If ziggy's kernel isn't your choice then i'd say go with imoseyons lean kernel, i used that all the time on my tbolt and it definitely improved battery life. That kernel can be found HERE he doesn't have a thread for it on xda, so you'll have to download it here.
Oh and if you do try out imoseyon and want to return to ziggy's kernel, there's a link to download ziggy's kernel in the OP of the synergy thread.
I hope this helps

I really enjoyed his CM10 Kernel. However on Beans 10 this kernel just ate battery and completely killed my performance. IMO .4 seemed the best on my phone.
I'm just a user here and I take no credit for this kernel. This kernel was made by Ezekeel and is posted in his thread on RootzWiki. However I thought it would be a good idea to link it here for those who didn't know about it, If this is not allowed, please delete this thread.

The latest innovation in human-smartphone interaction. Our scientist have shown in extensive tests that humans operating our kernel on their devices experience 67% more joy in life while simultaneously the likelihood of being maimed or killed by falling space debris is significantly reduced. Also preliminary human trials indicate that it might offer some protection against lethal dosages of gamma radiation and blows to the head with a rod-like object.

Flashed this on my N7 its running smooth. This by far is my favorite overall kernel you won't get nightlies with glados but its so stable you don't need them. I think this is the downfall of a lot of other kernels there flakey in the sense that one release is awesome and the next could mess your phone up.

I have been running this over the weekend and today, and I can say that it works well with AOKP nightly from 29 Aug
Performance is good, the battery-performance ratio is optimal for me as I don't need performance
It has the stock clock speed and is not as feature rich as Faux's or Morfic's, but I like the kernel how it is, and I am sure it will improve as this is an early version
I recommend trying it, its good on battery and I have not experienced any lag, unlike I experienced with some other kernels

He doesn't like (and probably rightfully so) that the CM team took a few open source kernel tweaks and modified them so that they weren't triggered in the same manner while not giving credit to the original kernel developers. It was something along those lines; my details may be off a bit.
Meaning color cpu/ffs/fsync/whatever implementation methods may have changed and the Rom Control panel will not be able to tweak them on Glados.
It should boot and work just fine; so long as you're aware that any kernel tweaks that CM10 has in it's settings menu may not work.

Seems to be pretty smooth, but frankly, ALL of the kernels seem smooth, lol. I never notice the little things others talk about. I can really only tell the difference on benchmarks.
(I never notice a lot of things...for example, I have never had wifi issues on android device, and as a family we have five devices. And I have owned at least one hard drive since 1988--10 MB MFM baby! --and have never, ever, had one crash. Must be the clean living.)
I'm using it with paranoid android 1.92 and so far it's amazing. Thanks to the OP for bringing this to my attention

Thought it would would be nice to have a thread dedicated to KToonsez kernel settings and adjustments. This can be the place to share tips of what works best for you. To organize this a bit, list the following....
Is it built for speed, stability, or battery saving?
Min-max CPU freq.
CPU volts if you changed them.
Gov and settings.
Anything else you want to add??
FYI. Scrolling though alot of pictures all in one page on the web or the Vellamo HTML 5 benchmark is the best way to test stability IMO.
Also be careful of running your benchmarks at 2106mhz. They may increase the CPU temp higher than you think. I hit atleast 140 degrees Fahrenheit on the Elephant stress test!! I'm not sure what temp the CPU can really take before it destroys itself.

Wheatley Gov + stock Gov settings.
96-2106
2106 @ 1325mv
96 @ 800mv
Touch Boost @ stock
This setup seems to keep the CPU from burning up and still puts out the power.
In the taskbar I am running Micro CPU Monitor, Temp Monitor(CPU), and Cool Tool APPS. All this is keeping good track of everything my CPU is doing regardless of what app I am currently using. Its all right there at the top of the screen. Load, Frequency, and Temp.

your welcome
Following this thread because it does seem like interesting information that's not easily available anywhere else.
One important thing I see people aren't listing is what ROM they are using, especially if it's AOSP-based or TW-based.
I was running KT747 10/31 release on the first JB TW leak and was getting a lot of strange behavior, even with the stock settings.
I'll be trying it again on the latest release once I get my device dialed in (Clean ROM 4.5) and create a backup.
Do anyone have the link for ktoonsez kernel, trying out a new rom and i want to use this kernel and the ktweaker app..i searched but havent found it yet

It's in the original android development section.

Its under Original development, may be how you missed it. I think all kernels are there because they are built from source, someone correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks, The name of the thread threw me off, i skipped over it...when i went back i saw ktoonez

BTW KToonsez just released an updated version today. Haven't tried it yet.
here is another thread with more info, i follow this one, i hope you find some good stuff here
It's no good. If u can find the 10-28 kernel. That's the one to use. Works great for me.

InstaVOLT v1.5
Decided to put it on the market for all devices that meet the requirements.
Quoted from market:
"InstaVOLT is the easiest app for managing your CPU milliVoltage levels. You can undervolt or overvolt your CPU voltage levels by steps of 25 milliVolt. Be sure to check the overall voltage levels after every increase or decrease, so you know what your device/kernel is capable of.
Requirements:
- Root
- Busybox
- Kernel with VDD levels support
Warning:
I'm not responsible for any damage caused to your device, use at own risk!
- If the voltage levels are to low your phone will freeze and you will need to pull the battery
- If the voltage levels are to high your phone will overheat and/or suddenly power off.
Since this is a very early version the app might force close when your kernel doesn't have vdd support.
Updates coming soon!"
Info for our device:
The voltage range of our device is 750mV - 1450mV.
Upcoming updates:
- Support for setting voltages at boot.
- Probably more compatibility / options

Nice app Brood, let know when you need some translators
Thanks brood! Once again an incredible job!
Here I publish my voltages with the max UV I can reach with freq between 245-1400mhz, interactiveX and row.

Wow, your overall voltage table is way lower then mine, check this out:
Mine: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yours:
how is the battery life with those voltages?
And I can lower it even 25mV more and works like a charm! But thats the limit, if I lower 50mV the phone freezes.
I will publish complete battery stats at the end of the day, don't know if they will be so good because I think that the mayor problem of battery drain is at lower voltages, I wish I could lower them more.
Anyway my phone is about 2 years old, so battery eficience may have decrease at least a 10-20%.. it's normal to have more drain than with new phone!

Really? you can put it to 725 without making it freeze? thats nice
OK thanks, ill wait for the results. and idd the major battery eater isn't the cpu/frequencies.. its something else. as Extreme UV and non UV almost result in the same results xD
And you can lower them more. in acpuclock-7x30.c you can find:
#ifdef CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_VDD_LEVELS
#define VDD_MIN_UV_MV 750U
#define VDD_MAX_UV_MV 1450U
which sets the limits, however, I don't know what will happen
My phone is also almost 2 years old now, and the battery is still prety decent to be honest, I thought it would be lazy as hell by this time ;p
ok I will try it later and give you feedback!
Even 375mhz doesn't lower more, when I reduce 25mV at least the rest frecuencies voltage is reduced.
You know that every single procesor is different, so maybe I was lucky with mine!
Anyway battery is enough good for me, I prefer permormance even if I have to pay a little more battery drain for it.
Thanks!

Nice I'm curious about the results, since I patched it to 1.1 it shouldn't FC anymore when there is no vdd support possible.
In next update i will add "save on boot" (as in a new init.d script)

very nice app, really..cant go lower than 2x decreasing (phone freeze)..am using phenom kernel (exuv) bigmem..
Thanks brood. ^_^

Thanks, and if the max steps for -25mV is 2 then you've exceeded the minimal voltage, the minimal mV is 750, everything below that will freeze the phone. everything above 1450 will result in epic core meltdowns :silly:
on my note 2 its unfortunately not working, but also no fc. tried with stock and custom kernel (Adam Kernel)
will post results for my other phones tomorrow because im currently not at home.
btw. i like the idea of setting all voltages down the same amount. nice work bro
