[Q] Best battery life ROM? - Samsung Infuse 4G

What's the best ROM for battery life at the moment? I've been stock because of the various problems with nonofficial GB ROMs, it's probably the most functional, but one of the least stable.
What's a good ROM that has good battery life and is stable/functional? Or is good functionality going to be hit and miss for various people until official GB?
One other thing. The hell does AOSP mean?

I'm currently using juwe's smart edition (props to big fault for the port!) with a j2 modem and entropy's DD and my battery life is amazing
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App

How's the functionality?
So far on all GB ROMs I've tried something that almost everyone uses doesn't work, and some apps force close, and there's other problems...

Nothing wrong with gb roms based on Rogers gb, except for HDMI not working, but who uses that anyway? I'm on infused 2.2.3 right now, I get about a day and a half of moderate use. There are really only bugs with miui., cm7, and any hellraised roms... infused or any of the leaks are fine.
AOSP = android open source project.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App

No one mentions what's working and what isn't on the leaked ROMs. Is HDMI, bluetooth, wifi, GPS, etc all working on say UCKK1?

Pretty sure everything except HDMI... I could be wrong though.

This is a horrible question to ask. Batt life is gonna be diff for each user. You wont know the answer to the dumb question unless you try it for yourself.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium

Now now, it isn't a dumb question. Roms like miui are going to have worse battery life because of the complexity, where stock based will have less battery drain. It comes down to trying it yourself, but asking for a little advice isn't a problem...

Just to go against the miui thing, I'm running cm7 which is very related to miui and my battery life is 3x that of any sammy based roms I have tried lol. Up to you though...

I had perfect batt life on miui when i wanted it. The only answer to the question is to try it yourself. Someone says this roms batt life is amazing and you flash it and hate the rom then youre back at square one. Answer is really simple....TEST ROMS OUT AND FIND WHAT YOU LIKE!

Yea there are a lot of minor setbacks, but there are few to no roms specifically for the infuse...I haven't tried cm7 or miui yet but I've tried most of the stock based roms and juwe's smart edition has had the best overall performance (with the help of a couple other tweaks). Just do what I did and play around with a couple things; its tedious but fun at the same time and you learn a lot along the way

I'm on Sensation ROM 1.1, with Core-A Kernel and UCKK1 modem. GPS is almost instant lock, Downloads 4-8 Mbps (depending on location w/o wifi), uploads 2+ Mbps. Using 3 email accounts, pushed. Go Launcher.
right now I'm at 17% battery remaining, after 24 hours, which included emails, web browsing, watching 3 fantasy football scores yesterday all day long, FB, etc. No alot of intense use, but steady, regular usage.

I'm fairly new to android but i have a Rogers LTE and I am a software tester as my day time job..
I tried the TPC V3 and it was pretty good but i ran into some issues after a few days. I posted them somewhere on here but here they are again
1) the battery drained pretty quickly.
2) while in contacts it will all of a sudden jump to a random letter
3) when i try and open angry birds or fruit ninja it flashes and goes back to the home screen
4) when i reboot my phone the time is wrong and i have to set it to network time again
5) in the factory browser when i rotate the device it automatically goes back to Google.com no matter what page i am viewing, also it closes all my open windows too
Cosmetically - i'm not a fan of the 4G LTE icon and the Blue circle battery meter..
but this dev seems to update his stuff regularly and i am looking forward to trying it again as it was pretty fast and smooth.
I am currently just Rooted with these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
it works well and the battery life seems to be pretty good.. on LTE all day it lasts and wifi at home in the evening.. it still has the Rogers Bloatware on it but i just put into a CRAP folder and leave it at that..
Cyanogenmod 7 is the best with DA_G kernel version 4 for cm7. Phone is ultra stable & alot faster then it was with the Stock rom or any of the other custom roms.

What is the most popular ROM?

I'm using the Stock UCLA3 debloated but am having a hard time deciding which ROMs to try out there are just so many.
I guess thread activity is probably the best indicator of most popular. In that case it's Sky Ics by a long shot with over 4k replies and 400k views.
Just so you know the most popular ROM might not be the one you like best, read all the OPs of the ROM pages and see which one fits your needs best.
Sky ics is really good but make sure you flash a ucla3 kernel with it like faux 10 or romracers stockish .3, since you're using the ucla3 radio

I think, well imo, that TPC has been the most stable ROM out there. I've tried so many popular roms like sky ics, buoyancy, cyanotouchwiz. But I always end up go back to TPC. The 2nd rom I'd choose would be sky ics. It is fast and smooth except only one thing:
It has an issue with force close and I THINK I know how it happens - some widgets won't work on homepage. For instance 3D flip clock. Whenever you add the widget on the homepage, it will force close right away.
Overall TPC is more stable and saves more battery life. I use the phone a lot and I end up with 20% after 12 hours use. Hope it helps

I feel sorry for you guys. I don't know how you people use smartphones and can't figure out how to max your battery life. Turn off data, wifi, bluetooth, and gps when you are not actively using them. Always on mobile data is a killer. Disable all push notifications. And the biggest one is set custom automatic brightness adjustment. I set mine manually most of the time because stock, particularly with sense, is way too high. Even in a pitch black room it won't dial the back light down to minimum.

From my experience, you could try the Virtuous rom with sense 3.5, it has pretty good battery life.
I've had my Inspire for a year and two months aprox., still with the stock battery. On GB the best battery life I had was on Virtuous Affinity 2.05, MIUI 2.4.20, and CM7.2 with LC's kernel. Also, IceColdSandwich 8.6.1 has given me a pretty good battery life. Yesterday I flashed JellyTime R12 and can't talk too much about this one. Always remember the basics, turn off stuff you are not using. And remember, every phone is different so the best way to know is to flash yourself and test for a few days.
This is the best I've gotten on aospx br7

I recently switched to Sabsa Prime 6.0 from ARHD 6.3.2 and battery life has a noticible improvement, as well as performance. Plus it's working ICS.
I don't know if it's my usage or what..None of the ROM gave me battery life of more than a day.Right now due to lot of chatting,i hardly get a day backup.
Used Existz's AOSPX,IceColdSandwich and now finally on Sabsa Prime v6.0
----------------
Device:Inspire 4G
ROM:Sabsa Prime v6.0
Kernel:virtuous_infinity-v1.35.0
I am a moderate to heavy user and I work in a poor coverage area. All roms I have used, FroYo, GB, ICS, AOSP or Sense, get me to lunch. I plug in while on my break and that will get me home. I never go anywhere without car and wall chargers. Use it how you want. With the size of the battery and the size of the display, you won't get a lot of use between charging.
Not just a pretty Pickle.

ROM for best battery life

I just got the Samsung Galaxy s3 the other day and I am impressed. I was coming from an iPhone 4. Only thing I don't like is the battery life. So far I've flashed synergy 1.7, beans build 8, and Scotts cleanrom. Synergy seems to be the best on battery life, but I just want to know what others think. Also, I am running IMO lean kernel .01 on all of them at stock speeds. Not over clocked. Just wanting opinions.
Try synergy 1.3, best rom with excellent battery life

There really is no best rom, it's all about user preference and exactly what you do with your phone. Try them each out for a week to weigh the pros/cons (or in your case scope out the battery life), then go with the one that you like best.

Thanks for the info but I've done that. They all seem the same. I think my real concern is the kernel. I like Scotts cleanrom but I wanna know which kernel is recommended for battery and performance
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
All the ROMs do a pretty good job. If battery life is your #1 concern and nothing else matters:
1. keep screen brightness on minimum. Screen filter can reduce brightness even more.
2. If you use wifi, set it to sleep unless charging.
3. Don't use 4g. Use 3g only.
4. Disable syncing or data entirely and only manually sync when you need to. (Something like JuiceDefender can automate this)
5. Disable google backup.
6. Disable GPS and verizon/google location services.
7. Disable bluetooth.
8. Check and eliminate all wakelocks using betterbattery stats.
9. Turn off all haptic feedback.
10. Freeze all Samsung and Verizon related services using titanium Backup.
11. Maybe a mild underclock on your kernel.
At this point, you will get great battery on your dumbphone with a giant screen
Haha thanks man. Yeah I'm just stupud about battery. I pay attention to it too much. I'll do all that. Stupid giant screen indeed

I was having horrific battery on 1.7 with IMO's 0.1 beta. I completely wiped and reinstalled 1.7 on stock kernel, let my battery completely die and charged it up last night. Today I am at 90% after 3.5 hours unplugged listening to pod casts the whole time and texting and reddit app. Yesterday I was at 78% doing much less and unplugged for less time. I think when updating to new ROMs its important to do a full wipe and make sure if you use TiBu don't restore any system data. I don't have anything frozen as well

I know its all personal preference, but I don't get a chance to check the forums as much as id like. I'm looking for something with speed and performance. I don't want to have to deal with a lot of problems tho. I'm currently running clean ROM which I felt like it was the best at the time, but their may b something better.

I'd have to say my two favorites are Hyperdrive and AxisM... On my SIII the new lean kernel was fast and smooth.
All the time you are using checking back on this thread could have been used to read some rom ops to see what would suit you best.

? App was left open, you always act hostile towards people asking questions? I'm asking what ones has the most bells and whistles but still has performance and speed. not what their features are

Not hostile but you won't understand until you actually see hundreds of these everyday that's why there is a search button or even categories within a certain device. It may sound dumb to say but it's the truth and people complain why they are being hated on. This is a developers site not a daddy website for people to link you wherever you please. And still I'm sorry if I sound a but rough but it's the truth of what people tend to do after even reading the rules.

CyanogenMod 10.1 is the best rom :3
cuuress Musical
I've been running LiquidSmooth v2.5 with kt747 and have had excellent results. I don't even thing I've run into any issues at all with it. Been very pleased with the results, the best ROM I've run so far.
Thread closed as "Best" rom for one user is not necessarily the "Best" for another.
Users are encouraged to read and determine what is best for them by reading the knowledge shared via posting.
These threads always spiral into arguments about one rom over another, and thus, trolling ensues.
Please do not post "Best Rom" threads.
